Immediately after Vandalieu acquired the ‘Demiurge’ Job.
“… We can assume from the Skill’s name that its effect is similar to ‘Familiar Spirit Descent.’ But we can’t use it in real battle until we confirm whether that is the case, how much of an effect it has and how long it lasts,” Isla said logically.
She saw Eleanora and Bellmond off as they rushed back to where Vandalieu was, and closed her eyes to pray.
“‘Familiar Spirit Demonfall,’ activate!” she shouted.
Something that sounded like a groan echoed out, and something that could only be described as a black light erupted at her feet.
The black light then fused with her body as if being absorbed, and a voice echoed in the back of her mind.
“Did you call me, Isla?”
It was the voice of her master, Vandalieu.
“Vandalieu-sama?! I expected one of Vandalieu-sama’s familiar spirits to come, but Vandalieu-sama himself is inside me?!” Isla exclaimed in surprise.
“Strictly speaking, I am not the real me,” the voice said. “I am one of the small mes that you and the others created from the leftover fragments during the reconstruction of my soul. Well, think of me as something like a familiar spirit. Not that I know much about ordinary familiar spirits other than the sensation and flavor they had when I destroyed them.”
Normally, familiar spirits summoned by those who possessed the ‘Familiar Spirit Descent’ Skill were made of the Mana of the god that had created them, so their individual wills were faint. Thus, even after they descended, they would almost never have conversations with the ones who had summoned them.
But as one would expect from a clone that was made from a fragment of Vandalieu’s soul, it was able to converse with Isla.
“Incidentally, everything I know will be passed on to the real me once the Demonfall is undone, so be careful about any secrets that you might want to keep,” the clone added.
Like the Demon King Familiars, the clone was a part of Vandalieu.
“A secret, from Vandalieu-sama?! Please feel free to look upon my heart as much as you wish… If you desire, you may look at all of me!” Isla declared.
“… I can’t read your memories and thoughts,” the clone told her. “But I can hear you when you speak to me with your internal voice like this, and I experience everything you see or hear for the duration of the Demonfall.”
“I see,” Isla said in a disappointed tone, but her liveliness returned again immediately. “But just the thought of becoming one with you like this makes me feel as if there is unlimited power coursing through me, Vandalieu-sama!”
“That’s the effect of ‘Familiar Spirit Demonfall.’ The power isn’t unlimited, so be wary of that. And with the Skill at Level 1, it will only last a few minutes,” the clone said.
“Ah, to think that you would continue your explanation so seriously… You are so cold,” Isla lamented. “But that is…!”
“I don’t really think that I’m being cold. I am explaining things in detail because I thought that’s what is best for you.”
Isla had thought things through logically and decided upon what she needed to know before testing the Skill. That wasn’t wrong of her, and the familiar spirit that had descended upon her had thought to do the same thing.
That was why it had used the precious few minutes it had to explain the Skill.
“Vandalieu-sama, you are thinking about me?!” Isla breathed.
“Yes, I am,” said the clone, not denying her despite the fact that she had taken his words with a slightly different nuance. “Now then, maybe we should try moving your body around a little. Try some practice swings with your sword.”
“Of course,” Isla said excitedly.
She unsheathed her sword and began moving her body, pretending that there was an enemy present. Her head was totally blank and her chest was throbbing so hard that it was difficult to believe that her heart wasn’t actually beating, but her movements were sharp.
To those watching, Isla’s movements appeared to be a complete combat demonstration… though Isla herself likely thought of this as a dance with Vandalieu.
But this dream-like time would inevitably come to an end.
“Time is up, so I will be leaving,” said the familiar spirit as it left Isla and disappeared.
“No, wait! Don’t go, Vandalieu-sama!” Isla cried tragically, feeling like she had lost more than the bonus to her Attribute Values.
“There, there, I’m back,” said Vandalieu, who had returned from the Job-changing room.
“Ah, Vandalieu-sama in the flesh!” Isla said, immediately recovering from her shock.
“Umm, don’t worry about her, everyone. She hasn’t lost her mind. You don’t have to be scared of her,” Vandalieu explained to the subordinate Vampires who had been watching.
“That’s right. She was talking to herself, fighting with an invisible enemy, blurting out weird things and breaking down into tears, so it can’t be helped if you thought she’d gone insane, but don’t worry,” said Eleanora.
Vestra looked terrified that she would become like Isla as well one day, and Seris was trying to comfort her.
The voices of familiar spirits could not be heard except for by those who had summoned them. From everyone else’s point of view, it looked as if Isla had been enveloped in a mysterious black light and then subsequently lost her mind… Although the Subordinate Vampires who had already been guided by Vandalieu had been moved to tears and had begun to pray at the sight of the ‘Familiar Spirit Demonfall.’
Thankfully, Director Holly was checking up on the children and they weren’t in the hallway leading to the Job-changing room, so they had not witnessed Isla’s eccentric behavior.
The destruction of Hihiryushukaka, the evil god of joyful life, was sensed by the gods of Alda’s forces and the rest of the remnants of the Demon King’s army, despite the fact that they had not directly witnessed it.
“Hihiryushukaka’s presence has vanished from the Bahn Gaia continent…?” murmured Alda, the god of law and fate.
“It seems that he has been destroyed by Vandalieu,” said Rodcorte, the god of reincarnation.
Though the gods did not know the fine details of Vandalieu’s movements, they had indeed been rather strange, and Hihiryushukaka had been after him, so they had concluded that it was Vandalieu’s doing after all.
“… The evil god that has troubled us for the past hundred thousand years has come to an unsatisfying end. To think that he would become food for Vandalieu on his own. If he had quietly allowed us to seal him away, he could have avoided his own destruction,” Alda lamented.
“I never had even the smallest expectation that he would kill Vandalieu, but… the Demon King’s army isn’t what it used to be, considering that he was not even able to take a single one of Vandalieu’s companions down with him,” said Rodcorte.
Meanwhile, the other gods that had once been a part of the Demon King’s army trembled in fear.
It wasn’t just Ravovifard, the evil god of release; Hihiryushukaka had fallen as well. These two evil gods had gained even more power after the Demon King’s defeat and risen to power in the world, and yet they had both been destroyed just a few years apart.
Though the remnants of the Demon King’s army were called remnants, they acted separately, and they all felt the danger threatening them.
Despite that… they would not gather their strength together once more. Without the Demon King Guduranis, the powerful being that had ruled over them all, it would have been impossible for evil gods whose values and environments were vastly different to form a large-scale organization as they had. The ones left in Lambda in particular were peculiarly unique, and not in a good sense.
A poor attempt at trying to band together would likely result in the evil gods trying to crush each other rather than joining forces.
The evil gods knew this, so they merely formed small alliances with other gods that were similar to themselves, and they made no large-scale moves.
In contrast to the evil gods, a goddess who nobody thought was moving… who everyone thought was slumbering, was singlehandedly making a move that was small but would lead to great things, all on her own.
“She was worshiping other gods as well, not just me, so our connection was very thin. But now, she is close to not only Vida and him, but to me as well,” the goddess murmured to herself. “In other worlds, they say that the ocean is the mother of all life… I shall do everything in my power.”
To be precise, she was a goddess who ruled over the water attribute rather than the ocean, but the god of seas was among her subordinate gods, so there was no problem in thinking of herself as such.
And Peria, the goddess of water and knowledge, gave a lady her divine protection and a message.
Peria wished to continue pretending to slumber until this lady became able to deliver the message to him and see how he acted in response to it.
Several days after Vandalieu acquired the ‘Demiurge’ Job, several dozen people in Talosheim who had gained the ‘Familiar Spirit Demonfall’ Skill gathered and lined up with a set distance between each of them. All of them were armed; it was as if a fighting tournament were about to take place.
“Everyone, you’ve all prepared yourselves?! I’m not prepared yet, so give me a minute!” Fester shouted.
“… Fester. You’ve become a father, so get a hold of yourself,” said Zeno.
“H-hey, it’s just like using ‘Surpass Limits,’ right?” asked Kasim nervously.
“Yes, that’s right, Kasim. It will be like the sensation I had when I summoned familiar spirits while I was still alive… probably,” said Gerda.
“I-it’s my first time summoning a familiar spirit. Am I going to be alright?” Fester wondered.
“I apologize for interrupting your enthusiasm, but please wait a little more before we start the experiment. We must coordinate our timing with those cooperating with us from the Dark Continent and the other nations, you see,” said Luciliano, who was holding several Goblin communication devices.
It was an experiment that was being held, not a fighting tournament.
This was an experiment to see whether there would be any problems with many people using the ‘Familiar Spirit Demonfall’ Skill simultaneously and from different locations.
An ordinary god would send a divine punishment or two upon followers who tried an experiment like this, thought Luvesfol, the raging evil dragon god, thinking about what an act of insolence it would be for a god’s believers to try to test their god’s limits.
But this experiment had been suggested by Vandalieu himself, so there was no need to worry about that.
No, I suppose there would never be such a large number of people with a god’s divine protection in one nation… Even a god who handed them out freely would have his limits. But why am I…
“What in the world am I doing…?” Luvesfol murmured out loud as he thought back upon the events that had led him to this situation.
Although he had been a subordinate of Marduke, the dragon-emperor god, he had betrayed this world and sided with the Demon King Guduranis. Until just a few years ago, he had been one of the remnants of the Demon King’s army.
He had usurped the worship of the Lizardmen in the marshlands from Fidirg, the dragon god of five sins who had betrayed the Demon King’s army to join Vida’s faction, but Vandalieu and his companions had taken the lizardmen and the marshlands back.
After that, he had been on a one-way path spiraling further and further down. He had been sealed away while trying to flee from the Bahn Gaia continent, and after that, he had been forced to put on a shameful display before Tiamat, the mountain queen elder dragon god, and the rest of his former allies…
Still, I am certainly in a better position than Ravovifard, Hihiryushukaka and others who have had their souls devoured… That is certainly true, but…
A sense of conviction did not exist in Luvesfol. What he had was merely a strong desire to survive. That was why he had joined the Demon King’s army, and why he had begged Vandalieu to spare him. He was aware that he had thrown away his pride over and over in order to survive in the past.
But as he reflected upon the situation, he did begin to think that he should have treasured his pride a little more.
“Everyone, you don’t have to be nervous! It will be a part of Van-kun descending… I mean, Demonfalling, onto you!” said Privel, the daughter of the Scylla elder, trying to calm the others down.
“It will fuse with you, but it seems that it’s like ‘Familiar Spirit Descent’ in that it won’t read your memories and inner thoughts. Zanalpadna sent me a Divine Message, so I’m sure of it!” said the large-build Arachne Gizania, who was a daughter of the queen.
“That’s right, so you don’t have to worry either!” Privel said to Luvesfol.
But Privel’s words could not wipe away Luvesfol’s troubles.
In fact, they only amplified them. The fact that a girl like her was worrying about him made him realize just how insignificant he had become.
But that couldn’t be helped. Luvesfol’s body was currently about ten meters tall, the size of a Wyvern.
As a result of being beaten down and sealed away by the Storm of Tyranny, he no longer possessed his original Elder Dragon body; he had been sealed away in the feeble body of a Wyvern.
To an ordinary person, a Wyvern was a fearsome monster. It was powerful and possessed fangs, sharp claws and solid scales. It could fly, and many Wyverns were capable of breathing fire.
But from the perspective of Luvesfol, an Elder Dragon, Wyverns were the most inferior among the inferior dragons that were the Elder Dragons’ descendants.
A Wyvern’s strength, fangs, claws, scales and fire breath were nothing of value. As a type of Dragon, Wyverns were able to fly at reasonable speeds, but acknowledging this was similar to a human praising the agility of a monkey.
And as Wyverns had the intelligence of beasts, it was difficult for Elder Dragons to acknowledge them as their own offspring… Although Luvesfol was not a direct parent of the Wyverns, as he was an Elder Dragon who had an affinity with the water and earth attributes.
I created children numerous times at the order of the Demon King, but many of my offspring were aquatic dragons. Come to think of it, the Scaled King has completely forgotten about me and turned into a Skeleton’s pet. Even though it was supposed to be quite intelligent for a dragon…
As Luvesfol looked into the distance as if trying to escape reality, a large hand suddenly touched his back.
“It’s alright. Van isn’t scary!” said a voice.
The fingers of the hand sunk forcefully into Luvesfol’s body.
Luvesfol let out a shout of surprise and opened his eyes wide as he realized that this hand belonged to the three-meter-tall half-Noble Orc girl Pauvina.
“P-Pauvina-sama! What are you doing?!” he cried.
“Hmm, I just thought you were getting too nervous, Luves,” Pauvina replied.
As a result of Vandalieu’s first pseudo-reincarnation, Pauvina had been born as a mixture of Noble Orc and human blood, and she was growing up faster than a human child would. She had stopped growing after reaching about three meters in height, but if one ignored her size, she looked like a girl in her early teenage years… She had clearly surpassed Vandalieu in this regard.
“I am grateful and overjoyed about your considerate thoughts! But I am fine!” Luvesfol shouted hastily.
Pauvina was Luvesfol’s direct superior… though most people thought of her as his ‘owner.’
Up until a moment ago, Luvesfol had been regretting throwing away his pride, but he had now immediately thrown away that regret and submitted to Pauvina. This was partially due to the fact that Pauvina was something like a younger sister to Vandalieu, but another large reason for his behavior was that Pauvina was easily capable of killing him with her bare hands.
