An incredible, delicious flavor spread inside Vandalieu’s mouth. He wasn’t actually tasting it with his tongue, but it wasn’t a matter of how he was experiencing the sensation.
A stimulating flavor, as if spices have been added. That flavor is covering the bland-flavored parts. The subtle flavors are also pleasant, stimulating my hunger. And yet, it is not overly oily and doesn’t have a heavy aftertaste. Gods’ souls are extraordinary after all, Vandalieu thought to himself.
Feeling very satisfied, Vandalieu chewed Hajime Fitun’s soul and swallowed it.
If he were to describe the soul of Hihiryushukaka, the flavor and texture had been like seafood… like fresh squid and octopus, served with a rich, unique cream sauce.
In contrast, Vandalieu felt like the soul of Fitun, the god of thunderclouds, was close to something like a chicken dish cooked with spices. The divine protection and ability bestowed upon Hajime’s soul were considerably pleasant as well.
It was difficult to say which was better, but Vandalieu did feel like Fitun’s was more delicious.
I wonder if this is because I’ve acquired the ‘Demon King’ Job and acquired a Skill of that name as well. And the ‘Demon King’s Body’ on top of that, Vandalieu thought.
Perhaps he found the soul of Fitun, a god of Lambda, more delicious than that of Hihiryushukaka, one of the remnants of the Demon King’s army, because he was the Demon King. Vandalieu thought that this must be the case, as one’s physical constitution and state of health affected one’s tastes on Earth as well.
“It seems that you are very satisfied, Bocchan,” said Sam, who had returned to the ordinary dimension.
“You’re in a total trance…” said Isis, who had left Akira’s corpse and joined with the other fragments of flesh.
As always, Vandalieu’s face was like one of an expressionless doll, but every other part of his body was expressing his emotions.
“Incidentally, what differences are there between the souls of gods, heroic spirits, familiar spirits and humans?” asked Kanako.
“Mmm… Let’s see,” Vandalieu said, his cheeks still stuffed. “If I were to use examples to describe it, a god’s soul is like a banquet that fills up a whole large table, a multi-course meal, or something like the Manchu Han Imperial Feast. Heroic spirits’ souls are light meals, like hot dogs or sandwiches. One familiar spirit’s soul on its own is like a bland piece of bread or steamed bun. People’s souls are like… tiny specks of food?”
TLN: The Manchu Han Imperial Feast was a three-day feast in China during the Qing Dynasty.
“I see,” Kanako said with a nod.
“Specks, huh,” Doug muttered, grimacing as he looked at the corpses of the three dead enemies. “I know I’m the one that finished them off, but I do feel pity for them after all.”
“By the way, do you feel more of a desire to eat souls compared to ordinary food?” asked Melissa.
“I see, you’re worried that I might lose my mind out of a hunger to feed on souls one day…” Vandalieu said, still continuing to munch on the contents of his mouth. “That’s not a problem. I’m only eating souls because it’s necessary. The flavor can be replicated with high-quality food… and souls don’t contain any calories or vitamins.”
Vandalieu had noticed the real reason for Melissa’s question. Eating souls increased his Attribute Values and caused him to learn Skills. But they did not provide him with any physical nourishment.
“I see. That’s a relief to hear,” said Melissa.
“More importantly, Your Majesty, it is impolite to speak with your mouth full,” said Princess Levia, keeping herself invisible.
“I suppose you’re right… I’ll just spit them out already,” said Vandalieu.
He stopped moving the object inside his mouth and stuck his tongue out. A small, faintly-glowing sphere was resting on it, and it floated off and began floating around him.
“Is that… a spirit?” Princess Levia asked.
“Yes, these are the souls of Gordon, the Flame Blades and the rest of the people who were turned into vessels for the heroic spirits,” said Vandalieu.
“Oh my. So, you were rolling those around inside your mouth in order to separate the human souls that had fused with those of the heroic spirits, and only ate the heroic spirits’ souls?” said Daroak.
“That’s unexpected. I was sure you’d already chewed them up and eaten them. Especially that Gordon person and those Flame Blades,” said Doug in surprise as he stared at the souls. “Or did they taste so terrible that you couldn’t eat them?”
Perhaps because they had separated from Vandalieu, they gradually faded away and became invisible to the naked eye.
But their souls certainly still existed, just like the spirits that were gathered around Vandalieu.
“The people who were turned into the heroic spirits’ vessels weren’t enemies; they were just victims. Even though I wasn’t able to save them, I thought it would be cruel to crush even their souls inside my mouth along with the ones who harmed them,” said Vandalieu. “I don’t resent Gordon and the Flame Blades enough to break their souls, and I don’t accept that it is necessary to do so.”
Vandalieu did not think well of the Flame Blades, who were deeply involved with the loss of Natania’s limbs. But their crimes had been atoned for in accordance with the Adventurers’ Guild’s rules, though it was likely the heroic spirits who had done that so that the Guild wouldn’t monitor them anymore, allowing them to move freely.
Still, their free wills had been robbed and their bodies had been taken over, and in the end, they had been killed by Legion. Surely this was enough of a punishment.
As for Gordon, Vandalieu had even less ill sentiment towards him. He was nothing more than a man who happened to cross paths with Vandalieu, duel Miles and suffer a humiliating defeat. Vandalieu felt no resentment or malice for him.
He had likely done various evil deeds in the past, but having his body taken over and being killed was enough of a punishment for that.
The same applied for the others who had been used as the heroic spirits’ vessels. They were likely adventurers and mercenaries who had just happened to get involved in this mess, but there was no guarantee that they were guiltless victims. It was possible that some of them had a history of criminal activity.
But now, they were nothing more than mindless souls. Vandalieu didn’t know their victims, and he hadn’t been asked to take vengeance on them by anyone.
And even if he released these souls like this, Rodcorte wouldn’t use them as assassins. Though heroic spirits could one day return to the mortal world, these souls were different.
There was no reason to devour them.
“I’ll likely turn them into Undead or pseudo-reincarnate them. Like the space-attribute Ghosts, there’s no hope of their memories and personalities from when they were alive coming back, though,” said Vandalieu.
Even when the memories and personalities of Undead were damaged or lost due to the fear and shock felt during their deaths or due to the passage of time, there were some cases in which these returned following a Rank increase.
However, Gordon and the others had been rendered disabled while still alive. The memories and personality that could be restored would be those that they had just before their deaths – they would never return to the states they were in before the heroic spirits took over them.
《Your Mana has increased by 100,000,000!》
《You have acquired ‘Divinity: Thunder God,’ ‘Divinity: God of War,’ ‘Chronos,’ ‘Pseudo-Death Scythe,’ ‘Pseudo-Gungnir,’ ‘Odin,’ ‘Sylphid’ and ‘Marionette!’》
《The ‘Divinity: Thunder God’ and ‘Divinity: God of War’ Skills have fused with ‘Demigod!’ You have acquired ‘Spirit Form Transformation: Lightning!’》
《‘Chronos,’ ‘Pseudo-Death Scythe,’ ‘Pseudo-Gungnir,’ ‘Odin’ and ‘Sylphid’ have fused with the ‘Dark King Magic’ Skill; ‘Marionette’ has fused with the ‘Golem Creation’ Skill!》
Vandalieu heard these announcements inside his head. Eating the souls of Fitun and his heroic spirits was likely the cause of this.
He considered that the increase to his Mana was just a little bonus. His Mana had already reached the territory of gods… and soared over it. Among the gods belonging to Alda’s religion, Fitun had been above average in rank, but that was all.
Well, I don’t really mind. It’s not like I’m eating souls for the purpose of increasing my Attribute Values and acquiring Skills, Vandalieu thought.
His objective in devouring souls was to take his resentment and hatred out on his enemies, and to destroy beings that had no physical bodies and could not be killed. It was not to increase in Attribute Values and Skills.
Thus, Vandalieu didn’t feel unnecessarily disappointed, nor did he feel happy.
He had acquired the ‘Divinity: Thunder God’ and ‘Divinity: God of War’ Skills, which were likely related to Fitun’s qualities as a god, and these had fused with his ‘Demigod’ Skill. Their effects were… far from unclear. Vandalieu suspected that once his companions learned of this, their worship of him would increase even more.
He didn’t think he could handle it if gaudy decorations were added to the giant statue of him that was currently being built, and a second and third statue were built in addition to that.
The ‘Spirit Form Transformation: Lightning’ Skill seemed useful. It was likely a Skill that allowed a human to replicate what Kimberley and the other lightning-attribute Ghosts could do – turning their own spirit form into electricity.
Vandalieu was already able to use lightning attacks with ‘Dead Spirit Magic’ as long as Kimberley and the others were there, but it seemed that this Skill would be more useful in medical treatments using his spirit form rather than attacks… In combination with ‘Mental Encroachment’ and ‘Golem Creation,’ it was possible that he could even replicate the effects of ‘Marionette.’
More importantly, Vandalieu had acquired ‘Chronos’ and the other cheat-like abilities.
“You look disappointed,” said Orbia. “Did you get some strange Skills or something?”
“Did you not get the Skill Level increases that you were hoping for?” asked Rita.
Before answering, Vandalieu looked around to make sure that they were the only ones around. “Yes, I’ve acquired ‘Chronos,’ ‘Sylphid’ and other Skills. They fused with my other Skills right away, though.”
