If he were a human, his current state would be equivalent to being unconscious, with his eyes rolling back into his head and foam dripping from his mouth.
… But to the eyes of a human, he looked like nothing more than an enormous silhouette that was radiating light, so none would be able to tell whether he was unconscious or simply lying down. However, his disgrace was clear to see for the eyes of familiar spirits.
“So, gods can lose consciousness as well… That’s surprising,” muttered Aran as he glared at the god who was in this disgraceful state… Rodcorte.
“He probably pushed himself past his limits in various ways. Three of his familiar spirits, even if they were just humanoid ones created with his own Mana, as well as four reincarnated individuals with his divine protection,” said Izumi.
“The fact that he changed Jobs might have had a big effect as well. Just what kind of Job did he choose… Well, it’s good that he made Rodcorte lose consciousness. I might have been the one fainting if he just continued screaming like that,” muttered Kouya.
The three of them lowered the hands that were covering their ears.
Of course, the three familiar spirits… equivalent to Earth’s angels, did not truly have ears.
They had simply covered their ears out of the habit that had remained from when they were humans.
“He looked fine the last time… when the ‘Death Scythe’ Konoe Miyaji’s soul was broken here. Is that because it happened before he was reincarnated?” Aran wondered.
Murakami, Hajime and Kouya had all died in Origin at around the same time. Konoe Miyaji had tried to attack Vandalieu from the Divine Realm, and his soul had been destroyed by Vandalieu’s counterattack.
“You should ask Rodcorte yourself… or so I’d like to tell you, but it doesn’t look like he’ll come to his senses for a while,” said Kouya. “I’m just guessing, but it might be as you say, Aran. He might not have felt any pain when his soul was destroyed because it was before he was given new divine protections and reincarnated.”
The other possibility was that Rodcorte had indeed felt pain and simply endured and kept it hidden… but considering his current state, it seemed fair to assume that such a thing was impossible for him.
Rodcorte had let out a loud scream when Misa’s soul was devoured. It had not been the scream of someone who was capable of suppressing and enduring pain – and an agonizing pain, at that.
“The ‘Gungnir’ Kaidou Kanata’s soul was broken after he was reincarnated. What about him?” asked Izumi.
“That’s another thing we wouldn’t know without asking Rodcorte himself, but… either he was writhing in agony, or he’d made preparations for the possibility that Kanata’s soul would be broken. I wonder which it is,” said Kouya.
“So that means that Rodcorte is currently unconscious because he was expecting Murakami and Hajime to win against Vandalieu,” Izumi sighed.
Rodcorte had given Murakami and his companions three familiar spirits created with his own Mana for use with ‘Familiar Spirit Descent’ as well as the powers of ‘Gungnir’ and ‘Death Scythe,’ repaired for Murakami. He had even given them the ability to kill themselves if needed in the worst-case scenario.
In addition to that, he had provided them with all kinds of information through Divine Messages. He had gone to considerably extensive lengths and spared nothing.
Considering that, Izumi was likely correct in saying that Rodcorte had placed a lot of hope in Murakami.
And it was likely that the suicide mechanisms Rodcorte had placed in the three of them had prevented him from blocking the pain that would come with their souls being devoured along with his divine protections and familiar spirits, causing him to lose consciousness.
Izumi and the others did not know whether the destruction of the soul of Hajime Fitun, which had been absorbed by the god of thunderclouds Fitun, had also affected Rodcorte. Rodcorte had already been unconscious at that point.
“Well then, what should we do? I’ll be putting together a summary of the information we need to give to Asagi’s group and Mao,” said Aran.
“I understand informing Mao, but are you sure about Asagi? Won’t he start getting all fired up with some strange sense of justice?” said Izumi, apprehensive about this idea.
Asagi felt indignation at the fact that Vandalieu broke souls… and the fact that he devoured them. Izumi was worried about the risk that he would do something rash in his desire to stop Vandalieu, succumbing to some strange sense of justice and duty.
“Well, I think that’s possible, but… even if we stay silent, Asagi’s group will probably find out that Vandalieu’s gone and done something,” said Aran.
“Ah, you’re right. Fitun’s statues are cracking and falling apart across the whole continent,” said Izumi.
There had already been numerous incidents in which the statues of wounded gods would become cracked or bleed from the eyes. But in this case, a god himself had died.
The effect of this event had not stopped in the Alcrem Duchy in which the city of Morksi was located; it had spread across the entire Bahn Gaia continent and even beyond, to statues on other continents.
Naturally, it had also spread to the Birgitt Duchy where Asagi and his companions were. Fitun was not particularly widely worshiped in the Birgitt Duchy, and there were few statues of him there, but it wasn’t something that would be overlooked by Asagi’s group.
With that being the case, it wasn’t difficult to imagine that they would wonder whether Vandalieu was involved.
“I suppose you’re right. In that case, it would be best to give them clear details as fast as possible,” said Izumi.
“And I feel bad for saying this, but the ones who were killed are Murakami’s group and Hajime. I’m sure Asagi won’t be happy about it, but it won’t be enough to make his blood rise to his head and head straight towards Vandalieu,” Kouya added.
Murakami, Akira, Misa and Hajime – to Asagi and Kouya, these four had been people from the same school, and individuals who had shared their fate of reincarnation. They had also been allies in the Bravers.
But they had betrayed Asagi and Kouya, and Aran and Izumi had been personally killed by Murakami. Though they were all reincarnated individuals, the relationship between the familiar spirits and the reincarnated individuals who had been destroyed was close to being enemies.
Even the hot-blooded Asagi wouldn’t lose his cool over such people being devoured.
Kouya felt almost no grief at their loss as well, though he wouldn’t say that it had served them right, as he had already seen them die in Origin.
He felt pity for them, but he didn’t feel any anger towards Vandalieu. In fact, Kouya felt apologetic towards Vandalieu for the fact that he was the one who had been forced to clean up Kouya’s betrayers.
Kouya had perhaps unconsciously considered that Murakami’s group had paid for what they did through their deaths in Origin.
And Kanako, Doug and Melissa, who were supposed to have been allies of Murakami, seemed to have been accepted by Vandalieu. Thinking about it too deeply would make Kouya question himself.
But whose idea was that ‘transformation?’ Was it Kanako, after all? If that’s the case, Vandalieu must have taken a great liking to her, Kouya thought, but he quickly put these matters that he had no answers to aside for now.
“In any case, as long as we tell Asagi and the others what Hajime and that Fitun god did as well, he’ll understand that Vandalieu didn’t devour their souls unreasonably,” he concluded.
“Yeah, I’ll make sure to explain that in detail… Come to think of it, what are we going to do about Gotouta now that she’s left Murakami’s group as well?” asked Aran.
“Let’s tell Asagi and the others that the ‘Super Sense’ left Murakami’s group and doesn’t seem to want to get involved with Vandalieu anymore. There wouldn’t be any point in telling him where she is; they’d never meet, since she’s left the Bahn Gaia continent,” said Kouya.
“What will we do after that?” asked Izumi.
Aran and Kouya looked around at their surroundings.
Recent events would likely cause a meeting with Alda and his forces, and the treatment of the wounded soul of Edgar hadn’t finished yet.
It seemed that the ‘Avalon’ Rikudou Hijiri had made a move on the children of Amemiya Hiroto and Narumi in Origin as well.
“We won’t do anything in particular,” said Aran.
“Just our usual duties,” said Kouya.
There was nothing that the familiar spirits could do. The one heading to the meeting with Alda and his forces would be Rodcorte, and they were unable to leave this Divine Realm without Rodcorte’s permission. They couldn’t do anything about the treatment of Edgar’s soul, either.
… It would be possible for them to interfere with the treatment, but it would certainly be discovered by Rodcorte if they did, so it was effectively impossible.
The familiar spirits could only watch over Origin; they could not offer any concrete forms of help. Fortunately, the children were being watched by something like a clone of Vandalieu’s. They would probably be fine as long as nothing too drastic happened.
And if they paid too much attention to the children, it was possible that Rodcorte would become aware of the existence of Vandalieu’s clone – Banda.
Incidentally, it was also impossible to kill Rodcorte while he was unconscious. The three of them were merely familiar spirits; they were unable to harm him. The moment they tried, their bodies would become completely immobile, as if turned to stone.
“Yes, let’s do that,” Izumi agreed.
They would completely devote themselves to understanding the circle of transmigration system, preparing themselves for the future, as if Rodcorte was hallucinating and nothing was out of the ordinary at all.
The forces of Alda, the god of law and fate, had gathered in his Divine Realm – and there was a huge fuss inside, as if someone had opened a beehive.
“That god of war – the god of thunderclouds Fitun-dono, who was said to have been able to defeat numerous evil gods remaining from the Demon King’s army if he were just blessed with the opportunity – was devoured?!” one god shouted.
“Fitun-dono physically incarnated upon the world, leading more heroic spirits than most gods are in charge of… and they were all exterminated! Not only did they fail to slay the Demon King, but they did not even defeat a single one of his subordinates. All of the heroic spirits and Rodcorte’s reincarnated individuals had their souls devoured… Is this reality?!” said another god in complete astonishment at Fitun’s defeat.
“Impossible – to regenerate even with his head, his brain, cut almost in two… Even the Demon King Guduranis’s movements slowed when his head was wounded; what in the world is he?! Will he not die unless his body is pulverized, burned to ash and then scattered across the world?!” a third god screamed.
“Putting aside the fact that he has no weak spots… Just what is he?! Even without using the technique that materialized his soul in the battle against the ‘Blue-flamed Sword’ Heinz or the spell that destroyed the Dungeon and destroyed Curatos-dono – without using his full power – he destroyed Fitun-dono!” muttered a fourth, clutching his head in fear of Vandalieu’s immortality and the power he possessed.
“To devour the heroic spirits before Fitun-dono’s very eyes…! Even if it was to strike fear into him and affect his mind, what a repulsive method!” another god said in criticism of what Vandalieu had done to mentally corner Hajime Fitun.
“Fitun-dono looked to be in real pain as his heroic spirits’ souls were devoured. Can we assume that this is because he had bestowed some kind of power to strengthen either the heroic spirits or their vessels directly…? Or was it the effect of some kind of power of the Demon King’s?” murmured yet another god, trying to analyze the situation perhaps in an attempt to regain some composure.
This analysis was largely useless however, with its frequent use of ‘some kind of.’
“Vandalieu’s subordinates are a problem. Undead, monsters, Vampires and other races created by Vida that are able to fight against physical incarnations of heroic spirits. With such subordinates at the Demon King’s disposal, any ill-prepared force we send will certainly be swept away before they can even reach the Demon King,” one god continued.
“But even if you say that, what can we do? If the Demon King returns to the other side of the Boundary Mountain Range, defeating him will become a truly hopeless prospect! We must vanquish him while he is still inside the Orbaume Kingdom… but even if we send the heroes that we have been nurturing, they will put up no resistance and simply die in vain…” another murmured in fear of Vandalieu’s powerful subordinates.
“Everything is strange to begin with. What are they? I can understand the Vampires. There are precedents of Noble-born Vampires surpassing Rank 13. I have heard that the ancestor of the Ghouls was the twin of the ancestor of the Vampires, so they likely had latent potential. And I can understand the carefully raised Undead specimens that are designated as disasters. But why is there a Skeleton who can slay a heroic spirit in a single strike, even if he had not undergone ‘Heroic Spirit Transformation’ at the time?! And why is there a plant-type monster, Ghosts of all kinds, and an Undead carriage that is able to travel between ordinary space and another dimension?! How are such subordinates even created?!” a third shouted, bewildered by the existence of Bone Man, Eisen, the Ghosts, and Sam.
“The fact that he is powerful and defeating him would be a near-impossible undertaking is something that we already knew! The more important thing is his mother! She has Vida’s divine protection and is respected by the city’s people as a ‘Holy Woman!’ This is a more troublesome problem than actual strength!” another god pointed out.
“Indeed. She has no influence outside of the city of Morksi and its surroundings yet, but at this rate, it may reach other duchies and even the entire Orbaume Kingdom. The balance of power will be completely overturned!” agreed another, fearing Darcia’s religious influence and its imminent spread across the land.
“The reincarnated individuals that Rodcorte was so proud of amounted to nothing more than this… Is his help not unneeded after all?” another god murmured, moving past the topic of Vandalieu and bringing up the issue of their cooperative relationship with Rodcorte.
This question sparked talk about the usefulness of the reincarnated individuals.
“That is a hasty judgment. Though Fitun-dono was defeated, he was only able to corner the Demon King as far as he did because he had incarnated within a reincarnated individual, was he not?”
“But in the end, because of that same reincarnated individual, Fitun-dono met that pitiful end that we all witnessed.”
There were many gods who belonged to Alda’s forces. Thus, this was not an orderly discussion of recent events; it was a disordered clashing of differing opinions.
That was how much of a great shock Fitun’s complete defeat had inflicted upon the gods.
Several months after Hajime’s reincarnation in Lambda, Fitun had slipped out of his Divine Realm, left Alda’s forces and acted as he pleased with no heed for the opinions of others.
Alda had given up on convincing Fitun to return, but he had left Fitun to his own devices with the expectation that he would be able to produce some results when he faced Vandalieu and his allies. At that point in time, the gods had thought that it would be difficult for Fitun to defeat Vandalieu.
Vandalieu was the Demon King that succeeded Guduranis, who had been capable of destroying even the great gods. It had seemed unlikely that a single god would be able to defeat such a foe.
But he would produce some results. He would take down some of the Demon King’s subordinates, and even if he did not take the Demon King’s life, he should at least be able to succeed in wounding him heavily or retreat without having his soul devoured.
The gods had expected at least this much from Fitun.
The god of records Curatos, who had been destroyed by Vandalieu, had been a close advisor of Alda’s and held an important position. However, he was unskilled in combat and was not supposed to be on the front line of battle.
Hihiryushukaka, the evil god of joyful life, had been one of the top-class evil gods among the remnants of the Demon King’s army. After taking a Pure-breed Vampire as his physical vessel, he had been in the same state as Fitun. But it could not be said that he had been proficient in combat.
Hihiryushukaka’s role had not been physical or magical combat. It had been using cunning methods to entrap his enemies, torturing and tormenting them to a slow death.
Thus, Hihiryushukaka had always fled from battles against the gods of Alda’s forces. It was surprising, but not incredibly shocking, that such a god had been defeated when facing the Demon King.
But Fitun was a god of war, not impaired in such ways. He had stood on battlefields as a mortal, and he had physically incarnated within a human body with which he could fully utilize his prowess in combat.
His weapons were not particularly deserving of praise, but they were two curved Orichalcum swords with Demon King equipment sealed within. His vessel had been one of the reincarnated individuals that Rodcorte was so proud of.
If he had faced evil gods that had once been in the Demon King’s army, he would have likely defeated and sealed them away unless there was an extremely powerful god.
And yet, he had been defeated and his soul devoured, failing to achieve anything to speak of. It was no wonder the gods were in an agitated and discomposed state.
If even Fitun had failed, could the Demon King even be defeated? Perhaps there were some gods that were beginning to doubt this.
But Nineroad, formerly a champion and currently a heroic god of the wind attribute, said in a sharp tone: “Calm yourselves!”
The gods stopped their unproductive discussions and turned their attention to her.
Alda, the god of law and fate, was looking upon the world with a sorrowful gaze in his eyes.
Nineroad looked away from the gods, faced Alda, knelt down and bowed. “Fitun has been destroyed, but it is I who found him and entrusted him to serve as the god of thunderclouds. I bear the responsibility for his numerous chaotic actions.”
The chaotic actions taken by Fitun – Nineroad was not referring to the fact that Fitun had left her and Alda to challenge Vandalieu on his own, nor was she referring to the fact that he had used one of the reincarnated individuals sent by Rodcorte.
The fact that he had been aware of the reincarnated individuals’ existence and remained silent about them was indeed problematic, but… in this case, Nineroad was referring to something else.
What she considered to be problematic was the fact that he had forcibly robbed Gordon, the Flame Blades and others of their free wills in order to use them as vessels for his heroic spirits, and the fact that he had taken the city as a hostage, regardless of being on the verge of defeat at the hands of Vandalieu and his subordinates.
It may be an exaggeration to say that such methods were unsurprising in wars between humans, but it could not be described as strange, either.
By sacrificing twenty or thirty people, fighting forces equivalent to Rank 12 to 14 monsters could be readied. A country faced with war would take such an option without hesitation if it were available.
Once war began, the sacrifices would number not in the tens, but in the thousands… perhaps even in the tens of thousands. Considering that, forsaking the lives of a mere twenty or thirty people to produce a powerful force that could end the war in its early stages would be an incredibly small sacrifice.
What’s more, in this case, the enemy was not an enemy nation. It was the Demon King and his subordinates.
During the war against the Demon King Guduranis, 90% of the entire population of Lambda at the time had been lost. Considering that, the lives of twenty or thirty individuals was an almost negligible sacrifice.
Fitun taking the city hostage was, again, not a rare tactic in wars between humans. Unlike on Earth and in Origin, there was no law of war in this world. Villages and cities would be plundered in large wars, and in some cases, completely destroyed with their inhabitants massacred… though admittedly, deliberately causing a monster rampage and setting the resulting horde of monsters onto a city was almost unheard of.
Directing a monster horde into an enemy nation would certainly produce results, but nothing would be gained from it, as monsters would take over the lands. In fact, it was highly likely that the monsters would then multiply and set their sights on the nation that began the rampage.
But as the enemy was the Demon King, it was a different matter entirely. If he could be defeated at the cost of turning a single city into a Devil’s Nest, even many humans would accept it.
Fitun’s actions were not problematic as a strategy for a human war. Thus, the problem… was the fact that Fitun was not a human, but a god.
He had been a legendary mercenary as a mortal, but as a god, he had been a god who fought against evil gods – the god of thunderclouds, under the command of the heroic god Nineroad, who served Alda, the god of law and fate.
He had been a god who was supposed to teach mortals what was right, to show them the gods’ ideals, to punish them at times and forgive them at others, leading them onto a better path.
Gods did not ask their believers to be dreamers that ignored reality or be overly optimistic.
The gods knew that their believers couldn’t sustain themselves on air, that they could not uphold the gods’ teachings at all times, and that there were times when they needed to commit the sins that the gods warned them about.
But there would be no hope for the world if the gods did nothing but explain the reality before the believers’ very eyes. The people would lose their knowledge of good and evil; they would no longer know what was the correct path; their hearts would fall into chaos and the world would face ruin.
That was why the gods constantly defined their teachings and strove to lead people onto a better path. That was what Alda and the gods serving him believed.
And yet, as a god, Fitun had declared war upon Vandalieu using the same methods that humans would use. That was the problem.
The gods began murmuring among themselves.
“Indeed. It would be a different matter if Fitun-dono’s teachings were of a sense of self-sacrifice, the importance of the devotion to offer up your life for the greater good, but…”
“To begin with, there wasn’t a single one among the vessels that offered up their body willingly. They were rendered disabled by the very god they worshiped so that their bodies could be used. It would not be an exaggeration to call this betrayal.”
Indeed, if Fitun had been a god whose teachings were of self-sacrifice and devotion, his actions could have been defended to some extent. But he had never taught anything like that. However, he had also never taught them the self-serving cruelty that he had shown in the battle against Vandalieu.
Fitun’s teachings had been about the importance of having the perseverance to continue improving oneself day by day, of valiance and bravery.
Ever since becoming a god, Fitun had concealed the lust for battle he had possessed as a mercenary.
That was exactly why his actions were so deeply sinful.
“I am willing to accept any punishment. You may even impale me with the ‘Stakes of Law’ and strip me of my divinity,” said Nineroad, offering to pay the price for Fitun’s sins.
But Alda shook his head. “There is no need for that, Nineroad. After all, the one who did not punish Fitun and let him do as he pleased is me. And it was also a failure on my own part that I did not realize his true intentions.”
“But –!” Nineroad began to protest.
“And in this current situation, we cannot afford to punish you,” Alda continued.
Nineroad was the leader of the wind-attribute gods, having taken the role from Shizarion, the god of wind and art, who had been destroyed by the Demon King Guduranis.
With the emergence of the Demon King Vandalieu, Alda’s forces were spending the days gathering their strength. They could not afford to pass a heavy punishment upon Nineroad, impaling her with the ‘Stakes of Law’ and stripping her of her divinity, when she held such an important position.
“Nineroad-dono, every god that has gathered here understands the extent of your sincerity. But I want you to understand that we must fill the gap that has been left by Fitun’s destruction, and that your atonement will be achieved through the defeat of the Demon King Vandalieu,” said Niltark, the god of judgment.
“… Understood, Niltark-dono,” said Nineroad, nodding and stepping back.
“But what will happen now?” asked Niltark, continuing the discussion. “If the humans learn of Fitun-dono’s actions, will they not all lean towards Vida’s faction? Vandalieu is concealing his true nature from them, and already has a grasp over the hearts of the city’s people.”
“Would the humans not be unaware that this incident was caused by Fitun-dono?” one god suggested optimistically. “Most of the heroic spirits were also defeated by the Demon King’s subordinates without being able to reach the city; only two of them were seen approaching the front gate by the city’s humans. Would this incident not be treated as though it were caused by a mere bandit attack, unrelated to the gods?”
Fitun had used the reincarnated individual Hajime as a vessel, while the heroic spirits had used adventurers such as Gordon and the Flame Blades. Ordinary humans had only been able to perceive them with the appearance of the vessels themselves.
The ‘Heroic Spirit Transformation’ and ‘God Transformation’ used by the heroic spirits and Fitun had not produced any visible signals such as pillars of light descending from the sky; from afar, the only difference visible was that their bodies glowed a little. They may have had a mystical appearance, but one could plausibly assume that they had cast light-attribute enchantments on themselves.
But Niltark rejected that view. “It is too optimistic to think that will be the case. Fitun took the Orichalcum weapons stored in his own Church… as well as Demon King equipment. This will likely confirm a connection between him and his Church.”
“Indeed… To that city’s people, this was a great incident. If a thorough investigation is conducted not only into the two heroic spirits that appeared at the front gate, but those who challenged Vandalieu as well… the truth will likely be revealed in the near future,” Nineroad agreed. “Even so, it is unlikely that they would realize that it was Fitun-dono himself, but… they may believe that the reincarnated individual named Hajime Inui was a hero who was nurtured by Fitun-dono. After all, many humans have become aware that many gods are currently nurturing heroes.”
“Would Vandalieu not absorb the Demon King equipment? If he does, then the connection to Fitun-dono could be concealed. No matter how influential he is in that city, without any evidence, his words will not be believed in other cities and other duchies!” the optimistic god said.
“Perhaps, but… either way, there will be no hiding the fact that this incident was related to Fitun from those with good eyes and ears,” said Alda. “Look for yourself – another statue of Fitun has crumbled like sand.”
Now that Fitun had been destroyed and his soul devoured, the statues of him were cracking, breaking and crumbling, one after another. And this was occurring more quickly and in more prominent ways in areas where the worship of Fitun was more widespread.
This was not limited to just the city of Morksi and the Alcrem Duchy. It was something that was occurring across the Orbaume Kingdom, across the Bahn Gaia continent, across the entire world of Lambda.
There was no social media or internet that allowed for the sharing of information in this world. But Fitun’s statues were being destroyed on a scale where such things were not necessary for the news to spread.
Those who were aware that the gods had been more active since several years ago would be particularly interested in this incident.
Pargtarta, the goddess of flow – the subordinate god who protected Peria, the goddess of water and knowledge as she continued to slumber – was not present at the gods’ meeting.
However, the young gods sent by Alda and the other gods as her ‘reinforcements’ had all headed for Alda’s Divine realm.
Pargtarta was the only one left here.
But there was a god who had concealed himself and come here after sensing that there were no longer any obstacles present.
“Welcome, Onee-sama,” said Pargtarta.
“… Since when have I been your older sister?” asked Ricklent with a frown. “I am indeed your superior, but you were once a familiar spirit created by my sister Peria, and now ascended as a god. It would be more correct to refer to me not as sister, but as aunt, or uncle. I am a god of both sexes, or neither.”
Ricklent often took the form of three beautiful women, or of three males – one elderly, one young adult and one young boy. This was a symbol of the present, past and future – in other words, a symbol of time.
Thus, the people considered Ricklent to be of both sexes or of neither.
“As always, your tone of speech is one of an aged being, Onee-sama,” Pargtarta remarked.
“… It seems that you have become more obstinate since we last met a hundred thousand years ago,” said Ricklent.
“So, what is your business here today? Have you come to compete in board games against my master Peria to win my heart?”
According to myths, Ricklent, the genie of time and magic, had taken a liking in Pargtarta and spent centuries challenging Peria in board games in order to have Pargtarta handed over to them.
But in truth, this was nothing more than fiction.
“It bewilders me that the myths fabricated by the humans while I slumbered are told as if they are truth. This is why a world ruled by mortals, where there is a distance between them and the gods, is very interesting,” said Ricklent.
Unlike the age during which the gods directly ruled over the people, it had become difficult for mortals to directly exchange words with the gods since a hundred thousand years ago. Thus, they had grown to invent an enormous number of myths and legends.
There were all kinds of reasons for this, such as misinterpretations of what had actually happened, and songs created by bards to be funny and amusing being told later as myths and legends.
“Interesting, you say?” asked Pargtarta.
“It is a phenomenon that did not occur when we gods resided upon the world’s surface. It is interesting indeed,” Ricklent replied. “Incidentally, the fact that you would mention something like that to befuddle me seems to indicate that the ‘flow’ is yet to come.”
“Yes, it seems that way. Though I do understand that if we desired to join your side, now would be the ideal opportunity.”
The young gods that would normally be in the way were not here, and the attention of Alda and his forces was focused on the chaos that Fitun had caused. This was the perfect chance for Peria to leave this place and join Vida’s faction.
But Peria showed no signs of movement. She likely believed that it was not the time yet.
“Then I shall return. There is no meaning in dragging Peria out by force if she does not have her own thoughts,” said Ricklent.
“Do you not believe that my master would decide to remain on Alda’s side?” asked Pargtarta.
“If I did, I would not have come to this place on my own. As I am now, you alone would be enough to pin me onto the ground.”
“Oh my. Is that an invitation, Onee-sama?”
“… You are persistent,” Ricklent sighed.
“I think the champion Ark would have been deeply knowledgeable about culture such as yuri and boy’s love, you know,” said Pargtarta.
“That was Solder.”
With that, Ricklent disappeared as if he were an illusion.
And thus ended the clandestine meeting that took place in the shadow of the meeting of Alda’s forces.

