It is fine, but it drops some potential storylines and leaves some of the potentialy important characters underused (like Braver or Asagi in their ideological conflict with Van). Plus it ends in a way that makes it impossible to continue the story with anything other than slice-of-life comedy. From what I’ve heard, the author has decided to change the ending in the LN version, so it may become fitting for the afterstory. Maybe something like now nonexistent WN version of Monster Tamer (with wars between worlds). Or maybe it’ll just turn into something like arifureta garbage…

Facts. He only started uploading when the threat of losing money happened. And once that changed, he switched his tune real quick. This recent mass of releases only proves that Yoshi is a lazy bum. Although, as I recall, it was mentioned that he’ll be translating heavily only for a couple of months, so we could be in the “chapter-per-month” territory again. Also, it looks like he charges 200$ only for the “extra-long chapters”.

While according description in story, Van doesn’t have weapon/skill that look like this, it is close enough and honestly it looks cool. He looks like secret agent or something. At the time of the story, Van did try developing his own gun. It was more like a pipe and it blew up every time he used it. He used it against Bellmond and Ternecia.
As for the skill that he levelled with it, I believe he got Artillery spell thanks to it.

Sometimes, when translators are too busy with the real life and can’t deliver the expected, or go on hiatus due to the personal reasons, they pass the baton to other translators and let them continue the translation. And I’m pretty sure that Yoshi is one of the few people aware of this secret, because, as I recall, at some point he took over the Tsukimichi translation for a time, when the original tranlator was busy with the real life stuff.
And I SINCERELY hope that YOUR comments won’t age like milk and we’ll actually see the end of the series somewhere in the next year.

It’s fine being understanding and all. But the end of the day results have to account for something and people who want to see the end of the story have a right to … want to see it sooner than a decade from now.
This isn’t to say Yoshi’s work isn’t appreciated. Because it certainly is. But no matter how good his translation is if it takes too long then that’s an issue by itself.
Which is why this burst in translation that’s carving out a MASSIVE chunk of the story is SUPER EXTRA appreciated.

As for the translation itself: it’s good. Yeah, Yoshi’s hand translated ones with explanations for idioms and the like will always be better, but he’s so damn slow as of late he’ll probably never finish.

The funniest thing is that this translation gets about 35 millions monthly views. Not a bad traffic for a reading site, I’d say. Don’t know how much money they’re getting from the ads, but for a site that is mostly abandoned (they don’t even care about cleaning that spam from the comments)… I mean, if you’re getting paid for doing nothing, why bother doing anything? And you can just keep your ass sitting on this translation, while rarely releasing some symbolic updates, so that other translators won’t try to pick it up (because “translator’s integrity” and stuff), and people gonna pay you in hopes that one day (in about 10 years, following the current pace) it’ll be finished…

Although it’s only on the second volume out of 9 currently released (and even that covers about 120 WN chapters out of 400+ total, so it’s gonna be a looong wait – if we’re to assume twice-per-year release without any story arcs being added/cut, it’d take about 15 years to release it fully). Maybe not a good return just to read one single novel series, but if you want to read other things released for free in the internet I think is worth it, specially because by reading this way you keep learning more and more Japanese until you can skip the automatic translators and just search now and then for details difficult to understand.

There’s only so many excuses you can make before it just seems like Bone-idleness. $150 is a fair bit if cash in this day and age. It could be the deciding factor if a family eats that week. However Yoshi asks us for that $150 per chapter which he may or may not translate. Ngl 150 is a bit steep a price anyway but to be fair it’s a really high quality translation. If people are paying upto 150 bucks then you need to provide a product in timely manner. Yoshi does have the time, unless he works for a black company that uses him for slave labour or he constantly breaks both arms and every bone in his hands all at once. He should have a couple of hours a day to translate. Even if it’s only 1 hour a day spent on translation to be released once a week there’s time in the day when you’re being payed 150 per chapter. Saying you’re too busy to even release once a month is utter horseshit and fraud quite frankly. Yoshi needs to do better or at least come up with decent excuses

Too much time, I’d say – with all those arms being broken again and again and again (although I have no idea how a broken arm could interfere with working on a translation), “work” and “lack of work” etc. And from what I understand he now works on the translation ONLY when he’s paid, but even when he’s paid he doesn’t work (judging by the comments of people who paid him) fast enough to make you want to pay him. I also have some experience with translating, and while I don’t know how difficult it is to translate from japanese to english, I don’t think that 1-2 chapters per month is an adequate speed (from my experience, if you dedicate your time to it, then a chapter-per-day is nothing insane; a chapter-per-week if you do it in a relaxed tempo).
Now imagine if Bakapervert took over this translation…