“Huh? Those are the abilities that those guys were using, right? Then it’s…” Orbia began, looking confused.
“I see. That’s inconvenient,” said Kanako, folding her arms. “If Van eats reincarnated individuals, he acquires their abilities. If Rodcorte learns about this, he’s going to start telling the reincarnated individuals that come in the future that Van intends to devour their souls to acquire their abilities.”
“Wait, Kanako-san! His Majesty wouldn’t do something like that! If there was an ability that he really wanted no matter what, he wouldn’t devour the person’s soul! He would spare them and persuade them to join him, brainwash them or do surgery on them!” said Princess Levia.
“Levia-san, I agree. I agree, but the reincarnated individuals being fed this lie won’t know what Van is really like. And the reality is that he has already devoured the souls of reincarnated individuals before,” said Kanako. “This should be enough to set the reincarnated individuals against us.”
“No way…!” Princess Levia murmured, unable to conceal her shock.
“Persuading them would be fine, but you just mentioned brainwashing and surgery, didn’t you?” Doug said with a wry smile.
“Well, that would apply for people with abilities that you want ‘no matter what,’ right? I think that would be more gruesome than killing them and eating their souls. What do you think?” Melissa asked Vandalieu.
“I’m glad there are some people who understand me,” said Vandalieu.
An ability that Vandalieu wanted no matter what – in other words, an ability that would bring ruin upon Vandalieu and those around him if he did not obtain it – If someone with such an ability existed, Vandalieu would consider every option available and attempt to bring that ability under his control.
Princess Levia and Kanako believed that this was the case.
“Well, I’ve already heard about the abilities of the other reincarnated individuals, and there aren’t any abilities that I would want ‘no matter what,’” said Vandalieu. “At the very least, there aren’t any abilities that I would want so badly that I would force them to obey me, brainwash them or devour their soul.”
There were some abilities that Vandalieu considered troublesome and others that he thought would be convenient to have, but there weren’t any that he believed that he needed to have at all costs. That was what he thought of the reincarnated individuals’ abilities.
“But it doesn’t matter what I think. What’s important to the reincarnated individuals is what I am capable of doing,” Vandalieu said.
Vandalieu was… the reincarnated individual that none of the others had noticed in Origin. He had already killed Murakami and the others, and was capable of acquiring cheat-like abilities by devouring the souls of their owners.
None of the reincarnated individuals would have a positive impression of Vandalieu upon hearing that, even if that alone wasn’t enough of a reason for them to try and kill Vandalieu as Rodcorte wanted them to.
“So, can you use ‘Chronos’ and ‘Sylphid?’” asked Kanako.
“No, they’ve already fused with my other Skills, so I can’t use them just like that… though I might become able to produce something close to their effects,” said Vandalieu.
He tried activating the abilities in the same way that he used his Skills, but he was unable to turn a part of his body into vapor or see several seconds into the future.
This was likely because the abilities had been fused with other Skills and transformed.
“I think they will be useful when I use ‘Dark King Magic’ and ‘Golem Creation,” Vandalieu said.
“I see. I think that’s for the best, actually. If you achieved similar things to what the abilities could do only while using magic or creating Golems, they’d just think that you’re imitating the abilities,” said Kanako.
“Yeah,” Doug agreed with a nod. “Even in Origin, there were people who tried to invent spells similar to my ability. They mostly failed, and the ones that succeeded made spells that required too much Mana or were too difficult to use, so most of them were shelved and never used.”
“But various things are different in Lambda… They might think that imitating the abilities is possible with Vandalieu’s Mana,” said Melissa.
“I see. Well, even without proof, Rodcorte… and some of the reincarnated individuals might mistrust me out of ill will, but if we keep thinking like that, there would be no end to it,” said Vandalieu. “Let’s treat this matter as a national secret.”
“Very well, Bocchan. This information will never be leaked,” said Sam in a serious tone.
“The only ones who know about it are all of us who are present here, the Ghosts that are staying invisible, and the countless spirits around Bocchan!” said Rita.
Vandalieu looked away in exasperation in response to Rita’s words.
Gordon and the others used as the heroic spirits’ vessels had just joined a vast swarm of countless invisible spirits surrounding Vandalieu. However, the majority of them were the spirits of insects and plants, and even the human ones could not be heard by any living people who didn’t have the ‘Spiritualist’ job other than Vandalieu.
“Well, it’s a national secret anyway. Though I’ll let Mother and the others know, and I’ll probably be telling the people who join me and the reincarnated individuals I accept to my side at an early stage,” said Vandalieu.
“That’s fine, isn’t it? Even if everyone in the country were to know, Rodcorte and the reincarnated individuals would never find out,” said Legion as they stood up.
They were currently taking the appearance of Isis, as a way to trick the eyes of the soldiers looking on from the watchtowers.
Incidentally, the Mountain Giant’s bones that Legion had been using as their skeleton were lying in pieces on the ground.

《The ‘Rapid Regeneration’ Skill has awakened into the ‘Super Rapid Regeneration’ Skill!》
As the battle had been divided into two parts, it seemed the Leveling up of Vandalieu’s Skills had also been divided into two parts.
The Levels of various Skills had increased, but… leaving aside ‘Staff Technique,’ the ‘Super Rapid Regeneration’ Skill was a big change. Vandalieu wondered how many humans had acquired this Skill… No, had anyone else ever done so before?
Probably nobody that was actually a human in the normal sense. It seems likely that there would have been some Vampires and Majin who did, Vandalieu thought. It’s all because Hajime Fitun was hacking me to pieces… Speaking of which.
“Doug, please bring the equipment that contains the Demon King’s bone marrow,” Vandalieu said.
“You’re going to go ahead and absorb it, huh? Alright,” said Doug.
While Doug fetched the quiver from the corpse of the female archer, Vandalieu picked up the curved-sword-shaped equipment that Hajime Fitun had used.
“If the people of the city found out about the Demon King equipment, they’d just go and seal it away in some Church, after all,” said Kanako.
“They won’t be able to tell what kind of equipment it is from the watchtowers, so now’s your chance,” said Melissa.
“It’s not really all that interesting,” Vandalieu said, noticing that the two of them were watching him.
He poured his death-attribute Mana into the seal on the equipment and gripped it strongly, and that was enough to cause it to crumble to pieces. It was unclear whether this was because the seal was already in tatters, or whether it was because Vandalieu was the ‘Demon King.’
“I shall not be released from this seal!” a voice shouted in defiance. “In order to merge with the main body, I shall… THE MAIN BODY?!”
“The main body? Oh, main body! OH, MAIN BODY! MERGE! I SHALL MERGE WITH THE MAIN BODY!” screamed another.
The curved blades of the weapons in Vandalieu’s hands and the bone marrow in the quiver pierced through his body! But they slipped into him without causing him any harm, and were absorbed.
《You have absorbed the Demon King’s scale, the Demon King’s scale and the Demon King’s bone marrow!》
《The Demon King’s scale, the Demon King’s scale and the Demon King’s bone marrow have fused with the Demon King’s Body!》
“It seems that both of Fitun’s curved swords were equipment made with the Demon King’s scales,” said Vandalieu.
It might have been an unusual idea to turn scales into blades rather than defensive equipment, but perhaps it was possible if using large, hard scales… or perhaps there had been a problem in the equipment creation process that made it impossible to make armor from the scales.
Kanako and Melissa had fallen completely silent.
Vandalieu turned to face them. “It wasn’t very interesting, was it?”
“It surprised the heck out of me!” Kanako exclaimed. “The blades went right into your head! I know you don’t need to use your brain, but are you really alright?!”
“It looked like the bone marrow went right into your stomach… Do you not need to use your internal organs either?” asked Melissa.
“Kanako, Melissa, I’m using both my brain and my organs right now. Not using them is really tiring, and if I’m not careful and accidentally stop moving my heart or something, I’d die. It’s very troublesome in a lot of ways,” said Vandalieu.
“That really makes me appreciate the fact that our brains make our hearts beat without us needing to think about it,” Doug murmured, nodding in agreement.
With the Demon King’s fragments removed, only Orichalcum fragments were left of the equipment.
Vandalieu got to work. “I’ll just fix the external appearance with ‘Golem Creation,’ and put one scale of the Demon King in each. As for the other one, I’ll use the marrow… I’m finished. With this, it looks like the real thing again.”
“Huh? Why are you fixing them? Nobody knows that they were using Demon King equipment, so isn’t it better to just pretend you don’t know anything about it?” Rita questioned.
“Rita, if he does that, it would be a problem if there are people who were in charge of storing the equipment before they were taken. If they ever spoke out, things might become very troublesome,” said Saria.
“Saria is correct. And it would be best to leave as many clues regarding these guys’ true identities as possible for the people from the city of Morksi who will investigate the incident later,” said Vandalieu.
The Demon King equipment had been given to Hajime Fitun and his subordinates by other people. Vandalieu wanted the investigation to find these loyal servants of the gods.
“After all, it might become even more complicated if us and Vandalieu himself were to give information in the form of verbal testimonies,” Isis added.
“The Dhampir Van claiming that the bandit’s true identity is Fitun himself, or even just claiming that it’s one of his heroes or someone who’s received his divine protection, would cause a huge fuss regardless of whether it’s true or not,” said Kanako.