Murakami, Akira and Misa. Three reincarnated individuals.
Murakami and Akira tried to improve their Skills and Attribute Values in a diverse way within a short time.
Misa abandoned the thought of engaging in physical combat and aimed to specialize in the use of ‘Sylphid’ to gather information. As she acquired mage-type Jobs, she learned spiritual magic by chance – perhaps because she was reincarnated in the body of an Elf.
In order to shorten the time that he needed to acquire Skills, Murakami used his ‘Assignable Active Skill’ to acquire ‘Assassin Fighting Technique.’ Thus, he has not acquired the ‘Assassin Technique’ Skill that would normally be necessary to acquire ‘Assassin Fighting Technique.’
However, despite their efforts, the three of them managed to acquire Attribute Values equivalent to those of A-class adventurers, but their Skill Levels did not increase as they wanted them to. Their main combat skills remained un-awakened, so their overall strength was equivalent to B-class.
They received tremendous support from Rodcorte – rings to house familiar spirits so that they wouldn’t be destroyed by Vandalieu during their descent, and the ‘Emergency Escape: Suicide’ Skill that would allow them to commit suicide immediately to have their souls escape to Rodcorte’s divine realm. Murakami was even given the imperfect abilities ‘Pseudo-Gungnir’ and ‘Pseudo-Death Scythe,’ which Rodcorte put back together and repaired from their broken fragments. (The transfer of these abilities occurred when Murakami used the ‘Familiar Spirit Descent’ Skill.)
However, during the actual battle, the fighting was left to Murakami, who was the most capable among the three in close-quarters combat. Akira backed him up with predictions of the future using ‘Odin,’ while Misa used ‘Sylphid’ to try and exploit any gaps in Vandalieu’s defense.
As a result, they were defeated by Vandalieu without even managing to get a blow in.
Murakami’s Level being low, Akira being just on the verge of a Job change and Misa only having just undergone a Job change are all because the three of them have hit barriers in their development, preventing them from increasing their Levels any further.

