Murakami’s group, who had agreed to Rodcorte’s request to kill Vandalieu, had a daily routine of scouting his location with their Target Radars, which detected masses of over 100,000,000 death-attribute Mana.
Rodcorte had created the Target Radar ability based on the assumption that nobody other than Vandalieu possessed death-attribute Mana. It was an excellent ability that allowed the user to concentrate and sense which direction the source of death-attribute Mana was and how far away it was.
However, with Legion’s appearance, Vandalieu’s creation of large death-attribute devices (such as the devices that automatically created Undead in the former Scylla territory) and the development of Demon King Familiars, there were now more sources of death-attribute Mana.
On top of that, Vandalieu used Legion’s Teleportation to travel between various places. Thus, Murakami’s group had become unable to tell which of the responses from their Target Radars was created by Vandalieu.
Thus Murakami had requested that Rodcorte make them able to see the quantity of death-attribute Mana. Though Rodcorte hadn’t been able to allow them to see exact numbers, he had improved the ability to allow them to tell which source of Mana was the greatest. With this, they had become able to tell where Vandalieu was.
“… So, he’s staying in the Alcrem Duchy now,” Murakami murmured, checking his handmade map and comparing it to the death-attribute Mana source that he could sense.
The map contained the twelve duchies of the Orbaume Kingdom as well as the central region that contained the royal capital. However, the only things marked on it were the boundaries between the duchies, the cities and the main highways; it was a very rough map compared to the maps available on Earth or in Origin.
However, it was a map created by the ‘Sylphid’ Misa Anderson, who had used her ability to turn her body into gas to infiltrate noblemen’s mansions and large companies to copy their maps.
“That’s unexpected. I was sure that he would choose either the Birgitt Duchy because it’s the southernmost among the Duchies along the mountain range, or the Jahan Duchy because it’s the farthest,” said Misa.
Duke Birgitt was a Beast-person, and Duke Jahan was a Titan.
The Alcrem Duchy was one of the northernmost duchies in the Orbaume Kingdom; it was located just east of the Sauron Duchy. It didn’t have a particularly large population of Vida’s races, nor was it particularly influential within the nation.
Regardless of what Vandalieu was doing, Misa couldn’t understand why he had chosen the Alcrem Duchy.
“The Birgitt Duchy is just west of the Farzon Duchy, right? Where the guy who killed his mom, Heinz, apparently is. It looks like he’s avoiding him, doesn’t it? Jeez, first ‘Metamorph’ and now Vandalieu, are parents really that important? To us, the parents in worlds that we’re reincarnated in are just victims of our brood parasitism,” the ‘Odin’ Akira Hazamada said, shaking his head as if he couldn’t understand this way of thinking.
Misa frowned at his comparison of their reincarnation to cuckoos laying their eggs in other birds’ nests. “We don’t really need to sympathize with them, you know,” she said. “Getting back on-topic, even if that’s the reason he didn’t choose the Birgitt Duchy, why did he choose the Alcrem Duchy?”
“Who knows. Maybe there’s some reason that we don’t know about? Maybe there’s a Devil’s Nest or Dungeon in the Alcrem Duchy that spawns Undead-type monsters frequently, or maybe the Alcrem Duchy is part of the territory of one of his Vampire subordinates,” said Akira, shrugging.
“Stop messing around –” Misa began.
“He’s messing around, but it’s true that there’s no point in trying to figure it out here,” said Murakami, interrupting her. “Rodcorte’s information is perfect when it comes to human society, but it’s useless for everything else. On top of that, it’s not like we’ve even been given that information… There’s a limit to how much we can hear each time we use Familiar Spirit Descent. And we can’t use it over and over without drawing a lot of attention to ourselves,” he pointed out. “We’re heading to the Alcrem Duchy tomorrow. He’s been in the Alcrem Duchy for ten days. He’s returned to the inside of the Boundary Mountain Range once, but went back after just a few hours. He’s probably still intending to do something there. Rodcorte’s apparently still talking to this world’s gods or something, so there’s no information for us, but… it’s a waste of time for us to sit still and wait until it’s all over.”
“You’re right,” Misa agreed. “It’ll take us a month to reach the Alcrem Duchy from here, even if we take the side road… Wait,” she said suddenly. “The signal’s suddenly moved south.”
“Yeah, I can sense it too. It’s … Umm, considering our current location, the Farzon Duchy,” said Akira, pointing to the signal’s location on the map. “But why is it that we can’t tell his height, whether he’s above or below us?”
“It’s obvious, right?” Murakami said, grimacing. “He’s in a special space where there is no up or down, the inside of a Dungeon. But… why did he Teleport to the inside of a Dungeon all of a sudden? In the Farzon Duchy at that, even though he hasn’t ever been there as far as we know. I don’t think it’s very likely that he’s gone to avenge his mother.”
Murakami did not know the exact location of the Dungeon that the Five-colored Blades were facing; he was oblivious to the fact that his last words were actually a little close to the truth.
Curatos, the god of records, was bewildered.
Heinz was now on the 65th floor, on the second battle against Vandalieu. Curatos had inputted the most recent information regarding Vandalieu in order to create the fake Vandalieu for this trial.
And Heinz’s party had begun trying to clear the 65th floor, but… there was something strange about the fake Vandalieu’s movements.
“… What is the meaning of this? The copies I have created so far may have had some flaws, but they never failed to fulfill their function,” he muttered to himself.
Utterly perplexed, he checked the program that he had executed, but no matter how many times he looked through it, he could not find any problems.
But the reality was that the copy of Vandalieu was continuing to move in a way that had not been planned.
“This… cannot be helped. I must take the copy down and restart it,” Curatos decided, executing a command that would terminate the copy.
But the copy of Vandalieu did not disappear.
Curatos executed the command twice, three times, but it had no effect.
“Impossible! No matter how elaborate the copies are, they are reproductions based on my records; there is no way that they can disobey my will… Could it be that it is not my program that is causing the copy’s movements?!” he shouted in astonishment.
He wasn’t the only one; the Five-colored Blades were as bewildered as he was.
Vandalieu was making no effort to fight them at all.
What is he thinking? Edgar wondered as he continued fighting off against the ‘King Slayer’ Sleygar, who was moving about the battlefield freely, trying to take the Five-colored Blades’ heads.
On the 50th floor, Vandalieu had stood behind Gubamon and Ternecia, unleashing spells and attacks with the Demon King’s fragments.
Edgar and his party had never seen such peculiar spells before; they had caused the party much suffering even without their mental unrest at the situation.
That was why the party had been on their guard this time, but Vandalieu showed no signs of casting spells or activating the Demon King’s fragments.
He picked up the head of a female knight that Edgar and his companions did not recognize and held it to his chest for a few seconds until it turned to dust and vanished.
But in the next moment, he stepped forward and began throwing his fists at some invisible enemy.
“DRAGON SLAYEEEEER!” roared the ‘Sword King’ Borkus.
“This Titan Zombie is too problematic!” Delizah grunted as she was forced to stop in place and stop his deadly martial skill.
The greatsword, made of a fragment of the Demon King, unleashed a shower of sparks as it collided with her Artifact shield.
“Del, this lump of meat is way more problematic!” said Jennifer, busy trying to fend off Legion on her own.
“Jennifer, you think this is a competition?!”
Vandalieu was having a boxing match against empty air as he watched this scene unfold. The reason for this was that he was aware that he was being watched by someone other than Heinz and Edgar.
“This gaze must be the god who controls this Dungeon,” he murmured. “Fins, tumors, membrane… They won’t come out. Antennae… They don’t work either. My body’s reactions are dull. I can’t check my Status… possibly because this is a fake body, after all. And even if I close my eyes and focus, I can’t return to my real body.”
Once he finished checking the status of his current body, he stopped boxing the air and started casting a spell… Telekinesis, just moving a small pebble at his feet up and down.
“The sensation of using magic… the same as a little earlier. I can’t see my Skills with my Status, but I can use them just as I could yesterday. In other words, my real soul has entered this fake body? Yes, my soul is real, my soul is…”
As Vandalieu was busy thinking and not participating in the battle, there were openings in the copied Borkus and Legion’s attacks. Curatos had programmed the copies to coordinate their attacks with high efficiency, so they were greatly affected by the fact that Vandalieu was not participating despite being the core part of their formation.
And Heinz and his companions had fought against and defeated Borkus and Legion numerous times between the 51st floor and this one.
“DIIIIIIE!” the copied Borkus roared.
Delizah gritted her teeth as she resisted Borkus’s fierce attack.
Of course, even though this was a copy, Borkus was a master of the sword. He was not merely attempting to forcibly crush Delizah underneath her shield through sheer force; his blade moved in skillful arcs in an attempt to slip past the shield to get to Diana, the one being protected by Delizah’s shield.
On top of feeling no fatigue due to being an Undead, he had activated the Transcend Limits and Transcend Limits: Magic Sword Skills to improve his own Attribute Values and the power of his sword.
Even an above-average A-class adventurer would be slaughtered in an instant by this foe.
“Mill, grant this warrior your power! Physical Ability Fortification! Awakening!” cried Diana.
“True Rapid Reaction! Diana, don’t you leave my shadow! And sorry for being so small!” shouted Delizah.
“I know!” Diana shouted back.
Delizah was an A-class adventurer, but she possessed the strength of someone closing in on earning the status of S-class, and she was supported by Diana’s advanced enchantments. With their help, she succeeded in stopping Borkus in his tracks.
Meanwhile, the copied Legion opened their multiple mouths and let out a terrifying scream. They tore off pieces of their own body to throw at Jennifer, then began spinning rapidly to try and ram their body into her.
This was an attack pattern that was unique to Legion; even a skilled adventurer who had fought against all kinds of monsters previously would be confused.
But Jennifer reacted instantly.
“This meaty bastard! How many times do you think you’ve done me in already! I know all of your moves now! I won’t let you get in everyone’s way!” Jennifer muttered with determination as she kept Legion contained to one side of the battlefield.
Indeed, despite Legion’s enormous size, their role was to disrupt the party’s movement and keep them distracted.
They threw masses of flesh that included fat, transformed those masses of flesh into Yomotsushikome and Yomotsuikusa when they had an opening, and buried their enemies with their ability to ignite organic matter if their target stood still for a moment.
They allowed their enemies to become accustomed to their simple attack patterns of trying to crush them with their body, then suddenly Teleport beside the copied Borkus or Sleygar and crush Delizah or Edgar to death.
They had far too much mass to coordinate with their allies like an ordinary fighter, and yet they could fly through the air with great force to execute this battle strategy.
On top of that, even if their plan was read and a deadly blow was thrown at them, they could directly return the same amount of damage back upon their attacker.
This ability ignored distance and there was no dodging or defending from it. When Legion received damage, they returned the same amount of damage back with absolute certainty.
Jennifer and the rest of the party had been defeated by Legion numerous times. They had only been able to clear the trials with Legion in them by first focusing on finding a way to defeat them rather than actually trying to defeat them, knowing that Legion would defeat them on these attempts.
“Steel-piercing Overarm Fist!” Jennifer shouted, her fist destroying one of the upper-body-halves protruding from Legion and gouging a large chunk of flesh from their body mass.
She simultaneously threw a light kick, which landed lightly against another one of the upper-body-halves immediately after her fist.
Legion immediately activated their Counter ability, but the attack reflected upon Jennifer was not the heavy blow inflicted by her fist, but the light kick that was not even strong enough to leave a bruise.
Heinz and his party had realized that Legion’s Counter only reflected the last instance of damage that they had received. Thus, they had come up with the method of following up powerful attacks with a light one immediately afterwards.
They had also come up with the idea of placing enchantments on their weapons that prevented fat tissue from sticking to them as a countermeasure to Legion’s ability to ignite organic matter.
But even after all of this, Jennifer was only able to stop Legion from disrupting her companions.
“Damn, it’s no good!” she cursed.
The damage that she had inflicted was immediately healed by Legion’s Super-speed Regeneration.
The anti-Legion strategy was normally employed with at least two people; Jennifer alone was not capable of outputting enough damage to overcome Legion’s regenerative abilities.
The other members of the Five-colored Blades knew this, which is why they wanted to back Jennifer up as soon as possible, but… Delizah and Diana had their hands full fending off Borkus’s fierce attacks, and weren’t really able to mount any kind of offense. Edgar was busy chasing after Sleygar.
As for Heinz, he was crossing swords with Eleanora, Isla and Miles at once while also enduring Bellmond’s attacks at the same time.
“Sorry, hold out a little longer!” he shouted at his companions
He blocked Eleanora’s blade with his own blue, flaming one and avoided Bellmond’s deadly threads, unleashing slashing attacks of his own in the few openings that he was given.
He had already defeated the Vampire Zombies, but these four troublesome foes remained standing. If he were to fight them one by one, he would be able to defeat them as long as he did not let his guard down in a big way, and even in a four-on-one situation, he was still managing to hold on.
“Die, for the sake of the Demon King Vandalieu-sama!” Eleanora cried.
“How dare you do that to my subordinates! I’ll rip that pretty face right off your skull!” Isla snarled.
“Before that, I’ll leave a little kiss mark on your neck!” Miles laughed. “Steel Bite!”
Heinz evaded Eleanora’s black sword, Isla’s claws and Miles’s fangs that could rip his head right off rather than merely leaving a kiss mark. He then began his own counter-attack.
“Oh dear, your feet are wide open,” said Bellmond as the threads extending from her fingers suddenly changed directions.
Heinz moved to avoid being caught in the threads, but in doing so, lost his opportunity to strike back.
If he hadn’t moved, his head would have been turned into a series of thin, round slices.
“Pardon me, I meant your head, not your feet, didn’t I?” Bellmond said with a sneer.
Heinz gritted his teeth, and a frustrated expression appeared on his face.
The evil-god-worshiping Vampires that he had faced up until now had been less cooperative and more crudely-coordinated with their allies the more powerful they were.
But these four demonstrated perfectly-coordinated teamwork, allowing them to bring out each other’s strengths. On top of that, they all somehow possessed incredible physical abilities and unleashed martial skills and spells one after another.
Ordinarily, such coordination would be the strength of adventurers like Heinz and his companions, but… they had all been separated, forced to fight individually with the exception of Delizah and Diana.
Of course, if they had remained grouped up, there would have been the problem with being unable to withstand Borkus’s fierce attacks, Legion’s movement disruption and Sleygar looking to assassinate them from behind, but…
They are preventing us from using our strength. That is the kind of trial this is… But if that’s the case, why is he not moving? Heinz wondered, feeling discomfort at the fact that Vandalieu had still shown no signs of joining the battle.
He was completely aware that the only reason he and his companions were still able to endure this situation despite being separated was because Vandalieu was not doing anything.
This was a trial, so why? It wasn’t as if the trials’ difficulties were adjusted in the middle of battle.
Perhaps sensing Heinz’s misgivings, or perhaps not, Vandalieu was watching the battle unfold. Meanwhile, he cut his own finger lightly and saw a drop of blood form on his finger’s surface.
“So, I can hurt myself. If that’s the case, it seems likely that I’d be able to kill myself… Hmm, it seems that the soul, my soul, is the key. Out-of-body Experience… Materialization… No, that’s not right,” he muttered to himself.
He tried creating a clone and then erasing it, then began doing this over and over.
Meanwhile, the tides of battle changed.
An arrow had pinned Sleygar’s leg to the ground.
“Infinity Slash! How many times do you think I’ve faced you! I’m starting to get used to this, you know!” Edgar shouted as he unleashed countless slashes upon Sleygar with his dagger. “Next… Rapid Fire!”
Before the cut-up pieces of Sleygar’s body even touched the ground again, Edgar fired a crucial arrow at Eleanora as she lunged at Heinz.
Eleanora instinctively avoided the arrow. “An arrow like this would never hit – GAH!”
Her evasive movement had produced a fatal gap in her coordination with her allies. Heinz cut her torso in two with a diagonal slash from the shoulder, and began his offense on Isla and Miles – and Bellmond, who was struggling to regain control over the battle.
Things ended quickly from there. Not letting the chance to turn things around slip away, Heinz defeated Miles, Bellmond and Isla one after another. Delizah and Diana joined up with Edgar, while Heinz regrouped with Jennifer.
Legion’s abnormal regenerative abilities proved tough to overcome, but at long last, the five of them succeeded in defeating Legion with their combined strength.
From this victory, it was clear that the Five-colored Blades had become stronger than the ‘Five-headed Snake’ Ervine and ‘Light-speed Sword’ Rickert of the Fifteen Evil-breaking Swords.
“The combination of attacks that we just used, we don’t really want to use it outside of a Dungeon if possible… the terrain around us has changed too much,” Edgar muttered.
“This side of the mountain has become completely barren. If we were in the outside world, some of the mountains would have split and collapsed… a monster on the other side of the Boundary Mountain Range might have even come out… though maybe that monster is him,” said Diana, trying to catch her breath.
The party was staring at Vandalieu, the only one left standing, not letting their guard down.
It seemed to them that he hadn’t done anything other than protect himself from the shockwaves produced by their attacks.
“Long… live… the great Demon King… Vanda…” groaned Eleanora, who was missing the bottom half of her body, before she turned into dust and disappeared.
Vandalieu finally spoke. “You’ve already finished. Shall we talk, then, if it’s alright with you? We both need some time before we can fight, don’t we?”
An expression of astonishment appeared on the faces of all of the Five-colored Blades.
“… Am I really saying something that strange? You’re probably quite exhausted after defeating the fake copies of everyone, and I still need to test some things and do some practice,” said Vandalieu, repeatedly using Out-of-body Experience to leave his body and return to it again.
Heinz realized that this Vandalieu was different to all the copies that they had faced so far. “Are you the real Vandalieu?” he asked.
“Yes. This body is the same as the other fakes, but it’s the real me inside. Ah, as for why this has happened, it’s a secret, so don’t ask,” Vandalieu replied. “Hmm, I’m not a spirit,” he said to himself, still showing no signs of stopping his testing.
Heinz went deep into thought for a moment, then began to ask another question. “Then tell me. Are you –”
“I am the son of Darcia. You captured and handed my mother over to a fanatic. I am the true culprit behind the incident of the castle tipping over in the Hartner Duchy. I’m also the one who controls the former Scylla territory, and the one who destroyed Ternecia and Gubamon.”
Heinz made a surprised noise.
“Ah, I really can’t concentrate because talking to you makes me so angry… Hmm, it’s been a while since I channeled my anger into focus, so it’s not going very well,” said Vandalieu.