As an Elder Dragon, his instinct was to recognize those who were more powerful than himself as a superior being.
Pauvina had the physical strength from her Noble Orc blood, and had recently learned magic to a certain extent with the aim of acquiring a magical-girl-type Job.
However, she had first acquired the ‘Tamer’ Job and acquired the ‘Strengthen Subordinates’ Skill, saying that this would help everyone bring out their own strengths more… and Luvesfol was under the effects of her ‘Strengthen Subordinates’ Skill.
And she has learned all of this body’s weak points in just a year! What a troublesome younger sister, Luvesfol thought. As for her older brother, what was he thinking when he gave me his divine protection –
But Pauvina did not stop, causing cracking sounds to come from Luvesfol’s spine.
Luvesfol screamed. “Please stop, I beg you, please stop!”
“Huh?” said Pauvina, seemingly unable to understand why he would want her to stop; her fingers showed no signs of stopping whatsoever. “You’re all stiff, you know? Your muscles are all tense.”
As Vandalieu had entrusted Luvesfol to her, Pauvina had learned all of the weak points of Luvesfol’s Wyvern body… where to massage it in order to remove his fatigue.
She had done this mainly through Fidirg telling her, and actual practice on Luvesfol.
C-curse you, Fidirg! Getting so full of yourself now that you have four of your heads intact and only need to restore one more! Luvesfol thought as his weak spots were prodded.
But the whole situation was entirely expected for Fidirg.
When Pauvina came to him for advice on how to care for Luvesfol (or rather, keep him as a pet) because Fidirg was an Elder Dragon as well, he had been very troubled.
“Huh? I may be an Elder Dragon as well, but I am a god that was once a creature that is similar to an Elder Dragon from another world,” one of his heads had said.
“This is like asking a salamander about a newt’s biology,” added a second.
“Honestly, I don’t know anything about that bastard’s biology… Ah, don’t cry! I’ll do something about it, so give me a minute!” the third said hastily, seeing tears in Pauvina’s eyes.
“First, we need Wyverns! Where can we find Wyverns?!” the fourth head said in panic.
And so, Fidirg caught four Wyverns from Dungeons alive in the jaws of his four intact heads in order to allow her to investigate.
He certainly had not gleefully taught Pauvina how to massage a Wyvern, wanting Luvesfol to suffer the massage from the hands of a girl.
Rapiéçage and Yamata were also staring at Luvesfol with hollow eyes.
Rapiéçage was the Chimera Zombie that Vandalieu had created by sewing together monster parts and pieces of the corpses of the companions of the ‘Divine Spear of Ice’ Mikhail. Yamata was a Hydra Zombie that the Pure-breed Vampire Ternecia had created by replacing the nine heads of the corpse of a mutant Hydra with the top body halves of women of different races.
“Get used to… it,” groaned Rapiéçage.
“It-it-it-it~” Yamata sang.
Both were Undead, so neither really understood massages. They had little sympathy for the writhing Luvesfol.
Pain, who had recently developed from a worm into an enormous moth and emerged from his chrysalis, was another regular member of Pauvina’s party. In some cases, other members like Legion and Sam joined as well.
This party’s activities were not all bad things for Luvesfol; some of them had been to his benefit. The most helpful thing was that they had brought him out of the Dark Continent, and he hadn’t needed to meet the gods of Vida’s faction face to face. On top of that, they had accompanied him for Leveling, which had increased his Rank.
He had been unable to fly with Pauvina on his back at first, but after his Rank increases, he could now fly while carrying her while she was fully armed… although it wasn’t an easy task for him.
With that said, he had merely gone from being a Wyvern to a Huge Wyvern and then a Great Wyvern; there was no change to the fact that he was still a Wyvern.
The Guild Master of the Tamers’ Guild, the ‘Flying Dragon User’ Bachem, would have been surprised by this. But Luvesfol thought lowly of all Wyverns; even if he had gone from Rank 5 to Rank 7, he was still just a Wyvern.
With that said, he was better off now than when he had been a weak creature that would have been beaten to death by a few full-strength punches from any of those around him. If he had front legs that were separate from his wings, he would have had no more complaints.
With his next Rank increase, it was possible that he could become a dragon –
Th-this is not good! At this rate, I will fall asleep! Luvesfol thought, his eyes opening wide as he stopped himself from dozing off to the pleasant sensation of his muscular tension being relieved.
At this rate, he really would become nothing more than a pet. He had discarded his pride in order to survive up until this point, but he had originally been an Elder Dragon. He intended to return to his former self one day; he couldn’t afford to lose the part of him that was an Elder Dragon.
“Come to think of it, Luves, you dispatched spirit clones and gave out divine protections as well, right?” said Pauvina, remembering the Scaled King that had received Luvesfol’s divine protection and possessed the ‘God Spirit Clone Descent’ Skill.
“It was… destroyed. By Van… dalieu,” said Rapiéçage, who had become able to speak more fluently in the past year.
“Now… he’s Bone Man’s Dragon… Leo,” said Yamata, who spoke with some difficulty when she wasn’t singing.
“But despite that, you can summon Van’s familiar spirits?” Pauvina asked.
“Yes, there’s no problem… I think,” said Luvesfol.
Being honest, this was a topic that tore at Luvesfol’s pride and dug up his trauma, so he didn’t want to talk about it. But he was willing to be talkative about it in order to divert Pauvina’s interest away from the massage.
“Now, I am sealed within this Wyvern body… I am in a regressed state, having been forced into a pseudo-reincarnation,” he said.
The Storm of Tyranny had applied a forced reincarnation seal on Luvesfol. It was something based on a mysterious technique created together by Peria, the goddess of water and knowledge, and Ricklent, the genie of time and magic.
It had originally been created to force evil gods to be reincarnated as powerless animals or plants, delaying their recovery from defeat.
As the Storm of Tyranny had used this on Luvesfol, who was an Elder Dragon who possessed a body, the seal had fused with a part of his body and caused him to regress into a Wyvern instead of a powerless animal.
This would normally have been considered a failed attempt at sealing Luvesfol away. He had become a Rank 5 monster instead of a weak creature… but as a Rank 5 monster was essentially a weak creature to the Storm of Tyranny, Luvesfol had become unable to do a thing.
But as the result of having such a body, Luvesfol had gained a displayed Status, and ‘Vandalieu’s Divine Protection’ had appeared there at some point.
No matter how much Luvesfol thought about it, he could not understand why he had been given a divine protection. However, there was one thing he had concluded from this fact.
“As a result, my status as a god is ruined… I have become so weak that I cannot even be called a demigod. That is why I have become able to receive a divine protection from another god and summon familiar spirits,” Luvesfol murmured. “I cannot say anything about Vandalieu-sama’s ascension to a demigod, however.”
Pauvina and the others nodded as they listened to Luvesfol’s explanation with great interest. As Luvesfol had hoped, Pauvina’s hands had stopped their work.
Pain made some shrill, echoing noises. Even Pauvina didn’t understand what he was trying to say.
But it seemed that Luvesfol did.
“What is a demigod, you ask? A demigod is a being that is not a pure god without a physical body, and yet is too great to be defined as a human or another kind of organism. Elder Dragons such as myself, Colossi such as Talos, Beast Kings and Pure-breed Vampires are all examples of demigods,” Luvesfol explained.
Monsters and members of Vida’s races of Rank 13 or above, and S-class adventurers, could also be considered demigods in a broad sense. In the sense that they were comparable with gods, had stepped into the domain of divinity or commanded respect like gods.
“But Pure-breed Vampires don’t give divine protections to others, do they?” asked Pauvina.
“Pauvina-sama, there are differences even among demigods. Some may only possess strength that rivals that of gods, while others could be living in Divine Realms like pure gods, sending Divine Messages and divine protections to believers,” Luvesfol explained, implying that he had been incredible himself in the past.
“I see. The term ‘demigod’ is quite vague. Rather than it being a race or a position, it is simply a title that defines all individuals that meet certain standards. Now that I think about it, the hierarchy of gods is also vague… Do they not think of defining it more clearly?” wondered Luciliano, who had suddenly appeared without a noise.
“When did you get here?!” Luvesfol shouted in surprise, having not taken notice of Luciliano’s presence.
But he quickly decided to answer his questions to continue the discussion.
“A clearly-defined hierarchy… My thoughts are certainly not representative for the wills and intentions of all gods, but a clearly-defined hierarchy would have no meaning for humans, nor for us gods. In fact, it would be harmful. Therefore, nobody has clearly defined it,” Luvesfol said.
“Luves, explain in a bit more detail,” said Pauvina.
“… Try imagining if gods, including demigods, were divided into ten ranks based on their power as gods. I believe that humans, thinking of what would benefit them most, would pray to the highest-ranking gods of each attribute. The natures and teachings of those gods would come second to such rankings.”
From the perspective of believers, it would possibly be most beneficial to choose to worship gods that were powerful. But they were not monsters that were under the direct control of evil gods; only a select few would receive any direct blessings from such gods.
An easy-to-understand example would be Alda, the god of law and fate. He was a great god that was worshiped by many people in this world, but less than ten thousand people had received his divine protection. That number was far below one percent of the entire population. With a ranking system among gods, there would be even fewer people capable of summoning familiar spirits, and the number of people capable of summoning beings more powerful than familiar spirits could be counted on one hand.
The reality was that the majority of believers could not receive divine protections. That fact would not change even if they worshiped weaker gods.
But Luvesfol believed that the majority of humans would not realize this.
Of course, if there were a clearly-defined ranking, I would be troubled as I would be on the lower end of it, he thought to himself.
The gods being ranked in this way would also not be able to accept such a system. Their teachings and the achievements of the believers who worshiped them, the ones under the gods’ protection and rule, would all be ignored in favor of simply deciding which gods were the most powerful.
Even weak gods could gather strength by gaining the belief of the people over time, and the believers would receive divine protections and the ability to summon familiar spirits.
But if only the powerful gods were to receive the people’s attention, this would become difficult. Powerful gods would simply continue to grow more powerful, and the weaker gods, no matter how right and how kind to the people they were, would continue to grow weaker. It was possible that the hierarchy would become set and rigid.
With the above logic in mind, the people would only have one god to worship – Alda, the god of law and fate. As far as the people were aware, he was the most powerful god that existed. They wouldn’t even glance at the recently-freed Vida.
“I see. Divine protections are not things that can be acquired through effort to begin with, and it is not easy to acquire the Skill that summons familiar spirits. Being picky and choosing gods only considering these things can hardly be considered faith,” said a satisfied Luciliano, writing down the details of Luvesfol’s explanation. “Thank you for your valuable opinion as a god. It was very helpful.”
“To elaborate a little further, Vandalieu-sama is an exception,” Luvesfol added. “That person transcends my understanding of gods. And Luciliano, do not think of yourselves as ordinary believers. You are also exceptions; there are many of you who possess the divine protections of other gods as well.”
Normally, humans would not create familiar spirits or grant others divine protections during their lifetimes. At the very least, Luvesfol had never heard of such humans.
Luciliano continued to write his notes, and Pauvina was nodding beside him.
“I see. By the way, Luves, you don’t have to add ‘-sama’ to my name and you can speak to me in a more casual way,” said Pauvina.
“No, I could never do such a discourteous…” Luvesfol muttered.
“You can call me ‘Pau,’ you know?” Pauvina said.
“Speak… casual,” Rapiéçage groaned.
“Call us by name?” said Yamata.
Pain let out a high-pitched noise in agreement.
“No, no, no! It would be far too impertinent of me,” said Luvesfol, furiously rejecting this suggestion.
“And depending on the person, changing your tone isn’t always a good thing. Van said that if you do change your tone, it’s best not to be so obvious about it,” said Pauvina.
Luvesfol let out a shriek of terror and frantically looked around as he realized that the new Demon King, the one who had devoured the evil god of joyful life, was observing his behavior. “He is watching me?!”
Of course, there was no way that Luvesfol could find Vandalieu like this. Vandalieu had only left a Demon King Familiar near this place for the experiment.
“Now then, that explanation was very enlightening, but it is time. Doug-kun from the Dark Continent, Iris-kun from the Majin nation, and Sleygar and Haj from the former Scylla territory have informed me that they have finished preparations,” said Luciliano, whose voice was amplified by a Magic Item. “Now then, we will begin the countdown. I will count down from ten, and the moment I say zero, activate your Skills!”
Wait! I don’t want to summon a familiar spirit in this situation! Luvesfol screamed internally.
But the countdown continued relentlessly, and the people gathered here activated ‘Familiar Spirit Demonfall.’
With no choice but to avoid suspicion that he had thoughts that he didn’t want to be read by the familiar spirit, Luvesfol activated ‘Familiar Spirit Demonfall’ as well.
Vandalieu’s familiar spirit… or rather, clone, appeared from the depths of the earth. It read the thoughts that were leaking from Luvesfol panicked, discomposed mind.
“How about you try calling me ‘Van?’” it suggested.
Interpreting this as a threat rather than a simple suggestion, Luvesfol’s eyes rolled into the back of his head, and he fainted.
Despite one participant losing consciousness, the experiment ended uneventfully without any accidents. The experiment proved that ‘Familiar Spirit Demonfall’ activated with no problems no matter how far away Vandalieu was and no matter how many people activated the Skill at once, and it had no effect on Vandalieu himself.
Approximately one month after Vandalieu visited the city of Morksi and opened his food cart.
Natania received a message, along with Vandalieu and his group, from Berard, the Guild Master of the Adventurers’ Guild.
It was a notification that the Flame Blades had finished paying off their reparation sum to Natania.