I love how they barely criticize Fitun’s fucked up methods, and even then they are mostly worried that people would lean towards Vida’s faction, even though Van is apparently “concealing his true nature from them”.
I didn’t even know that I had any respect left for these clowns, but it probably just went into the negative.
Sailon
“To devour the heroic spirits before Fitun-dono’s very eyes…! Even if it was to strike fear into him and affect his mind, what a repulsive method!” another god said in criticism of what Vandalieu had done to mentally corner Hajime Fitun.
So Van action is repulsive but use the lives of innocents civillians is no repulsive, the logic of this gods sink faster then the titanic.
“If the humans learn of Fitun-dono’s actions, will they not all lean towards Vida’s faction? Vandalieu is concealing his true nature from them, and already has a grasp over the hearts of the city’s people.”
Again are whe gonna ignore the city with 30 000 people that almost dsy because of fitun and the fact Van protect them? Is not him hiding anything is you guys are disgusting even if he annouce he was Demon King and the action of Fitun who do you think people will treat as the real demon king the one attacking the cuty or the one defending? This gods of justice and ordem are more unjust and chaotix, that trickster gods.
Randy Rando
“Indeed. She has no influence outside of the city of Morksi and its surroundings yet, but at this rate, it may reach other duchies and even the entire Orbaume Kingdom. The balance of power will be completely overturned!” agreed another, fearing Darcia’s religious influence and its imminent spread across the land.
Vida’s religion is already highly influential despite having virtually no tangible benefits to do so. If you worship Alda you have a chance, however small, of getting a Devine protection and familiar spirit descent. The only reason to worship Vida is because you agree with her teachings. The fact that Vida has as many worshipers as she does shows that her teachings are more amiable and attractive for a wider portion of humanity than Alda’s. Everyone on Alda’a side is now terrified that support for Alda will plummet now that Van gas evened the playing field.
When one is accustomed to privilege, equality can feel like oppression. ~some smart wordsmith somewhere.

“I think the champion Ark would have been deeply knowledgeable about culture such as yuri and boy’s love, you know,” said Pargtarta.
well, well… look what kind of culture from another world little Bellwood wasn’t able to stop from spreading…