“There isn’t any physical evidence, either. Their ‘Heroic Spirit Transformation’ just made their bodies glow a bit; there isn’t anything visible from a distance like the pillar of light that comes with ‘Familiar Spirit Descent,’” said Melissa.
There was no irrefutable evidence that Hajime Fitun and his subordinates were the physical incarnations of Fitun, the god of thunderclouds, and his heroic spirits.
Hajime and the others were now nothing more than corpses. It was possible that there would be traces indicating that they had been used as vessels for a god and his heroic spirits if the corpses were examined in detail, but… unfortunately, nobody, not even Vandalieu, had any idea what kind of characteristic signs would be left in a corpse used as a vessel for a god or his heroic spirits.
Even if Vandalieu and his companions were to testify the truth, even if they were trusted by the people of the city, the people outside the city… worshippers of the gods of Alda’s forces and people related to the Church of Fitun, had only ever heard rumors about Vandalieu. They would simply suspect Vandalieu of trying to break the faith of the believers of gods related to Alda for some devious plan.
“So that’s why you’re not going to testify, and just leave them a trail of evidence to follow. But even if you do that, nobody will realize that this was an actual god? Even the guys who handed the Demon King equipment over might have just believed that Hajime was a young man with Fitun’s divine protection,” said Doug apprehensively.
“No, that would be enough, you know,” said Kimberley. “A hero with the divine protection of a god went as far as to take Demon King equipment and formed a group to attack an innocent Dhampir while ignoring the monster horde that was attacking the city. That’s certainly enough of a scandal already.”
The Demon King equipment was the crucial detail. Removing seals from Demon King equipment came at the cost of allowing fragments of the Demon King to run loose. It was terrifying to imagine that a group of individuals wielding such powerful weapons were fighting a raging battle near the city while the city was trying to fend off the monster horde.
Even in the worst-case scenario, the monster rampage would have destroyed just the city of Morksi and the area surrounding it. But there was no telling how far the destruction caused by the rampage of Demon King fragments could spread.
“Incidentally, aren’t you afraid of them figuring out that these pieces of equipment are fake?” asked Orbia.
“I don’t think there’s any chance of that, Orbia,” said Vandalieu. “I replaced their contents with the real scales and bone marrow, and I’ve restored the Orichalcum parts to how they were originally. They’re just parts that I took from my own body, so the scales won’t regenerate and the bone marrow won’t bleed if they’re damaged, but… you wouldn’t discover that unless you were to try to use them.”
Demon King equipment weapons were taboo, so nobody would try to use them… If it really were discovered, Vandalieu would deal with it when the time came.
“Now then, Sam, I’m going to change Jobs again, so let me inside your carriage,” said Vandalieu.
“Oh, your Level has already reached 100, I see!” said Sam.
Even a tenth of the Experience Points Vandalieu had received for defeating three reincarnated individuals and Fitun could be considered a vast amount. Though he had only just acquired the ‘Divine Enemy’ Job, he had reached Level 100 again immediately.
“I don’t mind changing Jobs at the Adventurers’ Guild when we get back to the city, but… it would be troublesome if people ask me to register at the Adventurers’ Guild while I’m at it, and also troublesome having to lie if some important person asks me what Job I chose,” said Vandalieu.
Laying low and staying inconspicuous… Vandalieu had given up on that long ago, but he did want to avoid any troublesome problems that he could, even if it was only for temporary peace of mind.
“Indeed. There seem to be two heroic spirits still alive at the front gate, so it would be best to change Jobs before Darcia-sama and the others dispose of them,” Sam added.
“… Ah, so there were some over there as well,” said Vandalieu.
Incidentally, Kizelbyne had already been defeated by Miles, and his soul had been devoured by Vandalieu along with the other heroic spirits.
Miles was still in the forest, as it would take time for his ‘Beast Transformation’ to come undone and his appearance to return to normal.
“I will create an illusion while you’re inside, so go quickly,” said Daroak.
His light produced an illusion that made it appear as if Vandalieu was standing on the spot, while the real Vandalieu climbed into Sam’s carriage and placed his hand on the crystal in the Job-changing room.
《Jobs that can be selected: Vengeful Berserker, Dead Spirit Mage, Dark King Mage, Fallen Warrior, Insect Ninja, Destruction Guider, Chaos Guider, Hollow King Mage, Eclipse Cursecaster, String User, Demon Ruler, Creator, Pale Rider, Tartarus, Wild Spirit, Dark Battery Cannoneer, Magic Staff Creator, Soul Fighter, God Destroyer, Qliphoth, Dark Beast User, Spirit Therapist, Artisan: Transformation Equipment, Hollow Shadow Caster (NEW!), Balor (NEW!), Apollyon (NEW!), Demigorgon (NEW!), Great Demon King (NEW!), Soul Devourer (NEW!), God Devourer (NEW!), Nergal (NEW!), Ravana (NEW!), Shaitan (NEW!), Chi You (NEW!)》
“… There are more new ones than when I changed Jobs to ‘Divine Enemy,’” Vandalieu muttered to himself in a monotonous voice, but his complaint didn’t reduce the number of Jobs displayed.
The ‘Great Demon King’ Job… had been there when Vandalieu changed Jobs to ‘Divine Enemy.’ Vandalieu suspected that it would not reach the Level cap in an instant like the ‘Demon King’ Job had, however.
‘Soul Devourer’ and ‘God Devourer’ were Jobs that had appeared for the first time. They had likely appeared because Vandalieu had devoured the soul of Fitun, who was neither human nor an evil god, but a god born in this world.
‘Nergal,’ ‘Ravana,’ ‘Shaitan’ and ‘Chi You’ were likely Jobs related to myths and legends of Earth. Vandalieu could try and remember the details of those legends later.
… One thing he did remember was that ‘Nergal’ was the husband of Ereshkigal, the goddess whose name one of Legion’s personalities went by.
Of course, Ereshkigal wasn’t the goddess from that mythology herself, and the ‘Nergal’ Job was unlikely to actually turn Vandalieu into the god ‘Nergal.’
“In any case, I select ‘Dead Spirit Mage’ this time,” Vandalieu said.
‘Dead Spirit Magic’ was a highly applicable, useful Skill, as it had just proven in the previous battle with the space-attribute spell. Considering that Vandalieu would continue using it in the future, it was likely a good idea to take this Job.

Having taken a look through his Status, Vandalieu left the room, pondering ‘God Spirit Magic’ – the superior Skill that had awakened from ‘Dead Spirit Magic.’
God spirits… Does that mean spirits whose Ranks are as high as those of gods? Gods consist of only a soul, and so do Ghosts. So then, a Ghost of Rank 13 or above is similar to a god, or something?
That was likely the reason behind the name of the Skill. In reality, there were various differences, such as gods being able to grant divine protections. But even with such differences, powerful Ghosts were certainly similar to gods in some ways.
“Well, let’s just think of it as a straight-up more powerful version of ‘Dead Spirit Magic,’” Vandalieu decided. “Okay, please retrieve the souls of the heroic spirits defeated by Mother and the others,” he said to Sam as he got off the carriage.
“At once!” said Sam, and with that, he and his daughters vanished into his other dimension.
“Now then, let’s stay here for a while longer… I suppose we should pretend to be healing our wounds. I’ll make some empty Potion bottles with my ‘Golem Creation’ Skill,” said Vandalieu.
Even from afar, the battle that had just taken place would have looked like a fierce one. It was likely better for Vandalieu to make up various reasons for staying here and creating a solid alibi rather than simply returning on his own, looking completely fine.
“Creating porcelain bottles out of thin air just to pretend to be drinking from them seems to be a wasteful use of your Skill,” Kanako remarked.
“Then should I pretend to have been lucky enough to avoid being trampled by the Giant’s foot but lost consciousness, and pretend to just be waking up now?” said Melissa.
“What a detailed setting. More importantly, what are we going to do about Orbia-san who’s been seen, and the Dragon and Giant Zombies?” asked Kanako.
“… Apparently there is an explanation for the Dragon and Giant that involves me having poisoned them to make them lose their minds. I’ll make them hide in the forest and then retrieve them later. Entry into the forest will probably be banned for a while, after all,” said Vandalieu. “As for Orbia… Mother and I are supposedly from a hidden Dark Elf village, so let’s say that Orbia is a highly secret spiritual magic spell that the great elder of that village cast on us before we left.”
“G-great elder?” Kanako repeated in disbelief.
“Yes, the great elder,” said Vandalieu.
He had the feeling that the words ‘great elder’ somehow made explanations more plausible.
“… That would probably be where I’m from, too. We need to make sure we all tell the same story,” said Kanako, who, unlike Melissa, could not turn her skin white.
As she began reciting the words ‘great elder’ under her breath over and over, Doug looked over at Vandalieu with a troubled expression on his face.
“Hey, more importantly, when are you going to come and get this back?” Doug asked.
Vandalieu’s arm, the one that he had severed himself, was floating next to Doug.
The Demon King’s exoskeleton was still active on it, so at first glance, it appeared to be some kind of gauntlet.
“Ah,” said Vandalieu, clapping his hands together as if he had just remembered. “Come to think of it, that thing was still over there, wasn’t it?”