Familiar Spirit Demonfall reminds me of the George Carlin bits… where he was openly pondering why everyone uses the same condolence language & cliches. Something like: “I’m sure he’s smiling down at us from up above” instead of “I’m sure he’s screaming up at us from down below”
Winter
I know that Van is the only one who can break souls atm, but the fact that Familiar Spirit Demonfall comes out of the ground seems to be far more efficient and safe than the Familiar Spirit Descent that makes a “Target me, I’m here!” kinda lightshow in the sky.
Sailon
Well familiar descent came from above semms to have a reason because they came from the divine realms from the gods.

Oh dear Vida, Isla is going wild, Van should put her some rest…wait… he did that already… and it looks like it will make it even worse…

If Van’s already a god, I guess he won’t get the Peri (a Persian fairy, associated with eclipses, can be generous and evil) job. Maybe one of his pals will get that as a race? But he doesn’t jave many friends with wings, does he? Pain might do. Maybe he will tame a dragonfly one day, these look cool.
I wonder who’s the food cart king of Talosheim. Maybe a buddy from the cultivation villages.
Fidirg is the best. Zakkart must have been relieved that there were some normal guys among the ones who changed sides. Alda and co are real retards to not aknowledge even gods who showed such integration capabilities. Anyway, it’s just so fumny to hear all his heads, I’m expecting a lot from the fifth one!

Oh, so Haj and the Armor-Tamers are with Sleygar and the others in the Sauron Duchy, okay. I was wondering for a while if they were in Talosheim. I wonder if Iris’ old subordinates are with her or with Haj for work. There are so many groups of people Van can use for different things now.

“… The evil god that has troubled us for the past hundred thousand years has come to an unsatisfying end. To think that he would become food for Vandalieu on his own. If he had quietly allowed us to seal him away, he could have avoided his own destruction,” Alda lamented.
shouldnt he have even an ounce of gratitude that he’s eliminated at all? dying for good is regarded as ‘unsatisfying end’ in what world? he’d rather hold it captive eternally which also comes with the side risk of his revival over a definite death? and he considers eternal confinement a better alternative to a swift end?? jesus, Alda is actually insane beyond belief
Raidanzoup
He probably finds it unsatisfying because he and his didn’t get to deliver justice, and Van’s faction gained a considerable amount of experience points from it, lol.

Who knows, his past translations have been roughly 3-6 chapters per month, there might be one more chapter coming soon before this month ends or we might not see another chapter until the start of June
Renrobt
While we are all waiting on the chapter, I suggest to revisit something most of us have skipped or just glanced over once or twice: the Appendixes. In specific appendix 2 and 3, the monster explanation and guild explanation respectively.
It details just how strong monsters and adventurers are in relation to your average person, who in this context is someone who only maybe had a couple of creation oriented jobs in their life, and little to no combat experience and skills.
Like with this we can easily say that Pauvina is equivalent to an A-rank adventurer simply by looking at her skills, and this implies that she can take down Rank 9 monsters by herself.
And just how dangerous is rank 9? These are monsters that have the power to destroy small nations and city states by themselves, should they emerge, devastating any and all towns they besiege. In short? A walking natural disaster. One that can be killed of course, but only with a team of people who are about to reach superhuman powers or someone who has already surpassed the limits of humanity, regular people or even heavily trained knights are just the same against it.
Also kinda gives a context to how frightening Van is considering he just casually commands an army full of rank 10+ monsters, with there being quite a handful rank 13 and above. You literally need an army of A-rank or a group of S-Rank adventurers to just deal with Knochen, one of Van’s “tamed” monsters. And he is using him as a mobile concert venue.Thank you Van.
Renrobt
Yeah I agree. It was mentioned that due to the sheer scale of the army Knochen can produce it is very likely that even groups of A rank or S rank adventurers would drop dead from sheer exhaustion and starvation. Also while I don’t get why, Knochen also lacks a core, that is commonly a weakness of monsters like it, effectively making it unkillable until you break every single bone. And that is not something easily done considering the Bone of Evil gods and the Demon king Van fed to it as a “treat”.
Renrobt
Ah reasonable, we shouldn’t forget that Rank-ups and the such are actually really rare and are the exceptional cases. Of course those around Van are a different question because of the guidance, divine protection of Van and maybe even other gods added on top.
So it makes sense that the creatures that went from 0 to where they are, are more developed both in their skills and in their race in general. For example Knochen’s ability to fly or Bone man’s ability to produce bones as actual weapons, both in hand and with long distance control. These abilities are not something that would ordinarily develop even if somehow an equivalent of their race appear.
Jonathan Hurd
An important factor as well for rank ups that was mentioned with the lack goblins especially is different races have growth Windows. For instance Goblins can level and gain skills much faster early in life. Afterwards their ability to do so greatly drops off.
So to rank up you need levels which can take a long time if you focus on killing those weaker than you. Raising skills which takes time no matter what. Sometimes outside stimulus, like when Van hit the undead skeletons in one dungeon with Death Attribute mana, and all of these have to happen in a timely manner. Considering all this it’s kind of amazing so many manage to rank up.
Renrobt
I see makes sense. It was even mentioned when Van was trying to Rank up the sisters after that dungeon that apparently there are conditions needed to be met before he can just brute force it with his insane mana.
So rather than how common or uncommon monsters ranking up, we should rather look at the difficulty that these monsters face to achieve the necessary steps for rank up.
Like early on Bone man and the others ranked up as soon as they reached level 100 so we can assume that it was the only condition or they met the conditions during leveling. But then Bone Man and the others all hit walls which did get resolved when Van started appearing in their dreams giving them something, as what we can consider an early form of his guidance and divine protection
On lower ranks likely these conditions are simpler, if they exist at all, but low rank also assumes that the monster can barely fend for itself. A single goblin alone is so weak that an average farmer or craftsman could kill it after all.
Probably their condition to rank up is just to kill something so that they level up and maybe acquiring and using proper tools. After all I don’t think they get the better equipment just magically upon rank up, rather what if getting the equipment itself is a trigger for it.
Going by this for them to be a king it might require that they not just kill and consume but actually establish a rudimentary command over a small force, gaining of skills relevant to that and eventually leading to it’s evolution to an actual king. Or maybe by dominating other goblin generals and having them submit to it, acquiring it similarly to a title.