nice side chapter…
seems the water gods are getting more screentime
this makes me wonder about earth gods
JKingSniper
Damn these Gods really don’t deserve their position
Rasho
Really, none of them even tried to say that Van protected the city, not even Nineroad even tho she’s likely the most sane one among Aldumb’s faction
Chiu ChunLing
Frankly I have to say that anyone in Alda’s faction that participated in the war against Vida is categorically less sane than anyone who didn’t.
I’m including Fitun.
The gods that were raised after the war have no context for appreciating the conflict other than “Alda=Good/Vida=Evil”. And none of them would have been selected for elevation to godhood if they’d ever seriously doubted that paradigm…it’s made 100% clear in one of the earliest chapters that unquestioning belief that Vida=Evil is the primary selection criterion Alda applies.
That makes them a collection of natural dupes and fools, but it doesn’t make them insane (though obviously some of them aren’t, witness Fitun).
Nineroad was there for the war she chose Alda’s side, she participated, she wasn’t distracted like Farmaun, and she didn’t wake up and smell the brainwashing even after Bellwood was struck down by the Sin Chains.
Whatever she is, that’s NOT sanity.
Utsuho
When Farmaun talked to her, Nineroad claimed that it was too late to apologise to Vida’s side.
She though that Vida’s side would never forgive them for all they did. And for 50 thousand years, even without her witnessing it she was proven right, as Farmaun got every kind of pain as a way of attunement and while we know that he mainly is tolerated in Zantark side, the gods from talosheim side of the world still have to accept that he is an ally.
She is aware that she is not in the right, but she can’t move on as, to her, she is already too deep in it.
gg666
That just shows the weakness of her character. After awakening from his brainwashing, Farmaun realised how evil his actions were. He knew that what he had done was unforgivable, and he didn’t delude himself into thinking that others would forgive him. However, he had the strength to try and atone for his actions; he had the strength to at least try to climb out of the bottomless hole no matter how ‘deep’ he was in it. He accepted his wrongdoings and tried to fix them no matter how hard it was, even if by his own death.
Nineroad doesn’t possess this strength. With the excuse of “we’re too deep into it” and “Vida’s faction wouldn’t forgive us”, she maintained the status quo of committing even more atrocities against Vida’s races, because that was easier than trying to fix things. She’s not strong enough to accept her mistakes and atoning for them, because doing so means denouncing her very existence and accepting that she was just as evil as the Demon King, if not more. She’s simply not capable of that, so she continues to do what she has been doing. That’s why she and Alda are the biggest hypocrites of this story.
Chiu ChunLing
I think that actually Hihiryushukaka achieved that distinction with his final denunciation of Van as being “just as bad.” But that was nothing more than anyone should have expected, though that itself makes it hard to understand what kind of person wouldn’t realize it.
The thing that makes Alda’s hypocrisy so monstrous is that he was never supposed to be in charge of MAKING the law, only in charge of enforcing it. It was always up to the other great gods to decide on what the laws should be. By appointing himself judge and jury as well as executioner, Alda stepped far beyond his legal powers, and became a god of organized crime, not a god of law.
But Nineroad is different…she wasn’t originally a god, or even a believer if I recall. That makes her hypocrisy the most relatable in a way…she’s basically an atheist who’s playing god to escape culpability for her own bad choices.
Still, I feel like Heinz is still in the running for the sheer chutzpa of his hypocrisy even if it hasn’t reached the realm of being a literal god of hypocrisy. We’ll see, though.
Korath
Doesnt fit their narrative of their political agenda. Just like in RL. 🙂
BeiBei G6
Are these guys stupid? They overlook some of Fitun actions what while Criticizing Vandalieu’s actions as truly evil. Did they not see what that battle junkie just tried to do!?
Vitor
Yes, they are, that’s why they are on Alda’s side
Kerlark Dgrayman
“…he was only able to corner(lol) the Demon King as far as he did because he had incarnated within a reincarnated individual”
Man, to think their acting would reach their side as well. Van-sama is really incredible at making his enemies lower their guard.
Vitor
Kanako’s lessons paid off
Zvasvida
During the war against the Demon King Guduranis, 90% of the entire population of Lambda at the time had been lost. Considering that, the lives of twenty or thirty individuals was an almost negligible sacrifice.
Yea you’re just meathead bunch who brute force everything by overcome your enemy with power
Reiji
Okay, hear me out. This might be a little bit off topic so here it goes:
A new Isekai Quartet but with:
Rimuru Tempest
Vandalieu Zakkart
Nagumo Hajime
Ainz Ooal Gown
Imo, I’d Love to see that.
Chiu ChunLing
Not enough diversity.
What made Isekai Quartet fun was that the characters all have different roles. You have the super OP but morally grey (lawful evil) Ainz, the wacky hijinks chaotic non-evil bunch, the desperately cornered non-good soldiers, and the sucktastic invincibility good group.
Redoing it with a bunch of OP Demon Lords is way too narrow even before considering that one of them has already appeared.
It’s true that Ainz is the only one who can be really called “evil” (rather than at least neutral) by ordinary standards. He’s also the least personally OP in absolute terms (though he has the benefit of a bunch of subordinates who aren’t any weaker than himself and some who are definitely stronger).
So it’s not like there wouldn’t be anything interesting, but it wouldn’t be a real quartet. Van and Rimuru are especially redundant to each other in morality, and Van and Nagumo couldn’t be confined to another world anyhow, they’d just leave everything in the ‘capable hands’ of Rimuru and Ainz and bug out to their own worlds again.
Hobbes
Take out Nagumo Hajime, put in Satou or Shiro (the spider MC).
OK
Thanks for the chapter when is the release of the next chap?

I noticed a small error in the translation, Misa is having two versions of Wind-Attribute Magic, one passive and one active, I went to see it on Raw and found out that the passive version should be Wind-Attribute Resistance.
ExplodingPenguinDood
Can Alda just use his Fate god powers to alter his chosen hero to not be killed by Van or his forces? Was it ever shown or explained how would it work?
Makes sense that Rod passed out from pain considering how cozy his life have been up to now, suddenly feeling pain of any kind will magnify the pain.
Doc
I don’t think that’s how it works. Like Peria is the god of water and knowledge. That means she has authority over the water attribute for Lambda. However I don’t believe she has like special knowledge powers. Alda’s main thing is law and judgment. His authority is in policing the other gods to uphold their duty in protecting the world. His tools for doing that is his stakes. The “fate” aspect I think has less to do with like controlling destiny or whatever and more that he’s the arbiter of the world’s fate or safety (a job he’s doing an extremely poor job of doing. Dude was just laying back for tens of thousands of years allowing evil gods to build up power)
Lord Rin
He doesn’t have any power over Fate. He’s just called the God of Light and Fate after he stole Vida’s authority over Life. It’s all just so he can seem greater than he really is and justify him being the Chief of Gods.
InfernoHomura
These gods need to chill, the boy just wants to be an honorary noble and be rich, not something grand as taking over the world XD
Doc
I’m not sure about wanting to be rich, and the only reason he wanted to be a noble was to make it more difficult for the eventual bravers who reincarnate in Lambda to have a justification to kill him, if Van’s protected by a country’s status. Which probably no longer matters now that Van has become this much of a threat to Alda and Rodcorte, being a noble wouldn’t stop them from going after him.
Really all Van wants is peace and to spend time with his mom and friends
Lord Rin
It’s not even that he wants to be a noble. He just wants some form of legal status which is why he’s been doing all this work to be able to join the Adventurer’s Guild in a way where he doesn’t have to show them his stats and stuff.
Jonathan Hurd
To be exact what Van wants is very simple. He wants to be happy. He spend over thirty years of combined life being abused and tortured so he just wants happiness.
Now to get that happiness means a few things to him. One being to indulge in luxuries that his uncle in his first life with held. To get luxuries you need cash. Spend times with his loved ones and enjoy his hobbies of playing games and appreciating muscles.
Admittedly he has been aiming to become a noble but that’s only really been as a social shield. Originally that wasn’t a terrible idea, but thanks to how determined Alda and Rodidiot are to kill him there’s not much point now. Now the goal is to protect the happiness he has finally gained. That means killing everyone who is a threat to that happiness.
Amusingly, Van has reached a similar point as Alda and Rodidiot. As long as the other party lives they’ll never truly feel safe. So the only option they all have is to kill their opponent. Admittedly this situation only happened because Alda and Rodidiot started half heartedly to kill Van and he eventually gained power to fight back.
Paps
Lack of training was their undoing!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the chapter.
ReignGuard
I still can’t believe they decided to fight Vandeliu with such a measly number of classes. You need at least 20 completely mastered classes to be a threat.
Jonathan Hurd
They probably do need over 20 classes to fight Van, but to get to that level they really need more Divine Protection than just Rodidiot. I think Schneider got close to 20 without Vidas blessing and he was a one in a million superman.
Ltshrek
Hmmmmmmm balanced?since when? I mean they control 90% of that world sooo i doubt the balance the balance they talking about. Is the “Balance” I’m familiar of
nadirku
like the saying “when you are in a position of privilege/power any move towards equality seems like oppression”, right?
Kiriaru
Thanks for the chapter! Greatly enjoyed.
gomezseba37
This preety much confirms that if van fought rodcorte right now he would win. rodcorte cant tolerate pain, he even passed out and has no combat skill whatsoever
Doc
Yep, figured from the last part that Alda’s side wouldn’t give a damn that Fitun threatened to destroy an entire city of Alda believers or that Van was protecting them thus indicating that he isn’t a threat to this world. It amazes me that not one of Alda’s subordinates or Alda himself have realized that Van has never taken an aggressive action against his side from his own initiative. He has only ever defended himself from them which should make it clear as day that he is not the same as the previous Demon King nor is he a threat to the world. But, since they’re all blinded by Alda’s stupidity I guess that’s par for the course.
At least Nineroad was properly regretful of Fitun’s shitty tactics though even she was more appalled at Fitun hijacking peoples’ free wills and less his decision to wipe out a city of humans.
Ozarazil
Niltark: “He’s concealing his true nature” dude if the world wasn’t out to kill him thanks to the stupid teachings of Alda and Bellwood nothing would’ve happened. The only enemies that Van would’ve had would’ve been the evil gods and vampires. But no, time and time and time again you keep sending people after van to kill him and when your assassins get murdered “oh he’s a monster, he didn’t let us kill him” hahahaha Niltark are you really 100.000 years old?
gomezseba37
being old doesent mean being smart. look at rodcorte for fuck sake.
he existed even BEFORE lambda and he is an idiot that never did anything beside the task handed to him and the one time he did something like reincarnating the souls from earth into origin he forgot to tell them that they would reincarnate on a different world again and to not fight beween them. he confused a humans name and let him without fortune or destiny and didnt even check his soul so he accidentally sent the super amalgam of 5 fragments of legendary heroes into the world he tried to make sure he didnt go in again and after putting hum through the suffering of living a life without fortune nor destiny he cursed him and sent him to his death like what the fuck even his own familiar spirits think he is an idiot
Eddy
To be honest, they have the same problem as cultivators, they live so long that they do not reflect on life nor do they usually learn much until they find out that they are on the verge of death, only that in the case of gods created as curates as they have an instinct natural to do such a thing, they ignore everything that has nothing to do with it
Hakuro1010a
And so finishes the god of thunder’s arc. For all his jerkish actions Fitun ended up being a surprisingly interesting character, coming up with many creative ways to use his abilities through sheer pragmatism (really, he was better at using marionette than Hajime himself and even got around the fact that its original usage of controlling people is almost ineffective in Lambda) and also had a nice backstory that shows what happens when you force a warrior to deal with bureaucracy for aeons. I’m still surprised he was the one who understood the extent to which Van-sama would go to protect the city while Hajime immediately assumed he would eventually sacrifice it after regaining control.
By the way, kudos to the ‘some kind of’ god for at least trying to ascertain what Van-sama did while everyone else rightfully panicked.
gomezseba37
yeah I thought fitun and the reincarnated individuals would get absolutely destroyed in one attack but they actually managed to put up a decent fight with a lot of strategies. but they lost and with that the threats to van are gone the only threat remaining are heinz and his party wich got absolutely destroyed by van ALONE and even if they regained their strenght thats probably going to take a few months or even years.
so the only threat remaining for van are them alda´s gods and maybe a few evil gods.
Lord Rin
Well I’d say only Fitun gave a somewhat decent fight. Murakami’s group were barely even a blip on Van’s radar before they got killed and their souls devoured.
Speaking of threats don’t forget that Rodcorte in his infinite stupidity has decided to fix Edgar’s soul with bits of Guduranis’ soul. And this is even after Alda specifically told him not to do anything extra to Edgar’s soul when repairing it. A Guduranis-infused Edgar is probably going to be a major threat to Van given how Van is technically stealing away Guduranis’ body from him.
bk3k
Yes anyone (but Rodcorte) can easily guess that what he did to Edgar is going to blow up. But I’ll only say this… ultimately it will be worse than you think. Rodcorte isn’t done making serious mistakes, and they compound. But as for what will happen as a result, that’s just too much of a spoiler to even if I used the spoiler tags.
Superboy8338
Thanks for the update.

Can’t wait for Van kill Ricordiot and Aldunce.