“You forgot about it, huh. Wait, the arm that you cut off has grown back!” Doug exclaimed in surprise.
“Yes, it has, so I don’t need that one anymore. I suppose I can give it to you, if you like?”
“Why would I need it?!”
“You’re the Hecatoncheir, after all, and I guess you could make it your 101st hand. I think it would be quite useful as a weapon, you know.”
“It definitely is useful, but I refuse! The guards will take me away if I have something like this on me, won’t they!”
And so, Vandalieu and his companions waited for someone to come from the city of Morksi to check on them.
Job explanation: Whip Tongue Calamity
A Job that can be acquired by those who use their tongue as their weapon. It provides bonuses to Skills such as ‘Body Expansion (Tongue)’ and ‘Enhanced Body Part: Tongue,’ as well as ‘Unarmed Fighting Technique’ and ‘Whip Technique.’
Some monsters that use their tongues as weapons currently exist, such as amphibian-type monsters and rare kinds of Demons, but as Vandalieu is the only human that does so, he is effectively the only one who can acquire this Job.
In theory, it would be possible for someone other than Vandalieu to acquire this Job if they were to continuously train themselves in using their tongue as a weapon, but… learning combat techniques involving the arms and legs would be thousands of times more efficient, so nobody would bother.
Job explanation: Divine Enemy
A Job that symbolizes an enemy of gods. It is nothing more and nothing less than that. It provides a broad but shallow range of bonuses to various combat-related and magic-related Skills.
One might think that evil people might have acquired this Job in the past, but… as evil gods are included in the definition of ‘gods’ that the Job owner would consider enemies, those who worship the evil gods that are the remnants of the Demon King’s army would never see this Job available to them.
This Job can only be acquired by someone who is considered as an enemy by both this world’s gods and the evil gods from the Demon King’s army as enemies, or has destroyed or sealed away such gods before.

Huh… the Divine Enemy job description made me think that if Schneider or someone in a similar position with great individual power as well made very aggressive & forthright moves the job would’ve become available to him/them at some point before Van.

nice chapter good wrap up for fitun arc
caccuhuy
Van keep getting more OP
Kerlark Dgrayman
“I’m glad there are some people who understand me.” said Vandalieu.
Yes, Van-sama we are here too.
Igotdie24
I’m surprised he didn’t immediately get to lv 100 after he ate fitun, who was supposedly way stronger that the hihi god (forgot the name lol)
Wolfwood824
Uhh…he did. That’s why he changed Jobs in the middle of the chapter.

“You’re the Hecatoncheir, after all, and I guess you could make it your 101st hand. I think it would be quite useful as a weapon, you know.”
I absolutely love that I cannot tell whether this is Van using some dry humor, or if this was intended to be genuine advice, because having the arm of a demon king as a weapon probably would beat most existing artifact weapons on Lambda.

Oh yeah since Van can gain their unique skills by eating their souls. Then if van or banda confront avalon, he could get his unlimited and fast growth skill. Hope it happens, that would be cool. Also if Van or Banda does confront Amemiya Hiroto and devours his soul, would van gain his all element affinity skill, could that work because Van’s death attribute magic is incompatible with other elements. A lot to think about
Dr. Steel
I don’t think the elemental affinity thing would manifest as a skill, I think it just means that Amemiya was given the affinity for all elements, like any of the other Bravers were given affinities, and like how Van didn’t get given any affinity so he basically couldn’t use magic until he awoke Death attribute.
Also, I don’t think, with the way the Banda side story is going, that Amemiya will end up as an antagonist, or that even if he did that Van would eat his soul (depending on how/why he ended up as an antagonist)
The Avalon cheats are more interesting to think about imo, I kinda hope (though I think it’s unlikely, and probably unnecessary) that they will somehow counteract his curses, Fast Growth would cancel out the “Can’t gain xp independantly” curse, and Unlimited Growth would cancel out the “Can’t acquire existing Jobs”. Well, he doesn’t really need either of these, and they don’t perfectly match, so who knows?
NsP7737
he’d still get Ignore Defense from Amemiya though
Vitor
that’s quite useless for him since he already has the Demon King fragments which can pierce barriers, also, the Ignore Defense was already said that will be seriously nerfed in Lambda due the existence of the stat system, take a look at Legion, they are like, Defense 0, HP nearly infinite
OK
when is the next chap its already 1 week
QweenBird17
I don’t know if anyone thought of this yet but can’t Van replace all the gods with pieces of his soul(like the familiar spirits that appear when they are using familiar spirit accent) or clones or something like that were it will be him controlling/managing the attributes that won’t be controlled when the enemy is dead.
Because they need to be managed in there world or the world would fall apart or something I am not entirely clear on it.
Raijin793
A touching reunion between brothers.
Giorgos Giorgos
Although I’m kinda sad Van didn’t acquire Odin and Sylphid since they are two of the cheat abilities that could actually be of use to him, outside of making him slightly more powerful, I understand why that’s not the case and I’m fine with it.
Now, about Van. Almost everything has already be said regarding this chapter, but what I’m more intrested in is the evolution of his rapid regeneration skill. Considering the ridiculous regeneration he already had, I’m guessing that this is a clue about something that will happen in the future.
He’s probably going to get seriously injured, and my first theory is it’ll be during a battle. However, I can’t see the author introducing someone so powerful or make Van’s enemies display such power, so this is highly unlikely to happen.
Mys econd theory has to do with his next growth phase. It was the first time his regeneration got worked so hard due to his ridiculously stats and jobs, and I think something similar will happen. He already has more than the average god, and his stat reach the level of S-Class adventurers. If there’s a next growth phase, Van is gonna hurt like never before.
Jonathan Hurd
I think Van did absorb Odin and Sylphid’s abilities. They are probably going to change in the way they use to better suit Van, but he definitely absorbed them and then they combined with Dark King Magic.
For the foreshadowing using the skill I would agree with you in just about any other story. The problem is that skills levels and evolving on their own are less foreshadowing of future fights and more based on piled up experience. Van during this fight was constantly cut up and even had his head cut open.
Considering the regeneration we’ve seen from people like Ternicia and Birknye. Ternicia regenerating her entire body just from the head and Birknye regenerating his entire body as it was destroyed. I think Van’s skill stepping into Super Regeneration is pretty par for the course if he regenerates his brain.
I do think that Van might potentially have another growth phase. A big part though of what made the first one so painful though was that all his stat gains were suppressed because his Body was to young to handle them and it could stunt his growth. I think of it like why sports players won’t let young kids weight lift till a certain age since it can prematurely close the growth caps on their bones.
GLASTIVA
What a strange coincidence that someone with the same first name and same first letter of their last name is on this exact same site reading this exact same novel as me……..
I must ask, if at all possible.
Would you be able to tell me the last name of one of the donators?
Kiriaru
Awesome, so many new jobs and a satisfying conclusion to the battle!
Jubiscleiton
I’m already looking forward to the next chapter . Does anyone know any raw to see the chapters ahead?
Moonfang
So the first skill that actually jumped to mind for a skill that must be controlled “no matter what” because it could threaten the world or whatever was actually Alda’s Stakes of Justice or whatever they are called. The thought of Alda getting brainwashed by Van after having been essentially brainwashed by Bellwood is funny to me. Maybe being brainwashed is all Alda is really good at? lol
Doc
I don’t see how Alda’s authority is a “must have no matter what” skill. The stakes simply weaken people because they are supposed to be a punishment. Atonement for crimes Alda decided the other party was guilty of. Alda is a threat to the world not because of his stakes but because he has the most power of all the gods in Lambda.
And the way he uses that power is purely according to his selfish whims and not in the best interest of Lambda.
Vitor
Also, Alda’s divine authority only works on Gods of Lambda (this is why Alda was useless, I mean, more useless than usual, against the Demon King and his Evil Gods), and if Van ever gets it it would be after defeating Alda… which would make it useless because the head of the opposing forces is already down
Dr. Steel
I was thinking back about when Van was trying to repair the resurrection device, and needed Orichalcum. And as Van is totally becoming a God, he needs to be able to create and use the “God Metal”, right? Well he has the Golem Creation Skill, which allows him to create things out of nothing. So my theory is the Creator job would upgrade his Golem Creation Skill into something new, allow him to make Orichalcum, and add Creation God to his long list of potential future Godly authorities. Maybe it would turn Golem Creation into Divinity: Creation God/God of Creation.
Jonathan Hurd
That could be funny. I agree with you that the Creator Job definitely feels linked to the Golem Creation Skill. I think the only problem for Van making Orchalicum is he can make Demon King Fragments easier. They possess the same hardness and barrier piercing capabilities as well. So I don’t Van would gain to much even if he starts pumping out Orichalcum.
Another problem with creating metals is it takes a significant amount of mana even for Van. Especially as you go up in quality of material.
Overall I think it’d be cool for Van to take the Creator job, but I think he’s probably going to prioritize more combat related ones for now. Especially since the fight with Alda is starting to heat up.