I just realized the title of the chapter may not be the most accurate, if they replace “grows” with something like “emerges” then that might be better.
GLWD
Grows allows it to have (keep?) the double meaning. As discussed below, a demiurge is basically an incredibly powerful deity related to creation and will (kind of mashing up Webster and Oxford but, eh.) So now the line also essentially means “Van’s growth as a deity!… (From the ground)”
Which is appropriate, since the ability to provide familiar spirits was one of the last things separating Van from the traditional pantheon of gods.
no1
Maybe, but “grows from the ground” gives me the impression of a plant growing from the ground. And its not like the little van spirit, from the familiar spirit demon fall skill, grew from the ground, more like it emerged from the ground.
GLWD
It does seem a bit awkward, but I’m pretty sure that this is Yoshi and Co. trying to faithfully convey multiple meanings in a single thought as in the original – it’s quite a bit easier in Japanese where the author can just pop in a single kanji character, then drop some katakana on top to express which meaning the reader is supposed get from the kanji – sometimes fiction writers will even create new meanings/readings with the katakana. Add to that the times the author clearly intends for the Kanji to keep it’s most obvious meaning AND the separate meaning of the kata…
I remember one panicked mangaka adressing multiple bits of fan mail along the lines of “Wow, I didn’t know you could read (insert kanji) that way, cool! I’ll try that on my next test, see if I can impress my teacher”. Que sudden blog posts and entries in the extras section of his books “No, stop! Don’t do it, I made that one up!”

Thanks for another great chapter.
I love this series, but the sheer number of characters has gotten insane. I mostly remember the mains, but i completely forgot who Gerda was until I read the comments.
I know this would be a pain in the ass to implement, but I wish there was a side bar or something in each chapter listing each character that shows up in that chapter. And each name was a link to a character profile. Could probably link it to the fan wiki itself.
I know what you’re thinking, “Why don’t you just have the wiki open yourself to use as a quick reference?”. True, but having a direct link to the wiki might encourage people to update the wiki with more complete information. Gerda’s page doesn’t mention anything about her relationship with Kasim or about her wanting Kasim to bring in other women to the relationship to fight off zombie loneliness.
Jonathan Hurd
I think the official wiki might have some spoilers so I don’t think they want to link to it. I will say if you ever have any questions on names feel free to post in the comments. The more obsessive of us (me included) would be happy to detail who they are.

The wiki also has straight-up misinformation as well from what I’ve heard. And if you fix it, they just un-fix it. Stay away from the wiki.

It’s been basically hinted that the battle oriented champions or (Bellwood atleast) left the creation minded ones for death to guduranis
Vandalieu-sama's Nun
All the more reason to see Bellwood’s soul get crushed by Vandalieu-sama
Jonathan Hurd
At least Farmaungold didn’t know about the plan if someone did make a deal with the Demon King to kill the creation champions. Alda as well is to rigid to ever agree to working with the Demon King for any purpose.
The suspicious one has always been Bellwood. The fact he always butted heads with Zakkart and the others. Add in Zakkart working on nuclear weapons which Bellwood found abhorrent. Then there is the fact that Bellwood was sealed by the Evil God of Sinful Chains. Makes you wonder what Sins were grave enough that they took out the basically second most powerful God in Aldas faction.
One thing I do find interesting though was something ‘Birknye’ mentioned while fighting Bellwood. That Bellwood talked a lot about others being brainwashed but maybe it was he who was brainwashed. That could just be about how fervent Bellwood was about protecting the environment, but it could also mean that maybe there was a mastermind pulling Bellwoods strings inciting his actions.
Honestly that is not hard to imagine. Just whisper a few words to Bellwood that Zakkart and the others went off on their own to mass produce nuclear weapons. Whisper that Vida is making monsters to get revenge on humanity for Zakkarts death. Whisper that he needs to act before they can do irreparable damage. This is the problem with people like Asagi and Bellwood who see no gray. They always cast themselves as white so everyone and everything that disagrees with them is evil and must be destroyed no matter the cost.
Kazza
One thing about the Vida Races, was Bellwood the one who named them? I always assumed Vida named them after being told myths and legends of Earth from Zakkart and the other two champions, because it was only after Guduranis was defeated that she put the new races plan into motion.
I mean, you’re right in that he’s using literal made-up information (presuming these creatures never actually existed on their Earth, which Origin’s god just makes unclear) to unjustly scapegoat entire species, but that does make me think it’s weird that Vida used evil monster names and designs as templates for her new species. It’s kind of like naming your new race “Natzis” that have a Swastika shaped mark on their foreheads as a racial trait. Like, Vida, you’re kind of meeting Bellwood halfway here.
I guess she didn’t really have a choice, as any non-human entity in mythology has acted malevolent in some stories, even gods themselves. Of course,
this was mostly due to the times, where disease and danger could come unexpectedly at any moment, so death could happen to our mythological heroes at any moment as well. Now that we’ve got a relatively safer society, we don’t really fear the unknown and indulge in a lot of fantasy.
Maybe that’s just a difference between Bellwood and Zakkart. Old-Fashioned v. New-Fashioned. For every trickster Fae story and fable Bellwood read, Zakkart watched “Peter Pan” and Zelda. For all the sirens Bellwood read about in (I dunno, like the “Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner,” I guess), Zakkart watched “The Little Mermaid” and SpongeBob. For all the “Dracula” and “Nosferatu” Bellwood watched, maybe Zakkart liked… uh, Hellsing? Nah, Alucard’s kind of an asshole… Castlevania? Vida forbid, Twilight?
It’s actually got me thinking, was it ever established the time period on the Earth they were taken from? Because it would actually be kinda interesting if Bellwood wasn’t just an eco-terrorist, but actually had a sympathetic motivation for not wanting environmental damage. The ages don’t match up, but imagine if he was a Hiroshima/Nagasaki survivor. That’d actually make me pity him, to be honest, especially if Zakkart was a modern guy who grew up in modern Japan with the whole event as something in a textbook… being unable to actually understand Bellwood’s perspective as a survivor.
But honestly, I’m just typing into thin air now. Ignore my ramblings, I guess, cause I don’t even really have anything I disagree with you on. Just started thinking and didn’t stop typing until now…
Lord Rin
It was said that each hero summoned was similar to the god that summoned them so given how Bellwood is that should tell you what sort of person Alda is. Basically Bellwood didn’t brainwash Alda, he merely reinforced the type of views he already had. Even before the heroes were summoned it was said that Alda constantly got into fights and arguments with Vida and the other chief gods would have to step in and mediate in order to keep the balance. Once most of them died or were sealed or fell asleep to recuperate their wounds, there was nobody to mediate the conflicts between Alda and Vida which just got worse when Vida accused Alda of specifically letting Guduranis kill the creation heroes because they weren’t following Bellwood -though she eventually realized that Alda isn’t smart and scheming enough to do something like that- and finally war broke out between the two. Anyways since then after punishing Vida with the Stakes of Law and the rest of her faction left for the Dark Continent and Southern Boundary Range, all Alda has been doing is keep ascending his believers into heroic spirits and gods who have just become an echo chamber that have reinforced his ideals and have led to the asshole we have today.
Jonathan Hurd
I think rather than the people being summoned being similar to their particular God’s. They were chosen by those God’s because they took a liking to their personalities. I mean when Vida found Zakkart he was trying to hang himself. I don’t think the Goddess of life who forbids suicide matches well with someone one step from doing it.
I think Bellwood is just overall charismatic and brought a lot of people on board through sheer obstinance. We should remember Zantark actually agreed with Aldas side til he fused with evil God’s to live. Basically Bellwood is the original Asagi. Someone more holier than though who believes he is on the right path and utterly refuses to listen to others. If your views agree with him he’s comforting and a great leader. If you don’t match up with his ideals then he’s amazingly grating and insufferable.
Alda has a very black and white view of things. I believe he was even originally against summoning champions but was out voted. Bellwood pitched everything as Black and White good versus evil that made Alda really happy and easily agree.
A sad part to me about Alda is I honestly think he realizes the current path is wrong. The problem is he’s to proud to admit it and he’s stuck in the sunk cost fallacy. Basically he looks back at the billions of lives his decisions have destroyed and says “we can’t let their sacrifice be in vain so we need to keep killing til the work is done!” Just adding more bodies and not learning any lessons. I think the reason he wants Bellwood back so bad is so that Bellwood can keep telling him his decisions are right and push away the creeping doubts.
fearmore
Is Alda have a loose screw??? Would you rather be sealed than killed? Its like you can live but in vegetative state, you can’t do anything and I think its worse than death.
Jonathan Hurd
I think the logic for him and a lot of God’s is if you’re just sealed at least you’re alive. Maybe something can happen and you get another shot. If you get eaten though then it’s all over. We have actually seen a few evil God’s choose that route like the one the minotaurs were worshipping.
Vitor
More like he wanted Hihiryushukaka to become exp for his lame excuses of heroes instead of exp for Van&co.

What chapter did she appear?
Renrobt
Okay so Peria likely bestowed her message and protection on Juliana. We shall see what she will be up to after she is reborn, but considering Quinn she likely won’t suffer memory loss like in Pauvina’s case.
Also talking about Pauvina: am I the only one who imagines her as Bisky from HunterXHunter just looking girlier and with a little more ork/pig features.
Also lets just acknowledge that she is strong enough to kill Luvesfol alone with her bear hands. True he is weakened but he is still a Great Wyvern, a rank 7 monster + near godlike intelligence. It would require a considerable effort with possibly involvement of an A rank adventurer. She can do it bare handed. At 8 years old. Yes not as strong as Van but he is already pretty much a God, especially in the context of Lamba where there was an era when Gods walked among men.
So yeah Pauvina with her 4 divine protections and 10 already completed jobs, plus her full equipment and even the demonfall, would probably put her on the level of at least a small group of B rank adventurers if not straight to A rank. We have yet to see how much of a boost Demonfall provides after all.
no1
Are you sure the one Peria gave divine protection to was Juliana? Did I miss something, why would Peria interact with her?
no1
Also isn’t Juliana currently being reincarnated as some kind of minotaur baby
no1
Oh, that’s what she meant, now that make more sense. But seriously, who calls the womb the “sea of life”? Is that an actual term?
Jonathan Hurd
To be fair a fertilized egg is where all humans start from. She might be influencing that so she’s trying to make a link between the egg and her powers to make it easier for her to influence Juliana’s resurrection. It also admitted could be as Tank says and she’s mostly just talking to herself.
Dyneamaeus
See, I was under the impression that Peria was messaging Darcia. With her connections to Vida and Vandaleiu she would fit, and her title of holy mother makes the mother of life line make sense.
Renrobt
Then there would be no need to wait and see. Also while we don’t really know what gods Darcia worshiped before, but right now she is pretty much an incarnation of Vida and her ultimate champion.
In contrast to that we know who Juliana worshiped from when she admitted to worshiping other gods than those affiliated with Vida and felt down about it. Other than Vida she mentioned Peria as well and considering that she is now pretty much a fanatic worshiper of Van and Vida it is likely that her connection to the other Gods with Vida has strengthened as well.