“… What about the Demon King’s fragments and the Undead?” Heinz asked quietly.
“I acquired my first fragment of the Demon King by coincidence when I headed underground, beneath the castle in the Hartner Duchy, in order to free the spirits of Talosheim’s Titans who were accused of false crimes. After that, I’ve been acquiring them by defeating enemies like Ternecia,” Vandalieu explained. “As for the Undead… At the very least, all of the ones that you fought just now are my companions. Excluding Ternecia and Gubamon from last time, though.”
He was answering Heinz’s questions, but he didn’t mention some of the other ways that he had acquired fragments of the Demon King. He had said, “Shall we talk?” but he was not being completely honest.
“Why have you done such things… Is it because we killed your mother? In your hatred, you desired the evil fragments of the Demon King, created these repulsive Undead and conspired with Vampires who worship evil gods?” Heinz asked.
“Heinz, we only accepted a request –” Edgar began, trying to stop Heinz’s questions.
“No, even if you didn’t capture my mother… Even if my mother was never captured by anyone and never killed, I think I would have still created Undead and sought out the fragments of the Demon King,” Vandalieu replied, ignoring Edgar. “I’m not sure if I would have met Eleanora and everyone else, however.”
Vandalieu was a death-attribute mage; even if Darcia had never died, it was likely that he would have gone on to create Undead. And it was almost certain that he would have eventually absorbed the Demon King’s fragments as well.
From the moment of his birth, he had been destined to be depended upon by Vida and the other gods, for Rodcorte to desire his death, to become the enemy of Alda’s forces.
Events may have been delayed if Darcia had never died, but it was unlikely that he would have lived a peaceful life… Even if none of this was true, it was likely that there would have been no paths for him that did not lead to a turbulent life due to his personality and vast Mana pool.
“Also, Edgar, was it?” said Vandalieu. “As you say, you simply accepted a request. You captured my mother, who broke the law. It wasn’t a crime or anything of the sort. You only did what was obvious. If that’s what you want to say, you’re completely right.”
Vandalieu was answering questions at length because he wanted to buy as much time as possible. However, the astonishment and bewilderment on Heinz and Edgar’s faces did not disappear in the slightest.
This wouldn’t have bothered Vandalieu, but to him, their lack of response appeared as if they weren’t listening to him at all, causing him to become even more irritated.
“… You don’t hate Heinz and the others?” Diana asked.
Though Vandalieu was angry, he remained expressionless and the only sign of his anger was that his tone of speech was a little rougher than usual; on the surface, he looked perfectly calm. Diana seemed to have mistakenly thought that he was actually calm.
“Of course I do,” Vandalieu replied. “I’m definitely going to kill you. Not because you people are evil, but to prevent you from taking away anyone who is precious to me ever again.”
Heinz felt a chill run down his spine as he looked into the depths of Vandalieu’s dull, lightless eyes and sensed something terrifying hidden within them.
Jennifer took a step forward to speak in Heinz’s place. “Wait, putting the past aside, Heinz is now a part of Alda’s peaceful faction… He believes that we should work together with Vida’s races and Vida’s believers! We should work together with Vida’s Church… You saw Selen in the city of Niarki, didn’t you?! That Dhampir girl! Heinz will never take away someone precious to you again!”
“Wait, he just said –” Diana began, suddenly realizing something.
“I just said that all of the people you just fought are my companions, didn’t I?” said Vandalieu, cutting Diana off to respond to Jennifer. “Are you telling me that Heinz will never kill my precious companions that I consider to be my family? The Undead, Vampires, Ghouls… Even the Majin, Kijin and monsters?”
Jennifer’s face stiffened. “The Undead are your precious companions? That’s…”
“If you think that’s abnormal, that just shows you how different your way of thinking is from mine,” Vandalieu said. “Well, I’m in the minority in this case,” he added.
As a death-attribute mage who could charm the dead, Vandalieu felt closer to and more familiar with the dead than the living. That was why he felt no discomfort at the fact that he considered Undead to be as precious to him as living people.
Seeing no response to his question from Heinz and his companions, Vandalieu stepped forward and gave a small nod. “So, you can’t tolerate Undead after all.”
“… Yeah, sorry. You shouldn’t associate yourself with the dead. That’s the way we… the way that people should be. That’s the one thing we won’t budge on,” said Heinz. “I don’t know how you’re able to create powerful Undead, but you should stop. You shouldn’t desecrate the dead. You should allow them to return and be reincarnated as they should be.”
Heinz spoke what was common knowledge in Lambda, which applied to ordinary Undead. However, it was unlikely that he would change his way of thinking even if Vandalieu explained that he could tame Undead, and that they were not like the ordinary Undead that this knowledge applied to.
The strong determination in his voice told Vandalieu that.
“I see,” Vandalieu said. “Is there anything else you would like to ask?”
Heinz’s response was exactly as he had expected, so he did not feel any particular interest or feelings of opposition towards it.
“I have a question,” said Diana. “Do you know who the ‘Holy Mother’ might be?”
“That’s probably my mother,” Vandalieu replied. “Why do you ask?”
“You call your own mother the ‘Holy Mother’… What in the world are you even doing now? And on what basis did your mother become the ‘Holy Mother?’”
Diana was responding with more questions rather than answering Vandalieu’s; he considered whether he should continue answering.
Though this was an important conversation, he was hesitant to reveal everything about Darcia. The fact that she had been resurrected was particularly likely to conflict with Heinz’s idea that the dead should be reincarnated and so forth. Vandalieu had no intention of humoring Heinz, but it would also be problematic if Heinz were to simply end the conversation out of anger.
And once they learned that Darcia had been resurrected, it was possible that Heinz and his companions would respond with, “If she has come back to life, you have no reason to hate us anymore.” That would also be problematic.
Because if that happened, Vandalieu would likely be overcome with rage and end the conversation himself.
“Have you at least figured out that I escaped from the Mirg shield-nation into the Boundary Mountain Range? I rebuilt the ruined nation of Talosheim there. I am now its emperor. That’s why my mother is the ‘Holy Mother,’” Vandalieu said finally. “Leaving that aside, can I ask you something?” he said, very obviously trying to change the subject.
“Before that, I want to ask you one more thing, too! That ‘Demon King’ thing… Are you really the ‘second coming of the Demon King’ in Alda’s Divine Message?” asked Edgar.
Vandalieu had appeared before the Five-colored Blades in this Dungeon, a trial set by the gods, and the other copies had referred to him as the Demon King. There was almost no question at this point, but it seemed that Edgar wanted to hear it from Vandalieu himself.
“… It seems that Alda and his followers call me that. I do use the Demon King’s fragments without any side-effects, after all,” said Vandalieu, giving a rough answer to Edgar’s question. “But I have a question for you as well. You call yourselves a part of the peaceful faction, but is that really true? You seemed quite merciless when you were fighting just a while ago, even if your enemies were fakes.”
Perhaps failing to understand the motive behind asking this question, Heinz contemplated for a few moments before answering. “In this Dungeon, a god’s power creates perfect copies of enemies. We’ve gone through sixty-five floors of this Dungeon, so we’ve become accustomed to defeating these copies. Talking to the copies isn’t of any use. Whether the enemies are human or Vampires, we have no choice but to defeat them,” he said.
“I see. Then does that mean you haven’t killed any Ghouls or Majin outside this Dungeon?” asked Vandalieu, continuing his questioning.
Diana and Jennifer were puzzled by this question. Though the Majin were a race created by Vida, they were considered to be evil, no different from monsters. But Ghouls? Was Vandalieu trying to say that they were also one of Vida’s races?
But Heinz wasn’t surprised; he gave an understanding nod. “… Judging from that question, I assume that Ghouls are one of the races created by Vida after all,” he said.
“Heinz, what are you talking about? The Adventurers’ Guild, the Mages’ Guild and the Church all tell us that Ghouls are mutated Undead!” Jennifer exclaimed.
“Calm down, Jennifer. Think about it. There’s no way that Undead could have children, is there?” said Delizah.
Indeed, ordinary Undead could not reproduce and have children. That was obvious, as they were mere corpses and spirits.
But society considered Ghouls to be monsters – mutated Undead that were capable of bearing children.
They could also be tamed, and tamed Ghouls could acquire Jobs.
Acquiring Jobs was only capable for beings that were not monsters, and if they were not humans, Dwarves or Elves, that meant that they had to be a race created by Vida.
If anyone were to think about it rationally, they would realize that Ghouls were created by Vida. But Jennifer and Diana had never doubted the commonly-believed knowledge that they had been taught, that Ghouls were special Undead that were capable of reproducing and acquiring Jobs. They had never even thought about questioning it.
“No way! Then that means we have been… We have been calling ourselves members of the peaceful faction while slaying members of a race created by Vida?!” Diana cried out in shock.
“That’s right, Diana. But even so, we are a part of Alda’s peaceful faction,” said Heinz, maintaining a composure that contrasted with the shaken Jennifer and Delizah. “We belong to Alda’s peaceful faction,” he said, directing these words to Vandalieu with strong determination in his eyes. “We will continue to cooperate with Vida’s believers and Vida’s races. But that does not mean that we will be friendly towards Vida’s races without condition. We are adventurers; we are humans; we worship the gods. We will not forgive anyone who commits crimes and attacks people, whether they are human or of a race created by Vida,” he declared.
“… Kid, we’ve wiped out plenty of Ghoul settlements, defeated Majin, and gave their remains to the Guild as proof of getting rid of them for money. We did that because they were attacking humans, so there were requests to dispose of them,” said Edgar. “Is that so wrong of us?”
Heinz and his companions were adventurers who had chosen to live in human society. Thus, it was only natural for them to protect the law and order of that society.
If Vida’s races attacked humans, they would be exterminated, just like human bandits.
“No, it probably isn’t,” said Vandalieu.
He did not object to that at all. It wasn’t as if he wished to discriminate against and oppress all races other than the ones created by Vida. He had no intention of protesting on the behalf of Ghouls that were killed because they attacked adventurer parties or travelling merchants.
“But you did gather evidence that every single Ghoul in those settlements that you wiped out was guilty of harming humans, didn’t you? I’m sure you wouldn’t do anything like raiding them without warning and slaughtering them all,” said Vandalieu. “Even if they were all criminals, you at least protected the babies and children who lived in the settlements? And when adventurers tried to attack Ghouls to harvest materials or sell them as slaves but were killed instead, you never put the blame on the Ghouls, did you?”
Jennifer, who had been on the verge of regaining her composure, froze. It seemed that she was remembering something.
The Guild recommended that when adventurers were exterminating groups of monsters, they should have no mercy and slay every single one including not only the young, but the pregnant as well. It was likely that Heinz and his companions had come this far doing exactly that.
“In the incidents with the Majin, you did investigate the situation and considered the possibility that it was the humans who were at fault, didn’t you?” Vandalieu continued. “You did try reasoning with the Majin? I’m sure you didn’t decide to exterminate them all the moment you discovered their settlements and slaughter them before they could do anything, right?”
Diana opened her mouth to speak, couldn’t find a response to give, and closed it again. After repeating this a few times, she finally looked away in defeat.
Even in the Orbaume Kingdom, the Majin were considered to be dangerous monsters. The Adventurers’ Guild often received requests for them to be exterminated immediately after their presence was discovered, even if they had not caused any harm.
It seemed that Heinz and his companions had accepted such requests in the past.
Well, Vandalieu did not intend to condemn them so harshly for this. He hadn’t been able to save all of the Ghouls and Majin in the Orbaume Kingdom either, after all.
“Heinz, you must have passed through the Sauron Duchy when you and your two companions at the time snuck into the Orbaume Kingdom illegally. Did you know that the Scylla there were being imprisoned inside their own territory and being treated unjustly? When you were in the Hartner Duchy, did you know that there were Titans who had evacuated to the duchy from Talosheim two hundred years ago, forced into slave labor for crimes they did not commit?” Vandalieu asked. “And as part of Alda’s peaceful faction… What specifically have you actually accomplished after using my mother’s death as a tale to move the masses?”
This was something that Vandalieu did intend to condemn them for. Unlike the Ghouls and Majin that Heinz and his companions had killed, these were examples of Vida’s races who had been treated with injustice and discrimination despite having committed no crimes. Heinz’s party praised Alda’s peaceful faction, were already prominent adventurers at the time, and had utilized Darcia to increase their own fame. Shouldn’t they have done something about these?
Vandalieu would not accept the excuse that they were only “just adventurers.”
Ah, this is bad. I’ve started talking quickly. This is a precious opportunity for conversation, so I need to speak as slowly as possible without sounding unnatural. They’ve gone silent, too, Vandalieu thought rapidly. But it seems that things will go well in just a little longer. I need to put a more primitive version of myself outside my body –
“… Is that why you created a vortex of chaos in the Hartner Duchy and occupied the Scylla territory of the Sauron Duchy with Undead forces? For the spirits of the Titan slaves and the Scylla race?” Heinz asked quietly, finally speaking after his long silence.
But this was not an answer to Vandalieu’s questions.
“I question your responding to questions with your own questions, but that’s right,” said Vandalieu.
“Do you understand what you’ve done?!” Heinz demanded.
“… I think I do.”
“No, you don’t!”
“… Is that so.”
Heinz raised a clenched fist in Vandalieu’s direction. “What you’ve done certainly was for the sake of Vida’s races! You freed the slaves and the Scylla. The Hartner and Sauron families paid dearly for what they did. I’m sure you’re feeling great about yourself! But do you know just how many people were caught up in all of this?!” he shouted fervently.
Heinz continued on to describe what had happened in the two duchies since then.
The tilted castle in the Hartner Duchy had required large-scale repair work. The duchy’s income had decreased due to the slave mine being destroyed. On top of that, a new fort had been constructed to the south of the city of Niarki. A large tax increase had been imposed upon the duchy’s citizens in order to compensate for these expenses.
In the Sauron Duchy, frequent attempts to reclaim the former Scylla territory had produced many casualties and great military expenditures, and there had been an incident in which the inhabitants of the nearby villages went missing, perhaps having fallen victim to these events as well.
But all of these were things that Vandalieu already knew of.
The super-small Dungeons that I created in the Hartner Duchy have unexpectedly become a source of income for the villages, and I supported them quite a bit with the earth statues of Vida. As for the incident of people disappearing from the Sauron Duchy, all that happened was that they moved to our country, Vandalieu thought.
But he couldn’t tell Heinz about the fact that he could create Dungeons or discuss internal matters of his own nation, so he remained silent.
“What you’ve done has only deepened the conflict between humans and Vida’s races! At this rate, there will be a catastrophe… war will eventually break out between humans and Vida’s races! Don’t you understand that?!” Heinz shouted.
“I do understand that,” said Vandalieu. “I’ve already declared war upon the Amid Empire, after all. As for the Orbaume Kingdom… I don’t really want to fight a war with them. I would avoid that if I could, but if that’s what it comes to, it can’t be helped.”
Heinz froze, bewildered by the fact that Vandalieu had confirmed the possibility of war so casually.
“Wait,” said Diana. “It will be a war not between nations, but between races. Are you unable to imagine just how great a tragedy this will be?”
“I can, but… are you saying that this is why I should do my best to avoid harming the side that has been exploiting and oppressing others unjustly, that I should have mercy on them? Are you saying that I should forget what the Hartner and Sauron families have done and let all be forgiven?” asked Vandalieu.
“You might be right, but there’s such a thing as going too far!” Edgar exclaimed. “Do you intend to make the entire continent your enemy in addition to the Amid Empire?!”
“If I cannot avoid it no matter what, then I believe it can’t be helped,” Vandalieu said in a matter-of-fact tone. “In any case, Alda is fully intent on causing conflict between the races. According to Farmaun, Alda’s ideal is to return the world to the state it was in before the Demon King Guduranis appeared, where monsters or the Devil’s Nests and Dungeons that spawn them didn’t exist.”
“Everyone knows that. The Church teaches you that while you’re still learning to read and write. The extremists even tell you that the Beast-people, Titans and Dark Elves should all be slaughtered,” said Jennifer. “But that’s what our peaceful faction is trying to… wait,” she said, suddenly stopping mid-sentence. “Did you say Farmaun? Are you telling me you received a Divine Message from the god Farmaun?!”
“No, I met him directly. Farmaun is currently with Zantark,” said Vandalieu.
“Y-you had an encounter with a god?! And he’s with the fallen great god Zantark? What do you mean – ?!” Jennifer began, but she froze before she could get her next words out.
Right before her very eyes, Vandalieu’s arms were covered by a strange mass of flesh.
The flesh had hard tumors, eyeballs, mouths and some kind of tubes growing on its surface haphazardly, and it was pulsating ominously.
“W-what the hell is that?!” Jennifer shouted.
“To tell you the truth, I’m just as surprised as you are by this appearance… Well, I don’t need to buy any more time, so shall we start killing each other?” said Vandalieu.
“… So, this conversation was just to buy time after all. You have no intention of discussing this with us…!” Heinz muttered, his brow furrowed in a deep frown.
The grotesque flesh wrapping around Vandalieu’s arms spread over his entire body.
“I have gained something out of this. You people and your peaceful faction stand on the humans’ side, and I stand on the side of Vida’s races and the Undead. Thanks to our conversation, it’s become easier to understand,” said Vandalieu.
In conclusion, Alda’s peaceful faction would be of no use in helping Vida’s races acquire the same rights that humans enjoyed, especially the races that possessed Ranks.
If things were left to them, Vida’s races would merely exist around a human-centric social order, receiving only enough assistance so that they would not become a hindrance.
Even so, it was probably for the better that the peaceful faction existed at all, but… it was not of enough value for Vandalieu to give up on destroying Heinz, its leader.
“… You intended for us to fight to the death from the very beginning, and while we were fighting the other fake copies, you were testing your body’s condition. But what in the world is that body?!” Heinz demanded.
“This is my own soul, materialized into physical form. It is not a spirit; it is the most primitive form of my existence,” said Vandalieu, who was now the size of a grown man, completely covered in the grotesque flesh including even his face. “Last time, you faced a fake body and a fake mind… but this time, I will destroy you three with my real soul!”
And with that, Vandalieu took a nimble step forward and threw himself towards Heinz.