Dr. Steel
Maybe the Creator Job will increase the mana efficiency of the skill and make it easier to use? And at the rate Van is growing, I think his mana pool will be much higher by the time he gets the job, plus the stat bonuses of the job would probably be mana focused. And we know his Demon King Fragments are weak to Orichalcum, and thus any equipment he makes with them would have similar limitations, making orichalcum the better choice to equip his allies with. And perhaps he’ll find a way to combine orichalcum and demon king fragments to make an “alloy” or a new metal entirely like his Death Attribute metals, but instead Demon King metal
Chase Eldredge
God spirit magic is definitely stronger overall (It’s just the way skills work) but I think sharing mana with gods to boost/cast through them could be a new function.
Jonathan Hurd
Ditto. I was thinking the new name of the upgraded skill is a bit weird if it’s just improves use of ghosts. Usually considering the naming convention for Vans jobs it would evolve to King Dead Spirit Magic. Instead it dropped the Dead part and got God instead of King. As far as I can remember the only person with God in a magical skills name was Darcia Vidas Incarnation. Though Hajime might of had it when possessed by Fitun. Basically only people connected to God’s seem to have magic skills labeled like that.
Another interesting effect Vans improved skill could have is he might actually be able to interact with nature spirits now too. Not just dead spirits. It would be funny if he starts being able to charm elemental spirits too thanks to this job.
I do think though that his new magic skill will help him summon and materialize God’s. We already know Van can do that. Like when Van was dealing with Vidas sides sealed Evil God’s. He materialized Fiderg and Zozogante. Part of the reason he could do that was because they were in a dungeon under Vidas sides control, but this new skill might release some of those limitations.
Haraken
Gotta love how Van is incredibly chill with Doug using his severed arm as a weapon on the regular.
Eddy
well, it’s Van, if it helps one of his teammates, he’ll be happy to lend one more pair of arms
Jonathan Hurd
I mean he literally gives his bones to Knochen as treats and is mass producing potions using his blood. Giving a cast off arm seems somewhat small, lol.
Reveque
Astounding work as always Yoshi! Cant wait to see how people perceive Vans soul now.
Irazori
Oh damn, I didn’t think Van would get reincarnator skills too. Must be universal karmic irony on useless-corte, for not giving Van anything the first time. I honestly can’t wait to see the aldiots and moron-corte figuratively shit themselves on the fact that Van can copy skills now.
As much as I hate that self-righteous pussy asagi, I do want to see him try, fail, and die by the awesomeness of the current Van.
Savarian
thanks for the chapter as always love your work
OK
release more please
Baldingere
Maybe death sense mixed with Odin? So Van would be able to see the death threats in more detail.
I love this chapter but I’m full of curiosity of the lies they will tell Isaac and the headache he’ll get from it.
gomezseba37
It would be great and overpowered as fuck. he would be able to sense threats to his life several seconds in the future utterly broken
Tejing
That’s my guess too. The compatibility between those abilities is just so obvious.
Jonathan Hurd
I feel like Isaac will end up mentally filling in a ton of blanks himself before sighing and thinking it’s better to stop thinking about any of this, lol. Sometimes it’s best to stop asking questions and just be happy you’re alive.
Barkion00
Just want to ramble about jobs right now so
That Demigorgon job… I was curious and googled it. It might be related to Demogorgon… if it is given that its name is supposed to be taboo to say it might make Van a literal memetic hazard, like it possibly might be that just speaking about him would spread his guidance. Or its an evolution to the Demiurge job.
Thou as a side note seems that the jobs ‘Nergal’, ‘Ravana’, and ‘Chi You’ are probably related to the war authority van absorbed as all of them are divinity related to war in some way.
Going in specific Nergal is the god of war, death and disease, I don’t think i need to say more then that. It will probably give bonus to the death magic skills and diseases creation.
Chi You is seen as a god of war and weapons, heck some say he’s even the inventor of weapons, I can see the staff creation and the multiple ghost weapons he created might responsible for that to appear. Crafting bonus?
Ravana on the other hand seems to lean more on the fact that he seen as a symbol of evil and also that he’s a scholar. He’s also a multi headed demon king to add on.
I can see these three jobs impacting not only Van’s growth in his skills but does who have his divine protection, takin Nergal will benefit the undead and Legion nothing else comes to mind, Chi You would probably give a bonus in learning weapons skills as well as crafting them.
Ravana is the one I’m not sure as he represent vices but he might give bonus to production skills in general, cooking, alchemy, golem creation and so on.
Shaitan is an evil spirit depicted Islamic belief that they whisper sin into the heart. I can maybe giving a bonus to guide people not ‘in’ yet or Mental Encroachment. Not 100% on that one.
Baldingere
Thank you, I was lazy to google them, I’m glad to understand it a bit.
nadirku
The word “Shaitan” should have some older roots than just Islam. My understanding is that the word has roots in the Hebrew scriptures, where “sâtan” was used to refer to someone acting as “accuser” or “adversary” – there is even a spot the book of Numbers of the Jewish/Christian Bible, where Yahweh sends an angel from heaven down to earth to act as a “sâtan” towards a specific human… The Christian notion of Satan being a specific individual is also tied up in this word/concept.
So we can see where the author Densuke goes with it, but the “Shaitan” job could be an indirect reference to Satan, or a superior version of the “Divine Enemy” job, which Vandalieu just maxed out.
It could also be a reference to the “Wheel of Time” series by Robert Jordan
Jonathan Hurd
That’s an interesting idea of Demigorgon. When I hear Gorgon I immediately think of Medusa personally. It could potentially be like that thanks to Death Scythes skill being to freeze people by seeing their faces. Feels like it could be kind of related, but I like your idea of its an advanced form of Demiurge.
Lord Rin
From what I remember, Demogorgon is a relatively recent word that came into being when people badly translated Demiurge and then they gave it a backstory of being some primordial entity whose name is taboo and mustn’t be spoken.
Chiu ChunLing
To be fair, that backstory was assigned to “Demiurge” by Gnostics long before the term Demogorgon arose. So you could say that “Demogorgon” is the disambiguation of “Demiurge” that clearly distinguishes the Gnostic version from the Classical Greek version.
Cydean
Celebrating a victory against a god by nomming on soul candy. Hmm, tastes like chicken. Victory is truly delicious. Also, stat party!
I was almost surprised Van didn’t recoil at getting more god-like abilities, but it seems he’s accepted his fate at this point. I will say I was really banking on him going with curse-caster since he finally started using curses, but in the long run Dead Spirit Magic has been far more useful so I can see why he picked that instead. As a side note, I kind of wanted him to absorb the Status Concealment skill all the reincarnated individuals had. I could just imagine Van.exe breaking for a few seconds getting that skill after all the stress he had over having his status revealed.
All in all, very fun chill chapter after a massive battle. Thank you very much!
PS: Van, Darcia already told you to properly think about the presents you give to others. (Arm -> Doug)
Tejing
Actually, she only said that about giving presents to girls, so it’s fine 😛
Kuro-san
Considering that Van.exe works on the basis of bugs, blue screens and errors 404, I would not be surprised if Van.exe received a temporary upgrade with the acquisition of said skill.
Ungrave
Tastes like chicken? I guess Fitun was definitely a coward.
Thanks for the chapter!
Kuro-san
Everything tastes like chicken, except chicken, which tastes like turkey.
Lord Rin
So would you say this is a Winner Winner Chicken Dinner?

I’ll see myself out.
Tejing
I admit it. I chuckled.
Jonathan Hurd
Ditto, lol
Reiji
His status might be a whole chapter on its own by the time the story is finished
Valeth
I figure a lot of skills will fuse further into each other eventually.
I read another series where they had a skill system like this and at the main characters final evolution of sorts. His pages of skills fused into only 4 skills that were all on the level of a God essentially.
Reiji
What if he only gets one unique skill by the time all this is over? Imagine getting the Unique Skill “Vandalieu” 😂
no1
Yes, we know how strong Van is now. Thank you Yoshi. Also, I CALLED IT. Van did absorb the reincarnated groups cheat abilities when he devoured their souls glad I was right about that. Next, Van wants to cover up the major facts of the situation, good to know, better to keep quiet about certain things. Van getting the demon king fragments was anti-climatic, nothing major happened with that, it was kind of weird how at first one of the fragments did not want to join with Van. I thought he was quite considerate not breaking the souls of people who had their body taken over, except for hajime. Additionally, we all kind of knew that Van would jump to level 100 after just changing to divine enemy during battle. Finally, Van is a Dead Spirit mage, that job has been there for a while. Also “god spirit magic”, that skill name sounds amazing, he controls spirits at the level of gods. Also Levia said that Van wouldn’t devour souls just to get a skill he really wanted, but her counter claim, that Van would try to convince them with surgery or brainwashing does not sound any better either. Van has super rapid regeneration now, yay. Lastly, the most adorable part is, how does Van forget about his own severed arm? Also he wants to give his arm to Doug. Hope to see the next chapter soon.
Doc
Not sure what you were expecting with the demon king fragments. Ever since Van acquired enough of them to form the demon King’s body they just kind of meld with him with no particular fanfare.
As to why the scales “didn’t want to join with him at first” that’s not really what happened. Remember, all of the fragments have a bit of consciousness in them which makes them want to combine with the main demon king body. They don’t know Van is that body immediately upon being unsealed. He’s just another potential host to it to bring them to the main body. It’s not until the fragments sense all the other fragments in Van do they realize he’s the “main body”. So what we saw was just that initial moment before the fragment realized who Van was, not because it was refusing to acknowledge Van or anything like that.