Thank u always for ur great work…

veradux1223
Its funny how Ricklent is always so chill
Entropy
Thanks for the chapter. So Rodcorte can take his curses being damaged, but passes out from some familiar spirits being destroyed. Fitun’s death was similar to his fight short and barely worth mentioning at least to Alda’s fraction. I doubt Pargtarta is loyal to Alda or about to join Van’s side. I suspect her loyalties lie to her sleeping goddess and she is simply waiting to see what she decides in the future. So she is probably neutral in the upcoming war whereas the evil gods are against Alda and Vida unless they join with Vida. I do wonder how many on Alda’s side will abandon ship. Maybe they will pull what the evil gods did before them and find a new world to be worshipped on or join Vida. I do suspect Alda, Nineroads, the justice god, Rodcorte and the one who put a piece of himself in that ice spear, I think his name was Yupeon or something like that, will always be anti Van. The others are up in the air or throw away pieces.
Eddy
yupeon is and will always be Van’s enemy, he was the guy who cost him 5 more years to revive his mother and insult her, peace was never an option
Entropy
I agree with you, but Van is pretty forgiving. I am looking at how he acts around the bravers that abandoned him and then killed him as soon as they reunited. He is live and let live, although Yupeon’s other half did burn that bridge pretty badly. I do suspect that a few gods will betray Alda such as the one of music and possibly a few others considering the magical musical girls of Vida.
Jonathan Hurd
There’s levels of Van’s forgiveness. People like Yupeon, Alda, Heinz, and the pure breed vampires who hurt his mother and killed his father. Those people will never be forgiven.
Van’s not so mad about the Bravers and more with Rodidiot because they really had no clue who Van was. It was Rodidiot who didn’t give Van any help or tell them anything because of laziness.
Jonathan Hurd
I suspect Peria is on Van’s side. If she was going to stay in the Neutral camp I don’t think there was any reason for her to give someone on Van’s side her Divine Protection. It would make more sense to continue to pretend to be asleep. Let Alda and Van fight it out and then wake up after the battles over. The fact that she gave out a Divine Protection to Van’s side made only Vida’s side aware that she is actually faking sleep.
I think she’s not moving right now because there isn’t really anything to gain from doing so. She could join Vida’s side, but that about does it. If she stays pretending to be asleep Partaga can continue getting info out of Alda’s young gods while standing guard. It also prevents Alda becoming even more desperate and reckless as long as he thinks he still has at least two of the Original big Gods on his side.
Doc
I personally think it’s more the last point you bring up that’s the motivation for why Peria is faking being asleep. I mean sure, she gets little benefit for picking a side now but that could be said for Ricklent and Zuruwarn as well. What did they get from backing Vida so soon? No, if she were to switch at this moment I think Alda would panic and because Peria is likely on Van’s side it makes more sense to let Van continue to increase his and his companions’ strength. Losing Fitun was a blow but he was still a relatively new god and this will just cause Alda’s side on focusing even more on training their chosen heroes (and waking up Bellwood). If Peria switched sides now, Alda’s side may have went into full descend into Lambda right this moment mode which Van could probably not deal with yet.
Jonathan Hurd
I definitely agree with you that a truly cornered Alda is going to be a dangerous beast. There is no telling what they might decide to do, if even his more rationale sister leaves, to prove he is right.
For Ricklent and Zuruwarns defection I think that one had pretty big significance. They broke cover by helping get the Eighth Guidance to Van. This then helped prove to Van they are allies so he allowed worship of them in his city. That then offered a way into the Boundary Mountain range so they could talk to Vida and connect more directly with Van.
There were definitely big risks to their moves when they revealed themselves, but I feel equally big rewards. It helped increase the twos amount of worshippers from Vidas side. It also allows them to pass info to Vida and Van as they spy which is a giant plus. Considering the majority of Vidas worshippers are disconnected from human society. If they hadn’t risked themselves I don’t think they could of proven to Van that they are allies.
Peria on the other hand seems to be in a much better position to change things if she stays where she’s at behind enemy lines. She’s not as magic inclined as Rinklent or able to move space like Zuruwarn.
Entropy
Another reason she is pretending to be asleep is that she is trying to regain her power. A few of the deities were weakened enough after that last war and Alda could be stronger than her at the moment. Plus, she has no idea of who is and is not loyal to her. The goddess of the flow is loyal but yupeon will betray her to Alda as soon as he can. The same thing that happened to Nineroad with Fitun could easily repeat itself with her. Although she may want to stay out of another war, Alda is not the type to allow her to. She will eventually pick a side and I do agree that her message and blessing show which side she is leaning towards.
Doc
“Regaining power” is not really a reason to fake being asleep. The gods obtain power through mortals worshipping them. Peria as one of the great gods will have more worshippers than lesser gods. Her being asleep or awake doesn’t change the amount of power she gets. In fact being awake would be better for getting power because then she could give divine messages and protections telling her followers that she’s awake and receptive to more followers.
You’re correct she would be weaker than Alda but that’s because all the gods are weaker than Alda at this point. He made it through the most unscathed from the previous two conflicts (Demon King War, and fighting Vida’s side) and through divine messages, weakened Vida worship while strengthening the number of Alda worshippers giving him a much larger % of the worship energy than any other god.
So while it’s certainly true Peria wouldn’t want to face Alda in her current state, none of the gods on Vida’s side would want to face Alda head on. They’re still trying to build up strength while supporting Van who’s taking a more active role in their fight because Alda keeps forcing Van to deal with him.
Darkhelios
True, by being awake, Peria would probably gain more energy and restore her strength faster. However I believe you also need to take another point into consideration: Energy consumption.
Alda’s faction were gaining quite a lot of energy thanks to their worshippers. More than Vida’s. But they also had to use the said energy to maintain the world and the seals on Guduranis fragments & other Evil Gods.
But gods on Vida’s side are now able to keep their energy consumption to a minimum thanks to Van being able to eat Guduranis fragments & Evil Gods.
By pretending to be asleep, Peria is able to keep her own energy consumption to 0. Other gods are maintening the world in her stead as she was asleep for x time. Same thing for the seals. If she were to reveal that she’s now awake, Alda would probably ask her to do some work = more worshippers… but more energy consumption as well.
Jonathan Hurd
That’s a good point. I think Peria still has a decent section of followers since Aldas group wouldn’t oppose her worship. They’d probably encourage it hoping it would help wake her up. Alda probably assumes she would side with him after waking considering his personality. So it definitely makes sense for Peria to lay low and continue collecting free power right now instead of setting off an internal war in her own church.
Death God
Little tidbit three Gods will leave in the chaps to come.
As for Nineroad I generally believe she does not hate Van like Farmaun she seems to express some remorse, but not willing to backtrack and abandon ship like Farmaun but chose to maintain the world.
From previous chaps she is the only one who is not calling Van evil or showing racism towards Vida’s races. She even asked Alda if he can do something about without killing all of the races connected Vida’s circle. Frankly in this chap she is the only one who called out Fituns evil deeds as a God as was willing to accept the highest punishment for a God while everybody just complained how Van and co didn’t die.
Nox
Thanks for the chapter.
Alda and his forces watching how Fituns statues crumble to dust as they discuss how to handle Van-sama is pricless. Alda and his forces are hypocrits. Fitun attacked a human city with monster rampage and Van-sama protected them but none of them mentioned it and just critized Fitun and this only a little bit.
Eddy
for them it does not matter if Van is good or bad, as long as he is a “threat” to their world, they must stop him. Ironically Van acts and thinks similar about Heinz, only that he admits that he wants to kill him solely out of hatred and paranoia and is not willing to lower himself to Heinz’s level (except with martina’s corpse, Van had been planning to use it against Heinz for years but was offended A lot when he thought that Heinz used one of Darcia, but hey, it’s Darcia, Van wouldn’t even allow his children to insult her)
Sinfulmass
I can’t wait to see what that sleeping water god is going to do. Any ideas?
Eddy
Well, she’s not asleep that long, because she already sent a message to Juliana which means that at least she must be in a similar state to our duo (septet?) of crazy people and at worst to our goddess of life
bk3k
Well she has slept since the era of Guduranis’s rampage, thus she was also sleeping during the time Alda attacked Vida.
she’s been faking sleep for 50,000 years since she doesn’t want to join up with Alda. And currently the Vida gods are behind a barrier, so she just pretended to still sleep.
Lord Rin
Ha! What a scrub Rodcorte is. Screams like a wuss and then passes out. Honestly I kinda hoped he’d take more damage like losing a chunk of his personality or get mind broken or something. I mean this is the guy who flinched after getting a bite so weak from Zuruwarn that it couldn’t even break the skin and only left some temporary red marks so losing 3 familiar spirits and 3 reincarnated individuals with his divine protection should do some major damage. I do recall how the gods of Origin had been worried that they would be hurt if Van devoured the souls of Bravers that they had bestowed their divine protection to in order to combat Rikudou. Now Rodcorte is in the same situation that Origin’s gods had been worried about only that he can’t resolve it like they did by giving Van their divine protection. Well anyways maybe he might exhibit more damage once he regains consciousness.
I feel like no matter how carefully Aran and the others explain things to Asagi, he’s gonna flip his shit and try to pull a Kouki.
It is very satisfying to see Alda’s forces freaking out over Van’s victory against Fitun and they have no idea what to do. Also I guess Nineroad is a horrible judge of character since she said she’s the one who found Fitun and assigned him the role of God of Thunderclouds. I’d always assumed that it was Alda who’d decided it instead.
I honestly feel like Pargtarta is the female version of Gin Ichimaru. Always smiling and with a polite but vaguely mocking or playful tone while also concealing their true goal from their supposed ally. It was funny how she calls yuri and BL as ‘culture’ though. I don’t remember who Ark and Solder where the champions of so I don’t know if Ricklent or Peria should become the god of yuri and BL.
Looking at Murakami’s group’s stats and skills and all I can say is that they’re mediocre. It boggles my mind how they thought that they could assassinate Van with such mediocre skills. I mean Van is a guy they know routinely fights god-level opponents and can even survive getting his head cut off yet they thought that they could kill him with common un-awakened skills and jobs. If they had some awakened skills or a rare/superior/unique job then I could have understood why they’d have confidence in killing Van but they got nothing.
Thk
They realized they probably wouldn’t get a better chance.
Superboy8338
Don’t you mean Asagi would pull a Naruto.
Doc
Pulling a Kouki is in reference to Arifureta. One of the characters in that story has a misguided view on justice and tends to skew whatever people are saying into that misguided view of justice. So Lord Rin is suggesting Asagi is going to hear that Van devoured the souls of 3 reincarnators and completely miss the context that they were actively trying to kill him and immediately set out to stop Van like Kouki would have done.
Who Cares
Not just actively trying to kill him but Van just found out that he cannot let their soul go or they and the unique skill associated with them will be back to try to kill him again.
Granted there is a good chance Van would have eaten their souls anyhow seeing that it is an upgrade to the break soul effect he used earlier.
Jonathan Hurd
This is Rodidiot we’re talking about. There is no way he would ever put enough of himself near Van to cripple himself. He definitely lost some power thanks to this, but he is also the God who has probably stock piled the most power out of anyone so I don’t think this will necessarily stop him, but it might make him hesitate to give out more power fighting Van. The image of him frothing and eyes rolling in the back of his head makes me smile though, lol.
I think the situation with Origin’s God is a little bit special overall. They work as one massive collection of Gods and don’t usually give out their power. They need to give some to stop Hijiri, but they also didn’t want to hinder Van or take friendly fire from him. Part of it for them is that they are going to take the power back after the Hijiri situation is taken care of. So having Van act as a tunnel works out well for them too if they lose the chance to take it back.
Considering the summary at the end I think I better understand why Murakami’s group made such a desperate attack. I do think part of it is overconfidence in their Cheat Abilities, but I think the deciding factor was their stalling growth. Considering Van keeps making massive leaps in strength each time he comes back out and realizing you’re not getting stronger with time. The sooner you attack the better because the gap between you two just keeps getting bigger.
Dyneamaeus
This is an excellent point, and might be the single most terrifying thing about Van. From what we’ve been told simply receiving a single Guider Job lets an individual lead their group into legendary status, and Van has gotten what, 4? Based on that it’s not terribly surprising that he and his people seem to grow without limit, but no one outside of Van’s inner circle knows he has them.
Jonathan Hurd
We should also remember that Van is not only leading his city full of subjects, but just about everyone on the Boundary Mountain Range side, lol. He doesn’t just have quality, but also amazing quantity of followers being supported by him.
Death God
Solder was Peria’s champion who had a complex with Macho man and also a science major. Who coincidentally thought Zod some science to master his muscle techniques, with him being a lump of muscle that must have been hard for her.
With her complex it’s not surprising she’s into Yuri and BL. As for Ark don’ t remember him much aside from he was Ricklent’s champion.