I am so fking happy that someone finally pointed out that Van cannot coexist with alda. Even if he never got any demon fragments or the ability to break souls.
Alda considers his very exsistens as Dampyr a crime worth death. It annoyed me to no end that no one seem to question why he should live his life according to Aldas rules if he receives non of the protections.
Shadow1
Isn’t hainz similar to bellwood? Just how Hainz dodged those questions with his own questions, it was siad that Bellwood was the same as he cover his failures by directing the God’s attention on something else.
Well, hainz is still inferior since he is lying to himself, while Bellwood played with the God’s.

I loved this man-to-man talk between these parties. I wanted this confrontation for a long time, ever since Vandalieu failed to attack Heinz in his previous visit to a human Adventurer’s Guild. Quite the perfect chapter number too 🤣
Hobbes
Not enough hate for Edgar in the comments… to me he’s the biggest prick in the party. He’s so shameless it’s almost impressive. But what else would you expect from a follower of Niltark, the “God” of (Crappy) Judgement. Niltark & Curatos are easily the biggest zealots & yes-men in Aldiot’s divine realm. All of them void of thought, introspection, & self-reflection.
Naberisu
The sad part is that Heinz has a guider job, which means his party members and the whole “peaceful” faction of Alda are being subconsciously being manipulated by Heinz’s hypocrisy.
Naberisu
Omfg I loved this chapter
Heinz’s party members at least show regret and try to think of answers to Van’s questions, but Heinz simply avoids the hard questions and keeps making new accusations masked as questions towards Van to somehow justify his choices instead of reflecting on them.
However Van also isn’t being honest here, he actively avoids the explanations (like accepting human immigrants and Vida agreeing with his actions) that should at least make some members of Heinz’s group doubt Alda or Heinz’s choices.
Sailon
They are being guided so i doubt mutch would change, altought he could explain some parts better, i dont think would made that mutch difference, this people seems to like to turn a blind eye to things that incovenient to them, like the ghoul matter, the are like the mage and adventurer guild say they are monster so they are even if only vida races can have rank and jobs at the same time, if the guild said they are monsters they are monster, this show they have very little critical thinking, and they are being guided by some self righteous fool, that denied his mistakes and put blame on someone else, so i doubt anithyng he said would affect them.
Winter
I get that Heinz might criticize stuff like the tilted Hartner castle, but the destruction of the slave run mine too, really?
Alda’s “peaceful” faction is a hypocritical joke.
They remind me of PETA, who advocate for animal rights, while killing more of them than probably any other organisation.
In a world were Alda’s “peaceful” faction prevails, Vida’s races would be similar to endangered animals that are preserved in small numbers in isolated areas, so some self righteous people can pat themselves on the back thinking “I did a good thing!”
“Righteous” hypocrites are really more disgusting than villains, who are true to their desires.
Sailon
Heinz raised a clenched fist in Vandalieu’s direction. “What you’ve done certainly was for the sake of Vida’s races! You freed the slaves and the Scylla. The Hartner and Sauron families paid dearly for what they did. I’m sure you’re feeling great about yourself! But do you know just how many people were caught up in all of this?!” he shouted fervently.
“What you’ve done has only deepened the conflict between humans and Vida’s races! At this rate, there will be a catastrophe… war will eventually break out between humans and Vida’s races! Don’t you understand that?!” Heinz shouted.
So basically to avoid war the Vida races should accept being oppressed and hunted down, the life of “people” is more important then Vida races and they should accept being oppressed for hundrends of thousands of years for the good of mankind. If this is not Hypocrisy so what is?
And i do think MC could talk more especially to that jeniffer and explain the matter of faurm gold and what he said about Alda.
But yeah in general the 5 colored blades proves they see Vida races as being inferior to people and only should be protected if dont cause any inconvenience to human/dwarves/ elves.
So yeah even if you disconsider they accepting or not Undead is prove that peace betwen them is impossible, Alda is after jim, and this people are willing ignore innocent people of Vida races suffering if would cause invovenience to people so yeah Heinz is hypocrite.
Alke
If that’s the “peaceful” version of the Alda rabbish, just wait for the Vida and Vandalieu faction, they will be as peaceful with you as you were with them 😇😇😇😇😇😇. Now, shinei! If there is evil in this dammmned world, it’s your crooked ways, your hypocrisy, your racism, your religion and your god. Just die so good pple can live happy lives without being so “righteously” slaughtered and enslaved by the likes of you and your fellow genocidal lovers. See, that was a peaceful talk with peaceful people, wasn’t it?
Randy Rando
OooOOooOohHh nNNNnnOoOoooOoOoooO! Because you freed the people who were wrongly enslaved for crimes they didn’t commit, a bunch of people who had been benefiting from those innocent people’s forced slave labor for hundreds of years now have slightly higher taxes!! The horror!!!
Vitor
Even if Van was at fault… that doesn’t mean you aren’t I see this trash has the skill [Change of Topic], but it’s useless against Van’s [Grotesque Mind], so they should drop dead

No way! Then that means we have been… We have been calling ourselves members of the peaceful faction while slaying members of a race created by Vida?!” Diana cried out in shock.
“That’s right, Diana. But even so, we are a part of Alda’s peaceful faction,” said Heinz
There you go, one of the most cliche line a heroic mc could ever say. “But even so” you MF I wish I could smack the sht out of you, you self-justice b@stard!
.
“And as part of Alda’s peaceful faction… What specifically have you actually accomplished after using my mother’s death as a tale to move the masses?”
You fcking tell him Van!
.
This MF just switch the blame like the other side didn’t do anything wrong.
.
I’m quite surprise to myself because I have this much hatred towards a fictional characters which not even happen until I read this MFs lines. I wish I could choke all of them to death especially Heinz and Edgar
NjShade
That this MF try to avoid his mistake by shift other people mistake…if they questions his mistakes his questioning them try change the topic… typical when people try bury his mistakes and not acknowledge or face it..after all his a saint and hero no way he make mistakes

umm, Alda going to kill everything Vida made so the word goes back to being “pure” how is that not too far? that multi-mass genocide of dozens of races…
Chiu ChunLing
Honestly, that just illustrates the depths of Heinz’s hypocrisy. He knows with absolute certainty that his “Reconciliation” is just an attempt to divide the Vida races so they can be exterminated piecemeal, it’s identical to the strategy that Marshukzarl was employing against the Sauron Duchy.
All he’s trying to do is put a pretty face on it and make Van out to be the bad guy for actually defending the Vida races as a whole and preventing their piecemeal extinction.
And he’s known all along that the purpose of this ‘Trial’ was to create a force capable of destroying Van. All his ‘bargaining’ with Alda has accomplished is to have Alda decide to try and extinguish Vida completely to eliminate her reincarnation circle and wipe out all the races with Ranks.
Illuvatar
I don’t think it’s a good idea to expose your soul or to give the Gods even more information about how you fight but maybe he has thought about these things and found some countermeasures.
Vitor
Well… you are right… you are right, but Van is too emotional to care if it’s a good idea or not, and if he wasn’t like this, he won’t be Van
BeiBei G6
Oh Heinz so… so naive and gullible does he really think the peaceful faction and the extreme faction are different but in all actuality they’re almost the same. Vida race still faces poor conditions while humans have better conditions. Why can’t he understand that?
Vitor
He can, but he doesn’t want
FunniFear
The Empire was already sending troops to him, the Kingdom enslaved his people. What does “going too far” even mean? How infuriating these people are.

i…. really dont understand his point? he practically said “i know you did everything for vida’s races and punished the people who made innocent people suffer for 200 years
and freed the squid people from confinement but the humans had to pay more money!!! wth is wrong with you?!?!!?”
lazygeko
It just shows his values. To Heinz, humans are superior to Vida’s races. He is ok with Vida’s races… as long as they don’t infringe on human/elf/dwarf supremacy…
Baldingere
1: Heinz, where’s your apology?? You said you’d apologise!
2: Why is using fragments a problem? Can’t you see he hasn’t become an overgrown nose? He controls them. It’s like demon king equipment, what’s the issue?
3: He literally just told you he’s not with Gubamon and Ternecia!
4: Disgusting undead? These people are former heroes! Alda teaches that you should respect the lives they lead by exterminating them! That means you can’t call former people disgusting.
5: You’re just gonna conveniently forget about Iris? And the ghouls? Because they are also his companions, not evil in any sense, and you just killed them!
6: Oh shut up Edgar!
7: You guys don’t get it. He doesn’t make the spirits unable to go back to the circle of life and dead. It is them that are trapped and he gives them a job. He does destroy some though.
8: He calls his own mother holy mother? Uh, no. Common sense dictates that it’s a title she received. He simply answered your bloody question!
9: Can’t you answer his questions before asking again!?
10: What his he doing? Holy work. As the holy son of Vida. I mean, why are you shocked? For his mother to receive such a great title, he must be doing good things, so what’s the deal?
11: “Though the Majins were a race created by Vida, they were considered evil, no different from monsters” Heu, Hello? Does that even make any sense? Why do you dumbly believe that?
12: Indeed Delizah! But if all it took was an inkling of common sense to understand that, why didn’t you get it before? Do you need somebody to tell you what to think?
13: Yes, Diana. You killed all those innocent people. So why is Heinz so composed!! Sit down and reflect! Kill yourself while at it!
14: Turns out Heinz is so smug because they were criminals! Sure, Heinz, you did good killing all those dangerous 0->300 year old criminals! You really overdid yourself killing even the unborn ones!
15: “A vortex of chaos” And here we get the vague description of the problems, because Heinz does not really know what is happening there.
16: Small reminder, idiot. Titans are a long-lived race. So while he did avenge their spirits, he also saved living people who were still suffering in those mines to this day. And he said that the scyllas were injustly persecuted, not that they all died! Do you have a problem with him saving living people??
17: You are dodging his questions because you have no explanation. Coward.
18: He knows. Why are you discarding his answer? He knows way better than you, he handled this whole situation!
19: That’s totally the head of the Duchy’s decision. A castle being repaired creates jobs though. And if you actually went to the commoners, you would see that they are alright. And Van does not care only about Vida’s races, he saved the cultivation villages.
20: What are you on about? The territory of the scyllas getting out of the Sauron Duchy’s control does not change much, as only the scylla lived there. And as long as you don’t go beyond the warnings signs, because there are frikkings warning signs, you’ll be fine.
21: It’s questionable weither this would spark more conflict between the races. The mine got destroyed and camouflaged as an undead attack. A human bandit has become the culprit of the catsle tilting. And the scyllas are thought to be dead.
22: Only the amid emperor could have started a second war for these events, as he realised who was behind it. But he won’t. The Orbaume kingdom is unaware that their damages were caused by Van. Only Hartner Duchy has a real problem anyway. And why would the Orbaume kingdom suddenly wage war against all of Vida’s races because Van pissed them off? That would make no sense. And make them quite the villain. (They don’t know about Van’s empire after all, would they attack the innocent citoyens?)
23: And aside of that, if each time you guys see oppressed people, you shy away from helping them to not disturb the big shots of the place, what are you good for? There could be war? Apart of the fact that there wouldn’t be, that means Vida’s races should quietly die, never fight back, so that at least no human dies in war? That’s so smart I’m tearing up.
24: He told you right of the bat… And can you say discussing when you don’t properly listen and spew unreasonnable stuff the whole time? What bs!
25: How impolite to criticise the appearance of someone’s soul!

Ugh, it was a fight against the website and my phone to write this comment. Happy I made it. Had to leave my rant next to the others!

Ah! So you are the man of culture too. (Thanks for this satisfying comment too)

most points are valid, but Van didn’t explained to him that the guys from the cultivating villages and the villages near the scylla territorie are safe and happy in Talosheim… doesn’t change the fact that Holy Mother Killer Heinz is an hypocrite

Heinz : “We are adventurers; we are humans; we worship the gods.”

for anyone that thinks that Van should forgive Heinz look at what he did to vans mother like this.
dracia (a black woman)fell in love with a white man and gave birth to a mixed child. while trying to provide had to enter an area where black people are not allowed, found, then kill just for the fact she was black and in their area. does that seem fair you to?
Doodads
Although in this case, Heinz would be the police officer that was following orders and put her under arrest, then only realized how wrong his actions were after she was executed and quit his job. I think the flow of the conversation didn’t really give Heinz the chance to apologize to Van, partially because Edgar interrupted.
In the end, it’s clear that Heinz isn’t evil (Van even acknowledged it in this chapter), but it’s not a matter of forgiving them or not; after all, saying that the peaceful faction’s stance was not helpful enough to Vida’s races to warrant sparing them also means that if it HAD been, Van might have considered letting them live for the sake of the people he loves.
**** Edgar though. Even if he regrets it, saying all that shit should come AFTER a sincere apology, not before. Otherwise he’s just making excuses.
DarthJawa
I don’t think Heinz is evil, he genuinely thought that he was doing good by being a part of the peaceful faction and not killing Vida’s races that he knew of. He’s just been tricked by Alda into performing evil acts, and never doubted it because this world sees Alda as just and absolute
LordKira
Heinz it’s like Kouki from Arifureta it’s a stupid guy that he thinks that he is always right and his sense of justice is the right one. Honestly that are the worst kind of people. And he could ask Joshua Alda’s intention but he didn’t, and that’s because he thinks he is right
Strahd
Exactly, the French inquisitors also thought they were good, just because they are part of the Catholic church, but the “Waldenses”, for example, would not agree with you.
Vitor
Even if he’s just bein tricked… there is a limit dude, like sending Darcia to his death, or killing ’till the least one of a ghoul village, only to change the topic when discussion isn’t comfortable to his ego
polynesianvibez
ah, i hope van kills someone from this party
thanks for the chapter
TruePath111
So is MC is just seeing things black and white? Refusing to try peace? Everything for the sake of Vida races
SuprGofi
Why do you say that, he just admits that if peace is possible than he would be okay with it but if war can’t be avoided, he would fight. And with Alda hellbent on destroying vida races and going to war.
After reading Heinz respond, there is no other option than fighting since Heinz won’t accept undead and the resurrection of his mother.
Kionzel
You are a massive retard sometimes. Van’s movements and actions are almost entirely reactionary. He is perfectly content to leave things alone until someone or something hurts him. His desire to grow in strength stemmed from being too weak to do anything to help his mother, his fear is that he will be too weak to stop Heinz or anyone else from hurting those he loves. Heinz literally just admitted he doesn’t hold Vida’s races in equal regard to humans as he concentrated on the damage to the Duchies over what they had done to the races. This is made more obvious with the fact that if not for Van’s efforts, the Amid empire would still have control of one of the duchies, the fact people ignored warning signs and entered an area and were killed is more the fault of the interlopers. Heinz (and you) hypocritically value the lives of “humans” over the marginalized Vida races due to their perceived inhuman traits and Strange and alien culture and society. If this was a real life situation Vandalieu could be equated to a radical civil rights movement leader/ domestic terrorist fighting against nations with apartheid to Nazi Germany levels of racism and discrimination.
That’s what baffles me about your repeatedly stupid remarks, you cannot seem to contextualize the situation. You take Van’s actions at face value without understanding the emotion behind the actions, and yet you excuse the enemy doing the same thing because “it’s to be expected?”
Fuck, think about what you said “everything for the sake of Vida races”?
You don’t consider them sentient enough to be put on the same level of rights as non-vida races do you? So actions done against them, while cruel, don’t apparently seem bad to you.
polynesianvibez
bruh you trolling right? 🤦♂️
LordKira
He escape with the ghouls from the Amid empire and went to Talosheim and what did the Amid empire did? They send thousand of man to kills vans friends and family. It had been told so many times that Van is insane and he is afraid to lose his precious people. He is not some fuc*ing justice loving hypocrites. He is doing things what is best for him and his peoples. He is doing this because he wanted to.
Heinz is a massive hypocrite even more so than amemiya hiroto. He just wants play hero deluding himself he is right not even trying to question the most obvious things if he things calmly like for example with ghouls.
He is different from Schneider who is made these questions and sought to find out by himself. On the other hand this hypocrite only wanted to avoid his guilt by playing hero not even correcting the misunderstandings spreading in the kingdom. If he wanted to atone his sin atleast by starting with clearing this misunderstandings first.
Heinz will never change and I bet he is going to be the final boss along with Alda and Bellwood the idiot trio.
As for Edger you are so dead. He is talking as if he is a big shot but you are just a small fry to Van. And for the dwarf girl there is no need to say anything as she will be going to be food for Van.
As for Diana and Jennifer, I don’t like Jennifer. She is Egocentric just thinking as if she above all except her party and Gods. I personally wish Van will End her along with Heinz. As for Diana, she is not worth it.
So, the Truepath111 fu*ker, if you can’t understand the story because of your Virgin obsessed brain, get out of here go read some Genocidal Virgin fuc*ing Wuxia’s or Something. Don’t create misunderstandings for other genuine readers.
FU*K OFF TRUEPATH111.
Vitor
At this point and with the things that had been said in this chapter, it’s clear that Heinz’s party is some kind of mass murderers of Vida’s races, did you know how many nazis were charged with war crimes after the war ended?
Baka445
Hard to call Heinz and his crew evil. They were working with information that was faulty at best and wrong at worse.
Koronoir
they’re evil, this chapter showed then this, hypocrite that says a lot of shit and search flaws to kill anything that aren’t Humans/elf/dwarf.
Kaizer_Emperor
By law yes they not fault after all this is their job but his ideal is peaceful between race but at same time he keep pressing and blame other race, he just like Asagi and Amemiya Hiroto.
Mentalperson
Information that they haven’t try very hard to verify when they really should have. Frankly the group’s actions are just plain self serving
SuicidalSkeletin
Honestly it wouldn’t take too much effort to think about it more clearly. He’s an S-Class adventurer and a noble. He probably has his own information network as well as deep connections to the Mages Guild. If he wanted to find out the truth he could do so easily and as far as knowing Alda’s stance on the eradication of Vida’s races he could simply ask his heroic spirit.
He’s just a dumb hypocrite who never questions Alda’s religion thinking anything Alda strives for must be correct, even though the people of Lambda already know that Gods can make bad decisions.
He’s the worst type of evil, evil by conscious ignorance.
Alter
I agree. Hard to call him evil due to faulty/wrong information.
PLUS we can FORCE our ideology on someone. He accepted Vida’s race (with the limited info he had) but he isn’t open minded enough to accept undead. And that is it. The readers (us) are actually the one trying to paint things in black and white here by deciding if someone is total evil or not.
This novel is really good tho. The characters aren’t all 1-D
Sailon
Heinz raised a clenched fist in Vandalieu’s direction. “What you’ve done certainly was for the sake of Vida’s races! You freed the slaves and the Scylla. The Hartner and Sauron families paid dearly for what they did. I’m sure you’re feeling great about yourself! But do you know just how many people were caught up in all of this?!” he shouted fervently.
Here he just put the well being of the humans above the vida races he saying that vida races should suffer for the well being of people, so yeah he is a hypocrite tha put the lives of humans above the vida races.
Vitor
even thought they have been shown the truth of the ghouls that is easy to understand but they decided to ignore their entire lives? even thought they refuse to concede in any point with Van? even thought they killed pregnant ghouls and children? even when that is the highest sin in Vida’s religion? Van is Vida’s Holy Son, not some kind of peace prophet, it could be said that it’s his job to remove them from existance
EdgeGod
Heinz is just outright worst boy and Edgar is trash. What they did it’s not punishable by law sure but that try to pass it off as some sort of mundane task that would be normal to sell someone’s mother to a religious fanatic. And I’m pretty sure that giving birth to a Damphir is a crime but not one that warrants being burnt alive at the fucking stake, damnit!
And then Heinz starts blaming Vandalieu for higher taxes and complaining that Vandalieu saving illegal slaves from their *200* year forced slavery for crimes that didn’t commit. Some hero he is,SMH
Entropy
Love the story so far. I wonder how the peaceful Alda group will acknowledge their past mistakes especially the only two who seem willing to admit that they might have been wrong. Personally I find them more deplorable than those who kill Vida’s children since they preach a desire to coexist but in reality have done nothing to help them and want a world where those creatures are little more than slaves or pets. They can live, but only on their knees. Reminds me of a saying where it is better to die on your feet then live on your knees. As for Selen, I wonder what will become of her when her guardians either die from old age or in battle. She will probably outlive the five blades, and I doubt she will be welcome in human society. I suspect she will end up as a slave to humans or even blamed for their deaths.
WolfLord_Jordon
It’s a shame they’re not going to end up permanently dead after this. Thanks for the chapter on a good story

FINALLY ! Van VS Heinz, the battle we all waited for !
… Wait. Why do I feel that Van’s or the Blades’ soul(s) will go back to his/their main body/bodies before Van can try and break the souls of the Blades ?
… I guess that the Gods are actually trying to avoid that from happening.