JeKeBe
Oh wow, so much to unpack in this long, long chapter! The best moments came early on though, his enjoyment and description of the comparative merits of the souls he was nomming on were just fantastic.
Then we got to see a bit more of his morality as he made a clear delineation between which souls he would and wouldn’t eat. I’ve seen more than a few call him crazy or insane, but within the frame of the world and life that he’s ended up in he could really be considered very stable, rational, and reasonable. He just wants to protect himself and his family from people that mean them real harm, the fact that he has some truly terrifying abilities to achieve that goal with is really secondary.
This is the first chapter in a while that made me stop and appreciate the depth of character that the author has given Vandalieu.
Thanks for the release, as always!
Eddy
Nor would I say that the state of Vans is the healthiest, but it is not unstable either. Looking at it on the subject of his ethics, from a certain point of view, he is not doing anything that the leaders of this world are no longer doing, mutilation, kidnapping, mind control, and in some aspects he is better than them, because so less it limits them to criminals who even the law considers that they have no opportunity for rehabilitation. and I think it is in line with the idea that Van is not a hero from another world who came to save Lambda, he is simply a dhampir who was born here with a few more memories and decided to live a good life like many other adventurous kings along the history
Jonathan Hurd
The thing I like most about Van is that he has drawn some very clear lines for himself about what who he will hurt. He knows most of the human world has labeled him a monster. He draws the line and keeps himself from stepping over it to make sure he never truly becomes the monster they see him as.
I think what’s most important to Van is to not become someone who steps on the weak. He spent over 30 years of his life in the first two worlds being abused by those who had more power. Van refuses to become like his Uncle or the Scientists of Origin.
He has never forgotten how hopeless he felt back then and how much he wished someone would save him. That’s why he goes out of his way to help those in terrible situations too. Like a fallen adventurer who lost an arm, a starving dog, a woman who lost all her limbs, or even a former coach driver and his daughters who were murdered by bandits.
Also unlike the idiotic Bravers or Heinz he doesn’t just pay lip service to helping them but actually follows through. He sticks with them to make sure they get back on their feet.
People say Vans insane, but honestly I always find that assessment a bit silly. He attacks and tortures his enemies but everyone in this world does. Honestly we’ve seen countless rulers in Lambda try to kill innocent civilians for their plots. Sure it might be strange to revive someone’s loved ones as an undead, but he doesn’t force the issue. I think a lot of us if given the choice would like to keep our loved ones around. Especially if you knew their souls might be going to an idiot like Rodidiot.
Rollrock
Not just stable, rational and reasonable, but also incredibly compassionate. He had gone out of his way to improve the lot of people he was not obligated to help in any way, indeed, people that in other circumstances would have turned on him.
Whenever he comes across wandering souls of the dead, he gives them closure and helps them move on, communing with them and avenging them if possible. He had been doing that ever since he had met Sam and his daughters and that hasn’t changed, so I assume he still does it off-screen using parallel thought processing too.
Van slowly but surely is becoming providence itself, he repays the good and punishes evil, he is probably the best thing to happen to Lambda in the world’s history, as it had been filled with nothing but gods attempting to satisfy their egos, toying with mortals, bloody wars and alien monster invasions so far. That is not to say that Van isn’t trying to satisfy his own goals, but it just so happens that the way he goes about it tends to result in minimized suffering and maximized happiness for everyone involved, all thanks to him being insanely powerful and unlike many others in position of power, he does not take it for granted.
Van is now truly aware of how strong he is and he also understands that his strength enables him to bring about true change and how much he owes to it, so he has the will and presence of mind to know when to use it and when not to use it.
Superboy8338
This chapters reminded me of that meteorite that eats brains in The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy. WAY YO GO, VAN!!!

that chapter has an excellent song

Title: True Ruler of the Red-light District (NEW!)
11 years old an already a pimp king… my my
Eddy
Everyone in the city thinks he is a precocious child, when he is just a young man who waits patiently until he is old enough to do those things and who at first only wanted to get married and have a couple of children, never go to such businesses. guy, well, maybe if it’s a place specializing in muscular girls, Van would have been, well, maybe even the current Van would be tempted
Skarbrand
Reminds me of a certain character from One Piece.
VEreality
Thanks for the chapter Yoshi-sama!
Man… I just googled the new jobs. When I saw what those are about(or at least the myths behind them) I was like:”This ’bout to get good!”
In my honest opinion, any rational person will be shiting bricks at the concept of them fighting Van at this point in time. Them knowing that he now has the ability to take the special abilities of the Bravers will just make any reincarnated individual to just raise the white flag the moment they get to Lambda.
I do not think that Rodcorte(yes I used his name for once) will tell any of them about this. He may be a slow learner but there are Bravers who refused to fight Van. He is going to make Van look like a monster in their eyes. However, I belive that he will try to make the odds seem more favorable for them.
Nice chapter.
Also, what would Ereshkigal think about the Nergal job? *wink*
Jonathan Hurd
To be fair they don’t know Van can absorb cheat abilities quite yet. Rodidiots(I refuse to use his real name, lol) info network is pretty limited near Van since everyone around him is guided. Only way I could see them finding out is if Van used the skills in a battle with Alda followers. Considering most of Aldas forces are training and they just lost a Heroic God I doubt Aldas raring for round two.
Now considering how panicked and scared of Van Rodidiot has become. I don’t doubt he would tell people that Van is going to come killing them no matter what.
I also feel like Rodidiot is kind of past the point of giving ‘choices’ to fight Van or not. My guess is either you willingly fight or you get put down as slaves in an Alda church. Either choice I think future reincarnators will be passed to Alda to use as he sees fit.
I’m with you on finding out Eshrigals thoughts on the Nergal job, lol. I think Pluto and some of the more assertive personalities of Legion will cheer for Van to pick it. It would get them closer to their title of Holy Flesh Wife, lol.
VEreality
Lmao I forgot about that title.
Kazza
Yikes, that’s a lot of stats. And titles. And jobs. Heck, at this point, I think another appendix will have to be added to the end of each volume just to save space in the chapters.
Not much to talk about. I mean, we can guess and debate on all those jobs and titles, but overall this chapter was mostly exposition.
To be honest, I’m more excited to see the alter-ego “Bruce Wayne”-ing Van will have to do soon.
Does anyone else have a feeling Kanako is going to try to pull something? Like, maybe add to the story that she’s the great elder’s daughter and Van’s fiance or something? I dunno, something about her repeating it over and over makes me think she’s not just doing it for memory. Plus, Venus makes it so that memory issues are literally impossible for her…
Doc
I don’t think Kanako views Van in such a way that she’d want to make up being his fiancé. She likes theater so I think her repeating the line is just her habit of memorizing a script. Even if her ability would remember it perfectly anyway.
Also we just finished a big story arc so of course things will slow down for awhile as a new story arc ramps up. These moments of exposition are important to show us the growth of our characters.
Julian Skilton
I doubt it. After her transformation and his enticement hitting her full force, she views him as an older brother, similar to Pauvina. I’m guessing, like the others, that Kanako is trying to memorize her lines, and trying to practice dealing with the chunni backstory.
Eddy
In reality, she is in a personal debate about what it is for Van or what role she can play in her life
Lord Rin
No once she got guided she called him really handsome whereas neither Doug or Melissa who got guided at the same time said anything like it. They just said he looked a little bit more charismatic. Also Kanako was really surprised when she thought Van said he preferred Melissa over her in what could be considered a romantic manner. Plus the character chapters at the end of volumes have said Kanako has become deeply obsessed with Van. She has tried to call him big brother but given how she then tried to sneak into his room to wake him up while fully expecting something echi to happen I would think she was trying to fill the brocon role in Van’s harem.
Doc
You’re going to have to source that as I’m not remembering any of that. Calling somebody handsome is not proof positive of love.
Tejing
There’s no irrefutable proof that Kanako’s into Van, but there are some fairly heavy-handed hints:
Chapter 181:
Chapter 193:
Side Chapter 30:
Volume 9 Character Summary Part 1:
Happy?
Doc
Reads more like Japan’s weird obsession with brother/sister complexes than her being in love with Van.
But fair enough, some of those quotes could be interpreted that way. It doesn’t change how her action in this chapter was still just her trying to memorize lines of a script so that she can get her role in the story right.
Haraken
She along with Doug and Mellisa pretty much was adopted by Darcia.
After living her previous life where she was viewed from everyone at a safe distance (even by most other reincarnators). Meeting Van and Co. in Lambda is basically the first time, since her being outed as a special ability holder in her previous life, that she can actually freely interact with other without them keeping distance and being extra cautious of her “brainwashing”.
She is elated about being able to freely interact with people and actually connect with them and got some people that she can consider as closely as family in some ways. Van abilities overshadows Kanoko in terms of danger but he found people that accepted him as he is with everything he is able to do, something that Kanoko didn’t have until joining his group.
I’m not saying that Kanoko doesn’t feel any infatuation of any kind, but that if she does it is currently overshadowed by her elation of actually having people she can relate to and who reciprocate it in kind.
You can also think of it that way: For most people in Origin Kanoko was merely the host of a powerful brainwashing ability (nothing more, any relationship she had was based on people stance on her ability), in Lambda people consider her as Kanoko the girl who love making spectacles who also is hyped about having people she can consider family.