Asagi will definitely flip once he finds out what happened. He’s the same dude that worries that the death magic is dangerous and should be elliminated, when it’s Van’s only power and basically the foundation upon which his whole nation was built.
Nobody2
I really do wonder what Peria is waiting for. It seems pretty much decided by this point that she will join Vida and van but despite this being the seemingly perfect opportunity she’s not taking it. It might be something about botin like another person said but what else could it be
Sinfulmass
I’m hoping she’s going to be a double agent and hit Alda where it hurts when he least excepts it.
Entropy
I suspect that she will join whatever side her sleeping goddess decides on or remain neutral. Right now she has done nothing to attack Vida nor has she really aided Alda so she might sit this war out. Vida will probably be cool with this but Alda seems like the type that will say either you are with me or against me.
Tejing
Nobody2 said “Peria”, not “Pargtarta,” Entropy. Peria is the sleeping goddess.
Entropy
My bad, I stand by my earlier statement. Peria will probably be neutral. I think she was the the goddess I was referencing as Pargtarta’s superior if she is the goddess of water and is currently asleep. I do suspect that several of her familiar gods will betray her to join Alda’s faction including Yupeon. I am betting there will be four factions, Vida’s, Alda’s, neutral, and Evil Gods out for themselves. What is funny is that Alda will declare war on all three of the other factions.
Nobody2
I think Peria might be pretending to sleep at this point. Since didn’t she send Juliana a divine message
Entropy
If she is pretending that should be answer enough that she wants nothing to do with Alda and my theory is probably correct about her not wanting to be involved in the war. I might have thought the message was from a familiar of hers using Peria’s name in that fashion.
gomezseba37
yeah she is probably on the verge of waking up
Jonathan Hurd
Peria is the Goddess of water.
I think she’s already shown she is leaning towards Vida’s side. The fact that she gave Juliana a Divine Protection and a message makes it pretty clear she is trying to at least communicate with Vida and Van while she’s remaining hidden completely from Alda.
I can basically agree with the Neutral party. I think you could be put Zantark and his group in that group. Though to be honest they’re less neutral and more conserving strength for preserving the world. Just about everyone in the neutral party is basically a Vida supporter but trying to avoid total world annihilation.
unmellow
Peria and/or Pargtarta could also be planing to steal the elements and manage them themselves having a neutral party
manage the elements would benefit Vida alot imo
ravelphenex
she’s maybe not on aldiot or vida’s side. maybe she wants to reign supreme as the leader of the gods once aldiot and vida’s side worn out after the war. or maybe she will wait until more and more gods on aldiot’s side trust to wave and bring them all in one fell swoop to vida’s side or as i mentioned earlier take them by herself. anyway whatever she will do, i believe it will not be good on aldiot’s side.
Jonathan Hurd
I can’t imagine her taking supreme reign. To keep the world going you need many Gods of various attributes. The majority of Gods are on Vida’s or Alda’s side. I can’t imagine she would be able to convince enough Gods to follow her if she backstabs both leaders and tries to set herself on the throne.
I’m more with the idea she will start collecting all the potential defectors on Alda’s side and make a massive switch with all of them when Alda least suspects it.
Lord Rin
The world wasn’t set up for any god to reign supreme over the others. That’s why Ricklent and Zuruwarn think Alda is insane for setting himself up as the self-styled chief of gods. Also a single god can’t govern all the elements. When Alda stole Vida’s authority over life, he had to create a bunch of new life-attribute subordinate gods to help him oversee the life attribute because he isn’t good with controlling that attribute. Peria is the goddess of water and knowledge so she should know very well that trying to govern all the attributes herself and reign as the supreme god is a stupid and insane idea.
Anyways I think it’s pretty safe to say that Peria is on Vida’s side. Otherwise there’s no point in her going out of her way to give Juliana both a Divine Message and her Divine Protection if she’s going to remain neutral. She’s probably just biding her time pretending to be asleep either until she sees that enough gods want to defect and they all do it at once or maybe she’s waiting until Botin awakens from her seal so they can both defect together or at least for Botin to escape from Alda’s grasp if Botin decides to be neutral since who knows what he might do to Botin if he gets paranoid because another great god has sided with Vida. Zantark, Zuruwarn and Ricklent have already sided with Vida so if Peria does too then Alda might think Botin would too and he might do something drastic like use the Stakes of Law on her while she’s defenseless in her seal.

Lord Rin
Peria and Ricklent need to figure out who’s gonna be the god of yuri and BL.
VEreality
Waaaaaaiiiiit a second. Hold up the phone. Does this mean that Solder was bisexual(nothing against anyone who is) or was she simply a weeb/otaku? Because they make her look like somwhat a little perv and Van has a part of her soul so I am curious.
Soulzer1
Welp guess we know why Van is getting/has a harem.
Eddy
I would say that more of the latter (the champions of creation were all geeks) and perhaps also the former, also, although it is said that he did not like muscular males, the fact that he has known so much about muscles and that he has dedicated himself Helping Zod train his own tells me that she may have been a full muscle lover of both women and men just like Van, but since she was shy she wouldn’t admit it.
VEreality
Hmmmmmmmmmmm! This is where we need a conspiracy theory board. This right here is something worth wasting time on. BRB!!!!!!!

I mean considering that one of the Creation Heroes told people about Ninja’s basically using Naruto as a basis. I think the creation heroes were weebs/otaku’s big time. I still love that Myuse’s dream is to become a true ninja by summoning a giant frog, hahaha.

VEreality
Give it a couple of chapters where Ricklent does something. We will have some dirth on her too. By the way, am I the only one that thinks that this guys seem soooooooo…. human and relatable despite not knowing anything about their personality.
gomezseba37
yeah. Im kind of waiting for bellwoods awekening and I see it going 3 ways
1-he immediatly wants to destroy van with alda wich would be preety lame tbh
2-he has reflected uppon his actions and wants peace between vida´s faction and their faction. this is the most reasonable option a full war between factions right now would leave the world on the verge of destruction is just not worth it
3-wants to join van for some reason (you would really have to force this ngl)
Jonathan Hurd
Option one happening is still my guess. Number three I can’t even imagine, lol. I think the only way three could happen is if he pulls off two and makes peace between Vida and Alda.
I can’t imagine any reason he would just straight up leave Alda after waking up. Even if he is overcome with guilt and wants to repent it makes more sense to start by convincing Alda.
Doc
Yeah, I gotta say I don’t see Bellwood feeling regretful or joining Van either. The way Bellwood has been built up so far is as Alda’s ace in the hole. I don’t see a future where he doesn’t end up fighting Van. Now whether he’s as unreasonable as Alda is and is beyond Van eventually talking sense into him (after battle of course), that’s a maybe. Some people seem to have a much worse impression of Bellwood than I had from his short passages in the story so I think he could be talked down without the soul devouring from Van.
Jonathan Hurd
I can definitely see some kind of conversation and then battle between Bellwood and Van. Probably relating to Vans past selves as the Creation Heroes. No clue how the after fight would go without reading what Bellwoods personality is currently like. Somethings could have changed after being sealed for 50k years.
bk3k
I don’t intend to spoil that, but I will say I found it VERY satisfying. I really do look forward to seeing it properly translated. However we won’t get to that for a long time 🙁
JeKeBe
Ahhh, so much to unpack in this chapter, but the main highlight was, naturally, Rodoofus squealing like a little girl and passing out. I had been hoping the destruction of his personally-bestowed fragments of power would cause him pain, and lo and behold! Since that didn’t really happen the last time, I’m guessing that it has something to do with the difference between shattering a soul and devouring it, in that he could previously retrieve the fragments and this time… nom nom nom.
I also find the gathering of gods amazing, and not in a good way. They had one of their members go rogue, forcefully possess people, and send out enough force to destroy the city of thousands, but the only part they had a problem with was the possession… haaaah… these gods really aren’t any better than Roderp in terms of morality.
Anyways! Thanks for the chapter! This was grrrreeat! All hail Lord Van-sama!
Superboy8338
You forget that their world is primitive to ours, they’re still in their medieval era where they don’t really have any rules to fighting a war.
Eddy
To be honest, we are not better either, with all Lambda, although it is known to maintain a status quo and keep the number of casualties to a minimum
Doc
For the record, rules of engagement and “war etiquette” have existed for thousands of years. Sure there have been plenty of times in history where those “rules” weren’t followed but that doesn’t mean rules for war are a modern invention. In fact war in Midieval times was sometimes nicer than modern war. Prisoners of war, especially knights or members of nobility were often treated very well by their captors and would be ransomed back to their country/territory. Often wars would be declared publicly with a long response period so that other countries would know the justification for it, as war usually needed a proper justification.
Also a “rout” in Midieval battle terms would have been like 5 to 10% of the forces brought to battle. So a retreat would have been called long before substantial number deaths happened. This is why WWI was one of the deadliest conflicts in human history as it was the first time war had such large casualties on all sides.
Darkhelios
Correct. I will simply add to that, that during Medieval times, nobles were usually trying to wait until the harvest was over to do their battles.
This is also one of the reason why wars were publicly declared with a long response period: In order to let both sides finish their preparation.
For sure, attacking during the harwest (& destroying it) would cause considerable damage to the enemy… but this is true for both side. No one wanted to start a famine in their own country/territory.
Moreover, as you said, Mediaval wars tend to do less death and one of the reason for that is also the harvest. Most armies had a lot of conscript soldiers/farmers. Losing too many of those could lead to a famine as well.
Even for the winner, killing too many of the opponent’s farmers in a war wasn’t a good thing to do. First because starving people could go to your territory, reducing its public order. Second because you needed them to be alive if you were to gain some lands.
With the Industrial age, those rules became less important as it was easier to provide a lot of food in a small amount of time. It was also possible to make use of the colonies in order to bring back food to the mainland if needed. So wars changed too. More efficient. More cruel.
In the end, modern rules were created for the same reason as medieval ones: To protect your own country from this effectiveness.
Who Cares
There was a very good reason to attack close to the end of the harvesting season, no need to bring food. Which is why that was usually the point that attacks did happen.
With the industrial age we managed to industrialize war. WW1 happened and took so long because both sides thought they were unique in that, as the Germans reasoning why they’d win that war in 6 weeks showed. Then it went into siege mode where again both sides thought they were the ones doing the siege against the other side, just not against a single fortress or city but hundreds of miles worth of ‘wall’. It didn’t help that both sides still thought in Napoleon style tactics of lining up the army and (pretend) to be shooting at the other instead of having new tactics that worked with the new equipment and amount of manpower available.
And if we talk about the rules, they are created by the winners and selectively enforced. If not a significant number of the British and United States top brass plus quite a few politicians would have been sentenced at Nuremberg (that wasn’t just judging the people that tried to genocide the Jews and similar atrocities but also went after the group that committed war crimes).
Jonathan Hurd
To me it seems like Alda’s group was against how underhanded Fitun’s methods were. They would be fine to use as a Human, but coming from a God apparently that is too far. I found the whole exchange kind of hilarious. They are completely on the back foot. Fighting against an enemy who is stupidly superior and they are still quibbling over how honorable their tactics are.
Fitun was underhanded and evil in his methods, but at least he was prepared to do everything he could to win. I think his loss might be a bigger problem for Alda and his group than they currently realize.
gomezseba37
yeah and its seems that they cant take rash actions but im sure if van keeps getting more power and gods into his faction alda will take desperate measures like descending upon the world himself. but I think that wont be enough after all when van used the hollow cannon on zakkarts trial the evil god of dungeons(i dont remember those names) compared that attack to alda having decended upon the world and using all his might to try and destroy the dungeon
Jonathan Hurd
Alda’s current reaction does show how laidback his mindset is. I remember in a previous God’s meeting where Fitun putting himself in Alda’s shoes would of immediately descended some heroic spirits and God’s to cross the boundary mountain range and kill Van after knowing he can break Souls. If Alda had done that there would have been nothing Van could of done and all of Aldas problems wouldn’t be this out of control.
Admittedly it would of kicked off World War two against Vida, but they could honestly run back across the mountain range and there wouldn’t be much Vida’s forces could do.
Alda still feels superior and he has hope in the forms of Heinz and his hero army, but Van is constantly getting stronger. The longer Alda waits and puts off trying to deal with him using everything he’s got the worse his situation becomes.
Amusingly Van as well is holding himself back and trying to stick to his own morale code. Van could honestly probably destroy the Amid Empire and the Orbaume Kingdom if he poisoned their fields and water supplies. Spread plagues in villages and he could wipe out nations in days if he wanted to. He doesn’t mainly to avoid truly becoming a monster.
It will be interesting to see who is forced to break their personal moral code first between Alda and Van.
Chiu ChunLing
They’re not actually against how underhanded Fitun’s methods were, they’re just pretending to be since he ended up losing. Otherwise Nineroad would have offered this apology before he lost, and they’d have actually tried to stop him somehow.
gomezseba37
yeah the omniscient voice explained it very well it wouldve been a valid strategy for a human. not for a god and alda alowed it anyways thats why.
Kuro-san
So … Rodcort (Webnovel) is a silhouette of light? Damn, why did his design have to be my favorite Isekai God type? I’m sick.
Thanks for the chapter …