I reread some chapters and found it interesting.
In chapter 171, Levia says “Just exposing myself to the outside air steadily drained my Vitality; it was a very harsh place. I cannot really release my flames inside Sam’s carriage, either”.
Seriously, it caught me completely off guard, I thought ghosts used Mana as HP and I really didn’t expect them to be able to possess Vitality…
Anyway, my point is: What is the possibility that the undead, in general, have Vitality?
I vaguely remember a mention of the fact that the undead have attributes set to 0; however, I don’t remember whether that attribute referred to resistance or vitality; I don’t even remember which chapter that mention was in or whether it really existed.
Well, I also remember that ghosts were once referred to as astral beings instead of Undead, so it may be that ghosts have Vitality while Undead do not, simply because they are different types of existence.
What is your opinion?
Jonathan Hurd
I think in Lambda everything has vitality. Basically the world runs on rpg logic. Hitting certain vulnerable spots can deal critical damage, but as long as your vitality doesn’t hit zero you’re still alive. Add in natural toughness and resistances as you level up and it can make it nigh impossible to kill certain things or people even if you cut their throats.
For Undead I think the stat that is not listed is Stamina. Undead don’t need to sleep or rest. They don’t have muscle cramps. That’s how Rita and Saria originally mastered using a Naginata and bows. They trained 24/7 for months.
For the reason why environment could hurt Princess Levia, that’s because she is an elemental ghost and the contrasts of manifesting. Normally ghosts can’t touch people and vice versa. By expending mana they can manifest in spirit form. The problem as I understand it is the Spirit or ghosts of people consists of a small part that is the Soul. The soul contains basically your DNA. The stuff that makes you, you and surrounding that soul protecting it is mana. A ghost using Spirit Form is using the limited mana they have to materialize themselves. If they use or lose to much the Soul loses its protection and they disperse.
Basically manifesting yourself as a ghost is burning your own body if you don’t have an outside fuel source. This is where being an Elemental Ghost comes in. Princess Levia takes in outside heat and turns that into mana allowing her to manifest. Problem is in the arctic temperatures of certain levels of the Trial of Zakkart it would be so cold she would not only not get assistance from the environment but it would be cooling her down costing her more of her own mana to manifest.
Tejing
All undead have vitality. Not sure where you got another idea, but that’s how it is. The thing about undead having some attributes set to zero doesn’t connect to anything I know of; I suspect your memory is just faulty here.
Jonathan Hurd
I think what has been mentioned before is undead don’t have a listed Stamina stat. It’s not zero but infinity. I think he just mixed vitality and stamina.

No, the current raws are at chapter 466 on arc 15( right now is arc 10). So the series is still being written by the author. New raw chapters are coming out every 4 to 5 days.

Heres something you might find interesting. Peria is one of the major gods that was on Alda/Vidas level of power in the past. Not only has she come unsealed, but she is hiding that fact and trying to contact Van from the looks of it; indicating she is on Vida’s side.
If you remember from a long time ago the god of ice Yupeon who is supposed to be her subordinate cooperated with Alda and put his spirit inside a spear (Ice Age) which was used to invade Talosheim and destroy Vida’s relics. Of course Van destroyed the spirit causing Yupeon much damage.
But this means that if Peria joins up with Van, her subordinate gods working for Alda will be in an odd spot. Also keep in mind that all of Peria’s subordinate gods are not under Alda, some are under Vida like Tristan (sea god).
Matchu
Peria is not sealed she has been out cold the whole time, she’s mearly bieng gaurded by a bunch of aldas subordinate gods and one of her own subordinate gods
Jonathan Hurd
Honestly no matter what side she chooses that was going to be awkward for one side. I suspect that there aren’t going to be any real defections other than maybe truly close associates like the goddess guarding her. A lot of the gods under Alda have basically hit the point of no return.
Knowing Alda anyways he’s just going to declare shes gone crazy, been corrupted by the Demon king(old or new), or both and needs to be put down like old yeller.
Lord Rin
Personally I wish Nineroad would defect from Alda’s faction. Or if not join Vida’s faction then at least separate from Alda’s and stay out of the conflict. She sees that Alda’s way isn’t good. She’s basically the token good guy on Alda’s side. Farmaun did try to get her to leave with him but she declined because she thinks she’s done far too much and is too late to be forgiven by Vida’s side.
I would love to see a scenario where practically every surviving major god turns on Alda. Vida and her current faction go without saying while Ricklent and Zuruwarn have recently openly joined after Rodcorte informed Alda of their “betrayal”. Farmaun betrayed Alda thousands of years ago and it seems like Peria wishes to join. That only leaves Botin and Nineroad. If they betray then Alda has been abandoned by everyone and he’d probably denounce them as all insane.
Jonathan Hurd
I’m honestly not completely sure where Nineroad stands in the conflict. She definitely isn’t a Alda/Bellwood fanatic like a lot of the other newer God’s, but she also hasn’t really taken any steps to stop Aldas genocide or join Farmaun. At this point I feel like she might really be neutral. I’m not sure if Van and crew busted down Aldas door if she’d stand up to fight him or just go with the winner.
For major God’s on Vidas side we can’t forget Zantark over on the dark continent. To be fair he did fuse with two evil God’s so he is an easier target to call insane, but yeah I don’t think anyone really agrees with Alda mainly because he backstabbed and attacked his own sister. Personal feelings aside if he was willing to do it once, why wouldn’t he be willing to do it again if he doesn’t get his way once more. Honestly the most insane and dangerous God to me has always been Alda.
Van at least has made his stance very clear. You don’t mess with him and he won’t kill you. Vida and her races are similar in that they just want to be left alone. Alda has more in common with the remnants of the DKs army. He attacks anyone who is different and sows chaos wherever he goes. So much for being a God of law and order.
Lord Rin
Though she hasn’t really thought through the implications of her advice. She advised Alda to accept the peaceful faction’s view and in order to do that, he will need to move the dark elves, beast people and titans to Rodcorte’s circle of reincarnation but she doesn’t know that to do that, Vida would need to die so her own circle of reincarnation stops working
Ozarazil
Look at that job history, Pauvina is broken man!! Hahaha…
This experiment raises some questions like where does the power from demon downfall comes from? Is there another source besides Van? You know? Maybe Van’s existence already gave birth to another entity “Vandal God of Death” and it even has it’s divine realm already and that’s where the power comes from but since Van still has his psychal body this entity is yet to awaken… Or something hahaha
SuicidalSkeletin
I have thought for a very long time that when Van operates in his “dreams” he is actually in a type of divine realm. Since he has the ability to give people his demonic protection and his demonfall we can assume that there’s a space somewhere that Van has access to. Possibly in a similar fashion to the goddess of slumber, who’s divine realm functions like a dream and can connect to people when they sleep.
Additionally since his soul is way too grotesque and we have witnessed a lot of times how divine realms are not strictly bound common rules, there’s no actual requirement for spirit descent to come from above or below, since a divine realm is fundamentally a space that exists in alignment to but functions separately from the world of Lamda.
Jonathan Hurd
I think Vans dream diving is more him invading others divine realms and areas, but I do think he has his own divine realm. That’s probably the place where he summoned everyone to work on his soul together
For where the power comes from it definitely seems to be a small portion of Vans soul. Vida and the rest did comment about how his soul had completely healed and the leftovers were saved to be familiar spirits and spirit clones.
What I find interesting is the amount of will and intelligence Vans spirit familiars have. Usually Familiar Spirit Descent is just for increasing stats, but with Vans it’s like you got a parallel will and someone with all of Vans knowledge. That is definitely way more useful.
Renrobt
The source of the demonfall is the Van clones. That much was said. Well to be exact it is literally Van but a small semi independent fragment of his that was made out of his leftover soul.
With this we can assume that no new god has been made but rather these “independent” clones have their own mana reserve that they regenerate separately though probably still benefiting from Van’s skills like his newly improved Mana regen. Probably this is also why Van actually didn’t feel anything, as these clones didn’t drain Van.
WholesomeAF
You might have missed it but it clearly did it came from scrapes of his soul when they try to rebuild it

Hey. There is this one thing that came to my mind after reading all the comments about the mistery goddess. I am not an expert in japanase…ok I don’t anything about it BUT isn’t “kanojo” the way they refer to young girls. This might be a clue.
Correct me if I’m wrong pals.
Tejing
Yoshi fixed it. It no longer says the recipient of the message is a goddess. And ‘kanojo’ is just an all around female pronoun as I understand it. It doesn’t mean she’s young in particular, though in some colloquial contexts it implies someone’s girlfriend, but that clearly isn’t how it’s being used here.

Thanks for the chapter!
GLWD
I like to imagine that Pauvina got Unarmed Fighting Level 4 as a result of the massages she’s been giving Luves – he certainly whines like he’s being attacked.
Thank you for the chapter! Always nice to see that despite the massive cast of characters, Densuke still remembers to let us know how they’re doing.
JeKeBe
The Flame Blades and the god who is now sponsoring them are all idiots. They were just complaining about the fine and how impossible it would be for a low-level adventuring party to pay off 100k each, and yet they pay it off in full within a month. Yeah, that’s not going to generate any suspicion or anything.
Maybe not from Van, who has a strange common sense on many subjects including money, but there’s people around him who used to be or deal with adventurers and would know how unusual the sudden cash influx would be. It’s like the idiot criminals who make a big score and then rather than laying low start spending money like water.
The guild itself would have to be suspicious of the sudden windfall and would likely investigate whether any criminal activity was involved. Not to mention the noble who’s keeping an eye on all things Van-related.
Entropy
There might be a reason behind them paying it off quickly. If the flame blades are trying to gather attention, this may fall into their plans. I suspect that they are now puppets of heroic gods in the same way that noble orc was used as a host for the god of release. Knowing Fitun, he probably wants more volunteers and if adventurers see a group of losers suddenly get power, they might be willing to do the same. I do think that it will attract too much attention possibly from other gods or Vand.
SuicidalSkeletin
With recent events its not unlikely to think that they got some divine protection from a god and that’s how they leveled up so quickly, because after all that’s basically what happened.
It still remains suspect, but even if they did investigate all they’d have to do is inspect the statuses and if Fitun gave them familiar spirit descent it would basically be over with the suspicions.
Entropy
I doubt the humans are still in control. I don’t know how but I suspect the heroic gods are behaving like body snatchers. Either Fitun is doing this or he might be using humans as sacrifices to summon gods from the divine realm. Makes me almost feel sorry for the fire blades, but they deserve either option considering their past histories. I do feel bad for any idiots gullible enough to believe they can get power for nothing. I do agree that with Alda’s group handing out divine protection, a lot of people might mistake the fire blades as another group of beta heroes.
Jonathan Hurd
I think Fitun might of used Hajimes Marionette to fry their brains and then possess them with Heroic Spirits. They might be possessed by familiar spirits and are just going to be used as pawns/meat shields in the actual fight. Another scenario is maybe with Fitun backing up Marionettes power he’s just skillfully controlling the whole group himself.
To give the payments he would only need to have one person turn it in. He could even go himself and say he decided to help them redeem themselves.
He’s probably using the paying off the debt as a way to force Van to come to them. I think considering Fituns personality this might be him sending a challenge to Van. It’s to open and obvious to be a trap, but it is also to important to be ignored. Fitun seems the type who would enjoy a direct confrontation of full strength. So he’s probably doing this so Van brings his full power to the battle to fight him with, the poor deluded fool.
WholesomeAF
Just to share my opinion but I believe the interaction between hajime and the flame blades guys means they fall under hajime because let’s not forget his unique skill marionette wc basically controls people might have been weak before he came to lambda but it probably get up some levels
Paps
Thanks for the chapter. Van keeps going and going!!!!!!!