Chiu ChunLing
Kanako is basically a blatant gold-digger. But she’s not an idiot with no self-awareness like most gold-diggers, she knows what’s unattractive and therefore counterproductive about being a gold-digger and she avoids those pitfalls. First, she understands that virginity is a big added value component for guys who are looking to invest a significant amount of wealth in a girl, so she doesn’t give hers away cheap. Second, she knows how to spot guys who are going to skip on actually forking over anything. Third, she has a cheat ability that has greatly improved the first and second points while also giving her the ability to pretend to give her virginity away while retaining it (and incidentally satisfies any curiosity she might have about what it would be like to lose her virginity).
The result of all these is that Kanako is probably still a virgin, though definitely for basically impure reasons. In her first life she’d settled on the boring and prudent strategy of reserving herself to one man for life rather than trying to become an idol. In her second life she became an idol while using her ability to ensure she never had to actually put out. But her ability was probably worse for her willingness to actually have a relationship with a man than Izumi’s is, we can compare it with Narumi who clearly understands that overusing her ability would make it impossible to have personal relationships.
Van may not be the ‘ideal’ partner for her, but he’s the only one so far out of three worlds who meets her criteria. He’s so wealthy and powerful it can no longer be compared to mortals using ordinary arithmetic. He’s also pretty undemanding and generous. In fact it wouldn’t matter to him if Kanako had direct (rather than copied) experiences…but it’s not like she actually wants any experiences that she can just copy anywhere.
She’d be a fool not to try and pull something.

Gordon Ramsay got nothing on the souls of gods
Lord Rin
Van needs some bread for not one but TWO Idiot Sandwiches: Rodcorte and Alda.
Lord Rin
Heh it’s funny that Van says that Fitun’s soul’s taste covers up the bland-tasting parts. In other words it means Hajime’s soul taste like crap.
Oh so Gordon and the others’ soul hadn’t been devoured. I’d assumed that they had been. Eh I guess they have been punished enough to warrant their souls not being eaten.
So Van did acquire the cheats of the reincarnators along with Fitun’s Divine Authorities. Though they ended up integrating into other existing skills. At least it keeps them from being added to Van’s already ridiculously long list of skills. Ah wait I just realized that it wasn’t mentioned that Van got Murakami’s Super Mana Regeneration cheat. Maybe it’s such a low level cheat that it either automatically got integrated to another skill without even being announced or it’ll be addressed later and become something important to the plot.
Welp time for Van to begin constructing his alibi and making evidence to suggest Fitun or his champions were behind this. Truthfully it’ll probably only end up being a minor inconvenience to Alda’s side but whatever.
Kanako does have a point that Rodcorte will try to spin it that Van is actively eating souls to gain cheat skills. He’s dumb as hell but even he must be able to figure out that Van probably got their cheats when he’s unable to retrieve them like he did with Death Scythe and Gungnir. Sure Aran and the other two would probably object and try to explain to the others that Van isn’t actively trying to eat their souls to get their cheats but well Rodcorte can just paralyze them or forbid them from saying anything which they are bound follow since he is their superior.
So Van really did max out his Divine Enemy job already. I’ve heard of most of the new jobs before except Shaitan and Chi You. I was kinda hoping he’d pick a weird job. Dead Spirit Mage is fine though since it awakened Dead Spirit Magic into God Spirit Magic.
Anyways so now we know what Fitun’s swords were. They only ever said they were Demon King equipment. So they were the Demon King’s Scales. Yeah I also agree with Van that it’s weird that they were turned into swords. A shield would’ve made more sense I think.
So anyways Doug is weirded out that Van said it’s fine to turn his arm into a weapon. Meanwhile it kinda seems weird how Kanako is so flustered about saying ‘great elder’ like it has some other connotation or implication. Like maybe because of her feelings for Van she thinks it means something romantic or whatever.
Doc
I don’t think the story mentioned Murakami’s super mana regeneration because Van already has a better form of it. He has both “Constant mana recovery” and “Increased Mana Recovery Rate Level 9”. Coupled with having more mana than your average god, he was already recovering more mana than he could ever spend. So super mana regeneration would be redundant for Van and ultimately unnecessary.
Also you’re the second person who thought Kanako’s reaction was strange. I did not get that connotation from her reaction and think you’re over thinking it. Kanako sees herself as a stage performer. So her actions were inline with an actress trying to memorize their script.
Dr. Steel
Ah the script thing makes sense
Dr. Steel
Yeah, Dead Spirit Mage is fine, and the skill suggests some potential for the future, but I really want him to start collecting the Myth jobs, I’m sure they’d give him awesome skills and bonuses. Also, he has two guider jobs left, so he should collect those. And his Guidance skill has two levels to go, so it would be cool to see if and what it evolves into. There is a lot of cool stuff to look forward too.

“Spirit Form Transformation: Lightning” sounds like it could be really cool. I wonder if he’ll get analogous abilities for other attributes?
I suppose those “Divinity” skills are basically Fitun’s authorities… meaning Van is a thunder god and a war god now.
I definitely expected him to gain the reincarnators’ cheat-like abilities when he ate them, though it’s interesting that they transformed in the process, so they don’t do exactly the same thing. Also, what happened to “Super Mana Recovery”? He didn’t get it :-/ Well, maybe it’ll turn up later.
I’m not as worried as Kanako about what the reincarnators think. The 3 familiar spirits would definitely try to present the more Van-friendly view of the situation.
Lots of skill levels ups there. “Super Rapid Regeneration” is definitely good to have. You can never have too much regen.
Now that he has the “Demon King’s Scale”, the “Scaled Emperor” title should finally be able to exhibit its full effect, heh.
That “Hollow Shadow Caster” job intrigues me. The name seems to suggest some kind of unification of death and no-attribute magic, though I might just be misunderstanding.
“God Spirit Magic” is a surprise, though a welcome one. “Dead Spirit Magic” was always one of his most dependable skills, and I was looking forward to how it would evolve. It seems like it probably has some new aspect to it that’s not apparent yet. I look forward to finding out.
Another 30% more mana is a pretty hefty boost. Though at this point I’m not sure he really has much use for more mana… Still, he should be able to fire more hollow cannons before he’s out. Also, can “Mana Enlargement” awaken? what kind of monstrous skill would it become if it did?
Those stats are getting more and more insane. Schneider is an S-class stat-focused build and Van’s way ahead of him now.
“Throwing Technique”, “Armor Technique”, and “Shield Technique” are all getting quite close to awakening. Having those as superior skills should definitely increase his versatility against high-skill-level opponents once it happens.
Does “Staff Technique” affect his use of magic through the staff or only his use of the staff as a weapon?
I’m still waiting for “Magic Resistance” to awaken. It seems like it would turn into something really nice.
Lord Rin
Hollow Shadow Caster is probably a job that has to do with using the Demon King’s Shadow.
I don’t know about Van being way ahead of Schneider. Weren’t his stats around the 20,000 range even before he met Van and got his and others’ divine protections? Their stats are probably comparable instead.
Tejing
That makes sense, except that I can’t really imagine what kind of interplay there might be between the DK’s shadow and no-attribute magic.
I wasn’t very clear. I meant way ahead of where Schneider was for a long time, before he got a bunch of divine protections. He was already an S-class adventurer, and significantly stat-focused, at the time, so I’m just using that point in his life as a benchmark. I’m sure he’s grown since then, though it’s hard to gauge how much.
Lord Rin
I don’t think it has anything to do with no-attribute magic. It’s probably just to indicate how Van uses his shadows like a boundless void to store things.
Tejing
Well everything else with “Hollow” in the name has been, but that’s not exactly an airtight argument. Hopefully we’ll find out.
Zenden1st
Def has something to do with demon frags and no attribute mana
I dont see how attributed mana can mix with demon frags they said demon frags absorb mana or something awhile ago, i dont think van can even fix that.
Tejing
Ah, I just realized, “Hollow Shadow Caster” is the same job that was previously translated as “False Shadow User”, so it was in fact mentioned before. The first kanji does seem to be the same one Yoshi has translated as “Hollow” in other skill and spell names, so I’d go with this chapter’s translation of it over the previous one.
VEreality
Not a spoiler!!! But I did look ahead to see Van’s stats in the future and my lord are they big. This is baby Van compared to what we are up to man. Looking up to see how he gets there!
bk3k
Indeed they are much larger, but that wouldn’t be a spoiler since anyone would assume that would happen to some degree or another. What specifically happens would be too much of a spoiler, but I could give out something minor that might be guessed anyhow – [spoiler title=””] Remember his age. Van hasn’t yet hit his growth spurt. A normal child would experience growing pains, but normally no one would have superhuman stats as a child. That being the case, it is a surprisingly dangerous time. His regeneration skill is going to get a workout. [/spoiler]
DarkCarnage
true and he only had one growth spurt so far and it took i’m out for a while, just think what his ‘teen’ year going to be like if he did not get super regen.

There are countless discutions and a wiki page for this novel. If you look at Van’s stats/ atributes on wiki you can see a history of his stats. You can find a description from chapter 300 something(I belive. I don’t remember well what chapter). Just the stats.
I found it while trying to see Van’s progres.
no1
It was cool how Van acquired Fitun’s divinity, so yeah he may have authority over the areas the Fitun once had.