no, he looks like a white old man covered with an aura of light, a design that makes him look worthy and wise, just the opposite of what he is
gomezseba37
exactly
Jonathan Hurd
It’s kind of funny seeing it in the Manga. He does look holy, but then you see his personality and all you feel is disappointment.
Kuro-san
This would be my second favorite type of Isekai God (The elderly), but thanks for giving me a little peace of mind, it really helped me.
Anyway, which Rodcorte chapter was described? I don’t remember reading a more detailed description of him than the current one.

Right, thanks.

One world that would desribe this chapter: CHAOS!
I mean, we all knew that it was going to be big, but to make some of the gods lose faith in victory against Van? It is true but still.
Also, nice touch with the myths and legends. I wonder what kind of legends are there about the other gods. Like who did they ship Zuruwarn with? That is one question I want an answer to.
I can only imagine what kind of legends will they make about Van. LMAO he is going to have an army of children in their books. That and an impossibly large harem(something that may be true in the end, but still).
Thank you Yoshi-sama!
Haraken
I just want to see the fallout of people realizing that a god subordinated to Alda was in effect trying to wipe out a city just to get a single person (effectively betraying the followers of Alda’s faction within the city and country).
Entropy
My money is Alda’s fraction will turn this on Vida by saying Fitun had defected to Vida but they got into a fight over something where Fitun decided to betray her or something just as ridiculous.
Superboy8338
I wouldn’t put it past them at this point.
Tejing
That’s sneakier than anything I came up with, but I don’t think Alda’s up for outright lying to the people like that. I expect the gods will just keep quiet about the incident and humans will come to their own conclusions, which will probably be something along the lines of that the hero Fitun was supporting went rogue. Though some of the more astute humans will probably realize Fitun is destroyed and have a lot of open questions.
Eddy
there is a drawback, remember that the communication between humans and gods is worse than the game the phone is broken, 1 in 10 words arrives and they may arrive in disorder (if they hear something, in the worst case they only hear a scream )
Entropy
True, but the priests of Alda will probably make up some nonsense about Fitun being corrupted by an evil god or Vida tricking him into attacking the town. The funny thing is Van will probably take the weapons and the bodies to study cleaning up for Alda. As for Fitun statues, not many people were too concerned with Yupeon and Curatos so they might hide that as well.
Jonathan Hurd
There was some pretty extreme panic after Yupeon’s statue started crying blood and Alda’s book exploded. A full on God statue crumbling at this point is going to probably grab everyone’s attention even harder. During the incident with Curatos a bunch of priests of Alda heard screaming and fainted. I think Priests of Fitun are definitely going to be dropping like flies now.
What probably makes things even more worrisome is the time between Yupeon’s and the Book incident was years. The time between the Book and Fitun is about a year. It doesn’t take a genius to realize these cases are happening more frequently.
The next step is to try and figure out if any accidents happened at the same time. A freak Dungeon Overflow involving monsters that are not indigenous and were way to high rank is definitely going to grab attention then.
I do like your idea that Alda’s group could try and push the blame to Vida’s group. Problem I see with saying Fitun joined Vida’s side is its too abrupt. I think a more likely case is they might try and spin this as Fitun was attacked by an extreme sect of Vida worshippers. Try to stoke the flames of war higher.
Lord Rin
I honestly don’t think they’ll even try to explain anything. They try to project this holy and inviolable appearance where they’re never wrong or do bad things so they can’t just outright lie about Fitun. So since they can’t lie and explaining what Fitun did is inconvenient then the only option left is to remain silent. Let people speculate as much as they want.
Doc
I agree with this. I don’t see Alda’s side making up blatent lies. If anything Alda might send, “Vandalieu. Demon king. Murdered. Fitun.” It’s a simple message that would probably get through to his priests and while it loses all the context behind the event it would still frame the situation as if Van was the bad guy while also being technically correct.
But yes, it’s also likely they say nothing and just focus on building up their chosen heroes.
Jonathan Hurd
I like your message the only issue I can see with it though is remember Van is a 10 year old dhampir boy. People who have never met him or seen him fight would never think he could threaten a 50k year old God much less kill him.
If that message was sent I can only imagine a repeat of the whole Schneider thing. They’d probably think whoever killed Fitun is coming for Van and Alda wants us to protect Van. It could even be read as Fitun died to protect Van, lol.
Stupid from our perspective as readers, but honestly other than a select few no one on the human side has seen Vans power. People would probably think the same thing Duke Sauron thought when warned about a Dhampir boy. It’s just some ridiculous political scheme to throw people off the true mastermind.
Jonathan Hurd
To be fair they don’t have to necessarily lie. You just gotta leave out a few facts. Basically if you just announce that Fitun has fallen in battle against the Demon King. You don’t go into whose fault the monsters and the bandits attacking the city is. People would just naturally assume those were the actions of the Demon King and Fitun was fighting to stop them.
When people bring up his ‘hero’ fighting against Van you just throw Hajime under the bus. Either he was corrupted by the Demon King, or if you want to avoid lying. Just say he went crazy from the pressure. That’s actually pretty true, lol.
Now the biggest issue then admittedly is trying to portray Van as said Demon King. No one who witnessed the scene can say he wasn’t trying to protect the city. From his mom and ghouls fighting at the front gate to him going out to help refugees and being attacked by bandits.
Entropy
You could even say that the demon lord summoned evil monsters to attack heroic spirits. You twist the truth enough, you could easily make Van and company into an invading force of undead and monsters.
Jonathan Hurd
I feel like you could make an argument that the Demon King released the beasts, but Van never actually released his more monstrous appearance. He didn’t go multiple clones or covering himself in his soul. I think it’s a bit hard to paint him as a monster. You could probably downplay his achievements, but I think it’d take some extreme information manipulation to paint the 10 year old kid as the originator of all this.
Eddy
The problem with Van’s legends is that it is very popular for Van himself to tell them, he is in almost all places at the same time
Regarding the children’s army, it will be necessary to create a separate category in the family registry, just like Vigaro (how many are already? 100? 200? Have we reached the 4 digits?)
VEreality
Hey. If the Great Azathot from the Cthulhu mythos can be the father of everything why couldn’t Van be the patriarh of an entire legion of eldritch horrors.
Tejing
I’m sorta sad that we didn’t get to see roddy freaking out. I mean, it’s funny that he lost consciousness, but it still kept us from seeing his reactions.
It’s funny… even though they all comment on how Fitun shouldn’t have used the tactics he did, none of them even made a passing remark about the fact that the “Demon King” was the one who protected humanity from his actions…
I wonder what Peria’s up to? Juliana still can’t remember the divine message, so we don’t really have much to go by. The only reason I can really think of for her not to take this opportunity (since she’s clearly not taking Alda’s side or she wouldn’t have given Juliana her divine protection) is if she’s concerned about what would happen to Botin if she did. Anyone have any other ideas what she might be up to?
Superboy8338
Just another sign that most of those gods are bad people who really only care about their agendas.
Nii07
If I were to guess she’s probably working behind the scenes trying to convert any neutral gods and goddesses that choose to simply maintain the world on Alda’s side but who don’t really agree with the way he’s handling things. She probably also try so bring as many of her subordinates as she can to Vida’s side so that when the win the world doesn’t collapse. She’ll probably time it with Botin’s revival so Alda can’t act to stop them since they’ll be weakened. Peria seems to be the really cunning Goddess who likes to plan and think a few steps ahead.
Doc
Yeah at this point Alda’s side is just being super dense if they haven’t noticed Van is not a threat to the world like the previous demon king was. Gurudanis actively attacked humans and the gods. Van has only ever protected people and killed in self defense. But Alda just doesn’t care. To him, a being that can destroy souls, can’t exist so even if he’s in the wrong, he’ll keep trying to destroy Van (even though at this point that would mean he’s more a threat to the world than Van is)
Regarding Peria I could only imagine she’s choosing not to join Vida’s side at this moment because she doesn’t want to corner Alda into doing something rash right now. If one of the great gods were to join Vida’s side right after Fitun was destroyed, Alda might go full attack mode and that could endanger the whole world. She probably wants to pick a better moment and continue to just observe both sides.
Death God
In my opinion their not dense, their just racist to Vida’s races. Brought on by Bellwood misguided teachings both Farmuan and Nine rood realize that.
Zenden1st
Its sad how the chosen heroes tainted the great gods
BeiBei G6
And it is even more sadder the the one responsible for all was an overly Idealistic Idiot and Alda blaming Zakkart for Vida’s madness
Jonathan Hurd
I think the problem is less denseness and more stubbornness. At this point they have killed so many people that they’ve kind of decided they have reached a point of no return. They can’t imagine Vida’s side won’t come after them especially with Van who can eat souls.
Who Cares
It is more that Alda made a decree and Van is not just going against that decree his very existence is against said decree. And as the God Of Tyranny Alda cannot let someone flip him the bird in that way without erasing them.