We wait for two weeks! We want a chapter.
Sebas Tian
Yoshi’s trying to work on the next chapter, but he’s busy dealing with work related to the Rugby World Cup, so he’s not able to do much when he gets home cause he’s too tired.
Nobody2
Is there any indication of when the next chapter may be done? Obviously yoshi can take as long as he needs with all the stuff he must be dealing with but even an uncertain but laid out time frame would be appreciated
Jonathan Hurd
Patience my friend. We all want the chapter but pestering Yoshi in the comments section isn’t going to get you it faster. Real life can happen to anyone. Let’s just be understanding and bide our time. The wait will be even worse if we scare Yoshi off and then have to wait for a new translator to pick up the series.
Sebas Tian
You don’t have to worry about that, Yoshi’s not dropping the series or vanishing into the ether of missing translators. He’s around for the long haul, no matter how long that may actually be.

when does new chapter come out?
Gunkaiser00
Aside from those failed negotiation. This battle will surely change Heinz way of thinking (even it’s just a little bit)
The change will deeply rooted in 4 members of Five Colored Blades.
Jonathan Hurd
I see some hope in Jennifer and Diana the two new members changing. They at least seemed affected when Van pointed out how ruthless they’ve been to Ghouls and Majin. Edgar has always been a lost cause in my book. He follows Heinz but it is clear he doesn’t really care at all about Vida’s races.
Heinz while being a little better than Edgar is also probably not changing. Heinz unlike Edgar does feel guilty but much like his God Alda refuses to acknowledge any wrong doing on his part. Considering how proud he was about killing Ghouls, and the fact that his only response to Vans questions about Hartner and Sauron Duchies was anger and telling Van to think of the poor humans. It honestly feels more like Heinz whines about feeling guilty more for appearances rather than out of remorse.
UndeadAnonymous
Given how fast they changed gears when Heinz said they are still members of the peaceful faction. I doubt they will reform. It was the same with Bellwood, any inconvenient mention of the truth gets drowned out by their stupid refusal and they convince everyone around them to see things his way by making non arguments.
In the first place, Majin and Ghouls are still considered monsters despite being Vida races, just like Scylla and even the acknowledged Titans slaves don’t get mercy despite being recognized as a non monster race.
Plus The argument that Majin and Ghouls attack humans, without any proof, (although ghouls do attack humans to convert them) is strong enough to convince most humans. (Although for ghouls most of it is just a low population counter measure from being killed and depopulated.)
I think Majin don’t kidnap women since they are long lived and hardier. Plus converted are considered sons and daughters so likely to be more picky about forcefully converting. So this is more an issue of strong non human+ materials than any real threat.
SuprGofi
For Majin they rarely reproduced because of their life span. It’s not their capturing human is a problem but Alda faction just paints their existence as evil
bluekatt
when does new chapter come out? plis, I want to know
Vandalieu-sama's Nun
After rereading this I think I can see why Vandalieu-sama can see just how useless it is to even coordinate with the peaceful faction, mainly because of the points that were shown by the leaders:
1. We follow what the Church of Alda deems as common sense thus the killing of Ghouls, Majin, Kijin and other monster-centric races should be allowed without fail.
2. If it leads to humans in particular suffering because of the results of helping Vida’s races gaining the same rights as them then it is not good at all.
3. As long as humans are correct Vida’s races are second to that
4. The social order must not be disrupted if it is one where injustice occurs on Vida’s races then leave it like that for the sake of the peace for the human side
It is safe to say that it only benefits humans at this point only and everything that Vandalieu is doing is in mere contrast with what they are doing that is being unwilling to help and be peaceful nay sayers who do nothing whilst injustice is happening right in front of their eyes yes a very useless group of people I guess Our Lord Vandalieu-sama would have to work even harder after this.
Hobbes
Alda’s peaceful faction (like every other Alda-centric idealogy) value ORDER above all else… even if that established ‘order’ disenfranchises, exploits, murders, and/or harms people especially (but in no way singularly limited to) members of Vida’s races.
It’s the essence of conservative thought which Alda is known for. It’s motivated out of fear of change, uncertain futures, and the vague possibilities of bad turning to worse.
The problem is that that conservative mindset oftentimes falls into delusion, favoritism, nostalgia, and other subjective forms of thought. It requires constant objectivety and rationality in order to not start to demonize change and difference.
And neither Alda nor any of his flock understand any of that in any way, shape, or form. In fact, they devalue critical thinking as well as independent thought to such a degree that it’s mind-boggling.
Haraken
So Heinz seems to Ketchup for a brain… when you talk of nominative determinism.

Vandalieu-sama's Nun
PRAISE BE TO VANDALIEU-SAMA AND DARCIA-SAMA!!!CHILDREN OF THE GREAT VIDA-SAMA!!!ETERNAL DEATH TO THEIR ENEMIES!!!!FALL HEINZ AND THE HOLY MOTHER KILLERS O HYPOCRITICAL FOOLS!!!!
That aside I would love to say that I have always had low hopes for Heinz as a whole character since from the beginning he did always show this kinda character of not wanting to admit he killed someone’s mother, and from that he ran away tried to clear a dungeon which showed he was too weak and settled himself in the Orbaume Kingdom as the peaceful sect of Alda’s religion, taking in a similar dhampir girl and avoiding his mistakes by saying its not it or thinking it will do something. This goes on for years he does nothing in particular to help Vida’s race, downright ignores the injustice he swore to cut down and instead takes what he has been taught as a child of the extremist Alda worshippers at hand, this all comes down to Vandalieu asking questions piercing at his very sense of belief “If you plan on saving Vida’s races why did you ignore injustice in the face?” / “Why did you not apply what was going on at the situation instead of using your sword?” / “Why did you ignore the Ghouls and Titans?” these questions all seem to affect the others but to him he keeps on avoiding he has been running away all this time, running away at being a savior of both sides I think it is something he cannot do and still won’t do.I remember the Joker telling a joke here to Batman about 2 crazy people escaping the asylum together the other gets by it easily through the tight rope but the other one he refuses to because he is afraid to fall down when the first doesn’t shine the light for him, same case here Schneider chose to be a fake and practiced what is known as true justice for Vida’s races, he punched a noble to death to honour that but Heinz will turn a blind eye to because he doesn’t want to lose his fragile position in society. This is why he is similar to Bellwood and Alda because they possessed the ability to foresee the present but not future, and he still refuses to outright say “I apologize for the death of your mother”. I believe Zakkart was wiser because he was older (mentally) and Bellwood was the type of hero who did things at the spot and would think about them later, now If we were to sit them all down, champions will begin to see just how naive Bellwood is and how he wanted to carry the values he had from his world to theirs thus making their world underdeveloped. Lambda has the capability of actually reaching a Final Fantasy troupe level of development but it seems the gods were brainwashed by a naive brat who just wanted to see a primitive world. This applies to Heinz too, he will create a society where Vida’s races are all but second to humans and will say as long as the humans prosper its good his mind isn’t to protecting the goddess’ races its keeping them like domestic pets which is why he shouted when Vandalieu-sama said what he did, for now I just wanna see the new main antagonist to this story be it Avalon or Avalon + Guduranis we don’t know but hey we came to chapter 200 let’s celebrate that !!
farmer
Everyone got distracted by the chapter’s argument but we forgot that Van finally got muscle form.
Jonathan Hurd
I think this is more tumor form but yeah this is probably as good as it gets for Van til he finally finds the Demon Kings Muscles. Finding that he’d probably even spare the host if they’re an enemy out of sheer happiness.
Valeth
I figure when he gets his next growth spurt, he will start to develop muscles. He will never be ripped necessarily as I figure he is never going to be too tall. He will most likely be around Darcia’s or close to Heinz in Height.
However, most likely far stronger as he already surpasses Heinz in Strength. As to how muscled in the end I assume he will still need to train that like Schnie and Zod.
As for the Demon Kings Muscles…. Dear god isn’t he strong enough already. He mean seriously, he is already terrifying even with just physical strength. If he can control his mana and start using the one spell to enhance his muscles…. Add in the DK’s Muscles….. not sure we could comprehend that level of physical power…..
Edit: I based my assumption of his height based on he has always been smaller than others. Also the Manga gave his father a bit more face time in a chapter, as their was a flashback of essentially how he actually died and some time with Darcia.
Darcia and Valen were pretty even in height and both I’m guessing from the manga close in Height to Heinz….
VEreality
That my friend would be Saitama(-ish?) level physical power
YohaoShakur
I wasn’t expecting that but now I’m really happy about It, the discussion is a classical Reformist X Revolutionary. I don’t blame 100% Heinz and their friends for not realizing they were so hypocrite when we have a world were one god one-sidedly orders the killing of other conscious races but I can blame him for his terrible argumenting, I think that If they get out of this alive they can at least get better arguments on the future and actually understand what they really are preaching and doing.
PS: Alda is a fucker that deserves a thousands punches with soul destruction for him to understand the shit he is making of his own world
PS²: Dhampir girl used as a token was a genius Idea of author, It was like the dudes saying “I’m not racist, I have a Black friend”.
havok038
This coming battle just oozes with Vandelieu failing to kill Heinz at the very last moment because some God interfered or even that annoying Asagi. Ultimately, I’d bet a cliche death of the Five-coloured Blades is gonna take the shot for Heinz and leave him in an angst driven vengeance. These events that have transpired just says Heinz isn’t going to play much of a big bad anymore. I suspect Avalon might be the actual last boss.
Jonathan Hurd
I think you’re right that Avalon will be the final baddy. I don’t have much faith that Heinz can hold a candle to Van and his forces especially if they’re struggling against copies of Vans Allies pre Trial of Zakkart.
I definitely feel that Heinz and co will live though. Van is in the middle of enemy territory and the god in charge of the trial realized there was a problem long before Van stated it was the real him. Van did buy time to unleash his soul but that has also given Curatos time to call for reinforcements.
We already know there are some heroic spirits on call for this trial. I think they are going to make the sacrifice to save Heinz.
The biggest reason why I think Heinz is going to live though is Van hasn’t been able to taunt him yet with the undead female elf companion. Van put a lot of effort into that we can’t let that go to waste. Also I’m just really hoping Darcia ends up kicking his butt just to rub in how much farther she has come in all this time.
Ace
I agree with you the most Heinz might get is a broken soul but judging from how it was going he won’t die plus van has a pretty big handicap atm as well so he isn’t able to go all out.
Ozarazil
I he manages to kill Edgar or Delizah i’ll consider myself satisfied for now hahaha
UndeadAnonymous
Gotta agree. Heinz May get hurt in the soul but he is too valuable as a foil to Vandalieu to be removed from the story this early. He will likely be pulled or forced out by Curatos in exchange for which ever god goes in to slow down Van and gank them.
hidefreek
woah,wat….
So Heinz believe in his human supremacy than peace with Vida race, Indeed the one pick by Alda.
Mossy Stone
Heinz may end up being as bad as Bellwood …maybe Bellwood would even feel some shame at HIM? Looks like Murakami is heading his way …which means he will find out about Van’s death attribute mana …that said mana is what enables him to create/charm undead. Seeing as how Talosheim is run on it, it is gonna have to be destroyed; if only those poor deceived people would understand, cease all resistance and destroy those evil devices (and Vida’s relic and ghosts and undead), they could live in peace!
Ever hear of “mutually assured destruction”? If they were to take everything from Van, he can and WOULD take everything from them. Don’t they get it? Fortunately for them, he is working hard to make sure that doesn’t happen – despite themselves.
Billions (if not trillions) in economic activity could be generated by Van alone. He can tame cemetery bees generating high quality silk, wax, and honey; can make ents producing syrup, fruit, wood; medicines to cure disease; pesticides that save crops (without pollution); golems for construction/farming/factories (jobs!); he could teach surgery and make sanitizer, bug repellent! The foods he has created! He could save/feed/lift out of poverty literally millions – Heinz?: “Sorry, the death attribute desecrates life and must not exist.” Yeah …I I see – read any evil tomes lately?
Van can do in 100 what Alda couldn’t do in 100 freaking thousand years. If it weren’t for Vida’s people in the dark continent, the Amid empire may have long ago been consumed in devils nests – how much more could have been accomplished if not for Alda/Bellwood’s suppression/genocide?! Can’t the Alda faction go to Guduranis’ world and enact their ideal there? Get revenge while you’re at it as a sort of bonus! Wants to get rid of dungeons? Won’t that put Heinz out of a job? Sink what little economic activity there is? People who desire that are practically nonexistent in Lambda! Guduranis would be laughing in his seal if he knew. Alda, Heinz, Sauron, Saruman have all desired “peace”.
hidefreek
Alda motivated by idealism and self-righteous justice, For him reality is nothing.
Bellwood once told us about his ideal and pursue the ideal without doubt (He brainwashed Alda and co. so Alda no longer trust or doubts his action to the point accused Zakkart was brainwashed Vida).
Alda use Heinz not because he like him but the latter is the best among the best option he has left (Alda exhausted himself duiring hundred thousand years),but Heinz self-satisfied fitted Alda and allow to be use. (Heinz believe he could change Alda while Alda just use Heinz and never listen to him)
Sebas Tian
Regarding your Gudu’s world bit, his world is dead so even if Alda and co could go there, nothing should be alive at this point in time and the gods left behind would all be dead from the world and everything on it dying.
Mossy Stone
So Guduranis’ world is dead after all. I had thought some of the evil gods that left Lambda could have returned or some weak creatures were left, but guess not. Guess my theory that dungeons take their material from that world is also bust?
Speaking of “evil gods”, it’d be nice if here was a way to remove “evil” from those following Vida.
Valeth
I thought the Dark Gods following Vida were just that. Fidrig the Dark God of Five Sins for example. I think Alda is the one that labels them as evil.
Most beings don’t look at themselves as evil, even if they are. I think the Dark Gods just have very different morals, however the ones following Vida have adapted to their new world nicely.
Sebas Tian
All the gods who followed or were forced to follow Gudu to Lambda from their dying world are labeled as evil gods.
Rollrock
“Hello. My name is Vandalieu Zakkart. You killed my mother. Prepare to die.”
theblasblas
“Also, Edgar, was it?” said Vandalieu. “As you say, you simply accepted a request. You captured my mother, who broke the law. It wasn’t a crime or anything of the sort. You only did what was obvious. If that’s what you want to say, you’re completely right.”
“Of course I do,” Vandalieu replied. “I’m definitely going to kill you. Not because you people are evil, but to prevent you from taking away anyone who is precious to me ever again.”
HAHAHAHA, CALLED IT! I got into heated discussion with some editors here before about my opinion on Heinz, but I wonder if it was really them disagreeing with what I said, or they just thought I was someone who had read ahead and was spoiling people… because my statements were just too accurate.
THIS is how you create a monstrous protagonist, not some shit-fuck amoral douchebag, not a rapist monster supremacist, not a bloodthirsty sadist, but a being whose very existence is in conflict with society.
Vandalieu is like if the protagonist of I Am Legend(the book, not the movie), instead of accepting his fate as the last human and capitulating to the new vampire society, went “Fuck it, you bastards killed my wife, my daughter AND my dog, I am going to kill all of you and raise humanity up from the ashes.”
Supreme king
I don’t no of what your talkng about but it’s sounds interesting so I’ll check it out
shadowboy
that moment heinz status is like chump change compared to vandalieu
Valeth
Yeah Van has Higher Strength, Vitality, and Intelligence, lets not even bother with Mana. He does lose out on Agility, and Stamina but not by much.
You also have to figure though Van has last time I checked just shy of 12k Strength. Compared to Heinz 10,800 Strength. SO not a Huge Difference.
However, I don;t think that counts his Monstrous Strength, that he awakened from Superhuman Strength. So in that area if it doesn’t he is going to walk all over them in terms of his Physical attacks as well one would think.
I could be off on that though. As I figured this was a passive bonus on top of his stats
Morswin
There’s also that “Evil Suppression” skill that Heinz possesses along with the higher level of his awakened main fighting skill (“Radiant God Swordsmanship”).
Moreover if I remember correctly if you give someone the “Demon King” title, you and people who received your divine protection receive a boost while fighting that person and holy artifacts and artifacts made from orichalcum have bigger effect on said person as well. Also if you possess not only the “Demon King” title but also the “Champion” title these effects are enhanced.
Besides, Heinz isn’t alone.
Valeth
You have a point and the Orichalcum Shield, and any weapons will of course help versus Van, but how many of their weapons are made of it.
Heinz’s sword is magical, but it has never described it in any detail other than it burns with blue flames. I know the shield bear has a shield made of it, and some of them have armor made of it.
It will also most likely vary based on if the copies made by the god count, as they are just temporary training bodies. Even if say Heinz’s sword is made of Orichalcum then does the fake copy he is training with count as the real thing. As I am assuming that they are not just using their real gear and putting all that wear on it in this Dungeon.
Sebas Tian
It still counts as the genuine article for as long as the fake body is maintained. But yeah, their actual equipment has never set foot in the dungeon proper.
Kendov
To the stats, his body is still just developing, so there’s still a lot room for improvement even if he does nothing for the next few years. Heinz is an adult already, so now is stats only grow normally, but if van’s body was in its mature state right now, he’d surpass them by far.
UndeadAnonymous
Vandalieu is at a slight disadvantage since this is not his real body. He is technically giving a handicap as he only has part of his real status. He is also physically weaker since he is a magic oriented fighter rather than a physical one despite his monstrous strength. Plus there has to be some disadvantages for fighting using your materialized soul, it like a crab running around without its shell and since it is materialized, it isn’t like physical attacks are gonna pass right through like a ghost.
Valkit
Damn cliffhanger
bluekatt
Thanks <3
Mossy Stone
Remember what Schneider did to the noble who beat the slave to death? Heinz probably would have bought some flowers for the grave.
“Do you understand what you’ve done? (Heinz)
“I think I do.” (Van)
“No you don’t!” (Heinzj
Undead cannot be tolerated, END of discussion! (Heinz)
Being educated from birth to hate Vida’s races, not given all the facts by Van are points in favor of Heinz, however he still has enough information to make a decision more in line with Van …would have even more if he were open to an actual discussion, but he isn’t. He won’t even acknowledge the other person’s right to think differently without being evil.
Being on the frontline with the Amid empire, succession dispute, payoffs to pure breed vampires all took their toll on the Hartner treasury (OK the fort was because of Van) – Heinz knows the family is corrupt …but he overlooks that and condemns Van for rescuing his own citizens?! …Oh right, Titan spirits don’t mater. How much tax money did this A/S ranked party cost the beleaguered citizens?
Van is engaged to the granddaughter of the first king of the Sauron kingdom so he (and the Scyllia) actually have the strongest claim to the whole duchy …not that Heinz would acknowledge a bunch of monsters “get’n uppidy” so there’s no point telling him. He would have done nothing about the murders rationalizing the threatening of the resistance too risky.
Heinz is lukewarm water I want to spew out of my mouth (and into Alda’s face). Holy Mother Killer? Ha! So appropriate …and ironic since Heinz was working for the Pure breed Vampires (unknowingly) when capturing Darcia. I hope Dianna and jennifer leave and join the Vida “peace through strength” faction!
A Lincoln/Douglas style debate would be a great thing to see in Lamda; Van should publish a book of his arguments. Wonder what a Heinz/Darcia conversation would look like?
Haraken
Schneider is a perfect example of someone who decided to think for himself instead of letting what was nurtured dictate his actions. If Heinz end up surviving this encounter with Vandelieu, I really want to see him meet Schneider as an opponent and have Schneider just deck the crap out of Heinz as his antithesis in that regard.
Morgan
“This is my own soul, materialized into physical form. It is not a spirit; it is the most primitive form of my existence,”
You should probably have “primordial” rather than “primitive”
Morgan
Also I doubt Heinz and party will die. Curatos has been trying to remove Van’s fake body from the dungeon and is failing so he’ll just remove Heinz and party instead and probably send a bunch of familiar spirits or fake supermonsters to attack Van.
Morgan
3rd comment! But anyway, Van should have just called them hypocrites. They would have gotten a title that makes people distrust them.
Sebas Tian
Curatos can’t remove any of them from the dungeon because he’s not a space attribute god that can teleport their bodies around. Since the fake bodies they’re using are already under someone else’s control, Curatos can’t do anything except kill the fake body to save them from Van. Also, he was trying to reset the fake to factory settings without noticing that someone else was controlling the body, by the time he figured it out we’ve got Heinz and co nearly done with their fight against the fakes of Van’s allies.
Jonathan Hurd
We do know there are some dedicated Heroic Spirits in this dungeon so I’m assuming those guys will bust in and kill Heinz and crews fake bodies then die to Van.
I honestly really want Curatos to be stupid enough to jump in himself. If that happens I don’t think he does but is put in a coma. With him out of commission the trial would also grind to a halt.
Cr1m50nR3ap3r
Ohh damn that’s a nice sounding skill name
Mangydog1
I was looking at Heinz’s stats and he has a 9,962 intelligence. I was wondering what this represents, it obviously isn’t brain power.
taurussilver
it might be for something like cost efficiency for spells
Valeth
As I recall it has to do with how many Skills/Spells can be used before they start to have physical issues. Such as Van getting a fever back when he was fighting the Dragon Golem way back when.
The higher your Intelligence the more you can use and focus on at once I think.
Ryuuseiboy1
I think he just joking about the INT stat he have doesn’t reflect his real intelligence
Vaccaria
I’ve always said that Heinz is an idiot hypocrite, but some people continue to say he only naive and not to blame. Now? Please, I want your opinion oh people who think Heinz is right.
Randomreader
Don’t you mean people who thought cause at this point no one but Alda believes in him
lazygeko
Even Alda isn’t really that happy with him. More along the lines of “He’s all I got, so he will have to do.” 🙂
theblasblas
Uhh, did you even read what Vandalieu said? He flat out states that even from his perspective Heinz isn’t in the wrong here. Van will still kill Heinz not because he is wrong, but because he hates him. Hatred is beyond good and evil. You’re like missing the entire point of their discussion(from a story perspective).
Really, I was questioning you people’s reading comprehension before, but now you’re just flat out ignoring what Van says.
Morswin
I believe that the point is that Heinz is a hypocrite because he proclaims that Vida’s races should be treated equally with humans, elfs and dwarfs while treating ghuls, majin and kijin like monsters, not even trying to reason with them. When Van says that they aren’t in the wrong, he is referring to the statement made by Edgar that they simply accepted the request when they captured Darcia.
Rollrock
That’s not at all what Vandalieu was getting at. What he was saying was that they would have been correct if their reasoning was taken out of context or applied to situations where their interpretation of the events that took place was the truth. Some of Heinz’s group simply do not care what is right or wrong and the others are ignorant. Now, this could have been used as an excuse to favor Heinz’s failure to apply critical thinking: ignorance, but he is not ignorant. Heinz is aware of the true state of things, of the fact that Vida’s races are not mere monsters, of the oppression the beings created by Vida suffered and wholesale slaughter carried out against them that he himself participated in and dragged other, less informed people into. He simply chooses to ignore it in order to avoid challenging his beliefs and keep pressing forward with his version of truth. Whereas Vandalieu, whenever a challenge, a revelation, or a hidden truth uncovered itself over the course of his journey, worked with those things, adapted to them or overcame them, all Heinz has been doing was eluding, trying to weasel his way out of admitting that he’s a killer pretending to be a hero. Just look at his response when Diana actually attempted to confront his way of thinking, a far more ignorant person having the truth shine on her misconceptions. “That’s right, Diana. But even so, we are a part of Alda’s peaceful faction.”
That’s right, Diana, we’ve been going around killing women and children by the hundreds if not thousands, but we’re the peaceful faction.
Jonathan Hurd
I would say what Van means by Heinz is right is following human law they haven’t done anything wrong. It wasn’t against the law to hunt down Vans mom and give her to extremists. It is also perfectly legal to slaughter ghouls and Majin. Being legally okay doesn’t make it morally good or right though.
The biggest problem with their defense is how they use Darcia’s death. They spread the story of how they had a change of heart watching her be legally burned, but then absolve themselves of the guilt from giving her to the priests to burn by shouting it was legal! They say watching Darcia a person of Vida’s races being killed changed them but then they keep killing others of Vida’s races. They condemn Van for taking action while doing nothing themselves. They’re just hypocrits.
theblasblas
No, Van is acknowledging that their interpretation of the events is INDEED correct. The wonderful thing about Van is his self-awareness of what a terrifying monster he is. Darcia is indeed a criminal who cavorted with an evil vampire and spawned a dangerous creature. But to Van that is besides the point, all justification, all reason pales before one simple fact: he HATES them. They played a hand in getting his mother killed, and logic and justice be damned he’s going to kill them for it.
As for Heinz and co, we haven’t really seen them go around killing ghouls ever since the peaceful faction bit, what’s confirmed in this conversation is that they have done so in the past, and that is the context of the line, “That’s right, Diana. But even so, we are a part of Alda’s peaceful faction.” Or in other words, “Yes, we have done horrible things, but that is precisely why we’re trying to make things right, that is the only way we can atone” with a dash of “this is the current political reality, we’re doing the best we can do”. In any case, even if they were still going about killing ghouls without talking to them first… what of it? When 99% of ghouls they encounter are hostile to humans, why risk their lives and that of other people by talking? To paraphrase Goblins Slayer, “Good goblins? Perhaps there are some. But the only good goblins, are the ones that never leave their stinkin’ holes”. Which is quite poignant because it has been mentioned before that the only civilized ranked races are those that are staying in the inner portion of the mountain range where humans never go to, even Zadiris and her tribe attacked humans before.
Morswin
Did Darcia break the low of the Amid Empire? Yes.
Did Five Colored Blades only accept the mission to capture a criminal? Yes.
Does Van accept these facts but still wants to kill Five Colored Blades, not because they are evil but because he hates them? Yes.
However that doesn’t mean that Heinz and the others are in the right with their current bearing, that Van acknowledges it or that they aren’t hypocrites.
Hypocrite is a person who states that they believe one thing and then conducts actions that contradict this belief (this should be one of the definitions).
If I remember correctly Heinz stated that he wants peace with Vida’s races, that he wants to cooperate with them, that they shouldn’t be killed merely because they exist. Judging from the words of Diana (“No way! Then that means we have been… We have been calling ourselves members of the peaceful faction while slaying members of a race created by Vida?!” Diana cried out in shock.), they have hunted Ghuls after they started to proclaim themselves Peaceful Faction. Moreover they have been doing it without checking if Ghouls were indeed guilty. They slayed even children and babies that couldn’t possibly be guilty of any crime other then existing. Add to this that 3 original members knew or at least suspected that Ghuls
are members of Vida’s races but didn’t go out of their way to confirm it or change their approach.
To these facts you replied “… what of it?” and suggested that they shouldn’t endanger lives of people by pointlessly talking to the mostly hostile group (in the same way as young adventurers shouldn’t feel pity for goblins they are killing because it may result in their or others death). Indeed this kind of mindset MAY have been right if we were talking about any other adventurers but the subjects of our conversation are the heads of Peaceful Faction. Heinz isn’t some kind of Goblin Slayer, he is someone who pictures himself as reformist. If they wanted to hold true to their beliefs then they should have at least tried this coexistence that they preach… but they didn’t. As such they are hypocrites.
My original reason for replying to your previous comment was also to specify this. Because I believe that the person who started this discussion (Vaccaria) wanted to say that Heinz is a hypocrite and you just started saying why Van wants to kill Heinz and that Van thinks Heinz isn’t in the wrong. Darcia’s death and Heinz being hypocrite now aren’t exactly the same thing.
Jonathan Hurd
I’d just like to restate that Heinz has no right to fall back on a defense of handing Darcia over being legal. He has been going around garnering sympathy and fame for how deeply wrong he found Darcia’s execution. He doesn’t get to then turn around and tell her son ‘your mom’s death moved me but I take no responsibility for my part in it’.
Add in that judging by Diana and Jennifer’s reactions they themselves have killed more of Vida’s races mothers and their children. So Heinz is not only not helping mothers after what he witnessed he is executing more of them and their children.
Rollrock
“Which is quite poignant because it has been mentioned before that the only civilized ranked races are those that are staying in the inner portion of the mountain range where humans never go to, ”
That is absolute nonsense. The orcs, kobolds, the scylla, empusa, archne and majin or kojin are all civilized races. They had built cities, had societies, rules and traditions. It had been stated by Alda-aligned historians and chroniclers, which pretty much by extension is all but the most intelligent and extensive sources of education in the world, the sources usually not available to a commoner or even a nobleman and their point of view is quite removed from the reality of their situation. And your comparison between Ghouls and Goblins falls absolutely flat because Ghouls can reproduce between each other and were driven to a tribalist hunter-gatherer lifestyle by the extreme prejudice and continued slaughter of their people at the hands of Alda-believers. And not all vampires are evil either, take the guardians of Vida’s tomb and their followers for example, they are not mindless bloodsuckers from Bram Stoker’s Dracula in this fictional tale or nutcases like Gubamon, you should not apply logic from other stories to this one when discussing internal workings of its creations. Last but not least, something being legal does not mean it is moral or just, Or would you not find the right to primae noctis offensive or immoral then? Judging by your reply, you either skipped dozens of chapters worth of information and jumped in here after reading the poor manga adaptation or simply have no idea what you’re talking about at all and are throwing crap out to see if it sticks.
Morswin
To be fair, saying that there are no civilized individuals belonging to the Vida’s races that posses ranks outside the Boundary Mountain Range is indeed untrue (Scyllas from the Sauron duchy are a good example), however it’s hard to say what is the situation with Orcs, Kobolds and Goblins (because it seems to me that Goblins and Orcs, especially Goblins, form primitive groups that don’t pass information and culture on the next generations [outside the Boundary Mountain Range of course]). Though it is indeed true that before Alda’s forces attacked Bahn Gaia continent this races had formed civilization, it is also true that individuals that has been living under god’s guidance and those spawned inside dungeons and living in the wild are vastly different from each other.
Goblins and Kobolds can procreate inside their own races too. It was stated around the time when Van was staying in the Ghuls’ village that there are female representatives of this races.
Although it is true that prejudice and slaughter have had a considerable impact on Ghuls’ live style, the fact that this race had no choice but to live in Devil’s Nests and adopt a system when anyone can have sex with anyone at almost any time because of their poor fertility and even then they have sometimes faced situations when they had to capture individuals of other races to replenish their diminishing population, can’t be ignored.