New chapter!!! Banzai!!! Thanks Yoshi!!! Hope you’re staying safe and well. You too Sebas Tian! Thanks a bunch
Mossy Stone
Sounds like Peria is contacting Van soon?
Alda would have preferred to seal the god of joyful life? After all the evil done by Hiru, Alda regrets his destruction???
Jonathan Hurd
Yeah, Alda isn’t even willing to stop hunting the defector Evil God’s. So there’s no chance he would pity one that has been such a pain in the butt for him for so long. I think Aldas sentiments are close to Rodcorte and as Tank said “if you were going to get yourself killed please weaken Van not strengthen him.”
Entropy
Plus Alda might want to use evil gods as level boosts for his new heroes. They may be unable to kill the evil gods, but I suspect Heinz could have gained a few levels from sealing them. I also suspect he does not want any good publicity to go to Vand, last thing he wants is for people to consider him a hero.
SuicidalSkeletin
Thanks for the chapter!!! Anyone else excited to see how Van manages to dissuade Nuaza from making giant worship statues for him? I wonder if Van can gain power from prayers now too, imagine him slowly start to get worshiped by humans too that would be amazing.
Jonathan Hurd
I think the trick for Nuaza to mark this event is to build statues of Vans champions and then a small Van crawling up from the ground to signify his Demon Familiar skill. It is honestly getting harder to deny Vans godhood by the day, lol.
Mr.Darkness
I don’t think Van can dissuade Nuaza anymore… Seems impossible to me.

Thank you for the chapter~!