This is a misinterpretation that many here are making, that Alda is blind to Van’s nature. Its just that because of Van’s nature and what he is that Alda and his faction can’t accept him. Remember, Alda’s goal is to return the world to it’s state pre-Gudaranis. That means no races of Vida, no devil nests, no dungeons, no Evil Gods. The power to destroy souls is what levels him up to the threat level of Gudaranis but I don’t think that is why Alda can’t bring himself to the table and negotiate with Van. Van’s values and existence as a dhampir is what makes it impossible

“Once war began, the sacrifices would number not in the tens, but in the thousands… perhaps even in the tens of thousands. Considering that, forsaking the lives of a mere twenty or thirty people to produce a powerful force that could end the war in its early stages would be an incredibly small sacrifice”
zakkart mentioned to nuke a continent filled only with demon king’s forces and save the rest of the humanity in its initial state was considered wrong and now that fitun used the same method smh i know they consider van a threat only cuz his skills resemble the demon king but…smh hope van finishes or reconcile wit alda’s faction and destroy rodiot
Jonathan Hurd
While I agree it would be fun to see a panicking Rodidiot. Considering that he just started screaming non stop after the Misa lost her soul I don’t think we missed too much. The fight did completely change very abruptly by the end, but considering this is the self centered Rodidiot. I don’t think he would care at all that Hajime took control of Murakami and Odin by that point.
For what Peria is up to. I agree with you that she is probably worried if she runs off that Alda might do something to Botin. I think she’s not making a move right now because there isn’t a lot for her to gain. This is a great chance to sneak away but that’s about it.
Honestly if Peria ran off and joined Van right now I feel like it would make it almost impossible for anyone else to safely defect afterwards. The idea that others could join Van’s side would spread to Alda and the rest causing them to monitor each other much harder. If she pushes defection back she could potentially gather like minded gods and have them all leave at once making a much bigger impact and safety for them than if she runs off alone.
I think if Peria leaves now the chaos that would cause won’t really be that much in comparison to Fitun’s death. Alda’s group is already disrupted so Peria leaving might actually work to put them on higher alert and double their efforts.
Compared to that I don’t think Peria would really gain anything from joining Vans side at this moment. Better to have Pargtarta continue to gather information and collecting power for right now, imo.

Alda’s side confirmed multiple times, and once more in this chapter, that they don’t care losing 90% of the current population of Lambda (again) if Vandalieu die in the process. A single city is nothing to them.
Just as said :
” But as the enemy was the Demon King, it was a different matter entirely. If he could be defeated at the cost of turning a single city into a Devil’s Nest, even many humans would accept it. ”
Even Fitun was dumbfounded to see Vandalieu trying his hardest to save people unrelated to him. It makes no sense from a ‘divine’ point of view.
Jonathan Hurd
It seemed that Fitun understood at least that everyone has their reason for standing on the battlefield. He probably doesn’t see the value in protecting a bunch of random civilians with your body, but he knew that Van did Value them enough to protect them from harm. It was Hajime the self centered idiot that he is that couldn’t accept anyone being selfless.
I do feel like Aldas crew should think a bit about why Van tries so hard to protect bystanders, but I think they were to busy collectively crapping their pants at how one sided this fight was to really pay attention, lol.

They already know why Van protects the innocent.
It’s exactly the same reason he’d never be cool with their genocidal agenda even if he wasn’t a Dhampir.
But the fact that they have a genocidal agenda (and pretty much everything else Alda’s faction has ever done) should be a clue that they don’t really care about protecting the innocent as a value.
All they care about protecting is their own hypocrisy.

I already read up to the latest WN chapter. Its a bit spoilery. Do you still want to know?
Peria is pretending to sleep so Alda’s forces are forced to split between guarding her and Botin who was sealed by Gudaranis. Because Alda is worried Van might devour them. She is not doing anything else except giving a couple of Oracles.
Tejing
I wasn’t asking for spoilers, just fostering discussion. Also, even when they’re in spoiler tags, spoilers aren’t really allowed around here. (I assume that what’s in those tags is actually a spoiler… I didn’t read it) There’s a channel on discord for discussion of the raws for those that want to talk about that.

I think it’s hilarious that we just cut to him already passed out. I imagine the TV static in his eyes as he just gazes.
Chiu ChunLing
What’s funnier than them all commenting on how Fitun ‘shouldn’t have used such dirty methods’ is that the only reason they’re doing that is to cover up their disappointment that he didn’t succeed. It’s pure ‘sour grapes’ on their part.
Before Fitun lost, they all were far more concerned with hoping he accomplished something no matter how dirty his methods.

I’m pretty sure by now that Alda is going off the FAR deep end and doesn’t realize it but then I’m also sure we all know that by now. It’s really disappointing on how everything is turning out like this but no one on Alda’s side can actually see this. Just goes to show you how stubborn and narrow minded they. They should be thanking Vandalieu for cleaning up their mess but guess it’s always the dumb asses that never see past their clouded windows of perception. But what really gets under my skin is the fact that Asagi is going to be heated because Vandalieu devoured not just Fitun but also Murakami and his group.

I also just realized that since this chapter said that Edgar’s soul is still recovering, that means Heinz’s party still hasn’t resumed their trial of bellwood training. Dang, Van is getting stronger everyday and the last time he faced Heinz’s group they struggled to keep up with him, and if they were to meet him in the future, they would not even stand a chance.
Renrobt
It has been over 2 months since the fight. Heinz and Diana should have recovered, as it was said that in here they will only need a month to recover. Only Edgar hasn’t recovered, but they could have easily started training their individual skills without him, but yeah I don’t see how they could catch up to Van.
And its not just Van got stronger in the meantime, they also probably got weaker. After all the goddess explained that they might feel numbness or loss of memories and other stuff as the result for having the soul damaged.
Also the 2 who were not Van’s target had a lot of alone time, or maybe with other gods, to think about their actions, after all they were wavering after learning that ghouls, majins and all are actually Vida’s races. While I do not think they would leave the party, I am sure this will put a strain on their relationship, at least for a little while when Heinz returns, further weakening the party as a whole.

From chapter 203:
You’re right it’s been roughly 2 months since the fight, but the projected time was “several months”, so he should still be in recovery.
Doc
He’s probably physically fine by now but yeah, that mental damage probably still persists. I mean he met the woman he got killed that changed his entire outlook on the Alda/Vida situation who’s also now a physical incarnation of Vida herself (on occasion) and was basically told, “you’ve done goofed” by said person. Unless Alda brainwashes him or he just goes down the stubborn misguided hero path I can see that he’ll continue to be mentally fragile going forward.
Jonathan Hurd
My personal bet is they get the terribly damaged Edward back and start moving forward again. Heinz will have not fully worked through his issues and he’ll go to wake up Bellwood in hopes of asking him for guidance.

Thank you yoshi for the chapter. So rodcorte fainted when a good chunk of his power within the four reincarnated individuals was destroyed when Van devoured their souls. So funny and as usual the god of alda’s faction are debating and accomplishing nothing. Also given Asagi’s nature, if he learns about Van destroying more souls, he will most likely interpret things his own way and act like an idiot. Piera will most likely join Van’s/Vida’s side. I wanted to see in what ways did Van’s status improved after his battle, oh well, I’m glad to see this chapter before the day is over. I hope to see the next chapter soon, preferably before this month is over.

I literally burst out laughing after seeing these three’s stats and skills. They were soo fucking dumb in challenging Van-Sama right then and there thanks as always for the update Yoshi! Can’t wait to see Van-Sama’s new Skills and jobs he will get from this fight. Looks like Nimrod was KOd after the fight probably cause Van-Sama ate the skills and divine protections stunning/hurting Nimrod somehow
Entropy
Sounds like they hit a wall like that one girl turned ghoul Karcia, I think her name was. Instead of trying to figure out ways around the wall like talking to fellow adventurers they decided to drill straight into said wall by attacking Van. I do agree, dumb move on their part, but they were probably worried about what Rodcorte would do if they were not attacking Van and figured attacking with a war god was their best move. Pity Fitun was a poor example for a war god.
Jonathan Hurd
Admittedly Murakamis group had their backs pretty far against the wall and this was the best opportunity they were ever going to get. Van could disappear back over the boundary mountain range any day. If he goes over for a year or two and becomes even stronger what the heck could the even do.
Add in concerns of the upcoming war Aldas group seems to be prepping for, and finally the assurance that if things go wrong you can get out by using the suicide switch. It makes sense why Murakami and his crew would attack Van.
I think the fatal flaw is more a lack trust between all of Vans enemies all in all. Aldas group, Fitun, Murakami, and Evil Gods all refuse to trust each other or share info. So each one is forced to learn about Vans strength the hard way each time. Leading to catastrophic consequences on their end and no damage on Vans.
Entropy
True, too many chefs in the kitchen. They all want to rule the world or gain some benefit. Maybe things will change if or when a large number of reincarnators die, such as a leader and some underlings. Murakami was simply a pawn in Avalon’s plans if I recall correctly. Maybe when he or that one braver with a similar name to the mc die, they will get more organized. Heinz might also rally some heroes behind him, but you are right. As of now too many are attacking alone or in small groups. To truly kill Van, a massive army is needed with some way to detain or block him from bringing his army or using his skills.
Jonathan Hurd
To have a chance against Van it does seem like they are going to need the reincarnators cheats and Aldas God’s combat abilities together. I think Aldas side might learn this from the current situation. Though considering how Hajime went out they might be a bit reluctant. Amusingly while Aldas side will probably hesitate because of Hajimes actions. I think the reincarnators will probably hesitate due to Fituns actions.
There’s probably never going to be a collaboration until Alda swallows some pride and actually talks to the reincarnators to make a deal. I think he’s not quite desperate enough for that yet, and the reincarnators aren’t going to agree to being used as tools. Especially after learning how much manipulation was happening in their Origin life.
I feel like we need to see Heinz die before Alda panics enough to use the reincarnators as anything other than pieces to stall for time.
For the reincarnators, there will probably be the customary group that thinks Murakami died because he was an idiot. They will be able to succeed where he failed! The majority though are probably going to join the Mao camp and get off the continent and move somewhere safe!