Finally caught up after I started reading this 1-2 weeks ago, man this story just became one of my favorites. Anyway this chapter really surprised me in a good way, this chapter showed the clearly showed the naivety and human dominance there is in Alda’s peaceful faction that Heinz was preaching. Heinz belief wasn’t twisted in any way to make it more convenient for us readers to justify what’s probably going to happen to him, it just shed light that though he wants to help Vida’s race, they are still secondary to humans in his eyes, it wasn’t as noticeable in the chapters which featured Heinz’s party as they barely encountered anyone which conflicts with their ideals as much as Van does. In the end the so called help he is trying to give to Vida’s races is comparable to some random person throwing spare change towards a beggar, the best they could do is provide help that would barely bother them and outright deny providing any help to them as long as there is a sign that they could pose a threat to more people (humanity). As Van had said, it would just lead to a human-centric social order.
And now I can throw all the concern I have for the Holy Mother Killers up until this chapter out the window hehe.
Jonathan Hurd
I feel like they are worse than someone who just throws some change at the homeless. They are the type who would throw a penny and then trumpet around how amazing they are for the heroic sacrifice.
The problem with Heinz and Aldas peaceful faction is that all they do is lip service. They say nice things like accepting Vidas races but make no efforts at all towards them. They get to tell themselves they’re good while not making any of the sacrifices.
I think the most insulting part is how unphased Heinz and Edgar were about Ghouls being a race of Vidas. They never bothered to check and inform their fellow members. Spreading the word. Doing anything to help an obviously oppressed race of Vida. Here is a perfect chance to truly make a difference but instead they’re taking quests to kill them.
Rollrock
At least the story has a hero that actually does those things, Thunderclap Schneider, the bastard. Although his actions have earned him the ire of hypocrites and murderers and he definitely isn’t a part of Alda’s peaceful faction in anything but name, however he had done more than any of them combined to champion the cause they supposedly wish followed.

“… You don’t hate Heinz and the others?” Diana asked.
“Of course not,” Vandalieu replied. “I’m definitely going to kill you. Not because you people are evil, but to prevent you from taking away anyone who is precious to me ever again.”
According to my understanding of english, if there is a question containing a negation then answering to it with “of course not” should confirm the argument contained within said question. I’m not sure if what i want to say is clear, but it basically means that Van said that he doesn’t hate them but is still going to kill them.
However, I don’t feel like this is the case. It appears more logical to me that Vandalieu meant that he hates them and is going to kill them.
So basically I’m trying to ask: what is this dhampir actually saying?
Kazza
I mean, yes, grammatically you have a point, but the sentence still flows. Just replace “don’t hate” with “forgive” and that fixes your problem.

This was a mistranslation, I fixed it. Thanks!

Your welcome. I’m glad i could help. Your doing an amazing job.
Demonuss69
I like many had some pretty low expectations for Heinz and his party, but I was not expecting such pathic defenses as the ones they gave. So some unexpected construction work, loss of national revenue, and increased taxes for military expenditure to retake practically useless land. Is supposed to trump centuries of enslavement and abuse to the Titains and Scylla. Yea Heinz just keep patting yourself on the back for being part of the “peaceful” faction, at least the extremists don’t have to be hypocrits in order to sleep at night. You can actually respect those guys, they’ll tell you to your face how they want to kill you. And hate to say it Diana but that war has been raging for hundreds of thousands of years now only difference now is that it will no longer be a one sided slaughter. And how messed do you have to be to not even apologize for killing a kids mother when he was barely a toddler. I had Heinz pegged as a misguided and ignorant man, but nope turns out he’s just a piece of human garbage. I can’t wait til we’re done with this pseudo soul bs and Heinz becomes nothing but xp for Van, what a glorious day that will be.
Sebas Tian
100 thousand years, not hundreds of thousands of years the war has been going on.
Demonuss69
My fault, still a very long time though. So point still stands I do believe.
Arha
Heinz pissed me off here too, but there are a few points in his favor here. First, Van is presenting a skewed version of events that makes himself look worse by not mentioning he has the cultivation villagers in his nation, that the Hartner family attacked their own citizens as well and so on. Second, he throws accusations in their faces without giving them a chance to think about it and realize they’re hypocritical assholes and possible rectify their behavior. I think the two newbies, at least, never realized they were hypocrites and feel ashamed of themselves. Third, I think Heinz’ point wasn’t exactly that taxes on humans are worse than Vida’s people dying but rather that if anyone finds out he’s responsible then peace will become much more difficult because people will resent him greatly and blame the ghouls and so on, not their own leaders. The problem there is that Van doesn’t care if there’s a war because the time for negotiation has already passed. Amid wouldn’t do so anyway and even if they agreed Alda wouldn’t allow it.
He’s still a racist asshole who won’t accept responsibility for his actions, yes, but he’s not totally to blame here. Since he obviously isn’t going to die here it becomes a question of whether he learns anything from this and becomes a better person or just goes ‘Ugh, his soul is ugly and he disagreed with me, he must be evil and therefore needs to be purged.’ My expectations are low but hey, maybe he can surprise us.
But Edgar can fuck right off. At least Heinz feels guilty, but Edgar is just along for the ride. Prick.
Jonathan Hurd
I would say Van does give them the chance to realize their mistakes. It’s just every time they one of them is about to have an epiphany another one steps up to give them an out. Mostly that’s done by Heinz and Edgar. Once they do that though Van poked another hole in their excuse and forced them once more to see their pathetic self. By the end the only defense Heinz and crew had left was shouting at Van that he is wrong and stupid. By that point there is no point talking to them anymore. Van constantly forced them to face the truth and they ran at every turn. He answered everyone of their questions but they refused to answer a single one of his.
In response to your third point I feel you’re giving Heinz way to much credit to start. The problem is that it just doesn’t make much sense. No one would believe a dhamphir under 10 years old did all those things. If the leaders tried to say it to the people not only would people laugh at them they would also see it as insulting their intelligence.
Another big problem with blaming Vida’s races for these problems is they honestly didn’t hit the lay people directly. Higher taxes is to fix the rulers castle. That is a choice the rulers made. Another problem with blaming Van for this is you just look weak. You couldn’t protect the very symbol of your power in the heart of your country and now you’re demanding others to fight to the death over that? In all likelihood the Hartner Duchy would have a revolt on their hands days after that decision.
Sauran Duchy is even easier. No one who follows the warning dies. Anyone who dies then brought it on themselves. Adventuring and soldiering are dangerous jobs. It’s stupid and immature to cry about death in such professions especially when you decided for yourself to enter such a dangerous place.
In the end Vans actions are not going to push anyone closer to war. If anything it pulls them farther from it because they have new worries and things to deal with. He destabilized the Hartner Duchy to the point they can’t fight a war, but he also solved the issue of refugees easing that strain on them as well as helping the general population with his dungeons and gifts.
As for the Sauron Duchy he is the reason it was liberated and the Amid Empire backed off. If anything he is the major reason the border war has currently stopped. Add in if you don’t go to the Scylla region no one will try to kill you.
Arha
He was getting somewhere with some of them and this is typically the kind of thing you need time to think over.
It’s not really giving Heinz too much credit because it’s not giving him a lot. He goes right from listing all the problems Van caused to say it’s like he’s itching for war, so it’s easy to conclude that that’s why he’s upset. But that’s still not good because it means he isn’t taking the problems the Scylla were facing seriously and as needing to be addressed immediately. Ignorance only gets you so far.
The undead in Sauron have turned the area into a devil’s nest and then driven the monsters into the surrounding area. Ignoring the problem doesn’t make it go away. And the people would believe it because they pretty consistently have when shown stuff so far, not to mention they don’t need to mention his age.
Tyrants with unstable reigns always find groups to blame for why things are bad to avoid discontent being aimed at them, then persecuting those groups. Kurds in the middle East, Jews in Germany, refugees in Europe, immigrants from anyway in anywhere etc. Van is a convenient scapegoat.
And while publicizing the good he’s done may have some benefits, Van doesn’t have the personality, credibility or resources to capitalize on them. He doesn’t brag, his name is still mostly unknown, he lacks agents in foreign countries and to reveal that information would require revealing a lot of damaging things about himself.
Lord Rin
There aren’t really many monsters coming out of the former Scylla territory. Most of them got killed by Van’s undead before they could leave the devil’s nest. Any that escape could easily be wiped out by normal adventurers and there is no need to build a fort. As for the devil’s nest itself, most monsters born in them tend to stay there and only very rarely do they leave them. Van specifically put up a sign warning people about the dangers of going into the devil’s nest. If people die in there then it is entirely their own responsibility and fault
if they die there. Also a devil’s nest isn’t like a dungeon where the monsters can flood out because some new super powerful monster got born in a lower level and drove the others out. The Sauron duchy could very well ignore the devil’s nest and there would be no problems but they are the ones refusing to and keep poking their nose into it despite the warnings. We’ve seen how other places ignore devil’s nests unless they happen to form near cities. Meanwhile the one in the former Scylla territory is in a remote location where the land wasn’t good enough for the humans to want to try to reclaim.
Arha
The devil’s nest will keep spreading so long as the monsters aren’t cleared up, though, and it’s really only ghouls that have to stay inside one. Dungeons are also more likely to spawn in a devil’s nest as well. Since they can’t go in to deal with the monsters inside all they can do is kill what monsters do leave as best they can to slow down the spread of the devil’s nest. I mean, I’m not sympathetic to Duke Sauron at all because he brought this on himself, but this is a problem that puts people in slight danger now and will grow increasingly dangerous so long as it remains uncleared.
Sebas Tian
The area already has dungeons and those are being cleared regularly by Van’s undead forces. The monsters spawned by the devil’s nest are either killed by Van’s army and added to it, or they run away and spread the devil’s nest even further and eventually will be outside the area of the Scylla territory.
Arha
Right, and being outside the Scylla territory is the problem because out there they might kill some villagers or will spread the devil’s nest further. Duke Sauron is a jerk and his regime is corrupt, but the citizens don’t know that and have no control over that kind of thing.
Jonathan Hurd
Monsters are threats, but you can’t ignore the benefits monsters bring. They aren’t just threats. They also attract adventurers. With adventurers you get business. Someone needs to house them, process the goods, repair their items, and resupply them. This world is a naturally dangerous place that is why people made towns and defend themselves. I feel like people are to stuck in this ‘wont someone think of the villagers’ mindset. Dealing with monsters is a normal and sometimes welcomed part of their life.
The monsters leaking out of the Scylla’s marshes aren’t threatening enough to destroy towns. Sure the flow can’t be stopped completely but since they are constantly pushed out they can’t fester and evolve to a real threat. They’re just annoying to the Lord who is trying to establish his new rule and get ready to fight the Amid Empire. Especially since this means not only can he not give his followers the Scyllas land but it also means expending money to the land near it.
gomezseba37
oh if van is in not in his body nad its a materialized soul he can use the physical enhancemente magic that he couldt use because his body wasnt able to handle it he is going to destroy them if heinz can slice mountains with his skills and he only has like 130000 mana if van uses like 1/5 of his mana in enchancement wich is like 1.2 billion he can probably punch away the entire mountain boundry line
Jonathan Hurd
I would personally love to see Van basically become Saitama from One Punch Man, but I don’t think his soul could handle that kind of concentration of mana. He uses about a Billion to launch Hollow Cannon and he has yet to do that without breaking part of his soul. That happens when Van is just concentrating the mana to his finger not even his own body.
He honestly might be able to do it soon with the help of the Gyarbarzo staff.
Morswin
I believe that he is only breaking his arm while using hollow canon, not his soul.
Lord Rin
He only got injured once when firing Hollow Cannon. That was when he first used it and he had no experience with it plus he was pissed at the time so he couldn’t control it well enough and that’s why he injured himself with it. Since then he’s gotten used to it so he doesn’t get injured though it still costs a ridiculous amount of mana.
Jonathan Hurd
Pieces of him have fallen off each time he has fired as I remember. For instance I think he broke his ‘legs’ when he killed Gyrazbo. He couldn’t put them back so he went to peoples dreams and handed them out.
Jonathan Hurd
Re-read the old chapter. He couldn’t stand after his first shot. During Gyrazbo he just ruptured the capillaries all over his arm up to his shoulders and his hand started splitting. Those firings weren’t him going full blast though but rapid firing so less damage than the first shot.
Guroga
ok wasn’t expecting another chapter so soon. glad i decided to visit the site
finally we get van vs heinz showdown
Morswin
Hello, thank you for the translation.
Um… everyone is talking about Heinz and what he is representing but… I have a different concern.
Where is the Farzon duchy?
I know that Sauron duchy is along the border with the Mirg Shield Nation, it has Boundary Mountain Range to the south and (most likely) sea to the north.
Hartner duchy is bordering the Boundary Mountain Range and Sauron duchy.
Alcrem duchy has Sauron to the West and sea to the North.
Quoting from this chapter: “I was sure that he would choose either the Birgitt Duchy because it’s the southernmost among the Duchies along the mountain range, or the Jahan Duchy because it’s the farthest.”.
If I remember correctly there are 4 duchies adjacent to the Boundary Mountain Range. So first is Sauron, second is Hartner, third is unknown and fourth is Birgitt duchy.
Again quoting from this chapter: “The Birgitt Duchy is just east of the Farzon Duchy, right?”.
If that’s the case then Farzon should be between Hartner duchy and Birgitt duchy, it shoud be that third unknown duchy adjacent to the Boundary Mountain Range right?
But quoting from chapter 168: “The Farzon Duchy was one of the Orbaume Kingdom’s twelve duchies, the duchy that prospered on its maritime and fishing industries.”.
Judging from this Farzon duchy should border the sea, but if it is between the Hartner and Birgitt there shoud be no way it is bordering it. Unless Birgitt duchy is to the west of Farzon duchy and not the other wey.
Also Jahan is the farthest from Boundary Mountain Range or the farthest to the south?
I understand that some of this inconsistencies may be a result of haw author wrote it (or me misunderstanding something), but if someone is able to clarify i would be thankful if they did.
Funky K
agreed… I wonder if anyone knows where we can find a decent map of the Continent?
Morswin
Well… i suppose we will get something when manga catches up with us, or rather with Yoshi.
Wannabe
Yeah, the only way it makes sense is if they consider a sea route from Birgitt as along the mountain range somehow. There are pictures in chapters 7 and 10 of the manga showing that orbaum has coastline on the south, but I don’t know how they would both border the mountains in that order with Farzon also having access to the sea.