Wannabe
I really dig the explanation of god rankings and the deliberate obfuscation of their power levels being a feature and not a bug. It kinda makes Alda placing himself as the top dog in the pantheon instead of one of 8 maintaining the balance of the world seem more sinister. Somewhat like starving out the other old gods that probably need that worship to recover. I feel like maybe he didn’t intend it to be that way at first, but with the way his subordinates seem to treat it as the obvious truth he clearly isn’t correcting anybody about it.
Having it in the same chapter as Peria playing possum and giving out a blessing makes me think it was a factor in her deciding to keep quiet.
Lord Rin
Well Ricklent and Zuruwarn do consider it insane for Alda to be the chief god like the current situation and probably consider Alda to be insane for not doing anything to change the situation.
Jonathan Hurd
I would say the reason all of Aldas faction treats Alda ruling over everyone as normal is most of them are fairly new recruits. A ton of the old guard died, sealed, destroyed, or defected. Those who stayed with Alda obviously supported his beliefs and system to start. The newbies raised by Alda and his group to their positions in the last hundred thousand years were raised from birth believing this is the norm.
I will say though Alda needs the other elements God’s to be worshipped as well though. At least for world maintenance. Alda himself is holding up the life and light attributes, but that leaves water, wind, fire, earth, time, and space with some serious holes.
Now it was mentioned that Vidas side has been suffering currently due to her being sealed and unable to give divine protections and familiar spirits. The Demiherioc spirit in her resting grounds informed us of that. For the rest though I think most people don’t worship based on that because there are no assurances you’ll be picked for divine protections and familiar spirits. So most would choose someone whose teachings they agree with and hopefully living in accordance with what they preach will gain you their recognition.
bk3k
Alda is attempting to destroy Vida’s reincarnation system by killing EVERY SINGLE PERSON of those races she created. Hence his teachings to do just that, and the Amid Empire doing just that. Vampires, Dampires, and Dark Elves all fall under that category, hence the reason Van had a terrible start in this world. Where as the Reconciliation Faction (Heinz) wants to allow only the Vida races without Rank to exist as well – only because they don’t know about the Vida’s reincarnation system (aka the reason for Alda’s teachings) – and that allows them to spare Dampires and Dark Elves for example but not Vampires. But once the rest are all killed, Alda would probably (once again) order them killed too, to finish off Vida’s reincarnation system.
What happens to the souls of Vida’s reincarnation system if they have no vessel to be born into every again? Well they’re screwed. Alda has written them off.
Vandalieu-sama's Nun
Well he is to be exact, because Alda doesn’t notice that Bellwood got into his head so much he a God is worshipping a human turned god younger than he is as a God. In simple terms he is a fanatic created by Bellwood’s sweet words and close mindedness, this will be the reason why the Creation Faction gods would never join him because in form he is exactly like………the hell is this?Am I wrong to say Alda is exactly like Guduranis but more calm, and justice like. Chaotic Justice. I mean if you think that way it really makes sense. Is willing to kill his own sister, destroy her children, become the ruler of everything in Lambda and all gods who disagree with him get punished the same way as Vida. This is interesting as Vandalieu’s potential of godhood.
Tejing
I agree, Alda is the character with the greatest similarity to Guduranis in the current Lambda, in terms of mentality. He is fixated on imposing his will on the world, will annihilate anyone who doesn’t ally with him and anyone who has no place in the world he wants to create. The fact that the world he wants to create looks different from the one Guduranis wanted to create is honestly not that important.
Chiu ChunLing
I feel like the biggest factor is what he and Bellwood did to Vida (and her faction, and her children).
The motives for the attack…I’m inclined to the view that the thinking of the gods who chose the creation oriented Champions would be more in line with Zakkart’s offer of accepting those Evil Gods willing to defect and helping integrate them into the world rather than plot to discard and erase them once Guduranis was defeated.
Frankly I don’t see how Alda can even still call himself a god of Law after perfidiously betraying the terms of the deal on which the fate of the world hinged. But imposing the Stakes of Law on Vida for trying to uphold the deal must rankle even the gods less concerned about “Law” in principle. It’s a blatantly criminal act under color of law, but I think Peria would be more shocked by the crime itself than the perversion of Law.
Crunchyxix
Looks like its almost time for Fitun to get stomped out by Van 😀
Irazori
No…………..it would be a massacre. Hopefully more gruesome than hihiryushukaka’s, considering he’s on alda’s retard faction.
ExplodingPenguinDood
So this mystery god is now awake but Peria doesn’t know? Is she the same goddess that Peria worships?
I wonder who are the Next gen magical girls? Can Van make super sentai suits next?
Tejing
Umm what? Peria doesn’t worship anybody. The goddess that’s awake and no one knows it IS Peria. As for who she sent the message to, the raws don’t seem to say anything about her being a goddess, so my guess is Juliana.
Tejing
It was, and it’s been fixed. It just says ‘lady’ now.
bk3k
Maybe that section wasn’t clear enough but I’ll explain without spoiling. Peria (a great god) is awake, and has been for some time while pretending to still slumber. The reason for this will be explained later, but I think you can guess given what you know of the situation of the gods.
You are thinking of Yupeon (sp?) who is officially Peria’s subordinate but is effectively acting as a subordinate of Alda. Yupeon’s spirit clone was in that spear – a spirit clone destroyed by Van. No the message was not sent to Yupeon. Peria sent a message to someone (they’ll tell you later). But IIRC that person brought up the question of worshiping Peria as well to Van, so you may figure it out easily More importantly you can guess who they want to relay a message too.
It will lead to very big things, but not for some time. You may well have forgotten about it by then.
ExplodingPenguinDood
ok so I might be misremembering but wasn’t there a god of water or related to it that was calming down a bunch of subordinate gods. I thought that was Peria and she was saying that she was waiting for her master that was sleeping.
Tejing
That was Pargtarta, Goddess of Flow, a subordinate goddess of Peria. Her master who was sleeping was Peria.
Lord Rin
Now Isla and everybody can be soccer moms because they all each get a mini-Van <.<
Also I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to be a goddess that Peria gave a divine protection to. Gods can't give other gods their divine protections since they fall outside of the status system. Gufadgarn, Lissana, Luvesfol and I guess Darcia and Van can have other god's divine protections because they all have physical bodies that DO fall under the influence of the status system. I assume that instead of goddess, it's supposed to say follower or believer that Peria gave her divine protection and a divine message to and it can't be to any of the previous examples I gave either because they'd be able to quickly understand the divine message unlike what Peria says that it would take them a while to deliver her message to Van. But this does at least show that Peria does seem to want to join Van and Vida's faction since she's going out of her way to try to contact Van in such a roundabout method.
I hope Luves stays a wyvern forever. It'd be funny if he wants to regain his power and evolve back into an Elder Dragon only for him to instead reach rank 13+ as a wyvern. Become the first Elder Wyvern. Well it's already funny that Pauvina has a pet god.
Anyways looks like Pauvina is getting stronger. I think she has had more jobs than even the Five Colored Blades. All at the age of 8. Actually with her equipment, she might be able to stand up to them or maybe even beat some of the weaker ones.
I think Fitun miscalculated. By picking the Flame Blades and then paying off their fines, that's just gonna alert Natania and Van that something is fishy and they'll probably start speculating that somebody is using them so now Van will begin preparing for a confrontation. If Fitun picked some other no-names to make his "Heroes" then they would have no relation with Van's group and not end up alerting them.
ExplodingPenguinDood
Soccer moms I can’t ಥ‿ಥ
Pau-chan is probably A class right now but are her skills enough? Maybe I’m used to Van’s redonk skill levels ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
mexgema
I believe “goddess” was referring to Darcia.
Lord Rin
But Peria is expecting the message will take a while to reach Van. If it was a message given to Darcia she could immediately pass it on to him. Also according to some others in the comments down below, there is no mention of the word “goddess” in the raws.
mexgema
Huh. Alright, never mind what I said then.
Tejing
The raw just uses the word ‘kanojo’ to refer to the recipient of the message. as far as I can tell, there’s nothing that says she’s a goddess. My personal guess is that it’s Juliana.
Lord Rin
That’s very likely. Peria did say that the person she gave her divine protection and message to used to worship many gods including her. Juliana was said to worship many gods. Alternatively I guess it could also be Natania though I’m not sure if they ever said what gods she worshiped.
EDIT: Oh looks like Yoshi changed it so now it says “lady” instead of “goddess”.
Tejing
Ah, good, that’s resolved.
Also, more precisely she was stated to worship ‘a variety of goddesses’, which makes it even more likely Peria was one of them. There’s also the fact that Juliana is a fetus right now, and thus won’t be able to deliver the message for a while, as implied. Also, since the womb is a fluid environment, it makes sense that she might be ‘close to’ Peria right now, plus it makes the whole bit about the sea being the mother of all life have clear contextual relevance.
The other facts line up too, like suddenly being very close to Vida and (presumably) Van.
Jonathan Hurd
Juliana definitely seems a likely pick. Since she was directly mentioned to worship Peria. I had a thought towards the ocean and mother of all life. Maybe the message Peria is sending is less words and more like she’ll add a little something to Juliana and the others rebirth. Maybe instead of just being Cow beast people kind of like how Puavina became a noble orc beast girl. They’ll become something closer to merfolk/cow beast people.
Add in Perias Divine Protection and I think the message of I support what you guys are doing comes across. It would also make Van and Vidas group aware she’s awake and trusts them enough to tell them and not Alda.
Tejing
I have wondered about that kind of thing too, though I think it would be in addition to the message, rather than being the message.
Tejing
Yeah, I have wondered about that too, but I think it does make sense. Given how well Pauvina remembered her interaction with Van, and given that Pauvina had spent some time before that with her sense of self deteriorating as a spirit, I think Juliana, who went straight from a living body to a living body, will be able to remember things pretty well.
Also, I just realized, in chapter 216, Juliana explicitly said that she worshiped Peria, so that part isn’t even a question.
FalseSAM
Thanks for the chapter!!!
I was rereading the first chapters and I realised that Van said: “It seemed impossible that he could become a great hero within ten years.” And I was just like: yeah, right, you’ll just become a god, nothing special about it.
Tejing
Van is very humble… that’s a good thing I think.
VEreality
It is a good thing. At least I believe it is. And he has some messed up sense of value soooooo….. perhaps he thinks that being a hero is more important than being a god.
Jonathan Hurd
Well I mean you spend one life going through child abuse and the next as a guinea pig. You’re going to have some self esteem issues and different values. I think Vans modesty and respect towards God’s works in his favor. He is a frightening being to all God’s. The fact that he is humble and respectful to Vida and her allies makes it much easier for them to trust him.
Nox
Thanks for the chapter.
The name of the skill is quite off as the spirits rise from beneath the earth rather than fall from the sky.
Alda and his forces don’t know that the birth of a new god has started and his forces are about to suffer.
Gods don’t have a physical body but Guduranis certaintly had a body. So the question is: are there different kind of gods, for example with and without bodies or is Guduranis special in this regard?
Lord Rin
Guduranis and all the rest of the Evil Gods would fall under the demigod category. As Luvesfol explained, demigod is a broad term encompassing everybody with a physical body but are too great to be classified as a normal living organism. So some like the Beast Kings, Evil Gods, Elder Dragons like Tiamat or Colossi like Talos and Deeana who can do everything that gods can do such as give divine protections and set up Divine Realms and are treated as gods are still classified as demigods just because they have a physical body. Actually Alda and all the rest during the Age of Gods would have also fallen under the demigod category since they had physical bodies then even though they were still treated as gods before giving their physical bodies up later.
Tejing
The Demigod vs God distinction has absolutely nothing to do with level of power. Guduranis had a physical body, thus he was a demigod.
Lord Rin
They were classified as demigods back then. They just explained that “demigod” is nothing more than a blanket term for ANY being with a physical body that doesn’t fit within the bounds of a normal living organism. They may not have been called demigods back then because there was no need to distinguish each other but they would all still fall under the current definition of demigod. Guduranis and his army of Evil Gods also fall under the category of demigods for the same reason. Now most of the Evil Gods don’t fall under the demigod category because they all mostly retreated to their Divine Realms and gave up their physical bodies in order to begin recuperating after fighting two wars back-to-back. That’s also the same reason why all the Lambda gods aside from Colossi, Elder Dragons and Beast Kings gave up their physical bodies after the wars. They needed to recuperate and they needed to also govern the world’s attributes that got screwed up because of the death of Shizarion and the aftermath of the wars. Now most gods and evil gods don’t have enough power to create new physical bodies for themselves. If they do manage to create a physical body or descend on somebody then they would again fall under the demigod category even if they are full gods.
VEreality
I think that demonfall means that the spirit that you are summoning has fallen from grace of the “good” gods. A tainted soul so to speak
Alex-dono
I knew a chapter was coming soon. I was a day off.
Kazza
Damn, not an Origin Chapter…
Ah well, still pretty good. Not much to really talk about. I am curious why it’s still “Familiar Sprit ‘Demonfall” when the story explicitly tells us the spirits ‘Ascend’ from the ground. I’m kind of curious why it’s not just a straight inversion, but whatever.
Just a thought experiment; so in this chapter Alda implies that if Hihiryu went ahead and surrendered to them, he would’ve been sealed, but at least he wouldn’t be destroyed. The thing is though, is that actually mercy?
Because it’s not clear on whether Alda means the “Sealing-that-removes-free-will-but-you-perform-your-function” or the “You’re-Trapped-In-A-Book-comma-Bitch-sealing” like the one Evil God whose name I forgot. Either way, Hihiryu is isolated and can’t effect the world anymore.
‘Cause in Alda’s mind, the seal would be permanent, because he is immortal and would always take measures to ensure a high-ranking Evil God like Hihiryu would be unable to escape, unlike Farmaun, who… left the book there? I dunno… maybe it was during the time he broke away from Alda and he forgot about it?
But given that, what purpose would that serve? In our terms, we put someone in prison, but if their crimes are not horrific, they generally have the ability to parole or a set number of years of imprisonment. Those who don’t serve life sentences if capital punishment is outlawed, but otherwise receive the death penalty.
But Alda would never offer that to him, because there’s nothing Hihiryu could do to show he’s changed. What, he’d just say it? “Man, I’m sorry I was a dick, but being held in isolation for millenia really made rethink the errors of my ways instead of instilling a burning hatred for you.”
So, Hihiryu is cut off from interacting with the world. Now, this would take place over millenia, but wasn’t it established that gods need followers to maintain their divinity, since if Alda successfully destroyed all monster Vida Races (and converted the natives) she would lose all followers and her divinity? Or at least, they would be small enough that she can’t maintain it? Damn it…
Searching…Searching…Searching…
OK, yeah. After the Ervine fight, Alda says:
“Then it seems that I must carry out the reconciliation with Vida’s races that Nineroad suggested… But the requirement of this is to have Vida fall from her position as goddess.”
Now, here’s the thing: gods who are removed from their followers will eventually lose their divinity, and with it the ability to manually reincarnate if killed. This would presumably put them in whatever reincarnation circle they’re in (Demon King for Hihiryu, presumably Rodcorte’s for Vida), and they would be reincarnated into a lower ranked species, with no memories of their previous godhood, only to die again whether through old age or being killed.
So here’s the question: Is that any better than destroying him? Morally, ethically, in any way? Because in the end, all he’s doing is extending the time it takes for said destruction to occur, not unlike someone torturing someone sadisticaly to prolong their suffering until they eventually die, when a simple gunshot is much more efficient.
Whatever his reasons for doing this are, that’s still much worse than a simple destruction over the course of a few seconds.
Or is it that he’s not thinking about it at all, and his plan is just to slap a seal and forget about it, leaving them in eternal isolation? ‘Cause that’s somehow even worse. He’s not going to forgive them and offer them freedom, because he’s already had millenia to do so to the descendants of the ones who played turncoat to his side, and yet they’re still up for extermination.
So, getting right down to it, Alda doesn’t even have a shed of moral superiority over Van, and yet still feels like his side holds the edge. OK, common hypocrisy we’ve come to know and love from him.
But here’s the actual thought experiment: If Van never existed, and it was instead Alda who somehow gained Gudurandis’s ability to destroy souls, would he use it? Would he rationalize it, even though it was the main weapon of his moral enemy, in order to carry out his version of justice? Or would he stick to the juvenile morals Bellwood set for him?
Part of me wants to believe he wouldn’t, but a much larger part of me thinks he would definitely do so. Anyone else?
Tejing
“Not much to really talk about.”
…
proceeds to fill a page
…
But to answer your question, I think he’d definitely use it. It would *obviously* be completely different for him to use it, since he’d use it “for good”.
Random Passerby no.25
Yes.
He would do it while saying “this is for the sake of the world” And think that he hasn’t done anything bad because he is “the good guy”.
Van is better because he admit he is not a good guy
Kazza
Yeah, that’s a verbal tick of mine. Sorry. I should really read through my comments before I post them…
Morgan
It’s Demonfall because where would a demon fall from? Hell. also, why would it be the normal FSD? He’s essentially the god of demons and is the demon king as well.
Kazza
I mean, I’m only familiar with Christian mythology, but isn’t Hell below the Earth, as it is furthest away from Heaven, which is in the air? So if anything, the demons would be rising out of Hell…
Shank Mugen
I think they meant that it should be Familiar Spirit Ascent, which would be the inverse of the normal Familiar Spirit Descent, and if there is a particular reason for calling it Demonfall instead of Ascent
Morgan
@Tankhunter678 actually Hell doesn’t exist below Earth and Heaven doesn’t exist above Earth. there’s no up or down, left or right, foward or backward, when talking about different planes of a reality.
Anyway the skill is most likely called Demonfall because the demigod who gave it is a demon and demigods and gods are “higher” beings.
But really, if a demon fell from Hell, it would go to Earth. same way an angel falling from Heaven would go to Earth. the whole “falling” part is just leaving their home and entering a mortal world. which in other words, they leave a plane of existence without time and enter a PoE that has time.
Thk
It could also be “Demonrise” Though, I suspect it is ‘fall’ in the same sense as a boat or storm makes landfall, such that it would make sense to read it as “Demon-Arrival.” Where the ‘demon’ is arriving, or making ‘personfall’ on the user.
Lord Rin
I would like to point out two things:
The Evil God in the book was Buburdura, the Evil God of the Magic Tome. He got defeated by Farmaun and lost his power but he wasn’t sealed. All that was said was that Buburdura turned himself into a book after presumably fleeing and then set himself up at a mage guild where rumors some of which he probably spread himself that said he was a forbidden magic tome sealed away and that you’d gain great power if you read it and then Buburdura would eat the idiots who believed the rumors and came to unseal the book in order to regain his power. There was no actual seal.
As for the other thing: Lambda’s gods don’t require followers to exist. Same with Evil Gods. Only the gods of Earth and Origin require followers and believers to continue to exist. For Evil Gods and Lambda’s gods, having followers and believers will make them stronger but not having any won’t kill them or make them cease to exist. They might get weakened temporarily if they lose all their followers and believers though I guess. Anyways when Alda said that Vida would need to fall from her position as a goddess I think he was talking about weakening her and then using his powers as the god of law to punish her by stripping her of her divinity. He probably could have done it when she was hit with the Stakes of Law but he thought that she’d reform and rejoin him in time and so he didn’t do anything else.
Kazza
Ah, Death Mage gods, both incredibly powerful and weakened by the rules in so many ways…
But if that can be done to Vida, couldn’t you make Hihiryu a Lambdan god and do the same?
See, that’s the thing I don’t get. In order to become a Lambdan god, you need to have a whole bunch of followers in Lambda. Ok, got it. But this god doesn’t need to be worshiped, as Rodcorte shows, just believed in. So, if Alda spread word about Hihiryu after he was captured (presumably some heroic saga about defeating him) and he was recognized by the world, then would he be under his authority? That might not help when Hihiryu is out and protected by Purebreeds, but if he succeeded in sealing him, wouldn’t that be ideal? Then he could go with my plan of stripping authority and killing him.
And if the counter is “That doesn’t work on Evil Gods” that’s… really weak. Not wrong, or non-canon or whatever… just weak. If you make rules for your universe, the world building gets weaker when you say “These guys have to follow some of these rules, but get a pass on these rules, because otherwise the story is over.”
That’s not anything on you (I think you made good points that I forgot about), just me complaining about the conflicting rules.
Or maybe that is the case and Alda is just an idiot. Wouldn’t be the first time those words were uttered…
Lord Rin
I assume it’s that Alda really is just an idiot. I seem to recall that Tristan and some other gods mentioned how they could get some of the Evil Gods to help govern the world’s attributes after dealing with Alda’s faction which should only be possible if they’re considered a Lambdan god. So it does seem possible for an Evil God to be considered a Lambdan god.
Irazori
Pretty sure it’s that when gods (native or not) are known to mortals, they become Lambda gods regardless. Zakkart wanted to recruit not-loyal evil gods to become new ones, so once they got some recognition from the mortals, they became connected to Lambda. Just like how rodi-moron ended up getting recognized as a shitty incompetent god, due to Van revealing his existence and idiocy. So of course mr. Holier than thou (aldiot) would technically have jurisdiction to affect evil gods and rod-shitbag, but as usual he would not know about it.
ExplodingPenguinDood
Hihiryu is one of the invading gods wasn’t he? Maybe Alda can strip gods of divinity to native lambda gods when they’re weak enough but only to lambda gods ┐( ∵ )┌
bk3k
>Lambda’s gods don’t require followers to exist.
This is almost true, but effectively false. Their existence doesn’t directly require others to believe in them, but they need the energy – from people’s beliefs/prayers/etc – much like you need food. If they had a lot of energy built up, they could go on for a long time, but inevitably it becomes a problem if not resolved.
Xymori
Alda is just dissatisfied at the fact that his death strengthened van and that he would be unable to torment the evil god since we all know Alda would never forgive it no matter how it may have tried to atone despite it being part of his own teachings. Vida say’s it herself in Side chapter 5.
“The one who tore their chance to atone into pieces is you. The one who teaches that criminals should atone for their wrongdoings, and that they are no longer criminals once they have finished atoning, is you.”
It’s really just his arrogance showing because despite the fact that his world still needs more help in recovering from the past he actually wants to waste his power sealing away the god since similar to sealing the demon king fragments i imagine it would also cause him to always have to use a portion of his power no matter how small to keep the evil god locked up.
Also 100% yes i believe he would use soul destruction on enemy gods if possible. Just look at the gods on Vida’s side. When the evil god of release was defeated they tore him into pieces to seal him since they couldn’t destroy him until Van came to meet them. Even the demon king is only sealed because Alda has no way to destroy him so if he held a similar power that would just increase his options from life imprisonment to death penalty.
DeathDisciple
Maybe the goddess that peria sent the divine message is Pargtarta(i think thats her name), i remember her in some older chapters( don’t remember wich one) and she is the only one i can think that has some sort of conection with Peria, from what i recall she is a subordinate goddess of Peria.
Tejing
I’m pretty sure it’s Juliana. The raws don’t actually say anything about a goddess as far as I can tell with my admittedly limited japanese, and it wouldn’t be very normal for a goddess to be worshipping other gods or be given a divine protection.
Blue
The bit where Peria says the oceans can be called the mother of life, maybe she’s talking about Darcia? Seeing as Darcia is considered as the incarnation of Vida, the goddess of life. And I’m not entirely sure about who Darcia worshiped before her death and reincarnation, so that may be the part about worshiping other gods and then becoming closer to Vida.
Tejing
If it’s Darcia, why is she expecting it to take time for her to become able to pass on the message? Darcia’s with Van constantly.
TheTrueDeathGod
Tristen the god of the sea.
Lord Rin
But Tristan can just as easily contact Van like Darcia.
TheTrueDeathGod
The hard part is the message to Tristan because of the barrier.
Tejing
Tristan is male, so definitely not.