He even made it so that you can pay for chapters in advance, but hardly translates once a month. It’s ridiculous at this point. If there weren’t so many pushovers in the Discord, I’d have voiced it already. He’s getting you to pay $150 a chapter, but there’s more than 10 chapters paid for that he hasn’t translated. Getting paid for work he hasn’t done is just robbery. This dude has milked 1000s of dollars from the fandom, but you wouldn’t guess it by how much they worship him on the Discord server.
This is why I don’t pay for translations anymore. When you pay someone to do a job, they’re supposed to do it. I can understand being busy, but if he were really so busy that he couldn’t translate he should refund everyone that paid for translations but didn’t get them. Or pass on the project to someone that actually has time to work on it. But he won’t, and he will milk this series as much as possible. I actually expect him to raise the price of translations again once the story nears the end. He’ll use some bs excuse as always, and people will do it because he essentially has the monopoly on the translation. I made this account today just to thank Yoshi, and all the editors, for putting out so many chapters last couple of weeks especially. This LN is one of my favorite to read and forget everything for a bit. Recently I lost a very close family member which is tearing me up however these chapters are one of the few things that have made me smile since it happened. It may seem silly to some, couldn’t care less about any who do, but seriously thank you for all that you do which has allowed me just enough at times to keep it together. I wish all of you all the happiness in the world for bringing some to others when they might need it.

I read it constantly for more than a year hoping that it updates quicker, than I realize it is getting me nowhere so I temporarily stopped reading it so here I am back after 1 year and about 2-5 months later. “And I forgot which chapter I was at the time so I have decided to start reading the novel again and this is currently the only novel I have bothered to read from scratch again”

Some people can’t seem to wrap thier heads around what happened 100,000 years before the main story takes place, so I’ll use an analogy to try to dumb it down a bit.

Pretend for a moment that the demon king and his army are a brick wall, and that wall is standing between the people of lambda and their only source of fresh water. The gods of lambda summon some people from earth to help everyone break down the wall and get to the water before everyone dies from dehydration. Zarakart suggests creating a sledgehammer to use to break down the wall, but Bellwood is against that idea because he is afraid that the people will use the hammer to hurt each other, so he wants everyone to break down the brick wall by bashing thier heads against it, and if some people die from traumatic brain injury, it can’t be helped because there isn’t a better option. Zarakart ignores Bellwood and makes several smaller hammers as practice before he tries to create a sledgehammer. Bellwood is still vehemently opposed to the creation of any and all hammers as he is using the smaller hammers to chip away at the brick wall while the people of Lambda are still bashing thier heads against the wall, so he leaves Zarakart to die of thirst. By the time Bellwood and his followers have broken a tiny hole just big enough for one or two people to squeeze through, millions upon millions of people have died of thirst and traumatic brain injuries, leaving only 3,000 alive. Despite not having been able to make it through the wall without the smaller hammers Zarakart had made, Bellwood claims that he was right all along and prevents anyone else from making hammers of thier own to widen the hole so more people can get to the water. When Vida makes some people who are able to survive with less water than normal, Bellwood claims that it is sacrilege and that all of the thirst resistant people be hunted down and slaughtered, then proceeds to attempt to murder Vida by savagely beating her with the smaller hammers Zarakart had made before he died. Vida manages to escape with crippling injuries, but Bellwood is still intent on killing her.

Characters do not “need” to be lost in a story like this one, at least not the ones on the protagonist’s side.
Van’s focus on preparation, loss prevention, and being ready and able to handily destroy or devour all exterior threats exceedingly delves into the realm of the obsessive, and not without reason.
It might seem a bit contrived how there have been little to no true casualties on Van’s side after his mother’s execution, but that is the sort of story this is, I think. It is a power fantasy of taking back everything that was taken from you, safeguarding what’s yours, exceeding boundaries, and becoming happy (to the direct detriment of active or potential aggressors).
Will Van eventually lose people? We shall see, and they better make it count if he does, and not simply because he “needs” to lose them for the sake of “game balance.”

Yeah, It’s a really worthy reading. The story begings since the protagonist is a baby, so, yeah, the protagonist is a Shota because the story doesn’t have Timeskips.
And yeah, there are some details that could be not welcome. To begining with, the world it’s cruel and “raw” (I don’t what is the exactly word in english).
Thus, it’s not a Fairy story. But one of its strong point is that everything in this novel (or almost everything) has an explication, has a justification.
For me, it’s one of the best worldbuilding that I have read. Every Characther has his/her personality. And, Unlike other novels, the protagonist doesn’t move his world, the world moves the protagonist.

He is correct, this is a “Dark Fantasy” story with fantastic character development and world-building.
If you don’t mind a fair amount of Gore and horror stuff then give it a shot.

Despite not being a big fan of Dark Fantasy myself, I’d strongly recommend it, while this series does have some dark moments it’s rather light compared to the brutality of some other dark fantasies and we actually get happy endings here!
And how often do you see a character all angry and hell bent on revenge calm down and let go of his hatred because being happy and enjoying life with those who are important to him is better?