Thanks for another wonderfull chapter, ha I see well I knew there was no peacefull resolution but its good that the author laid it all out, now they do recognize each otehr as enemys there will be no missunderstanding in the end, neither will stop till the other is dead wish is a nice touch. I am somehow dissapointed in Heinz reaction but I can see why it is that way, he is no more evil or delusional that others heck he definetly is better that Bellwood, but his ‘logic’ is alien to Van and the others, he can’t understand their way of life, he has never do. He is the perfect example of the eviorement that he was raised.
theblasblas
Precisely! Haha, it’s real sad that I had to scroll down this far to find someone who gets what the author was trying to do.
Jonathan Hurd
I feel the author is using this chapter in a variety of ways. The first and most obvious is to update Heinz and co about Van so Heinz and the rest aren’t completely blindsided when they meet in real life. Another obvious touch is to show Heinzs hypocrisy and shallowness as well as shoving their faces in it.
A less obvious side to the conversation though for me is we see Vans growth. It wasn’t so long ago that Van went completely berserk watching images of Heinz standing over his dead friends in the trial of Zakart. Also considering how Van reacted first meeting Heinz in Niakri. Van actually having a conversation with Heinz is amazing.
Another part I like relating to Vans calm approach is how smartly he handled it. Van was aware a God on Alda’s side was watching so he didn’t give away any info Alfa could use against his city. He only gave out details Alda should know while still earnestly answering questions and he used the Q and A to bring to light Heinz hypocrisy to him and his members.
We can then contrast that to Heinz and his groups very emotional reaction and approach to the conversation. They ignored that Van stated he plans to fight them soon. They refuse to answer most of not all Vans questions and they desperately shirk responsibility at every turn.
I feel like these differences in approach to conversation helps establish how opposed Heinz and Co are from Van by showing they are different in every way. Van is alone, outwardly calm but angry on the inside, logical, coming with information versus Heinz and crew who use their anger to shut down the conversation, knowing nothing, and shirking any real responsibility.
Jonathan Hurd
I feel like Heinz isn’t some who has improved on Bellwoods ideas than someone who is just following in Bellwoods footsteps with a little foot note added. Notice how at the end of the fight, before talking to Van, Heinzs first comment was on how their battle affected the environment. They have obviously spent a lot more time thinking about that than Vidas races. Same can be said for their instant rejection of Undead and Heinzs declaration that they are doing the right thing even after they murdered Vidas races.
Heinz doesn’t really have any theory or philosophy other than Bellwoods teachings. The only exception is the thing they keep parroting about convincing Alda to change but they have clearly not put any real thought into that. Bellwood was a racist and a hypocrite but at least he was original and thought for himself even if it was short sighted.
Aizen
Oo man I fiiiiiinally caught up!!!
Alright, I have been reading it from start to this chapter and along the way I had different opinions of Hienz but this chapter changes that opinions to complete garbage.
He just said “Do you know how many people suffered from high taxes because you released the titans and tilted the castle.”
I mean, SERIOUSLY!!
He always says he want to talk to Alda about coexistence with Vida’s races. Just think for a moment, if Alda wanted coexistence, why would the war between him and Vida ever happen.
And from what I have read so far, I think Amemiya Hiroto from Origin isn’t too different from Hienz or Bellwood.
All three of them love to push there opinions on others and start acting on it without waiting for other’s reply.
As for Rodcorte,….. If I start talking about him I don’t think I will stop.
Triger
I just reread the chapter and realized hienz already knew ghouls were one of vida’s races
Valeth
Yep, he also acknowledges the Majin as a Race of Vida, but just states they are evil. Doesn’t seam to care much IMO. O sure if your civilized and can live like us, and do things like us sure we will help. However, he comes off as not willing to accept the more savage races, at least savage in his eyes.
As one could argue more primitive societies are often more noble then ones that seek riches, and trade for their own betterment.
Jonathan Hurd
From this chapter I think I kind of understand Heinz’s personality a bit better and why he responded the way he did to Vandalieu. I feel like at the end of the day Heinz is, like Alda and Bellwood, a coward who made a mistake and is incapable of admitting fault. That is why he and his entire party spend the entire conversation with Vandalieu never owning up to a mistake but always seeking a loop hole or a way out. No matter how stupid that hole is. This is shown to me in two cases.
One is in how Edgar tries to tell Vandalieu that they shouldn’t be blamed for killing his Mom because it was, in their society, legally and morally right. If you take a step back and think about it for a second. That is probably the stupidest argument anyone could make to someone whose parent you killed, but the point was always to make themselves feel better about their own actions. They never once apologize. They never admit their own wrongs. They spend the entire conversation trying to wiggle their way out or deflect.
The other big case is with how they respond when Vandalieu brings up the oppressed Titans and Sycla. They have proclaimed themselves Alda’s peaceful faction which is trying to help Vida’s races, but here were two groups of Vida’s races they completely ignored and left to be oppressed. I’ve noticed a lot of people look at Heinz and the rest declaring Vandalieu’s saving these groups increasing taxes as racism, but I don’t think that’s what this is about. I think this is more dodging on Heinz and the rests part. Its an excuse for why it was okay that they themselves didn’t step in. That things for the whole of the nation became worse due to Vandalieu saving these people. Therefore Heinz and Co. didn’t overlook the Scyla and Titans, but instead made the right decision to leave things because that created the most happiness for the most people.
It has become clear to me that Heinz isn’t really evil or racist. Hes just stupid and lazy. He is similar to Asagi in that. Both of them never really listen to the other side. Both also yelled at Vandalieu that he doesn’t understand the consequences of his actions when it is in fact they who do not understand anything at all. Vandalieu has thought about his plans. He has analyzed and discussed his course with many different groups ranging from his allies, Gods, and even enemies like the General from the Hartner Duchy/Ice Age the spear/ and even Asagi. In both situations with the Titans of Hartner Duchy and the Sycla of the Sauron Duchy he started out trying to do things in a peaceful way. It was greedy humans who stepped on those good intentions and forced Vandalieu’s hand.
Vandalieu wouldn’t of destroyed the castle and slave mine if the Hartner Family had not kept the Titans for over 200 years after betraying them. He would of been upset with the previous head but Vandaleiu has proven he can separate the sins of the father from the son.
For the Sauron Duchy Vandaleiu would of happily supported the Paris brothers if they hadn’t decided to start killing the Scyla, exploit them, and then dump them. He would of also happily deactivated the Undead Summoning Circles and asked just to have the Scyla’s marshlands as a reward when the new Duke Sauron took over. Land nobody else wanted to begin with.
SaMu
The only difference now between Heinz and co. and a normal Alda believer is that Heinz and co are hypocrites
Bob, Son of Bob
Stupidity and laziness are part of it, but I think the biggest problem Rodcorte, Alda, Bellwood and Heinz all have in common is their immense pride leading them to become self-righteous. Every one of them thinks they’re in the right, no matter what.
Since they’re so utterly convinced of their own righteousness, they never stop to consider the consequences of their actions. They never listen to other people who could tell them how and why they’re wrong.
Alda is a prime example. His only goal is to return the world to the Age of the Gods. He wants that so badly he literally attacked, imprisoned and stole the authority of his only surviving sibling. What was so fucking awful about her? What was she doing that was so unforgivable that he had to wage war immediately on the heels of another war? Oh right, she knew his goal was impossible and was trying to ensure their survival by creating new races adapted to their damaged, polluted world.
So yeah. I agree the biggest and most odious villains so far are all lazy and stupid, but those are symptoms of a much deeper, much worse flaw.
Mathio
God, Heinz is the worst!! More stupid that a Shonen hero! Lol! I can understand that creating undead is bad for him but vandalieu has only his death attribute magic. P
Also, I have two questions for Heinz. Give your opinion, people.
1) how much members of races of Vida are integred in society? (I bet zero)
2)in a future where Heinz kills vandalieu, what will happen? (bad ending for him
Jonathan Hurd
1) To me Heinz isn’t far sighted enough to ever have thought about how Vida’s races are to be integrated. He seems to me a similar type to Bellwood. Someone who stands up and shouts right sounding things like ‘Vida’s races should be included’, but has no plans or ideas to make it come true. He would just keep shouting that as more of Vida’s races are abused and nothing changes as far as I can see.
2) Honestly I would say without Vandalieu to stand up for Vida and her races. Heinz and Alda probably finally destroy her and reign at the top. Considering the pattern Heinz has shown thus far. He would probably say he feels guilty but shrug his shoulders and say it was for the greater good in the end. I think that would be the best ending he could probably get. There really isn’t a place for him in a world where Vandalieu is a live.
Tejing
Well, Heinz had his chance to see how narrow his view of things was…. and he just totally wasted it. Disappointing, but honestly very realistic… people mostly don’t change. On that note though, props to Van for seriously investigating whether peace with them was possible before going all Inigo Montoya on him (“Hello, my name is Vandalieu Zakkart, you kill my mother, prepare to die”). I don’t think the Van from a few years ago would have been capable of that. Still a sliver of hope for Diana and Jennifer though… they did seem to be given a fair amount of food for thought.
gomezseba37
he said ” im going to kill you 3″ so he basically wants to kill the original ones
NjShade
Just like bellwood, only think fast method for peace but lack of understanding its long term side effect its would bring to lambda….. utterly stupid both of them
Moridin
Well, I certainly agree that Heinz & co wasted their opportunity to show that they had put far more thought into the conversion to the peace faction and what its ideals need to be than just the vague “vida’s races shouldn’t just be exterminated or enslaved”.
However, Van put no effort into turning that conversation into an argument to convince Heinz of anything. His entire focus was to buy time to get that fake version of himself under as much control of his real capabilities as he could, and to use the “buy time” conversation to verbally attack Heinz and co to feel as unsettled/terrible as possible prior to attacking them, without giving away capabilities and secrets that may or may not cause harm to his nations but would have supported his side of things if he was serious about changing Heinz’s mind (the condition of his undead vs normal undead, immigration of people not their disappearance, meeting and conversing with all of Vida’s gods & not just Farmaun [as well as him having 4 of the remaining 7 great gods on his side], listing all of Vida’s races or how to tell them apart from straight up monsters [never seen in a dungeon, have job capabilities, etc], underhanded things nobles and the Amid had done [often on behalf of the turncoat/evil vampires] that pushed war footing over his desire to be left alone).
Also, people aren’t very good about taking knowledge bombs and immediately changing their positions if those positions seem potentially still maybe possibly defensible (aka, maybe I can get out of this without feeling like a racist evil murderer if I just explain). Their explanation/excuses sucked however (sans I guess the “what?! they are Vida races?!” and the subsequent followup “of course we didn’t treat them like people, we treated them like goblins”… though not sure if Heinz suspected they were Vida races or just had an inkling, or was fast on his feet for just that one part of the conversation).
People also are underselling Heinz and co vs an under-strength Van. Heinz himself has 8 awakened skills (1 awakened twice) and some skills seem to have been given specifically to take on Van and his allies. They’d be killed for sure by actual Van, but this one is Evil breaking swords van (physically) and whatever extra he can pull across with his soul, with no equipment by himself (since his fake allies are all dead). Even though they are only 2/3rds through their training Trial, I doubt Van will have it easy.
Nyaki
After reading through some comments and reading through the chapter a few more times, I started thinking about Selen and how they usually declare Darcia’s death to the so-called ‘Peace Faction’ of Alda’s Faith. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t Heinz, Edgar and co. usually say that they decided to proclaim peace with Vida’s Races after witnessing the torture and execution of a Dark Elf Mother whose crime was bearing a Dhampir Child? I don’t think they’ve ever told anyone outside their party that they participated in the capture for the sake of having her executed, so I don’t think Selen knows that Heinz and Edgar are like the people who murdered her parents simply for giving birth to her, that they aren’t the just people who turned to the ‘Peaceful Faction’ after simply stumbling upon and witnessing the torture and execution of Darcia who never screamed nor begged for her life at all and refused to give them any information on her child in an attempt to protect her beloved son, Vandalieu.
I have to wonder though, if Selen truly doesn’t know that Heinz was actually involved in the execution of the Dark Elf he claims he was merely a witness to, then how will she react when she learns the truth and I wonder from where she’ll learn the truth. I also want to know if Selen will side with Vandalieu on this and perhaps move to Talosheim, maybe even become part of Vandalieu’s potential harem. On that thought I also wonder what a child born between a Dhampir (Human) and Dhampir (Goddess) would be.
Following the race change of Vandalieu from Dhampir (Dark Elf) to Dhampir (Goddess), that also bring the question of if Vandalieu is immortal now instead of his current estimated lifespan of 3,000-5,000 years. Since Vampires and Gods/Goddesses are Immortal and live forever unless killed. If so, I wonder how Vandalieu will find out his lifespan change and if he’ll gain any more Emperor titles like ‘Eternal Emperor.’ Within that lifespan I also want to know how many children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, wives and lovers he ends up with when all the conflict is over. I also want to know how many new races come about because of Vandalieu.
Speaking of love lives, I wonder how Borkus’s is going now that he can have kids again, perhaps Gopher will get some new siblings~ And I wonder if Kasim has his one true love and two other undead wives yet. Zeno’s love life is a concern of mine as well, I hope it is going well for him since Fester is married and Kasim last we knew of him was requested by his one true love to also take on two other undead wives so they can keep each other constant company.
Also!
Thank you very much for the chapter, please keep up these amazing translations, Yoshi~
Sebas Tian
Van’s race hasn’t actually changed, the bit to the side of Dhampir is just something that tells you who the non vampire parent is. Van didn’t physically change after his mother was revived as the incarnation of Vida. So Van’s lifespan hasn’t changed and he’s still a Dhampir born of a vampire and a Dark Elf, but now that Dark Elf is divine and the status gods updated his profile to reflect this change in his mother that has occurred. The undead animals are also the only ones that can make children right now as they’re still in the testing phase of the whole undead child making experiments.
TheTrueDeathGod
there is the possibility of the change in his life span based on the fact that the mysterious divine protection revealed more of the missing parts soon after. only gods can give divine protection after all. it is in the name divine meaning to be a god or god-like.