Also about the remnants of the demon king’s army, Van has faced many evil gods that belong to this factions. Wonder if Van will fight the rest of this faction and I also wonder how powerful Van will become if this faction has been completely destroyed by him.
Darkhelios
Hmmm… Don’t think that the rest of the demon king’s army will try to do anything against Vandalieu. They most likely already know that he easily destroyed/ate some of them…
Technically they could try to join forces with Alda to fight Vandalieu… but considering what Alda did to the Evil Gods who joined their side during the war against the Demon King, it most likely won’t happen. If they try to do this, they would, at best, only be sealed for the rest of their lives… At worst, they could get eaten/destroyed without being able to explain/defend themselves.
So if “fighting Vandalieu” isn’t an option, they can only pick two choices:
– Hide and wait for the storm to pass. Difficult + they would also lose a lot of their power (after all, if they try to commit evil deeds, Vandalieu could notice them… same thing with their followers) + not sure that the “storm will pass”.
– Surrender to Vandalieu. Luvesfol being still alive should show them that this option is still possible. (Moreover his friends need to find some pets too!)

Thank you for the chapter Yoshi, good to know the facts of gods, demigods and the familiar spirit demonfall skill. So that is what the tiny Vans are for from the previous chapter. Also, haven’t heard from Pauvina until now, good to know she is doing well. Also Luves is pitiful, he use to be the one giving divine protection and sending familiar spirits, now his position has changed. Kinda cool how demon fall comes from beneath the ground for the skill user. So the flame blades have finished paying off their debt, in the previous chapter they met Hajime inui. They are most likely Fitun’s pawns, wonder if we can expect a confrontation between hajime inui and Van soon. Also who was that goddess that received Peria’s divine protection? That part was a little unclear, hopefully that goddess and Peria both meet Van soon. Hope to see the next chapter soon.

Hello new chapter!
Ok, this right here is the answer to a lot of my quetions about divinity in this story. Very nice.
Here is a new question: Would Rodidiot even be able to control what happens with Van’s soul, should he die at this point? With him becoming divinity and this not being addressed in such a long time I feel kind of lost.
Also, here is a question for the lols more than anything else(we all need it at this point. Don’t deny it): What would be Van’s theme song?
I think it would be either “Legion of monsters” by Disturbed or “Can I get a witness” by SonReal (at least the chorus)
Thank you Yoshi-sama! Have a nice day!
Phantom Knight
I am not too sure about Demigods, but we do know that souls that become gods are removed from the Transmigration System. They didn’t even dare to put Guduranis in the any of their Transmigration Systems. As such, they might have to abandon all hope of reincarnating Van-sama if they want to suffer unexpected consequences.
Matchu
That and he is currently in Vidas system, so rodcorte would have to take Van from her system like Vida did, but problem would be that when Vida took Vans soul and put it in her own rodcorte didnt watch over his soul Wich made it easyer for her to take it, but I would guess that if Van dies she is gonna know and would do anything in her power to keep him in her system, so unless they tear Vans soul apart like they did guduranis rodcorte is gonna have a Hard time trying to take Van away, but thats just my thoughts.
Randomreader
Theme song in my opinion would be either = the reaper by all good things. Or O’Death by Jen Titus
Lord Rin
Well we all know Rodcorte is an idiot. He probably truly believes that once Van dies, he’d be able to take his soul all easy-peazy and either seal it away or wipe its memories before placing it back in his own circle of reincarnation. Nevermind the fact that Van’s soul belongs to Vida’s circle of reincarnation and Rodcorte has no way to influence any souls from that circle.
Darkhelios
Technically Rod’s current objective is to run away from Van, right? But he can’t do this as long as Van’s people know him meaning that he needs to exterminate them in order to sever this world from his network and be able to escape.
Matchu
Honestly thats something i wouldnt mind seeing, just rodcorte getting the ever living, arrogant shit beaten out of him
Hasin
I think rod wouldn’t be able to do anything. van would turn himself undead with it’s power like in origin, and probably use one of the last root of life to reincarnate himself with even more cheat attribute (certainly with the help of vida too.)
VEreality
Huh….how ironic. Van’s wish to live is the only thing that keeps one of his worst enemies alive.
Superboy8338
The Holy War arc can’t come fast enough, I WANT TO SEE VAN GO MK11 ON ALDA AND HIS MOST LOYAL FOLLOWERS!!!! XD
Superboy8338
I predict that when this novel ends, Van will be a god among gods. Thoughts anyone?
Telephotoleek69
I fell that Van will become the God of Death and Reincarnation because no matter what world death always exists
Kidd
Thank you for the chapter!
Isla and Luves though 😂 it has been a while since I’ve had a good genuine laugh. This is definitely the quality content we all need.
But just imagine Alda and Rod-idiot’s reaction once they find out about to Van’s steady ascent to divinity. Not only is he the new demon king, but he’s also slowy becoming a god himself.
(I forgot if Guduranis was able to give divine protections too. But I’m quite sure he couldn’t)
Nobody2
Guduranis was a genuine god he definitely could have given them out. But I highly doubt he ever did. No way would he have thought anyone worthy of It
Entropy
I doubt he would trust any of his underlings enough to share his power with as well. Besides that, Guduranis came from a world where only the strong survive so he may not have considered helping those weaker than him since that would go against his natural disposition.
Renrobt
So Demonfall is effectively the same as Descent with the exception that it is using the Mini Van clones. When Van’s soul was reconstituted Vida mentioned that these leftover clones will effectively act like divine protection and familiar spirits but for now they don’t do much. So with this we can guess that at least in case of the Demonfall it effectively turns the divine protection of the person into their literal power. And considering this is Van’s power we are talking about, it probably makes the people immune to death or something, or maybe allow them to damage/destroy souls.
Also apparently now everyone has a backyard sale version of Banda. Cool.
Superboy8338
I’m just surprised that Van isn’t a god yet considering the sh!t he can do now.
Superboy8338
Because of Greek Mythology, in my mind, a demigod will always be half god, half whatever the god procreated with.
Sagastiel
“You can call me ‘Pau,’ you know?” kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk for those who understand portuguese it was very strange
Superboy8338
Please explain it then.
Tejing
A quick dictionary lookup tells me that in Portugese, ‘pau’ means ‘stick’, ‘wood’, ‘bar’, or ‘tent peg’
Vereth
it can also means “dick”
Tejing
Well that’s awkward.
Superboy8338
HA!!! XD
Superboy8338
AH.
TerayakiChix
Welp, in Chinese it just means “bun”.
YohaoShakur
In portuguese pau could be translated as dick
GashBello
kkkk Like a good brazilian guy, that made me laugh a lot.
PrinceHaten
Great chapter lets see what Van’s next challenger has in store;
Nobody2
This chapter explains a lot of stuff about the gods and demigods that we were still wondering about.
Superboy8338
What I got from this was that anyone can become a demigod, they just have to meet specific requirements.
Valkit
Lmao, poor Luvesfol
Terumi
Thanks to everyone for all the great work put into this chapter along with the others
Tejing
Hmm. I wonder who Peria sent her divine protection and message to? I sort of thought it might be Juliana, but she’s not a goddess, so I don’t really know what to think. Darcia? At any rate, ‘him’ is almost certainly Vandalieu, but I wonder what the message is? Is she asking for help? Asking about something she needs to know to decide whether to ally with him? Probably not that last one I guess, since if she was undecided she wouldn’t be handing out her divine protection to someone close to him.
So pain became a moth huh? I didn’t really see that one coming. I wonder what he’s capable of now?
I’m also glad Rapiecage and Yamata have gotten a little better at talking.
Also, Densuke, why do you have to tease us so much? I want to know what the deal is with the Flame Blades!
Tejing
Looking at the raws, I can’t find any indication that the recipient of the message is a goddess. I’m not sure why Yoshi translated it that way. She’s just described with the word ‘kanojo’. My japanese is definitely not good enough to really proclaim Yoshi wrong with any confidence, though. Still, until more information comes in, I’m gonna go ahead and say the recipient is probably Juliana. Everything else fits.
EDIT: it seems Yoshi changed it to say ‘lady’ instead, so it seems I was correct.
TheTrueDeathGod
Tristen the god of the sea
Tejing
As I said elsewhere, Tristan is male, so definitely not. ‘kanojo’ does imply that the recipient is female.
YohaoShakur
If I’m not wrong, there was a goddess of the sea/ocean serving Vida, she was the one that blessed the mearfolk(or something like that, I don’t really remember them)
Tejing
That’s Tristan, God of the Seas, and he’s male, so no.

He must have merged with an evil god.