Renrobt
Honestly if we combine God Spirit Magic and his now even more insane Mana he might just be able to create souls or pseudo-souls at least. He might even make Death Magic Ghosts at this rate.
Also my prediction that he might elevate his ghosts into godhood seems to be closer than expected. I mean God Spirit Magic? Controlling Ghosts on the level of gods? While the wiki is not completely trustworthy, according to it the last we saw the ranks of Levia, Orbia, and Kimberley (the 3 strongest ghosts) was in chapter 185 (that was when Van visited the dark continent). And they were rank 11, 10 and 10 respectively. If Van’s hypothesis that a rank 13 or above ghost is comparable to a God then they should be reaching that threshold now, since they did participate in a fight against an actual god. And before that in the fight against an Evil God. Tho it was mostly the light attribute ghosts at that time.
Also lets just pause for a second: Van now has access to Fire, Water, Lightning, Light, and Space magic through his ghosts. That means he has access to 4 and half (since only lighting not wind) out of the 8 elemental magic native to Lambda. Add in his Mastery of Death Magic and No-attribute, and his Mana pool that already surpasses that of regular gods and its not hard to imagine he might as well just become God of Magic by the end.
Dr. Steel
What if he became the one true god of Lambda, with the ghosts as his subordinate gods to help manage the attributes? And he doesn’t have a life attribute ghost, so Vida can be life goddess, but he can replace Alda easy with the Ex-vampire (can’t remember his name) Light attribute ghost.
Renrobt
Yeah exactly the idea that popped up in my head as well. Since he is mastering parallel thought processing, and he can just create new heads and brains to further do the same, he might as well have the mental capacity to manage an entire attribute or 2.
Also lets just appreciate how powerful Dead Spirit Magic is: He was able to erase a mountain just with flames, he is able to kill High Rank Lightning Dragons WITH lighting, and create a Barrier so strong that it resists all but the strongest attacks of a GOD. And that is before he got a job that gives bonuses to it.
And while yeah he doesn’t have life attribute ghosts, but honestly at the rate he is going? He might have the full spectrum of attributes in another year or 2. Especially Life attribute as it is one of the attributes that can counter his Death magic to a degree. And as long as he doesn’t devour them, they could easily became ghosts.
Also lets not forget his power over souls. While Vida had to create an imitation of a reincarnation system, Van could very well create a new one especially considering that as his powers grow the range from which he attracts spirits also increases. If he reaches actual God level, that might as well cover the whole planet. And we can see that when someone dies within Van’s range they don’t return to the transmigration cycle, they go to Van. He can choose to release them, employ them, give them new life or even devour them. And most ghosts instantly get guided by him, so even if he releases them, they will be entering Vida’s system.
The point is, if his powers cover the whole planet Rodcorte would probably loose whatever little authority he has. Suddenly Rodcorte’s fixation on killing Van seems almost reasonable. After all he would loose what little power he has over the planet, while still being tied to it because of Van spreading his name.
Valeth
I figure Levia, Orbia, Kimberly, and perhaps a few others become subordinate gods for Van. The rest will most likely become heroic spirits or the something of that sort.
I mean Van’s clones are his familiar spirits, and Heroic Spirits are suppose to be stronger but reserved for only the strongest people to use.
Phantom Knight
Honestly, I am still waiting to see both the [Alchemy] and [Cooking] skills awaken into their superior versions? I really am hoping for the [Dark Alchemy] and [Valhalla/Divine Cooking] skills to show up!!! I can see so much potential from them as long as Vandalieu can somehow acquire them.
As for the newly modified Death King Magic, I think I can foresee some of the possible spells that can result from the absorption of the cheats. For example, he might acquire the mist transformation often associated with vampires, a heart grasping/stopping attack, future visions of possible deaths, “time (AKA lifespan)” cutting attacks, and so on. I am actually looking forward to seeing whether any of these guesses will happen.
Renrobt
Yeah as soon as I saw that the abilities were absorbed into DK Magic I started wondering how he could manifest the abilities. Well the obvious would have been if he could just use the abilities as they were used, but that was quickly shot down.
So here are my ideas on how the abilities integrated:
Odin(future sight) – Upgraded danger sense + foreseeing a target’s death
Sylphid(Mist form) – Upgrade to spirit form and bloodlust. Possibly free manipulation of his body without need spiritform+materialization.
Death Scythe – Yeah possibly the ability to cast or apply his magic inside targets without needing to fuse his spirit form with them, after all originally its a long range ability that allows to stop anything on or in a target.
Chronos – Upgraded death delay, possibly near infinite
The rest I can’t exactly imagine what they would do or what they could upgrade, but considering how wide of a selection of abilities Van has its probably more like I just can’t remember all, and I don’t want to go through them all right now.
The one I really hope he can fully replicate is Gungnir. If he could do that he could just designate Allies+Bystanders+Terrain and use hollow cannon to erase enemies with no damage to his side. Well with the designation I just wrote he would erase all vegetation, buildings, and clothing so that might still be awkward but better then obliterating innocents and allies.
Mitchelltrt
The Divinity skills were kinda eaten by Demigod, so he has access to the authority but is not god of that thing. He isn’t even a right and proper God yet, much less a God of Death, Magic, Reincarnation, War, and everything else.
Kanako and Van are right to be worried, as they don’t know about the three spirits that are on their side.
Scaled Emperor, if I recall correctly, just increases relations with lizardkin and other scaled sentients, especially those he rules over.
Mana Enlargement will just awaken into Super Mana Enlargement, just like Rapid Regeneration awakened into Super Rapid Regeneration. AKA, another ten levels of basically the same skill. Magic Resistance will probably have a similar awakening, becoming Supreme Magic Resistance, though other options include Magic Nullification or Magic Absorption.
Staff Technique probably has the same types of limitations as Throwing Technique, Armor Technique, Shield Technique, Whip Technique, and Soul Destruction Fighting Technique (Which awakened from Unarmed Fighting Technique). This means that it affects the use of a staff, a two-handed blunt weapon similar to a spear without a point, in combat. Magic skills, aka Hollow King, Dark King, and God Spirit Magic, affect his use of magic regardless of if he uses a staff, a gun, or any other weapon.
As other people have mentioned, the stats are only going to get worse. Van is only 11 years old, and has yet to start puberty. Give it five or ten years, and his stats will probably be a hundred times the current ones. Though this will be an issue, as just like with the minor growth spurt he already has, his regeneration will be required to hold his body together and he won’t be able to move properly during each growth spurt. Where a normal person has growing pains, Van is literally ripping his body apart a thousand times and putting it back together.
Dr. Steel
Good thing he just got Super Rapid Regeneration then.
Tejing
Not to beat a dead horse, but (in this story) demigods are not necessarily less than gods in any way. They’re just gods who have bodies. In fact, before Guduranis invaded, even the great gods of Lambda were actually demigods. That didn’t stop Vida from being the Goddess of Life and Love back then, and it wouldn’t stop Van from being a Thunder God or a War God now.
Kanako does know that the 3 angels tried to convince her, and the others who were deciding what to do at the same time, that Van would leave them alone as long as they didn’t antagonize him. It’s reasonable to suppose they’d keep doing that.
Scaled Emperor also apparently makes the bearer’s scales more beautiful. (check chapter 102) It’s not important, I just thought it was an amusing tidbit.
This is just my interpretation, but I don’t think Van will go through the growing pains thing again. I think the limiter on his stats was released already, and there shouldn’t be any more stages of release or anything.
Jonathan Hurd
I believe that Scaled Emperor title in addition to improving the impression scaled beings have of you. Makes any scales you personally have more luxurious.
Dr. Steel
It would be nice for that Job to be Hollow/Dark King oriented. Can’t wait to see what all the awakening skills will be. Magic Resistance in particular, what if like Status Effect Resistance it became complete Immunity? Just casually unaffected by magic. If someone invented nuke magic and fired it at him, he could be, “Did you just do something?”
Skarbrand
Presumably it will become “Magical Nullification” much like Physical Nullification.
Tejing
Yeah, that’s pretty much exactly what I was thinking. Total passive immunity to magic, without needing to shield, would be so much more of a cheat than the bravers’ cheats.
Valeth
I’m not sure all skills awaken necessarily.
I mean his mom has 10/10 in Physical and Magical, plus Super Rapid Regeneration already. So really he is just rising to her level.
Skarbrand
Hollow Shadow Caster does sound like it involves hollow king magic. I am surprised that Van did not gain Physical Resistance after getting blown apart so much, though.
Tejing
Yeah, it would have made a lot of sense for him to get that. Would be a good addition to his skill set too.
Jonathan Hurd
I think it was explained in an early chapter, but getting skills like physical resistance or rapid regeneration without being born with it or gotten from a job is really hard. Just taking some punches and slashes isn’t really going to do it or half the people in Lambda would have it.
Would ‘ve pretty awesome if Van could get the skill though. Definitely helpful in future battles.

I feel like the Dark King Mage job is a little to vanilla for Van to take at this point. It would probably increase his mana and magic stats which he’s already drowning in. Then increase his Dark King magic, but probably not much else.
I think he’d get more improvement of Dark King magic if he goes one of the death God related jobs like Pale Rider or Tartarus.