Thank you very much for the super quick chapter Yoshi!!!!!
Lord Rin
Oh I didn’t think we’d get another chapter so soon. I just visited the site randomly today and it said there was a new chapter translated.
I had just a tiny bit of hope that maybe Heinz would apologize and maybe be forgiven but nope. Heinz is just a hypocritical bastard racist. I hope that this new soul destruction fighting technique Van unlocked can break their souls and if not kill them then at least fuck them up big time.
Kazza
Damn.
Nothing I can really say. Great Chapter. Quick release. Little late to the update.
Just, damn.
I’ll be honest, I like Heinz. A fair bit. If not in character, than in concept. I thought he was just an unfortunate idiot, who tries to do the right thing but always made the same mistake of acting, not thinking.
But this…
First and foremost, what poor defenses of his actions. Oh, yeah, we’ve been repeatedly murdering your companions, but Alda told us to and they were undead, anyway.
‘Cept Iris and Co… But fuck ’em.
Did you amass the DK Fragments just for revenge against us?
Wow. Presumptuous, much? Yeah, Van’s been creating Undead just to kill you… Even though he’s been stronger than you for years and left you alone. Or do you think he’s had them for like, a day? And am I still the only one who remembers him trying to save the nose?
Don’t you know you’ve sent the Hartner Duchy into economic despair?
So? A king puts his castle ahead of his country. And that’s Van’s fault? If Lucas is killed in a coup, and replaced with a despot, is that Van’s fault, too? Why not make Lucas take responsibility for his policies?
You’ve damaged the Sauron Duchy with the Undead!
So… Again? The Undead don’t invade. We are explicitly told this. Heinz should know this. If anyone enters the territory, they need to be prepared to die if they fail. Just like any other Devil’s Nest.
You’re going to create a war between races!
Ok, that was Diana, but still. Like it’s been for fucking Millennia? Or do you think that just because you disagree with Van, every other human would, as well?
And finally, this gem:
“… So, this conversation was just to buy time after all. You have no intention of discussing this with us…!” Heinz muttered, his brow furrowed in a deep frown.
HE FUCKING TOLD YOU THIS.
“Shall we talk, then, if it’s alright with you? We both need some time before we can fight, don’t we?”
HE TOLD YOU HE PLANNED TO KILL YOU. DIRECTLY!
GAH!
Pardon the length. This Chapter’s been a bit of a roller coaster for me. Can’t wait for 201.
mexgema
I agree with everything you said here, especially the last part, like, Van literally told him and it’s just like… ugh why is he so stupid??? HOW is he so stupid??? The hypocrisy with this idiot is fucking ridiculous
unmellow
I agree with you but Heinz cannot leave this dungeon untell he clears all the floors
so he has no choice but to kill the fake iris I know I’m being nitpicky
but I wanted to mention that and
thanks for the great summary of everything wrong with Heinz (as a person not a character)
Sebas Tian
I will not pardon the length, I would prefer people get all their thoughts out like this. Makes it easier to understand how everyone’s feeling in regards to this chapter.
Kazza
Thanks, man. Hope everything’s going well with Tsuare.
Lui5aidh
It looked like Heinz was changing, then we get this chapter. Heinz hasn’t changed at all and instead it shows how much Van has matured. I regret having hope for Heinz, even if my expectations where very small for him, he let me down, more than I thought possible. AAARRRGGGHH IM SO MAD. Stupid, stubborn, racist d*ck.
Ozarazil
Well Van in reality is a 50+ year old kid if you take into acount his other lives. 16 on Earth, i believe almos 30 in Origin and 11 or something in Lambda. Something like that, in fact he’s older than Heinz who’ll just reach 30 years old in 2 years. It would be weird if his world views would still match that of a kid or a teen.
Randomreader
It was 20 in origin but yeah your point is still very well made
Sebas Tian
Van lived for 20 painful years on Origin, not 30.
Ozarazil
Wasn’t it 30? I believe the 20 years time period was from the momment they inabilitated his body wich they did when he was like 8 years old or something. Wasn’t it like that how it happened?
Sebas Tian
No it was 20 years total. They had him and have been doing experiments on him since before he could walk on his own.
JeKeBe
For a while there I was hoping that Heinz and crew would come to an understanding with Van and turn on Alda’s forces.
Not after this.
This chapter showed just how hypocritical Heinz and crew are. They automatically leapt to defend humans over Vida’s races, regardless of circumstances and didn’t even ASK about those circumstances. They showed a little discomfort here or there, sure, but that’s nothing compared to people getting murdered, dismembered, raped, enslaved, etc.
Now I only wait for Heinz to meet hell. Hopefully it’s next chapter, and at least one of his party members has their souls shattered.
gomezseba37
yeah i thought that van killing heinz would be like throw away all his character development but heinz is an idiot but what you can do if you live 30+ years of your life being thaught racist stuff you dont simpli just “change”
Rogal Dorn
After reading this conversation my usual calm was in perril. Heinz reasoning were really unreasonable.
I just thought: “Lesser pride limed by self rightousness…You are hero of nothing!”
Jonathan Hurd
Thank you so much for the chapter Yoshi. It was a real pick me up to be able to read this chapter so soon. Especially since this contains the long waited confrontation between Heinz and Van.
I gotta say though anyone else getting flash backs during this to Van’s conversation with Asagi. Both basically going on about how Van doesn’t understand the consequences of his actions when they are actually the ones who don’t have a clue. Both insist that he needs to stop using Death Attribute magic and leave the poor exploitative humans alone. I think Mage Masher and Heinz would get along very well in their stupidity.
Randomreader
I’m glad I’m not the only one having that flashback
Funky K
After re-reading the chapter I just realized that Heinz didn’t apologize for killing Darcia. You would think that would be the first thing he should do but instead he turns this into a F***ing interrogation.
Again thanks for the Chapter!
lazygeko
Not just no apology, they went with; “It was just a job. And it was her fault in the first place for breaking the law.”
Feniz
Yeah. It’s like they don’t feel guilty at all for killing Darcia yet they still use her death as an excuse for Alda peaceful faction. Heck they even adopt random damphir for that. Fucking hypocritical people
Morgan
I’m pretty sure Heinz said in a previous chapter that he would apologise if he met Vandalieu again. Also they need to tell themselves something so they can justify their murders. Although Heinz may not entirely be a hypocrite. Alda’s blessing, the great hero’s destiny, could be interfering with Heinz’s mind making him a loyal puppet for Alda. Kinda like Van’s Encroachment skill.
Wsteven7o7
Provably not since is not confirm and even if it was from Van pov he cannot be forgiven
VEreality
Ok, I waited a bit to see how would you guys react to this chapter. The new meme of this novel aside, you guys had the same reaction as I did. However, I think that what I am going to say is going to make some people think I am stupid….but……until this moment I had a little bit of fate in Heinz. I never thought that he was going to redeem himself but I have told myself:
‘He did what he did because he didn’t know better. Maybe he will come to realise his mistakes before his last battle with Vandalieu and he will die like a man, accepting his punisment’
And then this chapter came (Thank you Yoshi!). And I am like(excuse my language):
‘Oh my fucking god! I had fate in a fucking undercover Alda fanatic, short minded, racist, retarded idealist that can’t realise how the real world works!’
Van however did better than I expected at keeping his anger in check. GG Vandalieu. And hopefully rip Heinz in the next chapter.
Jonathan Hurd
I don’t think you can be blamed for having hope for Heinz. If it was hope for Roidiot though I would be concerned for you. Heinz always seemed to express some guilt. Problem is that he is just like the hypo critic god he follows. Both of them made terrible choices and mistakes, but are unable to admit it to themselves or others. So they double down on the mistakes over and over again.
To me I think Heinz is drunk on the praise of being called a crusader of Alda’s peaceful faction and also trying to avoid his own feelings of guilt by using that praise. As Van pointed out Heinz hasn’t actually accomplished anything for Vida’s races. Compare what Heinz has done to what Schnieder has accomplished.
They both started in a similar position as low rank adventures that worshiped Alda and then had a crisis of faith after something happened involving Vida’s races. Both even started to question Alda’s current choices. The difference then was Schnieder actually went and started helping. Schnie worked in the shadows and got true change done. While Heinz is standing on his self righteous pedestal patting himself on the back for being a great guy while doing absolutely nothing to help.
I think the biggest difference between Schnieder and Heinz though is in relation to Vandalieu’s moms death. Schnieder had no direct hand in her death, but that didn’t stop him and his whole party from bowing their heads and apologizing for not being there to help. Compare that to Heinz and his team. They not only refuse to apologize for being one of the leading causes of it, but just keep bringing excuse after excuse as to why they shouldn’t be blamed. Add to this the fact that they then even used Darcia’s death to increase their popularity and make a heroic tale.
At the end of the day I think Heinz isn’t completely evil or bad. He is just another misguided fool like Alda who is too afraid to admit their own fault so they will keep inflicting damage and hurt on others. After doing that they will then turn around and try to make up some kind of justification for their terrible actions so they can keep being ‘Good’.
Kazza
That, among everything else, is why I am Uber-Salty Selen hasn’t been given appropriate screen time. Does she know what Heinz did? Some evidence points to yes, some to no. I want to see that conflict. I want to see him try and keep it quiet, to remain the hero she sees him as, only for Van to rip it apart right before his eyes.
God, the salt.
Darkhelios
I don’t think Selen knows about Heinz&cie’s past.
After all, the “tragic tale of Darcia’s death” didn’t mention that Heinz&his party participated in the quest and captured the mother of a dhampir in order to let her get tortured and be killed.
The tale was simply that they ” witnessed the tragedy of a certain Dhampir and his mother”.
And if they decided to keep their previous actions a secret in order to improve this “tale” for their own profit, I highly doubt that they will even tell her the truth, that they were also hunting dhampir(s) in the past.
gomezseba37
the comparison between schneider and heinz its great the fact that schneider stopped and thought for a second what he was doing saved him of becoming an hypochritical maniac like heinz for fk sake he didnt even apologize for killing darcia even if he had a “justification” he shoudve at leas apologized
Lord Rin
Yeah I don’t blame you. I also had a little tiny bit of hope for Heinz but not anymore.
Turns out Heinz is like one of those “nice” racists that are like, “Oh killing such-and-such people is bad.” But as soon as something happens like their kid marries or dates one then they’re all like, “Know your place. How dare you have the audacity to do this to my kind.”
I mean look, Heinz is angry because the taxes went up in those two duchies. He doesn’t even care that the Scyllas and Titans were being oppressed or exploited and enslaved. God forbid the humans have higher taxes because Van helped the Scyllas and Titans.
Heinz is also a hypocrite that is only using being in the peaceful faction to make himself look good. He uses the story of Darcia’s death to make people think he’s a good person who feels remorse and has turned over a new leaf but here he doesn’t even apologize to Van for what he did and even says that it couldn’t be helped because Darcia broke the law and he was just doing his job. He adopts a dhampir and uses her as a symbol for the peaceful faction. He’s also more or less their spokesman but so far him and his group haven’t done anything as Van points out in this chapter. I had hope that his heart was in the right place and that he truly wanted to help Vida’s races to atone for what he did. I think part of that sentiment was because I grossly misunderstood a past event involving Heinz. I had it pointed out to me when I was looking through the TV tropes of this series. The event was the one where Selen was targeted by Alda extremists and Edgar and Heinz show up to save her before they do anything. I had initially read it as just a random event and that Edgar and Heinz just coincidentally happened to come by to stop it. Evidently instead Heinz was using Selen as bait to draw out Alda extremists so he could give them some token admonishment and turn them over to the authorities who just give them a slap on the wrist as their punishment before letting them go. Meanwhile people would think Heinz and his group are so great for stopping Alda extremists from targeting a dhampir and supposedly remonstrating them and leading them to better themselves. Also from Edgar’s words, that wasn’t the only time they used Selen as bait. And they may have purposely let Selen’s parents die before Heinz swooped in to save and take custody of her since they had seemed to have gotten prior information about Selen’s family being targeted but didn’t move out until Selen’s parents wouldn’t be able to survive.

What an amazing pivotal chapter for the series. As the 200th chapter we’re given a well needed conversation between Van and Heinz which shows off how Van has grown as a character as time has gone by. Death Mage may be a power fantasy isekai, but it is really engaging in its own right.
Lui5aidh
This has so much clarification on just how much Van has grown up whilst also showing that Heinz is a stubborn idiot who won’t change his views for anything. Its even more annoying since they show he’s smart enough to understand what’s going on yet he still pushes his views on other people and acts all righteous, even act like a know it alllllllll.

So its fine if vida’s races are wrongly imprisoned and forced to work in a slave mine women and children included and its also fine if they are raped or killed to sell their body parts also women and children but God forbid taxes rise really Heinz really
kagemao
He’s seriously blaming Van for the Sauron duchy trying to conquer Scylla territory and failing.
Van could’ve mentioned the refugees he’d taken in from both incidents, but I understand that he is just trying to get their motives and not win them over. I don’t think any Alda religion that says Alda has claim to the life element should be acknowledged by Van’s empire anyway.
Funky K
UNLEASH THE KRAKEN!!! wait I mean, Thanks for the chapter!!! So Heinz, you think that the economy is more important than children being sexually abused in a mine? He can tolerate the pedo’s but god forbid if the taxes rise. Right…. and I like how Van had to repeat himself on the fact that he is NOT an ally of Ternecia and Gubamon but Heinz still asks him why he’s “conspired with Vampires who worship evil gods”.
They’re also making a stink about Van potentially causing a war but….so what? Vandalieu is the ruler of his own nation and gets to decide what the law of his own land is. No other country has the right to tell them what’s right and wrong, and if they try to force them, that’s justification for Van to fight. As quoted by Van:
“In the end, what determines what is white and what is black in this world is power. The authority of kings and nobles, the will of the people, the violence that overrides these. Whether hatred is justified or not, if there is enough power to eliminate those who would oppose it and carry it out using force, then that’s enough. With that being the case, my unjustified hatred is just as valid as the way you people oppressed Dhampirs and the other races created by Vida,”(chapter 166).
So it’s kind of strange for Heinz and co to be criticizing Van for causing conflict when they only solve their problems though violence too. Anyways big thanks to Yoshi for the quick translations!! Can’t wait to see some well deserved woopass.

The races has been at war for 100,000 years because of Alda. Just because the losing side finally has a chance to fight back doesn’t mean its a new thing, Heinz! My only regret is that there doesn’t seem to be a Hell where the souls of murderers go to. Here’s to hoping that karma is a thing there and you pay for your sins in the next life

It would interesting if all the souls that van devours retain their egos and suffer inside of his stomach becoming Lambda’s official Hell.

Seriously,Heinz?
Taxes?
Fucking taxes?
Is that the best argument you have? You could’ve achieved so much for both sides in this conversation and yet you ended up with this?
I had so little expectations from you and yet you still managed to go lower than that. It’s almost as if you intentionally fucked this up or something.
lazygeko
It just shows the value he assigns to things. To him, raising the taxes and making the ‘people’s’ lives slightly worse is more of a problem than having a noble betray an ally nation, murder their nobles, enslave their people for 200 years and cover it all up. Also, Heinz obviously only treats those on his side as ‘people.’
Well I doubt he could have achieved anything since the most basic price for reconciliation, the base demands of each side cannot be even considered by the other. For Van, their death and the acknowledging of his undead as individual entities is the basics. And I know Heinz wouldn’t agree with either. But it doesn’t even look like Heinz tried. At least a; “I’m sorry for getting your mom killed.” It wouldn’t change anything, but justifying it every time just means, even you, edgar, think you did a bad.
Nox
Thanks for the chapter
Oh man what a chapter. Not only is Van more mature now but we know now that Heinz is still like how he used to be, doing things without thinking it through and still brag about it. But in the next chapter he will be gone without even causing Vans main body to move. So much for Aldas plan in making Heinz strong enough to fight against Van but has to watch how he will be killed.

No. If Heinz and co are fighting with true body they would truly be dead. It’s only because they are fighting with their spirit form that they can always resurrect in dungeon. Otherwise they would be truly dead if they fight Van with their true body
gomezseba37
its their souls in the dungeon thats why they can die so many times but vans atacks destroy souls so they are fked if the soul its destroyed the main body becomes a living doll if i remeber correctly with his vital functions active but no one inside
Randomreader
Correct remember parvina (I know for a fact I misspelled the name sorry) before the pseudo reincarnation was an empty human body with no souls inside living but not truly alive
Sebas Tian
Except Soul Destruction means that it doesn’t matter if Heinz’s body is fake, his death will still be very real if Van is the one that gives it to him.
Nobody2
Heinz is like one of Those “nice racists” he “totally has no problem with African Americans being free and having jobs or getting money” but if they talk back to him or try to use the whites pool or be friends with or marry his kids then they need to remember their damn places.
Metazoxan
basically yeah. To put it in other words Heinz apparently values Vida’s races somewhere between humans and house pets.
He’s basically like PETA. He wants to help and protect Vida’s races only because he sees killing them for no reason as cruel and not because he sees it as the same as killing humans.
So while he’ll defend them when it’s convenient he’ll turn a blind eye to enslaved titains because the local duchy relies on slave labor to bolster it’s economy and won’t save the scylla because he’d have to kill human armies to do it.
So the livelyhood and well being of humans is more important that the lives and rights of Vida’s races.
SaMu
Yeah the nice racists and the nice sexists, who says “we should forgive the white males for the wrong things their forefathers did a hundred years ago. It’s not like they asked to be born to whiteness or masculinity. At least they’re not ginger.” Yay for equal opportunity for all races!
Azeroth
Ah the sweet release of a proper translation the raw suck
Sebas Tian
The MTL sucks, not the raw.
ZeroX1
first thing wow just wow
*to us, the parents in worlds that we’re reincarnated in are just victims of our brood parasitism,” the ‘Odin’ Akira Hazamada said*
wow what a jackass so what you saying your 2nd parents who raise you and take care you love you and educate is mean nothing sins they not you’re real parents
one again wow what fucking jackass hope our lord kill him and Murakami too and eat his soul
the 2nd thing is Heinz +Alda’s peaceful faction is 100% bullshit >:(
the only thing i think it going to happen is they life as 2nd class citizen or worst slave or the race die a slow death
ReikoLupus
And Heinz had his Soul destroyed.
The End.
Easykiln
Some pretty harsh commentary on moderate civil rights groups. I agree with it though. There’s a limit to change that refuses to damage the interests of the oppressor in any way.
SaMu
Moderate? Don’t you mean mediocre? Why be a civil rights group when the methods chosen does nothing of value and you don’t put yourself in any risk? Political bullshit, methinks
Seinvolf
Thank u always for ur great work…
^^…
Bob, Son of Bob
After seeing Heinz try to justify himself to one of his victims I’ve come to the conclusion that his “peaceful” faction of Alda worshipers are no better than the extremists. They still believe in the disgusting and deluded tenets of an odious, self-righteous racist of a god. They still believe in and participate in genocide while spouting pretty words about coexistence and peace.
They’re rank hypocrites and they deserve no sympathy from anyone.
Metazoxan
Their idea of co-existance is “allowing” vida’s races to life. Like it’s a gift rather than a right.
Bob, Son of Bob
Yup. If you’re not human you can look forward to slavery, brutality, treachery and exploitation. But hey, they don’t believe you should be exterminated! Isn’t that kind? Isn’t that merciful? How can you not weep upon seeing such gentle, compassionate souls?
Lui5aidh
Alda’s attitude to Vida’s races is like he’s a child who’s sister is trying to play with him but her toys just mess up his game so he’s constantly trying to break them, whilst vida just loves her brother and wants all the toys to be happy together. Except Vida actually sees them as living people not things.
Superboy8338
That is a pretty damn accurate metaphor.
Supreme king
THing is though vida didn’t have permission to buy .org in this case make those toys but the new made them anyway now Alda is being stubborn cuz she went against the rule she honestly I can’t see this as anything but a sibling quarrel And that pisses me off that they’re BOTH at fault for this and it’s cause of them innocents are dying
Darkhelios
Well… To be honest, Heinz&cie already showed their hypocrisy before. During their first meeting with Van, an adventurer talked about the “tale of Darcia’s death”.
And apparently “someone” (Heinz&cie) decided to change the truth a liiiiiiiiiiittle bit. After all, the tale was that “Heinz witnessed the tragedy of a certain Dhampir and his mother” and decided to change country.
The tale didn’t mention that Heinz directly helped to capture Darcia, delivered her in order to let her be tortured and killed.
Moridin
well, to be somewhat fair, who tells others who don’t know the truth the worst parts of your story, vs a more positive for you version of events. And at least Heinz seemed to expect her to just be interrogated and silently killed (given his reaction at the ‘celebratory dinner’ afterwards). Instead, she was handed over to a fanatic and was obviously tortured, and then burned alive at the stake publicly. Now, he didn’t stop it at any point (though, not sure what point he knew about it after handing her over), and likely it was only that he was forced to confront the brutality that he enabled instead of it just happening ‘off screen’ for him that caused him to have this crisis of faith of his.
Darkhelios
If he truly wanted to repent, he could have say the truth about his “tale”. It doesn’t mean that he had to tell all details. Just that he was “involved” and that, because he “regretted his actions”, he decided to go to another country in order to start again, to change.
By not doing that and by tampering with the tale, by saying that he only witnessed the scene, he only showed that he was just running away from his actions. Not “repenting himself”. Not “changing”. Just running away.
Considering their personalities/actions, the one who suggested this change was probably Edgar as he’s always trying to justify their actions with a “We didn’t do anything bad! It was just a job.”
And little correction for the second part of your message, Heinz didn’t decide to change because of the brutality of Darcia’s death. He decided to change because Darcia’s actions showed him that she was just a mother trying to defend her son no matter the cost, refusing to reveal his location even while being tortured.
So I believe we could say that this brutality was something expected+accepted when used against a “Witch” or a servant of the Evil Gods. The fact that she was just a mother protecting her child, show him that their actions were unjust.
no1
Heinz and his other two companions don’t see anything wrong with their role in Darcia’s death :(. The long waited confrontation/fight, excited to see what happens in the next chapter 🙂
Jago
I don’t see any comment about that, but:
*** Chapter 200! ****
Thanks and keep up the good work.
lazygeko
Heinz came up with the least convincing arguments I’ve ever heard. Honestly, never liked his two-faced self. I especially like every time they come out with: “We worship and follow the gods.” as an excuse. After all… 4 or the major gods are on Vans side vs. one Alda. If I know anything about numbers 4 is bigger than 1. Even if you take away Vida and Zantark who they think are both mad, there is still 2 that support Van, not that anyone but the gods would believe it.
I feel Van will spare the 2 extras, after all, they aren’t involved and seem to actually care that they were going on genocidal rampages up to this point.
bk3k
Keep in mind human society only knows the will of gods via very limited oracles they can receive. So they have a hard time knowing/understanding the circumstances of the gods. And IIRC those other gods (besides Vida) that you’re thinking of are staying silent currently. They aren’t trying to tip off that they’re taking Vida’s side. Some of their subordinate gods are helping to maintain the world.
To human society, Alda is the leader of the gods besides Vida (they aren’t counting evil gods that switched to Vida). Thus Alda’s will is the will of the Gods – from their perspective. You’re opinion is based upon knowledge you can’t expect them to possess. A meta-judgement.
lazygeko
There was a previous chapter where Zuwawarn and Ricklent are discussing how their followers were doing after receiving a divine message to the effect of joining Vida. They have unique followers. But you are right. That is why I wasn’t judging them on their ignorance but laughing at it while knowing their arguments are dumb. As time with show them.
SaMu
I still am.hoping Van gives Farmaun that 100 soul-breaking punches he rightfully deserves
lazygeko
I don’t want him to die. He is the one of the few in the story that saw he messed up and not only repented, but also is trying to make up for it and correct his mistake with future actions. Unlike Bellwood who covers his mistake and pushes onward. Or Nineroad who finds the mistake but figures it is too late now. Or Heinz, who felt something was wrong but continued on anyways, he’ll fix it later…probably.
Randomreader
Heinz will never fix his mistakes his soul will shatter first
Chaotic
Lol battle done. Even if Curatos saves their souls they are still damaged. Proof is Van awakened soul destruction fighting. You don’t get exp without using said skill.
Diggydawg
Sweet! Van gets to practice killing Heinz & Co.
xtremeloldude
time for Heinz to learn how much faster vandalieu’s strength increased compared to his
thanks for the chapter
Darkhelios
In the end, Heinz couldn’t accept Vandalieu’s Undeads. Well, I already expected that. After all, he had an unique skill against Undeads (and it seems that he managed to upgrade it).
Even if he had some suspicions, he chose to not apply his good “Alda’s peaceful faction” teachings on Ghouls nor Majins. He just chose to obey what X told him and didn’t even care to check the truth. X told him that a peaceful village of Vida races attacked them? “Let kill them all! …Oh… They didn’t do anything…? Oops. X was a bad guy! But we won’t do anything against him or else other people might suffer.”
gomezseba37
schneider in his infinite wisdom whe he was with alda stopped for a moment and thought “what the f am i doing” and he was saved of becoming like heinz
Ozarazil
Hmm i don’t know how to feel about this. I had wished for a confrontation of ideas that would crush Heinz’s spirit but instead the constant missunderstandings (a pretty annoying trope in manga and anime) seemed to have given him a “reason” to seriously want to fight Vandal.
I know Vandal couldn’t reveal much information but he at least could’ve talked about how much of a mad hound Alda is, or about how his undead have feelings and emotions or about the shameless hypocricy that is the basis of Alda’s peacefull faction.
I hope this exchanges ocur in more depth in the battle, i mean what’s a hero (Heinz) without a moral struggle? Although i doubt Vandal’s words would reach Heinz. In this brief exchange he looked too selfrighteous (I mean he totally thinks that the titans and the scyllas should’ve remained as they were for the sake of those duchys).
He seems to conveniently ignore that Vandal lives in a world that is out to get him killed in every corner.
That last skill Vandal aquired, i remember Falmaund saying that “he doesn’t want to endure 100 hundred soul shatering strikes from Vandal” that that would be too much for him to handle haha
Thanks to this angels on earth for this donations, are there any oother angels around? I mean i would totally do it but my venezuelan ass has no money D:
Jago
I agree.
I get how hard is for Heinz and friends to accept it, as it goes against a life of religious indoctrination. And some heavy conditioning within 65 levels of a dungeon.
At the same time, Vandalieu is hardly the best person to explain that. A lot of secrets he doesn’t wand divulge, a different mindset and all that.
There are potentials. Almost certainly Curatos will try to close the dungeon and eject the Five colored blades before they die. If that works, the seed of doubt has been planted, and maybe it will grow in time.
Hopefully, Van Demon Guidance will play his part on that, too.
I would really like it if the story moves in that direction, but it is hardly probable.
Thanks for the chapter.
Ozarazil
Can a guider be guided? I think Jennifer has the potential to be NTRguided by Vandal, she seems to have realised something she didn’t wanted to…
gomezseba37
yeah if heinz had the same reactions to vans words as jennifer he couldve still be redeemed but he proved that he is so hypocrytical that is imposibble
Loki
Van has no interest in arguing their ideas, he just wanted to buy time so that he could start killing them in a optimal way.
Ozarazil
No well, now i know that. This was just what i wanted to see. From the start, whenever Heinz showed up he was framed as this virtuous shounen protagonist, i just wanted some wit, some “shounen protag trope destruction” hahaha
bk3k
Well without giving spoilers, let me assure you that you’ll be more satisfied with future chapters.
Ozarazil
Great, you just made waiting even harder, are you a demon or something? Haha
Lui5aidh
Heinz has yet to meet the formidable Darcia, who’s existence alone is enough to cause a moral dilemma, never mind her actually having a conversation with him.
gomezseba37
she is the incarnation of vida SHE is vida because she has the god fussion skill and i think thats overpowered as fk
Soundwave
Ty for your hard work everyone 🙂 I can’t wait for next chapter I have a general gist of what happened but machine translations made it difficult to see what was actually going on at times
bk3k
Yes MTs are really painful much of the time. You have to do a lot of guessing/inserting of meaning with regards to the context that you do know.
It would be even worse without having read as many well translated chapters as a basis. It is much more satisfying to reread this after being translated properly, even if I mostly know how it goes already.
Terumi
Ah yes the Alda peaceful faction simply allowing the oppression to continue based on humanity’s wishes
bk3k
Their worldview is based upon the faith of Alda worship, rather than observation and rational analysis of the world around them. Humans are also social learners – we simply absorb what we where taught as children.
The exception to this was them learning from their experience with Darcia, thus causing their worldview to diverge just a little bit from doctrine. And Van just exposed to them how limited their “revolutionary thinking” really is. They haven’t thought about any of this. They never posed the question. And props to the author as this is very believable human behavior.
It may be interesting to apply this to your own life. Make a list of “common sense” that you “know.” How do you really know that’s true? How can you test it to verify it? You’ll probably find quite a few things you never thought to question. And a few things that can’t really hold up to scrutiny/critical analysis.
At the same time, being told or finding out that we might be wrong is deeply uncomfortable and our minds strongly resist accepting this. And when others tell us we’re wrong, it activates the part of the brain that responds to threats – even though we’re merely talking about information rather than any sort of physical harm.
Humans are naturally quite irrational creatures.
Caos
I wonder, will alda and all the other gods of aldas faction atack him? He is in a dungeon that is accesible for them after all
Demonicmuffin
The question then would be, what happens to the demon king fragments he has? Either they come out in the dungeon and stick to Heinz and his party who are already S rank adventures and thus would be extremely powerful, or even worse, the gods themselves. If it comes out of his body then you have a bunch of fragment infested monsters showing up in the middle of a city and who have shown they like to stick together, which is probably too much for Heinz and crew to handle all at once. They have no way of knowing how that would play out.
Additionally, they have to maintain the world, and there would undoubtedly be injuries or deaths from the various sub gods and even the big ones probably wouldn’t come out unscathed. They are short on manpower as is.
That’s not even mentioning the numerous nations in the mountain boundary range and dark continent and numerous gods and evil gods on his side that would retaliate.
Ozarazil
This are not the original demon king fragments but Curatos’s replicas from his memories. What we should be worried about is Vandal making Heinz stronger by fighting him… well that if their souls manage to avoid being destroyed.
Sebas Tian
This is a fake body for Van too, so he suffers no consequence by dying. Where as Heinz and co can be soul broken without dying and thus they can suffer the big consequence.
TheTrueDeathGod
the fragments have fused with his soul so the will not leave him even after death and right now it is his real soul about to fight him
Umbra000
Does donating speed up the translation or just put it on queue?
Soundwave
I believe it puts it on queue but thats just my guess
Yoshi
The queue is constantly 4-8 chapters deep, the limiting factor is the time I have available to translate
secretweeb420
So how is it heinz and his companions are looking directly at vandalieu’s soul when even people within the boundary mountain range like godwin couldn’t? Should I assume this isn’t his full soul form? Thanks for the fast chapter.
Ozarazil
I thiink so, his full soul’s body is as tall as a building and is a lovecraftian horror that would induce madness upon who sees it haha i think he’s just working with what he has
Chaotic
Van did say it was his most primal form. Unlike pure soul form(giant and monsterous), primal form seems to be soul given flesh probably his most powerful but draining state as well.
gomezseba37
they dont have mental corruption after all if van learns how to materalize his soul he could defeat them just by standing in front of them
Supreme king
Primal means it’s very raw state so this is his soul at full power
zarroc
But the TAXEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
Loki
That’s the true evil Van committed
Ozarazil
Argument level: “Can sombody think of the children?”
Darkhelios
TAXEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! It’s obviously Vandalieu’s fault!
The Duchy had to build a new fort in order to defend against Vandalieu who can easily wipe it from the map! And how dares he to free people who were unfairly accused and enslaved!
Moridin
i’m really hoping he meant more like “you could’ve saved them differently so that at worst only the ruling families suffered instead of making it so all of the peasants are suffering too” rather than “you should’ve left it alone so no one was put out”. Cause otherwise, yeah…
adabana
thank you for the chapter.
me in middle of reading his chapter
me:take that heinz and the members of the peaceful hypocrite doucebag faction
me by at the end of the chapter
me:no
me:NO!
me:NOOOOOO!!!
me:NOT A CLIFF!!!!!!!
Devimon
Some “PEACEFUL FACTION” they are. What a double standard BS and hypocricy.
Loki
This is the peaceful faction of Alda which means that they will not commit genocide to every race that is not part of humanity
Ozarazil
While slaugthering first and asking questions after, so peacfull hahaha
Darkhelios
Well… They will still commit genocide if someone decides to tell them a single lie. After all, they won’t bother to check their information…
For example, a lord wants to take over the territory of another race? Just need to tell Alda “Peaceful” faction that this race attacked first and everything will be “fine”.
Want to enslave them? Fine.
Want to keep the women as sex slaves? Fine.
Want to kill everyone? Fine.
Plundering the deads? Fine.
Want to free people who were unjustly condemned/enslaved? …NOT FINE AT ALL!! TAXEEEEEEEES!!!!!!
kuraba susumu
this is why you should not try playing hero without fully understanding the side you are trying to protect
you will just do more harm than good
Stark
HO NO PLEASE DON’T DO THAT TRANSLATOR NOOOOOO !!!! I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPEN NEXT AND YOU TELL ME I HAVE YET TO WAIT …
seriously please don’t tell we’ll have to wait 2 weeks after a cliffanger like that … ?
appart from that thanks for the trnaslating you’re doing a great job so thank you very much for translating that amazing novel !
Jago
No, you haven’t to wait for 2 weeks.
We will have to wait for a month.
Feniz
Lmao
Lucian
Thanks for the chapter!
Time for Curatos to change his underwear!
Ozarazil
Curatos is currently googling like a madman: “what to do when the new born god of death infiltrates your RPG?”
Darkhelios
Right now, the only answer he managed to find, was to “GiT GuD”.
Randomreader
Did he try turning the dungeon off (ejecting all souls within) and then on again (summoning heinz’s party back in)
gomezseba37
he tried restarting vans copy which is the equivalent of hitting the red x on skype
Loki
Van.exe has stopped responding. Goodbye
Randomreader
So he didn’t reset the dungeon
Ryuu-kun
When you realize that Vandalieu could reenact the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki all by himself. And no one could actually stop him if he tries to do so.
Darkhelios
If he really wanted to, he could easily recreate the Black Death (several hundred million of deaths) and use the corpses as soldiers against those who are still alive… or even send them into safe area in order to spread the plague even more. By killing Alda’s believers, Alda’s faction would also become quite weak.
Iblis
he could create something that lets the black death look like a joke and kill with it any living being on the planet below b or c grade in less than a week or he could create it but it will only kill with his signal so he can take the entire world hostage
gomezseba37
whe he defended thalosheim he created a disease taht worked within seconds if he does a skill like taht but lethal and he mades it so it propagues quickly without effect and in a month or something it activates lambads humanity will be doomed in a year
Mossy Stone
More than that, he could create a small sun that would fry the entire continent! (In the “conversation” with Asagi).
Niemand
i think that was only if he had fire mana.
Sebas Tian
The point was more that with the total amount of mana he has, it wouldn’t matter what attribute of magic he has access to as he’d be able to do an incredible amount of damage with it. The attribute being death doesn’t make it worse than if Van had access to any other.
Supreme king
That’s why he has princess levia he just hasn’t to beef her up enough in fact it dosent matter he can just make his mana a bit hot if he can do that and he will have the sameness results lol
Rifaman
Thanks for the update joining F5 sect really serve me well.
This must be culture shock for Heinz and his party and i kinda hope they at least having some middle ground, but Heinz and his faction is useless and war is inevitable after all.
frozen ink
ALSO THANK U SO MUCH FOR THIS CHAP
its still a cliff but its way more manageable
frozen ink
…… damn… so this is what a racist says when they aren’t being racist ….. THINK OF ALL THE PEOPLE THAT GOT TROUBLED!!! , when think about the hundreds of years of suffering of countless living beings those people oppressed ~ ….
damn and here i was thinking that they were actually doing something good…… never meet your heroes kids … its often disappointing … unless ur brain dead
Jago
Catthulu?
They have taken a step. It all depend if they stop there or are capable to make the other 99.
Randomreader
My hero is van so I don’t think I’d be disappointed if I meet him
frozen ink
well if u have to rationalize it van has basically gone soo insane that he got his sanity back so im fairly sure van is relatively twisted dont get me wrong he’s a nice guy but chances are there will be things that u will never see eye to eye on like … a shota face with a buff body is terrifying
Randomreader
My expectations if I meet van.
Terrified out of my mind, in pure awe of power, probably taller than I imagined then again we are all used to him being a child
Thk
the chat wasn’t JUST buying time, it was also a chance at redemption for them, they failed.
Loki
Did you miss the part where Van said that he would definitely kill them.
Redemption was never a factor.
Sebas Tian
Well they had a chance to at least redeem the peaceful faction, but they ruined that spectacularly.
Metazoxan
exactly. They showed Van the “peacful’ faction’s true face. That they defend Vida’s races ONLY at their own convenience.
Like the same way you’d defend cows or chickens. Yeah slaughtering them needlessly is cruel…. but if stopping it will make humans starve or be troubled then it’s not worth it.
Bzn
If only i could watch someone say that to heinz’s face so i can see his reaction
Ozarazil
I think there’s no redemtion for them regardless of what they do. No matter if Darcia revived, no matter if they adopted some random damphir, the fact they ganged up on Darcia and handed her over to a group of fanatics that tortured her and burned her alive at the stake remains unchanged.
This happened and nothing will erase this events from history and from his memory since he saw everything through Darcias memories. That’s a “im the edgy avenger creator event right there haha
bk3k
Yeah Darcia’s revival changes nothing. A thief isn’t forgiven just because you earned more money afterwards.
lazygeko
He said it. He isn’t killing them because of what they did, but because of what they plan to/could do in the future. They are people with power that stand opposite him in a conflict and have a past of taking away those precious to him.
gomezseba37
he said he is going to kill the original 5 blades and said before that he would trie to convince the other two new members
Clyde
Thanks so much for the chapter! I’m excited to see what happens next! 🙂
Doom
PRAISE VAN-SAMA, AS HE PROCEEDS TO ANNIHALATE ALL OF HIS ENEMIES! THE SACRED MESSAGE TODAY IS:
Heinz, prepare to be terminated! Murakami! Wait in line!
Soundwave
Yes Doom is back finally!!! yay
ZeroX1
man, it really not the same i want the old pope Doom the one with neptunia profile 🙁
Randomreader
Praise the van
Sebas Tian
Hope everyone enjoys this chapter.
Loki
This is a really fun chapter.
Heinz and his party gets verbally murdered and now it is time to do it to the soul.
Thk
as i recall the bodies they are fighting with are actually copies, so the gods will probably like yeet the souls when the moment they realize that danger is present, what with van’s body having gone way off the rails and basically stating he had transcended the copy.
Loki
Well if Curatos were to remove Heinz and his party then Van can just spend his time destroying the dungeon.
Rifaman
Well regardless Van successfully devour Heinz co soul or not at least this is the end of the trial and Curatos will die.
kuraba susumu
i’m late to commenting because i reread this chapter several times
it’s just that good
thank you for the chapter
Terumi
Thank you and yoshi for all the hard work
akatsuki kuranashi
i was woundering maybe u can make it so the comments wont be shown always cause its about 50% of the page total length and its a bit annoying
